Pray for our missionaries that God would bless, protect, provide, encourage, give strength and bold- nes, and lead many lost people to Christ. Kids, every Sunday morning in ”Big Church,” Pastor Jeff has all the people in the service, your mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles stand and read a Psalm together with him before preaching. So why don’t we do this together right now before we get into the lesson. If you have your , you and your parents can read Psalm 91 as a prayer over your family during this time when so many people are scared because of the sickness going around. If you don’t have a Bible, you can read the following:

This Week’s Lesson: Remember He Lives “THE RESURRECTION” But first . . . Review the Lesson From Last Week AS YOU GO THROUGH THE LESSON, YOU WILL SEE A SERIES OF PICTURES WITH A SCRIPTURE VERSE AND A QUESTION.

FIRST, READ THE VERSE, STUDY THE PICTURE THEN ANSWER THE QUESTION.

Who went into the tomb IT WOULD BE GREAT John 20:6,7 first, and what did he see ? IF YOUR PARENTS WOULD GO THROUGH BEFORE YOU START, PRAY THIS WITH YOU IN AND ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT CASE YOU HAVE TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND! QUESTIONS. Why did die? To take away our sins! He was punished so we wouldn’t have to be!

“For He (the Father) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” II Corinthians 5:21 JESUS took ALL my sins upon Himself on the cross! And not just mine, but the sins of the whole world! I John 2:2

And JESUS gave me a new heart! But it’s your CHOICE if you want to accept His free gift of salvation! Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his Friends. John 15:13 JESUS calls YOU His friend! How cool is that! John 15:15 What kind of people were at the cross?

Rulers who hated Him Friends who loved Him

Soldiers and others who didn’t care Even though He was dying for them, what did all those passing by say to mock :29-32 Him as He hung on the cross? What did Jesus ask His Father to do to those hateful Luke 22:34 people who crucified Him? In the Bible, what did Jesus say about ”Forgiveness?” :14,15 What crime had those who :38 were crucified with Him done? Name some of the strange things that happened when He died?

Matthew 27:45 Matthew 27:51 One special thing made the death of the Lord Jesus different from that Luke 23:46 of any other person. What was it? When Jesus was separated from His Father because of Mark 15:34 our sin, what did He cry out? John 19:38,39 Who buried the body of Jesus? This weeks Memory Verse:

Matthew 28:6 ”He is not here: for He is risen as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” ”He is not here: for He is risen as He said.”

“ . . . AS HE SAID.” Jesus told His disciples that He would be crucified, but would be “raised up” on the third day! Matthew 20:19 “Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” And guess what kids! . . . The tomb is still empty today! :6 ”He is not here: for He is risen as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

This Week’s Lesson: Remember He Lives “The Resurrection” Scriptures: Matthew 28:1-15 Mark 16:1-14 Luke 23:56-24:12 John 20:1-21 Okay, kids! Get your and let’s read the story of the ! The story of the Resurrection is in all four ! In fact, the stories / events about Jesus’ life are all written down in the four gospels. (The first four books of the ) Make it your goal to read all four while you’re out of school due to the corona virus! We’ll begin this lesson here, in the first book of the New Testament: When we left the story last week, the chief priests left a “Roman guard” to guard Matthew 27:65,66 the sealed tomb of Jesus. What great duty! Yah, and it’s the How hard can it weekend, so be to guard a we’ll be getting dead guy? Ha! overtime pay! Ha!

They had no idea what this “easy assignment” was going to be, and it would be the greatest event of all history! Who were the first followers Matthew 28:1 of Jesus to come to the tomb (Mark 16:1; Luke 24:1) on Sunday? Who rolled the huge stone away from Jesus’ tomb? Matthew 28:2,3 How many soldiers Matthew 28:4 fought with the ? Jesus didn’t need an angel to let Him out, but to let the women look inside! They knew they were no Matthew 28:4 match for this angelic being! What do you think was going through the minds of the women? What was the first thing Matthew 28:5 the angel said to the women? Matthew 28:6 What did the angel (Our memory verse) invite the women to do? Come . . . See! Matthew 28:7 What did the angel tell the women to go and do? “COME . . . SEE!” “GO . . . TELL!”

Isn’t that what YOU and I are supposed to do as well? Mark 15:15 What were the women feeling Matthew 28:8 as they left the ? On their way to tell the disciples, Matthew 28:9 who did the women run into? Showing how much He loved them, what did Jesus tell the women? ? Matthew 28:10 ”DO NOT BE ______!” If a missionary is one who is sent out to preach the gospel and tell others about Jesus, then who were the very first missionairies? WOMEN

So girls, don’t ever think that the boys are the only ones who can be used by God! The women played just as big a part in the resurrection story as all the men did, including the disciples! But according to Mark 16:11, NOT ONE OF THE DISCIPLES BELIEVED HER! And according to Mark 16:12,13, two men ran into Jesus on the road to Emmaus and ran back to tell the disciples. DID THE DISCIPLES BELIEVE THOSE TWO MEN? NEWS-FLASH!

Everyone picks on poor Thomas for not believing, and even today he is nick-named “Doubting Thomas!”

But as scripture shows, THEY ALL WERE DOUBTERS until they saw Jesus with their own eyes!

So if you have a friend called Thomas, QUIT PICKING ON HIM! How did the guards explain to the Matthew 28:11,12 chief priests what had happened? How sad that these guards, who were RIGHT THERE when the tomb was opened, didn’t look inside and recognize that JESUS was the Son of God, like the centurion at the cross when he saw how Jesus died! What did the chief priests tell the guards to say if ever asked Matthew 28:13-15 what happened at the tomb? Side Note: How would sleeping people know what really happened? Would it be likely that all the soldiers were sleeping at the same time? Would Roman soldiers risk incriminating themselves for a large bribe, knowing the penalty for sleeping on duty was DEATH? And doesn’t it just blow your mind that the religious leaders were so hard-hearted, that even after hearing what REALLY happened, THEY STILL DIDN’T BELIEVE!!! Talk About We’ll continue in the fourth book of the New Testament: Who were the first ones the John 20:2 women ran to with the news that Jesus had risen? Who were the two disciples that ran to the tomb? John 20:3,4 Note: “The Jesus loved” is how John referred to himself. Who got there first John 20:4,5 and what did he do? Who went into the tomb John 20:6,7 first, and what did he see ? John 20:8-10 What was the reaction of John when he entered the tomb? Aren’t you glad that you don’t have to go find His tomb and look inside in order to believe that JESUS rose from the dead?

Aren’t you glad God’s Word, the Bible, tells you that He did rise from the dead, and that the Holy Spirit can confirm it in your heart? Jesus reveals Himself and speaks to us through His Word, the Bible! II Timothy 3:16

You may not SEE Him physically, but He is always with you, His Holy Spirit lives inside you! I Corinthians 6:19 John 20:11 After Peter and John left the tomb, who stayed outside? Who did Mary see inside the tomb John 20:12,13 and what did she say to them? Who did Mary think Jesus John 20:14,15 was when she first saw Him? John 20:16

Can you IMAGINE the joy and the chills she felt when she heard JESUS say her name and recognized His voice? Why did Jesus ask her John 20:17 to stop clinging to Him? Can you imagine how hard that would be, to let go of the one who changed your life! But you know He assured her He would see her again soon. Where did Mary go immediately John 20:18 after she left Jesus? Finally, Jesus shows Himself to John 20:19 His disciples. Where were they? What did Jesus say to them to John 20:19 make them stop being afraid? Jesus’ message is timeless . . .

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; Not as the world gives, Do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, Nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3 What did His disciples do after they John 20:20 saw His scared hands, feet and side? John 20:21 When Jesus says something to you more than once, He’s trying to get your attention. What did He say to them a second time? He also said, ”As the Father has sent Me, I also send YOU! Where do you think He is sending YOU?

And according to John 14:27 He is sending you IN HIS PEACE! What a wonderful, loving Saviour we have!

Even in the midst of this Corona Virus we can have HIS PEACE! Read Phillipians 4:6,7

“We got nothin’ to worry about, but A LOT to pray about!” And the best news is, this is all possible because JESUS was crucified, buried and rose from the grave that first Resurrection Sunday! DO YOU BELIEVE? Do you know Jesus personally? If not, would you like to? How can I know JESUS? What do I have to do to be saved? The Bible tells us what we must do!

“For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE GIFT of God IS ETERNAL LIFE in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 “That if you CONFESS with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be SAVED!” Romans 10:9 Don’t just make Him your Saviour, But make Him your LORD as well!

MAKE HIM BOSS! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 BE A “WHOSOEVER”? So, are you ready to ask JESUS to be YOUR Lord and Saviour?

Then let’s do what all those verses said to do! 1. Acknowledge you are a sinner, repent and turn from your sin. Tell Jesus you’re sorry and ask Him to help you change. 2. Believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and trust that Jesus paid the full penalty for your sins. 3. Confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and surrender your life to Him. 4. Receive Jesus as your Savior, and believe that God has come into your life. If it is your sincere desire to receive Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior, then talk to God from your heart. The precise words you use are not important. He knows the intentions of your heart. If you are unsure of what to pray, this might help you put it into words: “Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to make me a new creation and to prepare me to dwell in your presence forever. Jesus, I repent of my sin and turn to you. Please come into my life, forgive my sins and save me. I trust in You for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life.” In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen! You just went from this:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 These basic practices will help you grow closer to Christ, love Him more, and help you share His love with others: 1. Read God’s Word (the Bible) daily – this is how He speaks to you. As you learn more about Him and obey His Word, you will become more like Him. 2. Pray daily – “Teach us to pray,” the disciples asked Jesus, and He taught them the simple prayer in Luke 11:1-4. Prayer is simply talking with God. 3. Share your faith – once you have experienced new life in Christ, you will want to share His love and forgiveness with others. 4. Attend a Bible-believing church – this will help you grow in your new life in Christ, as you learn from the teaching of God’s Word, and be encouraged together with other believers.
