Assistant Coaches Scott Chenoweth

In his second year as Central Oklahoma’s head assistant coach is Scott Che- noweth, a former Division I All-American and highly-successful high school head coach. Chenoweth helped lead the Bronchos to a 13-5 dual record and ninth-place na- tional tournament finish in 2017-18. Scott enjoyed unprecedented success as head coach at perennial powerhouse Perry High School during a 16-year tenure from 1995-2011. He guided the Ma- roons to 12 state championships and 11 dual state titles in that span while coach- ing 42 individual state champions. Chenoweth served as USA Junior World Freestyle team coach in 2008 and 2010 and was a National Coach of the Year finalist in 2010. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for Lifetime Service to Wrestling in 2011. Chenoweth left coaching 2011, but continued as an administrator in Perry until 2017. Scott was a three-time state champion at Perry in addition to winning a Junior National Freestyle national title. He went on to have great success at the University of Nebraska, finishing as a three-time All-American for the Huskers. Scott is married (Sage) and has two children (Sebastian and Savannah). Eli Hale

National champion Eli Hale is the newest addition to the Central Oklahoma coaching staff, joining the program as an assistant coach in mid-May. Hale spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Oklahoma State before transferring to UCO for his senior season in 2017-18 and he was virtually untouch- able in rolling to the 125-pound national championship for the Bronchos. Eli rolled to a perfect 24-0 record, racking up 11 major decisions and seven tech- nical falls. He was named the MIAA Wrestler of the Year and NCAA Division II West Regional Wrestler of the Year. Hale outscored four opponents 60-8 in the regional tournament and then went 4-0 at the NCAA Division II Championships in becoming UCO’s 44th individual na- tional champion. He capped his career with a 16-1 technical fall in the national finals. Eli was a three-time letterman at OSU, placing in several tournaments during his tenure with the Cowboys. Hale was a prep standout at Miami High School, finishing with a 135-14 career record. He was a three-time state finalist, finishing second as a sophomore and junior before winning the title during his final year.
