2019.1.11 (1/2) World Premiere of the COPEN GR SPORT CONCEPT at Tokyo Auto Salon 2019 Front Rear Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) has given the COPEN GR SPORT CONCEPT mini convertible sports concept vehicle its world premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2019, which started today. The COPEN is a mini convertible sports vehicle that utilizes a new D-Frame framework and Dress-Formation changeable interior and exterior structure to realize impressive driving performance and enable owners to express their individuality. It is available in three distinct designs: the COPEN Robe, launched in June 2014, followed by the COPEN XPLAY, and the COPEN Cero. The COPEN Coupe is being exhibited at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2019, and order applications will be accepted via a dedicated website from 2 p.m., today. The COPEN GR SPORT CONCEPT is a new concept car that Daihatsu is developing in collaboration with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing—part of Toyota Motor Corporation (hereinafter “Toyota”)—with a view to future commercialization. In order to respond to customer requests for improved driving performance, Daihatsu is leveraging TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s expertise via personnel exchanges and other means; the company aims to develop a car that feels good to drive and whose handling responds accurately to driver input, and is particularly focused on increasing body rigidity and tuning the suspension. The front of the COPEN GR SPORT CONCEPT features the same Functional MATRIX front grille used by some of the vehicles in Toyota’s GR line-up; at the same time, the cabin sports special Recaro seats and instrument panels to realize a high-quality interior space. -

February7, 2019 Toyota Motor Corporation GAZOO Racing Company TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Outlines 2019 Motorsports Activities TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is a racing company positioning motorsports activities as the basis of our quest to create ever-better cars. From products developed through these activities to the establishment of the GR Garage, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s motorsports activities have been promoted as a comprehensive method of increasing numbers of car fans. At last month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we unveiled the new “Supra,” which is set to become the first global model in the GR series line-up. The new Supra incorporates the knowledge and know-how that TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has accumulated thus far, and has been developed with the goal of enabling customers to fully experience the joy of driving. We have positioned the new Supra as our flagship model and, by feeding back knowledge gained through motorsports activities into the development of new products, we intend to further expand the GR series line-up. In 2018, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing achieved the long-desired goal of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans and also secured the WRC manufacturers’ title, demonstrating that the challenges we have embarked on are leading to concrete results. However, we will not rest on our laurels. In order to deliver the anticipation and excitement of driving to a wider audience, we will engage in the motorsports activities listed below in 2019. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will compete in the 2019-2020 WEC season. (The driver line-up will be announced at a later date.)With team line-ups, we will also compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race and other races in Japan respectively. -

Master Driver Morizo, Seorang Presiden Toyota Sekaligus Pembalap Mobil Komitmen Toyota yang dengan filosofi making ever-better cars bukanlah gimmick marketing semata. Ada 2 metode yang dipakai oleh Toyota dalam menguji dan mengembangkan sebuah kendaraan baru. Yang pertama tentunya dengan memperoleh langsung input dari konsumen melalui semangat Genchi Genbutsu atau “mengumpulkan fakta langsung dari sumbernya”. Di Indonesia, metode ini berhasil diterapkan saat pengembangan Kijang sejak generasi pertama di tahun 1977 hingga sekarang tetap menjadi mobil pilihan keluarga Indonesia dari generasi ke generasi. Kijang tidak akan mencapai posisi seperti sekarang jika sejak awal tidak mengamati dan memenuhi kebutuhan sebagaian besar keluarga Indonesia. Di mana daya angkut luas merupakan rujukan utama supaya dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pergi sekeluarga saat berlibur ataupun mudik. Di sini Kijang berhasil menyajikannya dengan cara yang pas dan tetap menjaga fungsionalitas sebagai MPV. Kebutuhan lain seperti irit bensin namun tetap bertenaga ditambah keandalan dan ketangguhan di berbagai situasi dan kondisi dibuktikan secara nyata seiring waktu. Metode kedua adalah melalui arena balap di mana mobil balap Toyota ditekan hingga limit tertinggi dalam kondisi penuh tantangan ekstrem untuk melihat seberapa tangguh komponen mobil yang digunakan. Database berupa informasi teknis dan pengalaman engineer Toyota yang terlibat dimasukkan ke dalam langkah pengembangan untuk menciptakan mobil yang lebih baik di masa depan. Keseriusan di dunia balap sejak dulu dibuktikan dengan partisipasi Toyota di ajang Mobilgas Round Australia Rally tahun 1957.
