Whi ngham File In his 14th season as Utah’s head coach, Kyle Whittingham is the longest-tenured coach in the Pac-12 Conference and the third-longest tenured coach at the same school in the NCAA FBS. Whittingham, who came to Utah as an assistant coach in 1994, is in his 25th season on the Ute coaching staff . His 111-56 career head coaching record includes an 11-1 record in bowl games. His bowl win percentage (92%) is the best in NCAA history, while his 11 bowl wins ties for second among active coaches (one behind Alabama’s Nick Saban). Including ties, Whittingham ranks in the top-10 in all-time bowl victories by a head coach. The 2008 National Coach of the Year, Whittingham’s postseason success includes a 2-0 mark in BCS bowl games (2005 Fiesta Bowl vs. Pittsburgh, 2009 Sugar Bowl vs. Ala- bama). His teams have fi nished in the AP Top 25 fi ve times. He came to Utah in 1994 as the defensive line coach.
