D058 ASTBURY ST MARY MEMORIAL INSCRIPTIONS £12.00 Members and friends of the Congleton Group of the Family History Society of Cheshire led by Sue Parker have transcribed all the Memorial Inscriptions at St Mary, Astbury. There are two churchyards at St Mary's, the Old which surrounds the church and the New to the west, on the other side of the A34 road. Each is divided up into different plots: OA, OB, OC and S surround the church in the Old; A, B, C, CX, D, E, F, G and R are in the New. Memorial and other inscriptions inside the church are prefixed OW. This CD contains all the Memorial Inscriptions, together with plans of the various parts of the churchyards and also files detailing all those buried since 1892 whether there is a gravestone or not. The CD also records the place of burial of all those buried since 21st November 1892, together with the place of burial of all those who were buried before that date in a grave plot marked by a stone with a memorial inscription. The CD lists in grave order all the Memorial Inscriptions in the various parts of the churchyards, the list has been brought completely up to date as at 31st March 2007. It was originally available as a hand-written document on fiche, but the Society has computerised the index, and made it more easily accessible by publishing it on CD-ROM. Version 3 covers almost all the ancient Cheshire parishes up to 1837. As a bonus, this latest version of the disk now incorporates the Mid-Cheshire Marriage Index and Hartley Jones Wirral Marriage Index. The site is located off Tunstall Road which connects to the A523. The site is approximately 800m south west of Bosley and approximately 6km east of Congleton and 8km south of Macclesfield. The wood recycling facility lies on a linear strip of land which is located in a valley directly adjacent to the River Dane. It is characterised by a mixture of traditional red-bricked and modern steel framed industrial buildings with items of externally located processing plant and machinery and part of the facility is split by Tunstall Road. The site benefits from a substantial belt of natural screening provided by woodland aligning the River Dane to the west. The surrounding land is used for agriculture and there are two farms located to the east of the site, and a smaller industrial complex to the north.
