This production list is presented to you by the editorial team of "Soviet Transports" - current to the beginning of January 2021. Additions and corrections are welcome at [email protected] Arado Ar 234 "Blitz" in Soviet service Soviet troops captured one example of the world's first jet bomber in northern Germany in spring 1945 (Russian sources state that it was found at Pütnitz in March, but Pütnitz was occupied by the Red Army only on 2 May). The aircraft underwent short trials at Rechlin in early 1946, but suffered from repeated engine problems. As the Soviet specialists involved in the trials were not impressed by the "Blitz" they refrained from sending it to the Soviet Union. It is probable that further Ar 234s (especially of the Ar 234C-3 version) fell into Soviet hands when the Red Army captured the Arado factory at Alt-Lönnewitz (Brandenburg) on 24 April 1945. One Russian source states that one Ar 234B and one Ar 234C were despatched to the Soviet Union where they underwent comprehensive study - in particular, one of the aircraft was thoroughly examined by BNT, the Bureau of New Technology. One of the captured Ar 234s was restored to airworthy condition in 1946 and used by the LII for testing brake parachutes. 140355 no code Ar 234B-2 Soviet Air Force f/f 30nov44 previously opb KG 76 of the German Air Force; in dark green/brown purple camo c/s with light grey undersides, the last letter of the unit code may have been an 'F'; captured by Soviet troops in damaged condition (after a forced landing) reportedly at Pütnitz mar45, but

The BMW 003 jet engine In the late 1930s the aviation industry underwent a technical revolution as German and British engineers began the race to build the fi rst jet engines. The new technology represented a quantum leap forward for powered fl ight. And at the dawn of the jet age BMW was a world leader in engine development. Christian Pierer Continuous improvements to airframes and engines through- Daimler-Benz – a DB 601 ReV unit delivering 2,770 hp – enjoyed out the first half of the 20th century brought a steady increase in a lifespan of just a few minutes. The record nevertheless marked aircraft flying speed. In spring 1939 a Messerschmitt Me 209 set a watershed since it demonstrated that, given the technological a new speed record for a propeller-engined plane of 755 km/h, limitations of the day, speeds above 800 km/h were not possible even if the purpose-built high-performance engine supplied by using propeller or piston engines. 46 BMW Mobile Tradition I Aero engines Engineers therefore increasingly turned their attention to the two companies that successfully took jet engines to series alternative concepts of propulsion, one of which in particular was production. considered highly promising – the jet engine. Looking back at those PRODUCTS twelve months, it was a very productive year for Squadron with many exciting things happening. In 2016, we took on various new lines like Takom, MiniArt, Yahu, and Abteilung 502 to name a few. We are happy to announce this month that Bronco (found on pages 26-27) is now part of our offerings as well as an expanded selection from Minicraft (pg 7). We plan to have at least one new line every month in 2017. Our biggest announcement yet is the launch of our first major kit that will be available in the next coming weeks, the HAUNEBU II German flying saucer! The release of the Haunebu kit will be an exciting event that will reveal a darker saga in the history of spacecraft with all the elements of WW2... occultism, inter- planetary technology, secrecy and mystique combined in one. No matter if you are an aircraft, armor or ship modeler, this piece will spark your imagination and curiosity!
