Helping Those Affected by Recent Acts of Terror in Israel

We all feel the pain of the Jewish people as we experience ongoing terror attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with the people of Israel during this difficult time. Here are a few things we can do to support our people and beloved homeland in their time of need:

1) There is great power in communal prayer. We as a shul must pray for the well-being of the State of Israel, for the security of its citizens, for the healing of victims of terror both emotionally and physically, and for the safety of the soldiers of the IDF. Towards that effort: a) KMS will be reciting Tehillim at Shacharit (Ch.20), Mincha/Maariv (Ch.121), and Late Maariv (Ch.121) minyanim. b) There will be a community Tehillim gathering organized by the Vaad Harabanim of Greater Washington at 5:30pm on Sunday evening (10/18) at Young Israel Shomrai Emunah (1132 Arcola). Please make every effort to attend this important event. c) Continue to pray individually for Israel. You may include these thoughts in your regular amidah prayers and you may also choose to recite Tehillim. Some appropriate chapters include: 20, 46, 56, 64, 68, 121, 130, 144.

2) Consult the list of Tzedaka opportunities that was put together by the KMS Israel Committee which lists organizations in Israel that will accept donations during this time and direct them to the families of victims or to helping the efforts of the soldiers of the IDF. Click here for the list.

3) Contact friends and family and let them know that they are in our hearts and prayers. Our brothers and sisters in Israel need to know that they are no alone and that we proudly stand with Israel.

May Hashem answer our prayers and bring lasting peace to Israel and the world. May we hear good news very soon.
