TRIATHLON COMPETITION Sunday 11th January 2015

You are invited to the SOHC Triathlon on Sunday 11th January 2015 at Shotover House, Shotover OX33 1QS (shoot and run) and School, , Headington, , OX3 7TD (swim phase).

* Associates (24 years and under on 1st Jan 2015) may compete in classes 1 and 2 as a member of a team (one per team only) or as an individual.There will also be a reduced run of 2000m for Senior Boys.

Swimming Class 1 4 minutes Class 2, 3 and 4 3 minutes Class 5, 6, 7, 9 2 minutes Class 8 1 minute Shooting Classes 1 & 2 10m, 1 handed, turning targets Classes 3 & 4 7m, 1 handed, turning targets Classes 5, 6, 7, 9 7m, 2 handed, static targets Class 8 Throw bean bags Running Class 1: 2000m. Classes 2, 3 & 4: 1500m. Classes 5, 6, 7, 9: 1000m. Class 8: 500m. The runs will be in numerical order within classes, at half-minute intervals. Refreshments Tea, coffee and cake available on site. Entry Fees • £15 per competitor classes 1-7 and 9. Tiddlers (Class 8) - £12. • Cheques made payable to SOHC Pony Club. • Entries through Team Managers only.

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES THURSDAY 1ST JANUARY 2015 Entries will be accepted from individuals or teams (of 3 or 4 competitors).

With the exception of adults, competitors must be members of the Pony Club. Adults will compete as Minis in mixed teams, but against their own sex in the individual competition and points will be awarded according to age.They must however be in some way associated with the Pony Club.

In any team the final score is the sum of the best three performances overall. Teams will be created by the organisers where appropriate, but will not be placed above branch teams. Pony Club Tetrathlon Rules (2014) will apply.

Shooting Tiddlers (under 8’s) do not shoot, they throw bean bags.

Loaders must be 18 years of age and over.

Pistols must be brought to the shooting tables in their boxes or cases and must not be uncased until the instruction is given to do so. Any breach of the safety rules may result in disqualification.

Swimming One coach/parent only at the end of each lane. Attention is drawn to the ASA advice contained in the Tetrathlon Rule Book.

All competitors must be able to swim unaided, but children in the Tiddlers (under 8’s) class will be accompanied in the water by competent swimmers, for safety reasons, in line with pool regulations (i.e.on a ratio of 1 adult to 2 under 8 competitors). Also in order to adhere to these regulations there will be no warm up for the under 8’s. Please advise if any Tiddler requires an outside lane.

Queries/Objections Through Team Managers only please.The Judges' decision will be final.

Prizes Trophies for class winners. Rosettes to 6th place for individuals, Mini, Tadpole and Under 8 teams, and to 4th place for other teams. Medals for individual phase winners. Team shields in several classes.

Health & Safety The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable steps to avoid and prevent accidents occurring. Instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards are to be obeyed.

Neither the organisers nor any person acting on their behalf, accept any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to competitors, spectators, or any person or property whatsoever. M40 from London:

Exit at junction 8 (East) and take the A40 towards Oxford. Take the first exit off the A40 (the slip road goes quickly into a right hand curve). Just as the curve ends, turn left towards Wheatley. Continue on this road for approximately 1.5 miles, going straight over one tiny mini roundabout and then at the second mini roundabout go straight ahead onto the slip road as if to rejoin the A40 towards Oxford. Near the bottom of the slip road, turn left onto the tarmac area and through the electrically operated gate (this is SATNAV waypoint OX33 1PB). Follow the drive across the fields over two further cattle grids and then turn left up the main drive (alongside the lake). Keep going straight and follow the SOHC signs.

From Oxford:

From the Headington roundabout (where the Oxford ring road joins the A40), take the A40 east towards London. Proceed straight over one set of traffic lights (by the park and ride) and then take the third turning on the left towards Holton and Wheatley (just after the B4027). As soon as you come off the A40, turn right and go up over the A40. On the other side of the bridge, at the mini roundabout turn right as if to rejoin the A40 towards. Near the bottom of the slip road, turn left onto the tarmac area and through the electrically operated gate (this is SATNAV waypoint OX33 1PB). Follow the drive across the fields over two further cattle grids and then turn left up the main drive (alongside the lake). Keep going straight and follow the SOHC signs.

Headington School, London Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 7TD

Please use the main entrance on Headley Way only. As you enter, follow the drive immediately round to the left which will pass in front of the main school building. Parking is by the astro turf (to the left of the main school building). Please do not attempt to access the parking closer to the pool as due to building works this is area is prohibited.

The pool is behind the astro turf. Prize giving and a rest area for competitors can be found in the Reading Room in the main building.

Oxford is currently awash with road works so please leave plenty of time for travelling between Shotover and Headington – approx. 30 mins.
