[email protected] Ruud have visited the museum in March plus another couple of places round beijing i will include a copy of my log for your ref . Datangshan museum no advance warning needed a car with a driver will cost you £60 for the day eg University museum 09.00 Datanshang 10.30 Great Wall 15.00 Hotel 18.00 if you are staying in a hotel they will fix this up for you Good Luck Al CHINA Problems abound here, with both the old and new forms of names being used. I have tried to indicate both where confusion is likely to occur. Note that CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) uses a numerical serialling system like military; their aircraft have not been included. One F-86 was donated by Pakistan by 00; its location is at present unknown. Beijing/Nan Yuan Airport (south of city) Mi-8 4211 was stored here in Oct99. Noted in GI use have been: 4210 Mil Mi-8 Oct99 Feb02 1058 An-12 Feb02 50853 Il-18 Feb02 10995 Y-5 Feb02 CUA-50959 An-24 Feb02 All this stuff is on a disused apron and may be some sort of preservation store !!! Trident 50050 (c/n 2132) may have come here from Dandong. See Military Museum Beijing - Aeronautical Institute 37 Xue Yuan Lu, Beijing 100083 (N suburbs of city) Open Tue-Sun 0830-1130, 1400-1700 Although not a formal museum, this site holds much of interest. Most of the aircraft are in a courtyard at the rear of the premises. There are a couple of sheds which probably hold the aircraft listed as stored. The J-8-II is a mock-up, mostly wood. One of the sheds at the back is full of microlights, the other looks like a classroom and contained the J-6 727 and one more which had most of its panels removed to display its inards. The IL-14 is ex. CAAC. In general the place is quite run down and there was nobody around that spoke English. It is a real museum ( it says so on the university map ) and it even has a shop.We did not read anything off the Harvard so it is assumed to be the one on your list!! Beijing - China Agricultural Museum Il-18 B-228 (ex 50855) is preserved here (95-Apr00).
