The description needs to provide a concise, but clear description of the initiative’s scope. (approx 3 paragraphs) A motorway connection, mainly in tunnel, from the eastern end of the Western Freeway (M4) at North Strathfield to the western outskirts of the Sydney CBD and the road network near Sydney Airport. It would link M4 to the eastern section of the Sydney Orbital via the Cross City Tunnel and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The eastern section of the M4 (east of Parramatta) would be widened/upgraded. A twin tube tunnel is proposed from North Strathfield to just south of Campbell Road at St Peters with connections to the City West Link at Lilyfield/Rozelle and Parramatta Road/Broadway at Glebe/ Chippendale. A bus only connection at Parramatta Road, Haberfield is also possible. A further tunnel is proposed to connect Victoria Road near Gladesville Bridge to the main tunnel in the Leichhardt area. There is a proposed surface motorway link from just south of Campbell Road to the road network around Sydney Airport probably connecting to Canal Road and Qantas Drive (the latter subject to M5 East Expansion planning and Sydney Airport Corp Ltd agreement) with a potential link to M5 at Arncliffe. -

												Arcure Continues Its International Expansion by Equipping the Westconnex Motorway, Mega-Construction Site in Sydney
Paris, the 11th of October 2019 Arcure continues its international expansion by equipping the WestConnex Motorway, mega-construction site in Sydney Specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to image processing in the industrial world, Arcure has been selected by the consortium Lendlease Samsung Bouygues Joint Venture (LSBJV) to equip machines working on the WestConnex M4-M5 Link project in Sydney with Blaxtair®, the reference solution for pedestrian protection around industrial vehicles. « WestConnex is one of the largest road infrastructure projects in Australia. Having equipped industrial sites in the Greater Paris area and also supplied Blaxtair® pedestrian detection systems for mobile plant on parts of the London underground expansion project, we are proud to work on the safety element of this huge undertaking. This new collaboration on an infrastructure operation of this size testifies to the relevance of the Blaxtair® solution and has spurred us to actively seek further international projects and opportunities », Franck Gayraud, CEO and co-founder of Arcure. Blaxtair® is the result of a collaboration between Arcure and the CEA's (note to editors: in France, the CEA is the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) research laboratories and is considered the industry-leading, embedded detection system. This innovative 3D camera detects obstacles around mobile plant and/or materials handling equipment. Thanks to AI, Blaxtair® differentiates between pedestrians in the designated detection zone and objects/obstacles, thus helping to avoid pedestrian collisions. Its unique technology will warn a driver in case of danger, avoiding unnecessary alarms and untimely stops. The adaptability and responsiveness offered by the Blaxtair® system allows mobile plant to be used with minimal risk to pedestrians on industrial sites with the most demanding operating conditions. -

												Westconnex New M5 Environmental Impact Statement
15 Social and economic This chapter outlines the potential social and economic impacts associated with the project. A detailed social and economic impact assessment has been undertaken for the project and is included in Appendix M. The Secretary of the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DP&E) has issued a set of environmental assessment requirements for the project; these are referred to as Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs). Table 15-1 sets out these requirements as they relate to social and economic matters, and identifies where they have been addressed in this environmental impact statement (EIS). EPISODE 61 SUBURB SPOTLIGHT ON GLADESVILLE Marcus: Good morning and welcome to another episode of the Sydney property inside podcast, your weekly podcast series that talks about all things property related in the city of Sydney. Michelle, how are you doing this fine morning? Michelle: Good, how are you? Marcus: Very very well. So today, we are going to back to one of our series which is the Suburbs Spotlight series and today, we're focused on Gladesville. Michelle: I know Gladesville. I know it well, I used to live there for a long time, actually. Marcus: Oh did you, I didn't know? Oh wow. Michelle: Yeah, I did. Marcus: 'Cause I personally don't know that much about Gladesville so this was certainly interesting reading for myself. Michelle: Yeah, Gladesville is a really interesting suburb. For those of you who don't know where it is, it's on the lower North Shore, northern suburbs of Sydney although sometimes it's counted as being part of the Inner West now, too. So it's situated on the northern banks of the Parramatta river and it's next to Hunters Hill to the northeast and Boronia Park to the north, with Ryde to the western side of it. It's approximately 10 Ks from the city and it's placed in between the local government area of the City of Ryde and the municipality of Hunters Hill. Michelle: So it's really got a very rich history, most of which I found on the dictionary of Sydney which is a fantastic website with lots of information about the history of different suburbs. -

These DRAFTwere: DRAFT DRAFT 1. Road traffic data for western Sydney sector arterials: Great Western Highway and M4 Motorway 1985 – 1995 2. Rail ticketing data and passenger journey estimates for the Western Sydney Rail Line 1985 – 1995 These have now been combined and are presented here as part of an ongoing series of case studies in induced traffic growth from the Sydney Metropolitan Region. In the first, report which focussed on road traffic volumes, an error was made. The location points of road traffic counting stations were incorrect. Although this error does not affect the general conclusions, details of some of the analysis presented in this version are different to that presented in the original papers listed above. Some data additions have also been made, and so the accompanying commentary has been expanded. Acknowledgements During the collation of this data Mr Barry Armstrong from the NSW Roads & Traffic Authority provided invaluable information on road data collection methods as well as problems with data integrity. -

Dear Sir or Madame, RE: Western Harbour Tunnel & Warringah Freeway Upgrade I am writing in support of Bike North and their submission on the Western Harbour Tunnel & Warringah Freeway Upgrade.i Bicycle NSW has been the peak bicycle advocacy group now in NSW for over forty-three years, and has over 30 affiliated local Bicycle User Groups, including Bike North. Bicycle NSW exists to create a better environment for all bicycle riders and our advocacy is guided by three policy pillars to achieve this namely: Build it for Everyone: cycling infrastructure should be built suitable for all riders, and we say ‘from 8-80’ as a reminder that children through to elders should all be able to use it independently Safe Home: because everyone deserves to arrive home safely and laws, regulation and enforcement need to support this Invest Now for Health: calls for government to recognise the importance of investment in safe cycling to address the rising impact of inactivity on human health Bicycle NSW agrees with and supports the objections of Bike North to the proposal on the basis that: The proposal would entrench private, environmentally damaging transport at the expense of public and active transport The EIS fails to provide a full detailed business case to support this proposal over public transport investment The project fails to include delivery of the North Shore Cycleway as part of the project or at least the section between Naremburn and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This directly contradicts Sydney’s Cycling Future (NSW Government, Dec 2013) that requires that the ‘needs of people on bike be included throughout the planning of new and upgraded road projects’, and that ‘bicycle facilities be identified and delivered parallel to major transport corridors’.
