FACULTY TRAVEL TO SALAMANCA UCONN NEUROSCIENCE IN SALAMANCA

Arrive At The International Airport (MAD) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madrid-Barajas_Airport There are four terminals. Terminals 1 and 4 are the international terminals and are connected by a free bus. Terminal 4 is the newest international terminal and 2 miles away from Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Terminals 2 and 4 are connected to the Madrid underground train system.

AT THE AIRPORT: 1. Clear passport control and pick up luggage. 2. Clear customs. Usually no inspection and no problem. Nevertheless, it may still take an hour to go through all this.

TWO OPTIONS FOR GOING TO SALAMANCA – BUS OR TRAIN We do not know about the availability of seats on the bus. The train is never full and does have restrooms.

OPTION 1 – TRAIN TO SALAMANCA 1- AIRPORT TO CHAMARTÍN TRAIN STATION Travel to the Chamartín train station either by the Renfe shuttle train C1. Buy ticket and board at terminal 4. Take C1 train two stops to the Chamartín station. Arrive at Chamartín station. Go upstairs to the lobby of the train station on to the ground level.

2 – TRAIN TO SALAMANCA (Chamartín Station) For train information see http://www.renfe.es Travel to Salamanca is from the Chamartín station in the business district of Madrid. It is convenient to buy tickets from the machine for Medium Distance trains.

On most days, trains will depart at: 08:30, 8:55, 11:08, 13:35, 15:30, 15:55, 17:57, 19:30, 20:35, 21:10, 21:50 (Not all trains run on Saturday and Sunday) There are two Salamanca stops. The first is the train station where you should get off and take a cab.

(On Sunday, the booth is closed. You must buy a ticket from the bus driver). Board the bus at Terminal 1 bus park area or Terminal 4 bus park.
