Pray that the unsaved will seek after God! Strong in faith Grounded in God’s Word and prayer Provide for them and their family Healing Love their persecutors “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15 Pray for our missionaries that God would bless, protect, provide, encourage, give strength and bold- nes, and lead many lost people to Christ. Kids, every Sunday morning in ”Big Church,” Pastor Jeff has all the people in the service, your mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles stand and read a Psalm together with him before preaching. So why don’t we do this together right now before we get into the lesson. If you have your Bible, you and your parents can read Psalm 91 as a prayer over your family during this time when so many people are scared because of the sickness going around. If you don’t have a Bible, you can read the following: This Week’s Lesson: Remember He Lives “THE RESURRECTION” But first . Review the Lesson From Last Week AS YOU GO THROUGH THE LESSON, YOU WILL SEE A SERIES OF PICTURES WITH A SCRIPTURE VERSE AND A QUESTION. FIRST, READ THE VERSE, STUDY THE PICTURE THEN ANSWER THE QUESTION. Who went into the tomb IT WOULD BE GREAT John 20:6,7 first, and what did he see ? IF YOUR PARENTS WOULD GO THROUGH BEFORE YOU START, PRAY THIS WITH YOU IN AND ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT CASE YOU HAVE TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND! QUESTIONS. Why did Jesus die? To take away our sins! He was punished so we wouldn’t have to be! “For He (the Father) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” II Corinthians 5:21 JESUS took ALL my sins upon Himself on the cross! And not just mine, but the sins of the whole world! I John 2:2 And JESUS gave me a new heart! But it’s your CHOICE if you want to accept His free gift of salvation! Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his Friends. John 15:13 JESUS calls YOU His friend! How cool is that! John 15:15 What kind of people were at the cross? Rulers who hated Him Friends who loved Him Soldiers and others who didn’t care Even though He was dying for them, what did all those passing by say to mock Mark 15:29-32 Him as He hung on the cross? What did Jesus ask His Father to do to those hateful Luke 22:34 people who crucified Him? In the Bible, what did Jesus say about ”Forgiveness?” Matthew 6:14,15 What crime had those who Matthew 27:38 were crucified with Him done? Name some of the strange things that happened when He died? Matthew 27:45 Matthew 27:51 One special thing made the death of the Lord Jesus different from that Luke 23:46 of any other person. What was it? When Jesus was separated from His Father because of Mark 15:34 our sin, what did He cry out? John 19:38,39 Who buried the body of Jesus? This weeks Memory Verse: Matthew 28:6 ”He is not here: for He is risen as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” ”He is not here: for He is risen as He said.” “ . AS HE SAID.” Jesus told His disciples that He would be crucified, but would be “raised up” on the third day! Matthew 20:19 “Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” And guess what kids! . The tomb is still empty today! Matthew 28:6 ”He is not here: for He is risen as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” This Week’s Lesson: Remember He Lives “The Resurrection” Scriptures: Matthew 28:1-15 Mark 16:1-14 Luke 23:56-24:12 John 20:1-21 Okay, kids! Get your Bibles and let’s read the story of the Resurrection of JESUS! The story of the Resurrection is in all four gospels! In fact, the stories / events about Jesus’ life are all written down in the four gospels. (The first four books of the New Testament) Make it your goal to read all four while you’re out of school due to the corona virus! We’ll begin this lesson here, in the first book of the New Testament: When we left the story last week, the chief priests left a “Roman guard” to guard Matthew 27:65,66 the sealed tomb of Jesus. What great duty! Yah, and it’s the How hard can it weekend, so be to guard a we’ll be getting dead guy? Ha! overtime pay! Ha! They had no idea what this “easy assignment” was going to be, and it would be the greatest event of all history! Who were the first followers Matthew 28:1 of Jesus to come to the tomb (Mark 16:1; Luke 24:1) on Sunday? Who rolled the huge stone away from Jesus’ tomb? Matthew 28:2,3 How many soldiers Matthew 28:4 fought with the angel? Jesus didn’t need an angel to let Him out, but to let the women look inside! They knew they were no Matthew 28:4 match for this angelic being! What do you think was going through the minds of the women? What was the first thing Matthew 28:5 the angel said to the women? Matthew 28:6 What did the angel (Our memory verse) invite the women to do? Come . See! Matthew 28:7 What did the angel tell the women to go and do? “COME . SEE!” “GO . TELL!” Isn’t that what YOU and I are supposed to do as well? Mark 15:15 What were the women feeling Matthew 28:8 as they left the empty tomb? On their way to tell the disciples, Matthew 28:9 who did the women run into? Showing how much He loved them, what did Jesus tell the women? ? Matthew 28:10 ”DO NOT BE __________!” If a missionary is one who is sent out to preach the gospel and tell others about Jesus, then who were the very first missionairies? WOMEN So girls, don’t ever think that the boys are the only ones who can be used by God! The women played just as big a part in the resurrection story as all the men did, including the disciples! But according to Mark 16:11, NOT ONE OF THE DISCIPLES BELIEVED HER! And according to Mark 16:12,13, two men ran into Jesus on the road to Emmaus and ran back to tell the disciples. DID THE DISCIPLES BELIEVE THOSE TWO MEN? NEWS-FLASH! Everyone picks on poor Thomas for not believing, and even today he is nick-named “Doubting Thomas!” But as scripture shows, THEY ALL WERE DOUBTERS until they saw Jesus with their own eyes! So if you have a friend called Thomas, QUIT PICKING ON HIM! How did the guards explain to the Matthew 28:11,12 chief priests what had happened? How sad that these guards, who were RIGHT THERE when the tomb was opened, didn’t look inside and recognize that JESUS was the Son of God, like the centurion at the cross when he saw how Jesus died! What did the chief priests tell the guards to say if ever asked Matthew 28:13-15 what happened at the tomb? Side Note: How would sleeping people know what really happened? Would it be likely that all the soldiers were sleeping at the same time? Would Roman soldiers risk incriminating themselves for a large bribe, knowing the penalty for sleeping on duty was DEATH? And doesn’t it just blow your mind that the religious leaders were so hard-hearted, that even after hearing what REALLY happened, THEY STILL DIDN’T BELIEVE!!! Talk About We’ll continue in the fourth book of the New Testament: Who were the first ones the John 20:2 women ran to with the news that Jesus had risen? Who were the two disciples that ran to the tomb? John 20:3,4 Note: “The disciple Jesus loved” is how John referred to himself. Who got there first John 20:4,5 and what did he do? Who went into the tomb John 20:6,7 first, and what did he see ? John 20:8-10 What was the reaction of John when he entered the tomb? Aren’t you glad that you don’t have to go find His tomb and look inside in order to believe that JESUS rose from the dead? Aren’t you glad God’s Word, the Bible, tells you that He did rise from the dead, and that the Holy Spirit can confirm it in your heart? Jesus reveals Himself and speaks to us through His Word, the Bible! II Timothy 3:16 You may not SEE Him physically, but He is always with you, His Holy Spirit lives inside you! I Corinthians 6:19 John 20:11 After Peter and John left the tomb, who stayed outside? Who did Mary see inside the tomb John 20:12,13 and what did she say to them? Who did Mary think Jesus John 20:14,15 was when she first saw Him? John 20:16 Can you IMAGINE the joy and the chills she felt when she heard JESUS say her name and recognized His voice? Why did Jesus ask her John 20:17 to stop clinging to Him? Can you imagine how hard that would be, to let go of the one who changed your life! But you know He assured her He would see her again soon.
