Top of page Vax clinic In partnership with the Department of State Health Services and Spartan Medical, CTC will host a vaccination clinic at the Anderson Campus Center (Bldg. 224) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The first 300 people to register will receive the first vaccination dose this Thursday, September 23. The second dose will be administered during the same time frame on October 21. Spartan Medical will have 250 Moderna and 50 Pfizer vaccines available. Top of page IT update Information Technology recently announced the following items: WebAdvisor Cessation WebAdvisor will be discontinued on September 30. CTC has been transitioning away from WebAdvisor for the past several years, and the process to move completely over to Eagle Self-Service has been finalized. The primary URL for Eagle Self-Service will be: http://student.ctcd.org. Starting September 30, the former URL(s) used to access WebAdvisor will redirect users to the Self-Service application. The existing Eagle Self- Service URL (https://selfserve.ctcd.org/student) will continue to function as it does currently. EagleBot CTC has implemented an artificial-intelligence-based chatbot provided by IVY.ai. The IT Division is currently piloting the chatbot, which went live on the CTC IT webpages on August 30. While faculty, staff and students may always contact the IT Help Desk at ext. 3103 or e-mail [email protected], employees are encouraged to visit the IT webpages - https://www.ctcd.edu/students/student-it-services/ or https://www.ctcfacstaff.ctcd.edu/faculty-staff/info-technology/ - and engage the chatbot with questions first. If EagleBot is unable to answer your question(s), it will connect you to live Help Desk personnel, while the IT Help Desk is open, or help you create a Help Desk ticket. Top of page TIAA counseling sessions Employee Benefits recently announced TIAA counseling sessions for participants of the Qualified and Supplemental Pension Plans will be available starting in October. It is open to all Qualified and Supplemental Pension Plan participants. Top of page Fine Arts update The Fine Arts’ fall semester art exhibit, “Invisible Wounds” continues through November 16 in the upstairs art gallery of the library. The exhibit features the works of sculptor and art therapist Peter Buotte. Auditions for the fall drama production, “Black Girl, Interrupted,” are September 22-23 at 5 p.m. in the auditorium (Bldg. 218). Participants must prepare a 60-second dramatic monologue and wear comfortable clothing. For questions about the show, email [email protected]. Several CTC retired art professors and a student are featured in the current art exhibit, “A Life Assembled,” in the Saulsbury Gallery of the Cultural Activities Center in Temple. The four artists featured in the exhibit are Chad Hines, former CTC Visual arts professor; Nancy Isett, CTC professor emeritus – Fine Arts; Wynona Alexander, CTC professor emeritus – Fine Arts and art metals professor; and Sheri Wilson, CTC art student. Each artist has contributed six to 10 pieces for the exhibit. The artists share a perspective through combined objects and expression - photography, metal, foam, beads, wood and more. Found objects were put together through assemblages of the human experience to express emotions and comment on today's issues of society. The CTC Choir and Jazz Band will perform during a midday music break at the gazebo on Wednesday, September 28 from 12:30 – 1:15 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Top of page Top ADN program Nursing Schools Almanac recently named CTC as one of the top associate nursing degree programs in Texas. The organization’s research team compiled an extensive database of student performance on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) during the past nine years to calculate each school’s NCLEX pass rate among first-time test-takers. Based on the exam pass rate of 90.8 percent, CTC ranks as the ninth best Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program in the state. Top of page Dining Great Western Dining is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. A breakfast buffet is now available Monday – Friday from 8-10 a.m. for $5.95, plus tax. A lunch buffet is also available Monday – Friday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for $6.95 plus tax. A new buffet menu will be featured each day. Lunch delivery is available by emailing [email protected] or calling ext. 1844. Orders must be placed before 10:30 a.m. and deliveries will begin at 12 p.m. Dinner buffet is now available Monday-Friday from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. for dine-in or pick-up to-go only. The cost is $6.85, plus tax. The current menu is available online. Top of page Self-reporting HR reminds all CTC employees they are required to immediately self-report any type of COVID-19 related exposure, including if exposure occurs during nights and weekends. COVID-19 exposures include those involving you and other co-workers, students, customers, vendors, family members, friends and all others. If you are exposed, do not come to work/campus. If you are at work, you must leave work/campus immediately and fill out the COVID-19 Employee Self Reporting Form in Etrieve.
