Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT An agroforestry system is land use developed to provide economic, ecological and social benefits to improve the welfare of the community. The aim of this study are (1) to determine the contribution of agroforestry to plant diversity, and (2) to calculate the contribution of agroforestry to community welfare in Ternate. Plant diversity was Collected by using a combination method. Data of welfare community was collected by interview method. Plant diversity was analyzed by using index of Shannon Wienner and Jaccard. Data of welfare community was analyzed by using farmer income variable. There are 18, 14, and 13 types of vegetation were recorded, each of which was found in Tabona, Gambesi, and SasaVillages (Tabona; mean= 76.94, SD= 80.27; Gambesi, mean = 30.35, SD = 24.27; Sasa; mean = 28.07; SD= 51.43).The highest contribution of agroforestry to community income is in strata II with a percentage of 99.66%. Kontak Bahasa Belanda dan Bahasa Sunda sebagai Pemerkaya Kebudayaan: Serapan Kosakata1 Oleh Dr. Sugeng Riyanto, M.A. Dr. H. Agus Nero Syofyan, M.Hum Nani Darmayanti, Ph.D. ABSTRACT Sundanese people open to outside influences to develop its culture. This is evident from the results of the study reported here. With qualitative research method, this research data is taken from the Sundanese dictionary Danadibrata (2009). There are 1164 Sundanese words that are derived from the Dutch language. That means that 2.91% of the 40,000 words of Sunda. Type the word which is most nouns, followed by adjectives and adverbs, and verbs, prepositions, and interjections. There is a loan word that does not change the forms and some words are changed in terms of both phonological and morphological. Adjustments are made if the Sundanese does not have the form. There are some words which experienced a total change. In terms of meaning there is no change but there is also a change, either narrowed or expanded. Keywords: loanwoards, fonological changing, morfological changing, changing in meaning. ABSTRAK Masyarakat Sunda terbuka terhadap pengaruh dari luar untuk mengembangkan kebudayaannya. Hal itu terbukti dari hasil penelitian yang dilaporkan di sini. Dengan metode penelitian berancangan kualitatif, data penelitian ini diambil dari kamus Danadibrata (2009). Dalam bahasa Sunda terdapat 1164 kata yang berasal dari bahasa Belanda. Itu berarti 2,91% dari 40.000 kata Sunda. Jenis kata yang terbanyak adalah nomina, disusul adjektiva dan adverbia, lalu verba, preposisi, dan interjeksi. Ada kata serapan yang tidak mengalami perubahan bentuk dan ada pula kata yang mengalami perubahan bentuk baik dari segi fonologis maupun morfologis. -

Revised: April 23, 2018. Accepted: June 10, 2018 Abstract The purpose of this study is to understand the role of pantun in the text of Nyanyian Lagu Melayu Asli (NLMA). By using critical descriptive method accompanied by implementation of content analysis theory, the author conducted literature studies (literature studies), namely activities re- lating to compilation and critical analysis of literature data, such as books, magazines, docu- ments, historical stories and etc. The results of the study found that Pantun is an old Malay poetry work that is not only full of meaning but also solid with its beauty value. Values of beauty can perceived if we are sensitive and susceptible with structure and language style a pack of Pantun. The other result of this study found the functionality of the origin creation of Pantun associated with; (1) commoners who created pantun through their own living experiences, (2) wise people who issued wise words from their contemplation and (3) wise verses from the holy book, namely the Qur‟an. The most important research results above all of them are: 1). Pantun as a literary art, which has fulfilled the provisions as one of the highest art works of the Malay heritage. -

Persebaran Kosakata Belanda di Berbagai Bahasa di Dunia1 (Sugeng Riyanto, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung) 1. Pembuka Bahasa Belanda tidak hanya meminjamkan kosakatanya pada bahasa dari negara-negara yang dulu menjadi koloninya, yakni yang terbesar adalah Indonesia dan yang lebih kecil adalah Afrika Selatan dan Suriname. Belanda juga pernah menduduki Malakka dan Sri Langka. Di Jepang Belanda pernah bercokol di pulau Deshima. Sebagai pelaut dan pedagang ulung orang Belanda pada masa lampau juga singgah di berbagai belahan benua lain dan ternyata bahasa Belanda juga meminjamkan banyak kata di bahasa-bahasa lainnya, misalnya bahasa Rusia, bahasa Cina, bahasa Jepang, bahasa Korea, bahasa Turki, dan bahkan bahasa Arab. Dalam bahasa Indonesia banyak kata diserap dari bahasa Belanda, misalnya: amplop, ban, dongkrak, koalisi, kusen, parlemen, politik, gratis. Kata-kata itu dalam bahasa Belanda adalah enveloppe, band, dommekracht, coalitie, kozijn, parlement, politik, gratis. Bahasa-bahasa lain di Indonesia, selain bahasa Indonesia juga menyerap kosakata bahasa Belanda. Dalam bahasa Jawa dikenal kata pit ‘sepeda’, potlot ‘pensil’, dan kelar ‘selesai’; tiga kata yang berasal dari fiets, potlood, dan klaar. Bahasa Sunda menyerap kelar, bus, onerdil (dalam bahasa Belanda bus, onderdeel). Bahasa Melayu Manado menyerap birman ‘tetangga’ (dalam bahasa Belanda buurman), snup ‘kudapan’ (dalam bahasa Belanda snoep). Bahasa Melayu Jakarta, Melayu Ambon, bahasa Madura, dan bahasa lain juga menyerap banyak kosa kata Belanda. Makalah ini membahas ekspansi bahasa Belanda ke berbagai bahasa-bahasa lain di dunia, yakni persebaran kosakata Belanda ke pelbagai bahasa yang ada di berbagai belahan dunia. Pembahasan diawali dengan sejarah ringkas ekspansi bahasa Belanda dan dilanjutkan dengan jumlah kata yang dipinjamkan pada berbagai bahasa beserta contoh kata-katanya. -

A sociopolitical study of the Thai government policy to the Muslim South Introduction Southern Thailand has a Muslim population with a 200 year history of separatism and evolving relations with the central government. This paper refers to Southern Thailand as the five provinces of Songkhala, Satun, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat which borders Malaysia. Approximately 80% of the Malay-Muslim or “Thai-Muslim” minority live in the southern provinces. Nationwide, there are nearly 4 million Muslims of the 62 million Thai pop- ulation. (Please note that the term “Malay-Muslim” and “Thai-Muslim” will be used interchangeably throughout the paper. Thai-Muslim is the term used officially by the Thai government to lessen ethnic differentiation.) Thai-Muslims have a strong, distinctive ethnic identity that is tied to their Malay ethnicity, Malay language, and Islamic faith. Language is a point of contention as it is a symbol and identification of religion. While an esti- mated 99% of Muslims speak Thai, Malay is the mother tongue for 75% of them (Yegar, 131; VIC, 2). Furthermore, in the 14th century, the five border provinces belonged to the Malay-Muslim Pattani Kingdom, which was con- sidered as the cradle of Islam in Southeast Asia (Bonura, 15). Most of the separatist tensions appear in Pattani, Narathiwat, Yala, and to a lesser extent, Satun. Songkhala has a lower concentration of Malay-Muslims, which then acts as a geographical buffer between Satun and the other three provinces. Another point of contention is socio-economic disparity, which is a charac- teristic of internally colonized states and tends to heighten regional tensions. -

Ee Tiang Hong, Tranquerah (1985) ! i! Preface and Acknowledgements ! This is a story that weaves together many narratives. First, it is a story of how members of a specific Peranakan organisation gathered annually to stage a theatrical production showcasing aspects of their culture. It is also a story of an endeavour to resuscitate the Peranakan community’s flagging fortunes and combat an increasing apathy among its young – which by the 1980s had become leitmotifs defining the state of the community; Ee Tiang Hong’s poem on the previous page is hence an appropriate epigraph. This thesis further tells a story about an iconic performance art situated, and intertwined, within a larger narrative of 1980s Singapore socio-political realities; how did it depict the Peranakan cultural heritage while at the same time adapting its presentation to fit the context? Who was involved in the production, what were the challenges its scriptwriters and directors faced and how did its audience respond to the performance? These are but some questions we will address as the story unfolds. -

Lauder and Allan F. Lauder Abstract The present paper reflects on Indonesia’s status as an archipelagic state and a maritime nation from a historical perspective. It explores the background of a multi-year research project into Indonesia’s maritime past currently being undertaken at the Humanities Faculty of Universitas Indonesia. The multidisciplinary research uses toponymy, epigraphy, philology, and linguistic lines of analysis in examining old inscriptions and manuscripts and also includes site visits to a number of old port cities across the archipelago. We present here some of the core concepts behind the research such as the importance of the ancient port cities in a network of maritime trade and diplomacy, and link them to some contemporary issues such as the Archipelagic Outlook. This is based on a concept of territorial integrity that reflects Indonesia’s national identity and aspirations. It is hoped that the paper can extend the discussion about efforts to make maritime affairs a strategic geopolitical goal along with restoring Indonesia’s identity as a maritime nation. Allan F. Lauder is a guest lecturer in the Post Graduate Linguistics Department program at the Humanities Faculty of the Universitas Indonesia. Allan obtained his MA in the English Language at the Department of English Language and Literature, National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, 1988 – 1990 and his Doctorate Degree in Applied Linguistics, English Language at Atma Jaya University.
