Marine training manual symbology Continue NATO standards for military map tagging symbols This article includes a general reference list, but it is still largely unverified because it lacks sufficient inline quotes. Please help improve this article by introducing more accurate quotes. (November 2009) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) The symbol of Poland's First Legion Infantry Division in modern NATO symbolizes NATO Alongside the Military Symbology is NATO standard for military map tagging symbols. Originally published in 1986 as The Publication of Allied Procedure 6 (APP-6), NATO's Military Symbol for Land-Based Systems, this standard has grown for years and is now in its fifth version (APP-6D). These symbols are designed to improve NATO's joint reliability by providing a standard set of general symbols. The APP-6 forms a joint military symboler system for land, air, space and formations and sea-based units, which can be displayed either for automatic map display systems or for manual map marking. It covers all joint services and can be used by them. The history of the symbol of the first basic military map was first used by western forces in decades following the end of the Napoleonic War. During World War I, there was a level of harmony between the British and French systems, including the use of red color for enemy and blue forces for allies; The British previously used red for friendly soldiers because of the traditional red coat of British soldiers. However, the system is now widely used based on those created by the U.S.

  • GURPS WWII Classic
World War II raged from the deserts of North Africa to the jungles of the South Pacific, from the mountaintops of the Alps to the beaches of Normandy, across (and under) the high seas, and through the skies above it all. Soldiers in all of these places relied upon the machines of war: bombers, fighters, tanks, jeeps, ships, submarines, landing craft, and much more. GURPS WWII: Motor Pool has a huge variety of historically accurate vehicles from mankind’s greatest conflict. Many of the vehicles were common; others were rare or even unique. From the stodgy General Lee tank to the earliest helicopters and the wildly impractical Maus, Motor Pool has tons of new gear for every GURPS WWII player. Motor Pool also gathers in one place all the refinements to the vehicle design system that have evolved since the original corebook came out, as well as a new system to describe any WWII-era conveyance in a few simple steps. These additions include scores of new weapons to be fitted on your war machines – some historical and some products of the imagination. On top of all that, Motor Pool has advice on S how to integrate vehicles into a roleplaying T E campaign, with details on how vehicle crews V really lived and fought, from the difficulties of E supply to getting their machine moving at all. '^"'^^«^.;^c_x rOFWORLD •WKR II itliiro>iiiiii|r«trMit^i^'it-ri>i«fiinit(i*<j|yM«.<'i|*.*>' mk a ^. N. WESTWOOD nCHTING C1TTDC or WORLD World War II was the last of the great naval wars, the culmination of a century of warship development in which steam, steel and finally aviation had been adapted for naval use. The battles, both big and small, of this war are well known, and the names of some of the ships which fought them are still familiar, names like Bismarck, Warspite and Enterprise. This book presents these celebrated fighting ships, detailing both their war- time careers and their design features. In addition it describes the evolution between the wars of the various ship types : how their designers sought to make compromises to satisfy the require - ments of fighting qualities, sea -going capability, expense, and those of the different naval treaties. Thanks to the research of devoted ship enthusiasts, to the opening of government archives, and the publication of certain memoirs, it is now possible to evaluate World War II warships more perceptively and more accurately than in the first postwar decades. The reader will find, for example, how ships in wartime con- ditions did or did not justify the expecta- tions of their designers, admiralties and taxpayers (though their crews usually had a shrewd idea right from the start of the good and bad qualities of their ships). With its tables and chronology, this book also serves as both a summary of the war at sea and a record of almost all the major vessels involved in it.

Введение По словам немецкого историка: «Военное положение Германии, после разгрома под Сталинградом, к декабрю 1943 года стало очень тяжелым.
