Lord Srimannarayana Himself opens the Uttara Dwaram (North Gate) of His abode Vaikuntham on Shukla Paksha in Dhanurmasam and invites all and Goddesses into Vaikuntham to bestow them with .

As per Sriprashna Samhita from Paancharaatra Aagama , during the begininning of Srishti (creation), Lord Srimannarayana gave Chatur- (four- Vedas) to Lord for creation. In the creation process, when Lord Brahma fell into momentary sleep, His Rajasic and Tamasic gunas (qualities) turned into demons Madhu and Kaitabha. They came out Brahma's ears, stole the Chatur vedas and stored them inside the ocean. Lord assumed Matsyaavatara (Divine-Fish) and defeated the demons and returned the Vedas to Brahma. Srimannarayana offered the demons one boon but they asked for two. When Lord granted, firstly they asked for their Moksha and secondly to grant Moksha to all devotees who take Darshan to Lord's Archaa swaroopam through Uttara Dwaram on this Vaikuntha Ekadashi day. Hence, Lord Srimannarayana fulfilled both of their wishes by opening the Vishesha Uttara Dwaram for all devotees.

Three crore Devatas also eagerly wait at the opening of vishesha Uttara Dwaram to obtain Moksha. Hence, this is also called Mukkoti Ekadasi. Also Namma Alwar Moksham is observed. On this Vaikuntha Ekadasi, all devotees who take head bath, wear clean clothes and have Darshan of Lord Srimannarayana through Uttara Dwaram in a temple will certainly obtain Moksha.
