The Cloud Walk A walk from the Plough to the Bosley cloud.

Starting point: The Plough Inn, Road, , , CW12 2NH

Distance: 7.1 mile round journey

Estimated time: 3 hours

Please note that some of this Walk is on roads so always walk on the right side facing traffic and be cautious of any vehicles. This walk is also quite challenging at some points including steep inclines.

1 1. As you leave the Plough car park turn right and follow the road for 0.6 miles until you reach a left turn onto Havannah Lane just before the bus stop on the right.

2. Follow Havannah Lane for 0.4 miles. You will cross the then climb over the stile. Then 2 at the end of the lane, go across the fields following the path and then carry on to Crompton Close for around 100m before taking a left onto Malhamdale Road.

3. After 0.1 miles turn left to stay on Malhamdale Road and then turn right shortly after. This takes you on too Harvey road for about 100m before taking a left onto St Johns Road for ½ a mile.

4. After this you will reach a junction, turn left here onto Buxton Road for 0.2 miles before taking a slight right onto Middle Lane for 0.8 miles. Then continue on Pedley Lane for 0.6 miles and enjoy the countryside!

5. At the end of Pedley Lane turn left onto Tunstall Road for 0.2 miles. www.theploughinncheshire.com 6. After 0.2 miles you will see a sort of cross 6 roads, take the right up the hill on Red Lane.

7. Follow Red lane until you see a stone lay-by on your right (this is quite a climb!) and then follow the sign for Gritstone Trail up the stone path. Follow this path 7 until you come to Hillside Farm and go left, past Hillside Farm, then right, up a track to a stile.

8. There’s a National Trust sign, ‘The Cloud’. The path is narrow but clear, directly uphill then slanting right. It passes below some crags then levels out and dips slightly to the start of a broad shelf. A path now goes straight up the hillside, through the highest band of crags, to the summit ridge. The trig point is about 100yds to the left. 8 9. Enjoy the views! 9b
