A woman’s troubles are only beginning when she discovers that she’s been dead And, it squeaks and squeals and groans its way down the generations to thrill and for six years. GUNSMOKE TV CAST AND DETAILS Premiered: September 10, 1955, on CBS Rating: TV-PG Premise: This landmark adult Western centered on Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City. John Wayne turned down the lead, suggesting James Arness (who remained for its entire run). Originating on radio (with William Conrad as Dillon), it moved to TV in September 1955. Its popularity spawned a number of copycats, but none would enjoy the longevity (and few the consistent quality) of this classic. Airing for 20 years, it's TV's longest running prime-time drama (a record that `Law & Order' is currently chasing). • Have Gun Will Travel : the Complete Series
Have Gun Will Travel : The Complete Series SEASON TWO [Sneak Peek] “The Manhunter” September 13, 1958 ***** A The second season starts off in terrific form in this intense drama. It’s good to see the only HGWT appearance of Martin Balsam as Charlie Dawes, intent to revenge the death of one of his brothers, and Paladin’s death will be his satisfaction! Joseph Calleia is well cast as the old sheriff, Sam Truett. There’s Herrmann music in this strong episode but far more Garriguenc music. I will identify several of the clips. -2:22 thru 2:25 : Four-note HGWT motif adapted by Garriguenc. 1 -2:26 thru 3:30 : “The Ambush” (Western Suite) Bars 2-20, etc. Scene: Paladin on the trail encounters the object of his search, Jimmy Dawes. He ends up shooting him dead out of self-defense. The town, especially the other Dawes brothers, are hostile towards him when he arrives with the body. The seque at 3:42 is music I could not identify yet--but heard before! It is definitely not Herrmann. Scene: Paladin inspects the body of the man he just shot. -4:20 thru 5:28 : “Travel” (HGWT) Bars 1-12, 44-45. Scene: Paladin arrives in town with the body of Jimmy Dawes. -8:53 thru 9:06: “Middle Tag G” (Police Force) Bars 1-3 played twice. Scene: In the middle of the night at the hotel, Paladin is bushwhacked in his room by Ben Dawes (Hampton Fancher, a co-star of PARRISH) with a shotgun, but Paladin heard his approach in time.

  • Have Gun Will Travel : the Complete Series
Have Gun Will Travel : The Complete Series Season One [commence paper Friday, May 19, 2017 at 3:33 p, PDT]: Just as I just completed yesterday on the Rawhide : The Complete Series two-part paper, I will revisit Have Gun Will Travel (HGWT). I already discussed HGWT is two separate papers. One entry starting on page 139 that I wrote in 1999 is here: http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/herrmann/cbs_years.pdf The next paper in 2006/2007 is here: http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/herrmann/havegunwilltravel.pdf This second (latter) paper covered in great detail Seasons 1 thru 3. At the time, only the first three seasons were available on dvd. Just recently I purchased The Complete Series that I received on I believe April 20, 2017. Now that I am finished with Rawhide, I can now devote time & energy on updating the information and add images to Seasons 1 thru 3, and also write a rundown of the rest of the series.
