Without the referee we would not be able to enjoy the Game. The referee deserves respect at all times and there is no place for any form of abuse to be directed at the referee, either on or off the field. Players regularly make mistakes, and the match official is not perfect and he / she too will not always get it right. If the referee does make an error of judgement that should never the signal for abuse from a player, coach, official or a spectator. Remember that, in almost all cases the referee is a volunteer and provides a service to the game so that we can all enjoy it. People wanting to referee are in short supply, and one of the reasons given for the shortage of volunteers is, alleged abuse. PLEASE RESPECT THE REFEREE AT ALL TIMES. THE REFEREE The playing enclosure is out of bounds at all times except to those authorised to be there by the game regulations. Spectators are asked to remain behind the barriers (where they exist), and where pitches do not have a permanent barrier, you are requested to stand well back from IS AN the touch line. This will allow the touch judge to officiate without hindrance, and also reduce the probability of injury to any player or spectator in the event of a collision! INTEGRAL Whilst people are free to encourage their team it is expected that supporters will use moderate PART OF language so as not to intimidate or offend others. There have been instances, particularly at junior and youth games, where there has been encroachment on the field, or dubious verbal encouragement from parents. This is not a good example to set. Lads and lasses need the OUR freedom to express themselves on the field of play without any undue intimidation from the sidelines. GAME Carlisle RFC will not hesitate to take appropriate action where necessary, Have a great day, RESPECT PLEASE . 2 2 INSIDE THIS ISSUE Kendal 2 Mumblings 3 ABOVE - OCTOBER PLAYER OF MONTH - ALEX NEIL - AND WELL DESERVED IT WAS TOO Captain 4 MUMBLINGS Youth 9 For a week at least, we leave behind the rigours of the opening two months of league rugby. No rest though, with the 1st round of the Cumbria Cup likely to present a tough contest. Carlisle have waited a long time for a bit of cup success, and Kendal have not always been competitor’s in the county showpiece competition. Hopefully, the two Gossip 12 sides will put on a spectacle that will be a credit to the game, just as our recent league fixture. One thing is for sure, no one is likely to risk a wager on the outcome given the way results in North 1 West have thrown up a variety of unlikely outcomes. Taking for granted often ends in disappointment. Sponsors 30 Carlisle beat Kendal, Kendal vanquish Vale of Lune, and on that basis a neutral might take a chance on Carlisle turning out a shock at Pow- derhouse Lane. We could have done with a little more finesse and not a little disruption with injuries. ! TEAM LISTS 35 Many rugby folk (probably including some Kendalians) had Kendal down as the runaway leaders of North 1 West this term, but it looks as though one or two other sides have serious intentions for the next step on the promotion ladder! The league is still all to play for and we intend to have s say in it, Respect Code 36 whether or not we succeed ourselves! 3 MR PRESIDENT CAPTAIN COMMENTS Good afternoon; since the last time we were at home the clocks have changed; the weather has changed; but us letting games slip due to costly errors hasn’t changed. Last Saturday saw us lose on the road AT Vale of Lune by 25 pts to 20 pts, but grabbing a losing bonus point for the first time this season was a positive. The lads are learning from their experiences, and the game was a good display of character, albeit that we let it slip away. It means we now have to wait until next season for that victory at Powderhouse Lane, and that is an achievement I have pencilled into my radar! This week is a break from the league menu but it is not a foot off the gas, as today we wel- come back Kendal and they will arrive looking for revenge after the well fought out league Welcome to Warwick battle last month. Derby games bring out the best and the worst of people, and hope our lads Road for the match this are ready for the challenge ahead this afternoon, as we look to progress to the next stage of afternoon. It gives me the competition, and hopefully go that extra mile this year! very great pleasure to Lest we forget; tomorrow is Remembrance Sunday when we show our respect, and remember welcome my opposing those who have fought and lost real battles for our wellbeing.
