Now that Lhe dust has seuled on Courage League maLches, Birkenhead Park are faced with the prospect of playing their rugby aL a lower level nexL season after being relegated from Area League North. This is tough luck for Park who ended the league campaign very much up with the pack. However, as Club Spokesman Graeme Marrs points out, the club paid the penalty for throwin g away points in games against Preston Grasshoppers. However, Park will be looking for an early retum to the hi gher level, and wi ll be aiming to repeat the foml they showed in the league match against Stourbridge where they played superbly weil to tum a 13-4 deficit into a 14-1 3 victory injust 20 minutes. Away From the competiti ve press ures of league and cup rugby the other Park tcams have becn tuming Dul enthusias ti ca lly for what Graeme Marrs describes as 'Saturday aftemoon exercise and fellows hip'. Recently at Lhe club Jim Harty 's Rest of the World XV tackled the Hi lbre Islands in what was a very entertaining rugby display for charity. Looking ahead, Birkenhead Park will be seuing off for exotic locations next May when Lhcy visit th e Bahamas fo r a 14 day tour. Before then the club will be going on a pre-season tour down South, culminat ing in agame against Rosslyn Park at Roehampton. DAYS
