INTRODUCTION

Look beneath the surface of the world – the world that includes your clothes, skin, material possessions and everything you can see - and you will discover a universe of swirling and subtle energies. These are the energies that underlie physical reality – they form you and everything you see. Many scientific studies have been done on subtle energies, as well as the human subtle system, in an attempt to verify and understand how everything fits together. What is interesting to note is that even though the subtle energy systems on the earth have been verified scientifically as existing and even given names, scientists are only able to explain how some of them work. Even though we do not fully comprehend the enormity and absolute amazingness of these energies, they form an integral part of life as we know it. These various energy systems still exist regardless of whether you “believe in them” or not (unlike Santa Claus). You can liken them to micro-organisms that were unable to be seen before the invention of the microscope – they couldn’t be seen, but they killed people anyway. We, and everything in the universe, is made of energy, which can be defined most simply as “information that vibrates”. What’s more interesting is that everything vibrates at its own unique frequency / speed, for example, a brain cell vibrates differently than a hair cell, and similar organisms vibrate in similar ways, but retain a slightly different frequency than the other. There are two basic types of energies: physical and subtle. For those of you that are interested in quantum physics and all things scientific, the core evidence for subtle energies in general includes the following, which is a mere fraction of the thousands of studies conducted by universities (MIT and other prestigious institutions), research laboratories and even NASA1:

Use of various magnetic devices such as the superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) for perceiving electromagnetic energies beyond the bounds of the

body. A process that embeds a human intention onto a simple electrical device, thus showing the effects of thought on physicality.

Various experiments using inorganic, organic, and living materials that reveal a unique, secondary level of physical reality affected by human intention.

Measurement of meridians and chakra systems, representative subtle channels and energy bodies (including the aura), revealing that they operate at higher levels of electromagnetism than the rest of the body.

The determination of L-fields and T-fields, or electrical life and thought fields, which organise subtle energies. The big question then, is why are we unable to see these subtle energies? Unfortunately, human senses operate within a narrow range on the electromagnetic spectrum, which is the measurable band of energy that produces various types of light. We can, however, learn how to sense certain of these energies and some people are even able to perceive the higher levels of the aura with their physical eyes. Subtle energy fields emanate from every living source, including human cells, organs, and bodies, as well as plants and animals. There are also subtle fields in the earth and natural physical fields in the earth and skies that affect our subtle fields. In addition to this, there are also artificially produced fields, such as those emitted by power lines, radio transmitters and cellphones, that affect our subtle fields. Before going too in-depth here and perhaps cause confusion, let’s start having a look at some of the subtle energy fields, being the Aura and the Chakras.

Please read through the separate booklets entitled “The Chakras” (videos also included), and “The Aura” to give you a better understanding of the human subtle energetic system, as well as attempting the Energy Sensing Exercises, which can be done alone or with a friend.

What Does Psychic Even Mean? According to Webster’s New World Dictionary, the term Psychic means:

of or having to do with the psyche, or beyond natural or known physical processes apparently sensitive to forces beyond the physical world

Psychic work is anything that involves sensitivity to non-physical or nature. Before we can understand what psychic work is, we have to understand what it is not. The normal means for gathering and processing information relies on our five senses (sight, taste, hearing, touch, smell) and our logical/linear brain. Psychic work is the process of obtaining information not using these methods. In psychic work, extra-sensory (beyond the senses) methods are used to gain insight to people, events or situations that would otherwise not be available to the normal range of senses. An example of this would be reading the personality of someone who has not yet been met, therefore negating the possibility of logically assessing them using the five senses. Psychic work is often described by those who are psychic in terms of the extra-sensory way in which they receive insight. Examples include clairvoyance (seeing without the physical eyes), clairaudience (hearing without the physical ears) and clairsentience (feeling without the physical body itself). This may seem confusing, but think of it this way: The physical senses are only physical/material expressions of spiritual senses. Just like electricity precedes the toaster turning on, so too does energetic or spiritual sense precede the physical sense. That means behind the physical eyes there are spiritual eyes. Behind the physical ears there are spiritual ears, and so on. A psychic is able to hone in on the very subtle workings of these spiritual senses and interpret the information gathered by them. A psychic can perceive those subtleties in the same way we normally perceive the road in front of us, a conversation with a friend or the taste of a fresh strawberry. All people are blessed with the ability to negotiate on the spiritual/psychic level — a psychic is just someone who has fine-tuned the art of perceiving incoming information that is normally overlooked.

Some of the psychic abilities have names that begin with “clair”, which means clear in French. Many use more than one of these skills. The four main clairs are:

1. Clairvoyance – clear seeing 2. Clairaudience – clear hearing 3. Clairsentience – clear feeling / sensing 4. Claircognizance – clear knowing

The less common clairs are:

Clairtangency – clear touching (also called psychometry)

Psychic Development Course Page 5

Clairgustance – clear tasting Clairalience – clear smelling

These are discussed more fully in the pages following.

The Difference between a Psychic and a Medium Whether one refers to him- or herself as a psychic medium, spiritual medium, intuitive medium or any other similar title, it's all essentially the same thing - the emphasis being on talking to spirits in the afterlife or in another dimension. While some people are referred to as "psychic mediums", there is a big difference between a psychic and a medium. A psychic isn't necessarily a medium, but a medium is a psychic. This is an important distinction and a good place to start, because many people misunderstand the difference and confuse the two. Psychics tune into the energy of people or objects by feeling or sensing elements of their past, present and future. Simply put, psychics rely on their basic sense of intuition and psychic ability to gather information for the person being read. Mediums take it a step further. A medium uses their psychic or intuitive abilities to see the past, present and future events of a person by tuning into the spirit energy surrounding that person. This means mediums rely on the presence of non-physical energy outside of themselves for the information relevant to the person being read. Another important distinction is that while psychic readings often focus on predicting future events, mediums primarily tune into past and present issues. It's my opinion that predicting the future, while sometimes helpful, runs the risk of disempowering people. Always remember that you do have a say in how your future unfolds. Despite what any psychic or medium may "see" in your future, it is important to remember you were given the gift of free will when you came into this world, and at any moment in time you can absolutely redirect your course and create the life you want by changing your thoughts and actions. Psychic information is often just insight into what potentially could happen based on the road you are currently traveling, and it should be used only as a guideline to help you make the best choices for yourself.

The History behind It

Parapsychology believes that some instances of clairvoyance are verifiable. Over the past, general public have shown belief in this concept of clairvoyance. The degree of faith varies from time to time. It is important to specify that both US and Russian governments showed support to clairvoyance both during and after the cold war. Critics may claim clairvoyance baseless and a chance process. But their studies and results are not completely free from bias. In English, the term Clairvoyance first appeared in 1840. The phenomenon of second sight is a bit older. In several of the world famous cultures, there have been anecdotal references of clairvoyance throughout the history. In history, clairvoyance is found to be

Psychic Development Course Page 6

associated with religious figures. Prophetic predictions related to clairvoyance have been made several thousand years ago in religions and cultures. Ancient Hindu religious texts mention clairvoyance amongst Siddhis-perfections or skills obtained through severe meditation and high degree of self-discipline. has written on prophesying through . has offered a lot of predictions for the centuries ahead. Other examples of historical reference to clairvoyance include visions by Russian, Scottish, and Japanese seers as well as numerous Australian and North American aboriginal tribal community. In some cultures, second sight is associated with wise and sages. And in some other it is related to witchcraft or heresy like as in Europe in Middle Ages. But the anecdotal reference of clairvoyance is prevalent among general public in large amount. Lot of people claim to have seen their loved one died recently, even before they know of the same by other conventional means. Though such anecdotal accounts lack any scientific proof, they induce interest, curiosity and motivate research on such phenomenon as clairvoyance. Marquis de Puysegar, a follower of Mesmer belonged to the time of 1784. The earliest reference of clairvoyance in history is credited to him, who was treating a local peasant named Victoria Race. Race, during treatment, would often go to a during when he used to diagnose and prescribe for diseases of his own as well as others. He seemed to have undergone personality change during the trance and when he was out of the trance, he was not aware of anything he said or done during the trance. is a 20th century medical clairvoyant and psychic and history states him of exhibiting clairvoyant behaviors. During the spiritualistic period of late 19th and early 20th centuries, clairvoyance was reported as ability of some mediums and this phenomenon was studied by members of the Society of Psychical Research (SPR). Psychics claim to have the ability of clairvoyance till today. Experimental studies on clairvoyance became more systematic with the efforts of J. B. Rhine and his associate at Duke University and such efforts continue till today. US government-funded project conducted at SRI/SAIC during 1970s through 1990s can be considered the most popular study on clairvoyance of recent times. Some parapsychologists claim that all psychic phenomena like clairvoyance, , cognition work on one basic underlying mechanism. But what that mechanism would be? The myth still continues… Clairvoyance and Associated Parapsychological Research Parapsychological research and studies have so far shown highly favorable results much above than just a chance. Meta-analysis of these research studies show great significance and relevance. In 1972, Harold Puthoff and Russell Targ, initiated a series of human subject studies at Stanford Research Institute. The objective of the studies was to determine whether participants could identify salient features of remote places or targets and describe the same reliably and accurately. During the experiments, a person, a human sender, would be usually present at a remote

Psychic Development Course Page 7

location. As a part of three-step process, the first step was to randomly select the conditions to be experienced by the sender. The second step is asking the viewers or the participants to describe verbally the remote scene. In the third and final judging step, the relevancy between the descriptions by the viewers and the intended targets are seen and matched by separate judges. The whole process was termed ‘Remote Viewing’. During some experiments, the viewers were placed in a double-walled copper screened Faraday Cage which called for attenuation of radio signals over a wide range of frequencies. But this did not seem to reduce the ability of clairvoyance exhibited by the viewers. Analysts suggested the involvement of extremely low frequency (ELF) propagation as Faraday Cage is ineffective in ELF region. Earlier, Telepathy researchers in Soviet Union have also put forth the same theory. Puthoff and Targ published their first research paper on psychic studies in March 1974 issue of ‘Nature’, a popular scientific journal of that time. The paper admitted some degree of remote viewing success. Their studies included , a celebrity psychic of that time. The research team when admitting witnessing several psychic abilities of Geller, including his phenomenon, was unable to put forth any paranormal hypothesis about them. The studies on clairvoyance made use of Electroencephalography (EEG) techniques, to analyze the related ESP phenomenon. During these investigations, the sender was placed in a chamber that was visually opaque and acoustically and electrically shielded. The results showed that some information transfer had occurred. But the researchers were unable to identify any physical parameters which accounted for the information transfer. Several follow up studies have followed incorporating advanced techniques like computer conferencing and advanced statistical methods. Though scientific researches do not show any solid proof for the existence of clairvoyance, the myth about this exciting phenomenon is still there. People claim that psychic abilities like clairvoyance are beyond science and they exhibit not only curiosity and interest towards paranormal concepts like clairvoyance but also faith and belief.

What Is Intuition?

Your intuition, sometimes referred to as your inner guidance, is a mechanism of inner or instinctive knowing which neither requires, nor employs, logical thought processes. It is an alternative source of knowledge, level of awareness, or as some refer to it, an inner voice. We all possess this mechanism to varying degrees, as well as the capacity to develop it further. Why is developing your intuition important? Many great thinkers, from Immanuel Kant to Carl Jung, have emphasized the importance of intuition and the great impact it had on their personal and professional lives. They defined it as "a priori" knowledge (meaning justification independent of experience), and as being an essential and indispensable tool for us, as humans.

Psychic Development Course Page 8

According to Jung, intuition is one of four major functions of the human mind along with sensation, thinking, and feeling. By balancing all of these functions within ourselves, we have the ability to maximize our potential. He wrote that intuition is also a means of creative self-expression, especially in the worlds of art, music and literature, however, it is not restricted to the creative arts. Many have achieved remarkable success in the fields of science, business and entrepreneurship, often amassing great fortune and fame due to their abilities to make important decisions by following hunches or gut feelings. Intuition is ultimately your connection to the subconscious mind. It is how the subconscious mind communicates with the conscious mind. This is why it's such an amazing source of creative power, wisdom and understanding. It transcends the realms of reasoning.

How to Develop Your Intuition Skills

Quiet your mind and listen. Take time each day to experience silence. Practice calming your mind by using whatever breathing or meditative technique you prefer. Let go of the inclination to think or analyse, and trying to know everything. Be open and listen. Let your thoughts roam and be open to the ideas and solutions that come to you. When you listen to your intuition it connects you with a greater knowledge. It usually communicates through symbols, feelings and emotions. Learn to trust your hunches and gut feelings. If something doesn't feel right, chances are it isn't. What may be right for one person could be totally wrong for you. How many times have you had that feeling in your stomach compelling you to do, or not do, something for no apparent reason? Listening to it probably helped you avoid a traffic accident, or led you to be at the right place and time for getting that great job, or meeting that special person. Your intuition is your inner guide, so learn to trust it. At first, trusting it may be a bit scary, but allow it the opportunity to develop. Pay attention and be aware. In order to increase your intuitive abilities, you must pay attention to what is going on around you. The more data and information you absorb from your environment, the more your subconscious mind has to work with when you have to make an important decision. Since your intuition uses the information gathered by the conscious mind, the more you have available, the better the solution. Likewise, knowledge and understanding gleaned from experience contribute to the quality of insight provided by your intuition. Remember, the subconscious mind communicates information to the conscious mind through your intuition. Other types of intuition reveal themselves in thought flashes or inspiration. The key is to take notice. The more you pay attention, the more of them you will experience. If you've ever ignored your intuition and then had to deal with unpleasant ensuing circumstances, you know what it feels like. To prevent such mishaps, make sure to pay attention to the tiny hints and clues you receive. Employ your subconscious while you sleep. Before you go to bed at night, reflect upon questions and issues for which you couldn't find solutions during the day. Think about and explore different possibilities. This will trigger your imagination and put your subconscious

Psychic Development Course Page 9

to work at furnishing you with creative solutions while you sleep. Be sure to have a pen and paper handy so that when you wake up during the night with some great ideas, you can write them down. When you take time to write or journal, you tap into thoughts, feelings and ideas you're not typically conscious of. This is an excellent way to release inner messages, insights, or hidden knowledge about a situation or problem that requires solving.

The Benefits of Developing your Intuition

Helps you reduce stress by identifying and dealing with problems more effectively Unleashes your creativity and imagination

Puts you in touch with your subconscious, and therefore helps you uncover hidden truths about yourself and situations in your life

By being in touch with your intuition, you prevent the build-up of negative emotions and thinking

Integrates left and right brain functions, giving you a more complete perspective on issues

Helps you make better, more integrative decisions Improves physical, mental and emotional health

Developing your intuition is like learning any new skill. The more you practice, the better you get at it. As with any new exercise or routine you're not used to, start off slowly and gradually building your intuitive muscles.

Developing your intuition is developing an awareness of subtle energy that transcends the normal senses and moves your perception beyond the confines of physical time and space. As you develop your intuition, you get a balanced overview of the world by combining all your senses as well as your conscious and subconscious mind. You could therefore think of developing your intuition as integrating your body, mind and spirit.

How to Distinguish Intuition from Imagination

It would be great if there was a formula for knowing what is your intuition and what is your imagination, but I don't think there is one. However, there are a few factors to keep in mind when trying to distinguish between intuition and other things. 1: Practice and Feedback Practicing psychics have it easier when it comes to distinguishing between imagination and intuition and this is because they get more feedback than anyone. They get their psychic insights validated, or not, as the case may be. So, if you want to develop your confidence and clearly know the difference between your intuition and your imagination, do what practicing psychics do to gain confidence in their

Psychic Development Course Page 10

abilities – (1) practice as much as possible and (2) get feedback on your intuitive insights. You don't need to be doing professional readings for others in order to get feedback on your intuitive insights – you just need to apply them in your own life and see the results. For example, if a voice inside impulses you to take some sort of action, notice how that voice sounds, what it feels like, and then see what the results are. The catch here is that you must practice detachment in seeing the results of applying your intuition. What many people do is apply their intuitive insights, and if it doesn't immediately get proved correct, they get discouraged. Try not to approach your intuitive development like that. If the information is not proved correct immediately, don't worry. Every time you apply your intuitive input and see the results, you get a little bit closer to knowing what your unique intuitive voice sounds like or what your intuitive nudge feels like, so even when you're wrong, you learn something. But in order to get far in your psychic development, you've got to be open to being wrong. All developing psychics get it wrong sometimes and practicing psychics can get it wrong too. 2: Notice the feeling that accompanies your intuition All intuitive information comes with a special energetic signature that you can make out after a while. The more you practice receiving intuition, the more you can identify the feeling that comes with real intuition. Next time you get intuitive input, ask yourself "how does this feel to me?" In addition to getting feelings in your gut, you may also get feedback on the accuracy of your intuition through your emotions. If you get some information, but it "feels" wrong or off to you, (and it's not a good feeling), then you know it's not on the right track. When I'm passing on information that you know is accurate, then you feel good and uplifted. If any information is not accurate, it may feel discordant within you. 3: Imagination is active, Intuition is passive Another key difference between imagination and intuition is that imagination is an active process and intuition is a passive process. When you're imagining something, the imagination is exerting itself actively. Whereas intuition is what you get when you clear the mind (through meditation) and you make yourself a conduit. You become passive. So if you're afraid that your imagination is feeding you input when you want your intuition to have more of a say, work on getting your mind under control. When you get a flash of something and you're not sure whether it's your intuition or your mind being overly active, just stop what you're doing and quieten your mind. You can do this by focusing on your breath for a minute or two. This really helps to put your mind out of action whilst you hear what your intuition has to say. Intuition arises in the gaps between your conscious thoughts, so you need to create more gaps in order to hear your true intuitive voice.

Psychic Development Course Page 11

When it's definitely not your intuition:

The voice that's talking to you makes you feel bad or discourages you or belittles you.

When the voice tells you something that sounds vague or confusing. Intuitive information should be concise and clear and should slot nicely into your mental frame

of reference. If it asks you to have faith in its accuracy, but makes no sense at all to you, then it's probably best to discard it. When the voice tells you to obey it. Intuition is usually without an agenda. Your Higher Self and Guides will offer their perspective but you're not required to live your life by that perspective or take into account the input, as you have free will. If in doubt, don't worry – a true and relevant intuitive message will usually repeat itself if you don't get it the first time. As you can see, there are so many parts to the human psyche that it may start getting confusing – intuition, ego, subconscious, guides, higher self, etc. We have already covered a few of these aspects in other courses. Following the next section, we are going to cover your higher self, which is where some of your guidance and messages come from.

The Difference Between Intuition and Psychic Abilities

Often the words “intuition” and “psychic” are interchanged but, while the two are very closely linked, there is actually a difference. So, what is intuition? And how is it different to psychic ability? Intuition is a broader feeling or hunch, a pull in a particular direction which often can’t be logically explained. People refer to this as “gut instinct”, a hunch or “just a feeling”. For example, your first impression when you meet someone new, and that gut instinct to trust them or not. You could also think of your intuition as your inner voice, or higher self, or simply the part of your connected to something bigger than us. When you’re quiet and still enough, its voice becomes clearer. Psychic information is more detailed intuitive information. It builds upon your intuition and provides more clarity and insight, usually with more (specific) detail. This information may be provided through clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognisance or clairgustance. For example, you meet someone new and “see” a picture or “know” a particular detail regarding their life – this is more psychic than intuitive information.

Are you intuitive or psychic?

Yes! Everybody has intuition and it is possible for every person to develop their psychic ability too. Doing so can make navigating life much easier, and also help you live the life

Psychic Development Course Page 12

you’re here to live. Starting on this journey can be daunting and a little like opening a Pandora’s box – but the reward is worth it. Modern, mainstream society has tended to treat the topics as scary or “out there” – but they needn’t be. Successfully relying on your intuition in day-to-day life requires you to not only learn how to notice it, but to then trust it. Intuitive and certainly psychic information rarely makes logical sense at the outset. It sometimes takes a few days, weeks, or months for the information to make sense or to fall into place. This can be very frustrating, but always worth the wait. Start by focusing on your intuition – those hunches or suspicions about your life, then start to harness your own psychic ability for more detailed information.

Exploring Your Higher Self

To help simplify matters, let's define the higher self. This can be a daunting and voluminous task due to its sublime nature. Higher self is an integral and intimate aspect of ourselves that remains aware of (and actively interacts with) the whole of our being and our existence on the many planes or possibilities of life. One definition of the higher self can be: the part of ourselves that remains aware of our fragmented aspects and our wholeness simultaneously. Connecting with and recognizing the higher self is a rather large subject and requires touching upon many areas within the subject in order to explore it with clarity. Whatever is written on this subject will never be enough to satisfy the human mind. The only time we feel true satisfaction is when we fully experience love and spirit for ourselves. Connecting with the higher self takes practice, refinement, dedication, and discipline. You will receive from this practice what you put into it. In trying to understand a perspective of the higher self in comparison to our ego self, higher self would be like being at a conference in a large hotel auditorium that was partitioned into several smaller rooms. Our greater whole being would occupy the entire floor as well as all the partitioned rooms. Our ego consciousness would only be aware of the one room in which we were focused. Higher self, in comparison, would be fully aware and participating within all the rooms on the floor simultaneously. The higher self would have a much greater vision of the whole of our being and the many rooms or planes upon which we exist. The higher self is also you. It wants to become whole and integrated. Therefore, it is bound to help you in every possible way that you are willing to accept. The higher self's foremost concern is for your highest good. That highest good is observed through the eyes and vantage point of a much more expanded and intimate awareness and an understanding of not only yourself but the current reality you have created for yourself within that partitioned room. The higher self naturally wants to help you evolve to be able to access the many partitioned rooms that comprise our total self. Eventually, the higher self will teach you to remove the partitions completely. Higher self is highly motivated to communicate with us at the first available moment of clarity or mental inactivity. Higher self wants to be able to communicate with us at every

Psychic Development Course Page 13

given instant but generally finds itself in a challenge with our 3D selves because of our insistence on creating a barrier of resistance to the higher self. This barrier of resistance is, quite frankly, our preoccupation with a myriad of distractions. Higher self may use any number of methods or tools to communicate. Unfortunately, not every communiqué or subtle message received is from the higher self. This makes it even more of a difficult task to try and identify, clarify and refine these communications. Higher-self communicates in a subtle fashion in most cases and resorts to drastic forms of communication or even silence when there is no other choice. Many times we have used the gifts of our human potential without recognizing them and in so doing have taken them for granted. The voice of the higher self is one of those gifts we have taken for granted. It is our soft and subtle voice that comes to alert us to potential dangers or calmly helps us find our keys after we have madly searched the house. Higher self is also the voice of our higher reason and our creative inspiration. When we hear our own subtle voice of inspiration, it becomes our choice to listen and follow through with the message or deny it. Denying it usually produces the consequence of us regretting the outcome, knowing we could have altered it by taking the suggested prudent action. If you receive a message that would have you harm yourself or another person, it is not from higher self! Higher self may have you do things that make you feel uncomfortable, such as asking you to take steps to overcome your fears in creative ways. Or, it may have you do things that you resist. But higher self will never have you harm yourself or another being. Higher self has the task of evolving our trust and belief systems as well as working with our fears in order to get us to the edge of the known and step off into the unknown. Higher self will also teach us to release our need to control each other, our surroundings, or life in general and loosen our attachment on how we think life should be. This may include painful lessons, depending upon how strong or tenacious our need to control is. (Lessons don't have to be painful. The painful ones usually occur when we ignore the higher self or resist change.) We have been taught in our society to plan our lives and live within our visible means of support. If we fail to plan, then we plan to fail. It is important to understand, however, that there is an equally important way of being that has to be learned as well. We must learn to live close to our hearts and our dreams. When we live within our inspiration (our heart and dreams) we do what our heart tells us, despite fearing a lack of support. We manifest the support we need without being able to see where it is going to come from most of the time. Balancing these two methods gives us an ability to know when to apply either method to the situations we face. Communicating with the higher self is an ongoing process of refinement and discernment in three distinct areas. These are:

1. Refining our ability to sense and receive the subtle communication. 2. Refining the clarity of the message. 3. Refining our ability to remain in the receptive state.

Psychic Development Course Page 14

Refining our abilities in these three areas enables us to more clearly sense or tune into the higher self, more accurately receive the messages, and reside more consistently within the receptive state during the course of our day. It has been said that the highest form of art is being receptive to higher inspiration.

Refining Our Ability to Sense and Receive Subtle Communication

When we afford ourselves a moment to stop the mind's constant mental chatter, it reverts to a state of quiet calmness or inactivity. This calmness or inactivity has a benefit that promotes receptivity. When we recognize the moment we attain this mentally quiet state and how we ventured into it, it can be refined into a heightened state of receptivity that becomes more familiar and easier to access. Breaking the merry-go-round of mental activity and juggling our daily priorities with the emotional stresses they bear upon us is similar to observing a lake. When the high winds blow upon the waters, an endless series of waves bounce across the surface. The wind and wave action create currents under the water's surface and dredge up the loose mud, which in turn clouds the water. This is very similar to the state of being constantly preoccupied with mental chatter and fixated on keeping ourselves busy with an endless list of priorities that need to be done now. The amount of internal pressure and preoccupation we place upon ourselves to accomplish the list of priorities keeps our attention, focus, and emotions locked into the mundane and away from our inspiration. Stopping the mental chatter. Each of these exercises, when practiced regularly, will help the individual recognize the internal process for quieting the mind. Eventually, breaking the stream of endless have-to-dos and the constant mental chatter creates time when our receptivity is heightened and allows an opportunity for the higher self and our mind to establish communication with each other. This is similar to when the clouds pass and the wind subsides. The lake then becomes calm, glassy and clear. One can see a good distance into the water (which represents our spirit). When the lake is calm, it is an ideal state for receptivity, clarity and reflection. Like the lake in the calm state, so will our mind be when we take the time to quiet it. When we occupy our mind with so many tasks and priorities for extended periods, it becomes cloudy and murky. When we take steps to get the lake glassy and clear, we have created time to allow the higher self and the higher planes to reflect through us. This action gives us the gifts of rejuvenation, inspiration, vision, clarity, and healing, which come from giving ourselves a break in the calm of spirit. When we take time to accomplish this state, the mind and emotions become fully recharged. When we are fully recharged, we can tackle the various tasks in our day-to-day world and proceed with renewed vigour, clarity and creative imagination.

Exercises for Calming and Quieting the Mind

Stopping the merry-go-round of mental chatter requires practice to become adept. Becoming adept is becoming aware and familiar with the internal process. You will

Psychic Development Course Page 15

become so familiar with how to shut the chatter off that you will be able to do it at will, without having to do the exercise. 1. Walking on Rocks One of the quickest ways to quiet the mind is an ancient indigenous practice. However, it can be dangerous as it requires a fair amount of agility. In this practice, you graduate from walking in an unbroken pace to a slow run (when you are ready) on top of a field of large rocks. While you walk on the rocks, you will notice that the mind will insist on telling you where to place each of your steps one-by-one. Your mind will continue to do this for a time until it becomes tired of telling you. At the point of mental fatigue, you will begin to recognize that placing your steps in the right place does not require your mind to mentally tell you. When you are at this point, the mind starts to relinquish its insistence on controlling your every move. This is the breaking point of the mental merry-go-round. Take time to remain in this state and familiarize yourself with it. Also, repeat this process often in order to familiarize yourself with the breaking point. As you familiarize yourself with this state, you will become familiar with the place inside yourself where you can reside without the mental merry-go- round. Do not try this on high rocks, but rather a series of low rocks on the beach somewhere where you can't hurt yourself. 2. Meditation Learning to stop the mental merry-go-round will enhance your ability to meditate. There are many forms of meditation and they require you to adhere to the particular guidelines of the chosen form for any results. As you quiet your mind and emotions inside your meditation, your access to the heart becomes easier. This will take you deeper into the higher frequencies. It is in this place that communication with the higher self becomes the most accessible and clear. As you reach this open and vulnerable state (when all else is still and quiet inside you) the messages that suddenly settle into your awareness that inspire, heal, inform, or warn you in a loving manner are generally speaking from the higher self or your guides/guardians.

Understanding an Important Characteristic of the Mind Imagine for a moment that you are standing by a very still and clear pond. This pond so still and clear that you can see the reflection of the surrounding hills and trees. As you look at the reflection you are stunned by the high level of clarity. This begins to captivate you, so you concentrate on the sharpness of the details. As time goes on you find you have become so mesmerized by the sharpness of details in the reflection that you barely recognize that you are beginning to orient yourself according to the reflected reality. This reflected reality and your orientation within it becomes more believable and concrete as you put more attention into it. This is exactly what the mind and ego does. It tries to make the transient more concrete. When we turn on our heart, it is like a passing rain cloud that sheds a drop of water into that perfectly still reflection. A ripple is caused that

Psychic Development Course Page 16

snaps the grip our mind has on the reflected reality. The mind always tries its best to make the reflection concrete in our belief system and reality. In our society, we have placed a higher value upon the mind and intellect. This is also important, however, it has its consequences. It has us constantly focused on the mind without an equal amount of time and training on the heart. Focusing too much on the mind keeps us in an unbalanced state. This unbalanced state allows the mind to pour its concrete over the vast delicate world of sensitivity, vulnerability and feelings, making it difficult for the heart to open. Without an open heart and our vulnerable sensitivities, we would be trapped within the concrete of the mind. Generally speaking, if the mind cannot control something, it will generally denounce or deny it until it can learn to work in cooperation with it. The mind (or intellect) will at times try to tell you that you have opened your heart. However, intellectually believing you have opened the heart will leave you devoid of the results you seek and allow you to retreat further into a sterile world that encroaches upon you until it cements you into its rigidity. The only true fulfillment is when you have surrendered completely to love and watched as this love removes the rigidity of your inner concrete. Surrendering and opening the heart is not a one-time thing. We must practice surrendering to our hearts every day until we become so familiar and comfortable with the process that we are able to surrender at all times. As we continue to refine ourselves and our ability to sense the subtle nuances in the finer vibrations, we will become aware of the presence of a variety of beings that exist on other planes. We will then have a clearer insight and understanding about the beings with whom we are communicating. The unified field that comprises the many planes or dimensions is so populated with beings that literally every inch on every plane is alive and conscious. Like water, the unified field is viscous in living consciousness, creating a liquid light essence similar to the texture or fabric of the water and the pond. This is part of the reason that love is the most intelligent force in creation. It is the pool that contains all of us within it. Love is the only frequency humble and forgiving enough to allow us to come together from all planes at once harmoniously. Like adding more water to water, there is no resistance. A ripple is caused that snaps the grip our mind has on the reflected reality. The mind always tries its best to make the reflection concrete in our belief system and reality. The Emotions Dealing with emotions is very similar to dealing with the mind, with a few differences. To clarify this, I need to reiterate an idea. Imagine that you have a clear rounded wineglass filled with pure water. If you take a flashlight and shine it into the glass of water, the light

Psychic Development Course Page 17

would shine completely through the glass. No obstructions would be evident as you viewed the light. The glass (and the water within the glass) would receive the light clearly. Now take black pepper and sprinkle it into the water. This is a good analogy regarding thoughts or distractions in your mind. When you take the light and now shine it through the glass and the water, shadows appear where the light is being blocked. The shadows are like our lower thought forms that are real and active, but they exist only because the higher light is being blocked. When you add more pepper and stir the water, it becomes even more clouded. This is akin to creating the mental merry-go-round. It keeps your thoughts stirred up and cloudy. Very little light can penetrate the swirling cloudy water. In this clouded condition, we begin to lose the ability to see the wide spectrum of possibilities in our lives. We then begin to strongly believe that the world is dark like the clouds in our own mind. Our emotional state is similar to the example of the water glass and the mind, with one exception. The cloudiness represents our unresolved feelings instead of our thoughts and beliefs. Using the same example, the pepper represents emotional wounds or beliefs about ourselves or the world around us. There are a number of emotions that find their way into the water and into the chalice of the heart. Swirling them about (without taking the time to clear the water) will cause us to sink into darkness and drown in the world of despair we project onto the reality around us. The clearer we keep the glass (our mind and heart) on an ongoing daily basis, the easier it will be to receive the higher self. Loads more can be written on the subject, however, this is enough for now so you can begin to refine your own connection with your higher self. Having a good overview of all of these elements is essential to evolving your relationship with your higher self. As you learn these steps, your higher selves will begin to reveal more of your own unique journey. More than anything else, the journey is never complete and requires patience, dedication, and an open heart. Walking the rainbow, the journey of living life closer to the heart and higher self, is not always sugar and spice. Your eyes may see you fail (or what you think is failure) many times before you understand the lesson or see your own self-sabotage circuits. When you are sincere about connecting with the higher self, be alert! Your higher self may often use other people as messengers to help set your lessons in motion. Always remember not to shoot the messenger!

SUMMARY & FAQ

Your Higher Self is the part of you helps you to keep on track with your life's purpose and in touch with your passion and joy. What does my Higher Self do? Your Higher Self is like a pure background consciousness that offers forth its wisdom and directions about where to go now. Sometimes these directions can take a while to come through into your mind consciousness. But, there are ways to access the wisdom of your

Psychic Development Course Page 18

Higher Self directly by bypassing the mind. Your Higher Self is not "out there" - your Higher Self is you, your consciousness, in your energetic body. Am I ever separate from my Higher Self? You can sometimes be alienated from your Higher Self when you see yourself as an inferior being or when there are other beliefs you have which block you from the truth of who you are as a spirit. Have you ever had that exciting feeling which tells you that you're here to do great things? Have you ever had a humbling feeling that you're someone really special, with a special perspective to bring? Those are background input from your Higher Self. We mostly drown out such input with our thoughts and our fears and when we listen to our fear, we feel disconnected from our spirit. How can I be more connected to my Higher Self? Connecting to your Higher Self means living your Spirit. It involves three things. 1. Empowerment – remembering that you are a child of the Universe, with the power to create your world. You came here to be incarnated in the physical and to keep a connection to your Spirit intact. You want to keep a connection to your Higher Self because that's the part of you which knows where to go and what to take on the journey and what to do to get there. Many souls who are incarnated here already do not have that connection anymore. They've lost it because they see themselves as separate from the Divine energy that is the creator of all things. People often treat themselves as if they're at the mercy of an outside force that controls the course of our lives. Living your Spirit means remembering that you are Source energy in a physical body and the creator of your world. The power inside you to create your world is the same power that creates worlds. It's your life purpose to utilize it to create the world you want. 2. Intuition – talking to yourself You don't need to contact your Higher Self as an entity outside of you – it is you! And you don't need to hire a psychic in order to contact your Higher Self (although you can if you're particularly alienated and don't know where you're headed or what you want). The wisdom is inside of you, if you will access it. Pay attention to your desires. Your truest, heartfelt desires are feedback from your Higher Self about what you want to do now. Living from your Higher Self means not sacrificing or ignoring those desires. It also means listening to those desires on a daily basis. The quickest way to practice accessing your truest self, however, is meditation - it quietens the mind and the chatter which tells you who you are and what you can and can't do and be and takes you straight to the quiet and calm which is your Higher Self. Start meditating by just focusing on your breath. I know I've mentioned meditation a lot so far, as the key to most things, but however odd this may seem, it is true. Meditation achieves so much. 3. Healing – Clearing the clutter which stands between you and your truest self. A lot of people don't realize that they want healing – they just know that they feel bad. So what can

Psychic Development Course Page 19

you do if you mostly feel bad? What if you don't know what to do to heal that? You can just put out the intention to be as aligned as possible with your Higher Self. Putting out that intention will put you on a healing journey back towards who you are. The self- healing hand positions are also every useful for this. If you have the energy to be proactive, make it your work to clear away anything which is not aligned with who you really are. Your Higher Self is pure joy. You know what is not aligned with your Higher Self by how good it feels. If you feel good, then it's aligned with your Higher Self. If you feel bad, then it's not aligned. This clutter includes beliefs that hold you back, such as "I'm not good enough"", or any past associations or events which cause you to feel bad, any feeling which does not feel good to you is out of alignment with your Higher Self and it helps to find its source and purge the belief or attitude that causes it. On the subject of communication, we continue with Spirit Guides, which is another source of messages.

SPIRIT GUIDES

A great many healers are aware of receiving help from others who are present on higher frequency vibrations than the physical. You may see them or sense them in some way through high sense perception. These beings are known as spirit guides, spirit teachers or spirit helpers. Some forms of energy healing encourage the practitioner to get in touch with and communicate with their spirit guides. It is suggested to do this as a means of increasing their awareness and enhancing their use of the forces and energies around us. Spirit guides are non-physical entities who have chosen to aid and guide us. Most spirit guides have lived on this Earth before; some have existed in other realms as well. Some of your guides may be with you for your entire lifetime and some may only be with you for a certain length of time. You will have different guides at different times in your life; some will come and go. Our guides are with us always, whether we are aware of them or not. They will stay with us, whether we have contact with them or not and leave when their purpose is accomplished. It is good to get in touch with our spirit guides and let them know that we appreciate them and love them. How this is done varies with each individual. Many people communicate with their guides through dreams. Some people can sense them and communicate with them telepathically. Another way to communicate with them is to talk to them. When you are alone and in a quiet place (before you sleep at night is good) talk to your spirit guides, ask them questions, and then listen for an answer from that little voice inside your head. Don't be discouraged if you don't hear anything. They do hear you and are trying to communicate with you. Give yourself time to become better acquainted with them. Be aware of other ways they can be communicating with you. They can point things out to you, direct you to things, warn you of things. When that little voice in your head says,

Psychic Development Course Page 20

"don't do that" it may be your spirit guides or guardian angels guiding you and watching out for you. Finding and meeting your spirit guides can be a wonderful experience. I’ve included a meditation to meet your guide with the course. You can do this meditation a few times, to meet different guides. We usually have between four and seven guides at any one time. Our primary spirit guide is with us from birth. The rest of your guides tend to join your spirit guide team at different points in your life. Their assistance can be practical or spiritual in nature. Your spirit guides may regularly change, depending on where you are in your journey. When I signed up to receive the Munay Ki Rites in 2011, all but 1 of my guides changed. That was an indication for me that my life was about to change dramatically (and boy, did it change!) What Spirit Guides Can Help You With

We all go through the veil of amnesia when we incarnate. Most of us forget who we are as souls, where we’ve come from and what we’re doing here. Spirit guides know that it is challenging to be incarnated here at Earth school AND keep a connection to your higher self and your soul’s purpose. The role of your guides is to gently but consistently guide you via intuitive nudges to stay on track with your soul’s purpose. In addition, if something is in your purpose to accomplish, you will find support from your spirit guides in that endeavour. They will hook you up with resources, people, money, books, etc. to help you reach your goals. They can offer insight and comfort when you feel lost. But there is one important condition to the help they can give us and this condition serves us: Your spirit guides will only help you to accomplish and achieve things that honour the purpose that YOU set for yourself before you incarnated. Contrary to what you may think, you don’t need to have really well developed psychic abilities to begin working with your spirit guides. You may not be able to perceive them at all times but your guides can certainly perceive you. You only need to set an intention and they will pick up on it. Address them out loud and they will hear you. One way of setting your guides to work is to request their help with specific goals. I have got into the habit of doing this automatically by writing down my goals for the coming week and month and I ask my guides for help in achieving each of my goals. So here’s an example list of goals:

I would like X amount of money to be able to study X. I would like to work with X number of clients next month. I’d like to spend X more hours per week of quality time with my partner and children.

I’d like to be a more tolerant mother to my children and remain calm when they are being hectic.

Psychic Development Course Page 21

I’d like more fun and laughter in my life. Read this aloud: “I call on my spirit guides and request your assistance in achieving the following goals, provided these goals are aligned with my highest path and purpose and in the highest good of all. Please impulse me so that I can recognize assistance and opportunities when they manifest. Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Why do you have to do this? Surely guides should already know where and when they could provide assistance? In fact, your guides will not intervene until you ask them to because to do so would violate your free will. This is why consciously enlisting their help is powerful. And of course, everything manifests from the spiritual (energetic) plane into the physical, not the other way round. Your spirit guides work to help you manifest your desires into the physical, often in ingenious ways. It’s not usually a good idea to ask for assistance to come to you in a very specific format. The wrong way to do it would be to say ‘please send more overtime work my way so that I can pay off my mortgage’. Instead, say: ‘I would like to pay off X% of my mortgage by the end of the year, please hook me up with the resources and opportunities to make this happen’. Be open-ended and the Universe will send you the resources you need in creative ways. If you are attached to receiving help through a particular channel, you may miss or discard the help that shows up in other ways. Be open to them all by seeing the opportunity in every experience that comes your way. A lot of healers and therapists call in their guides to assist them with healing sessions, and it really makes such a big difference! You can call on your guides for assistance any time you do any form of spiritual work, whether it is healing (in person or distance) or holding a workshop, or even passing on rites. When I hold Munay Ki workshops, I find that after I have passed on the Rites to the attendees, my guides swoop in after me and do likewise.

MEDITATION & VISUALISATION

To successfully utilise your psychic skills, it is best that you are able to relax your mind. Once you can control your response to outside stimulus, you will be able to tune in much easier to the subtle frequencies involved in using your extra senses. Meditation has been practiced around the world in many religions, from Buddhism to Hinduism for eons. Many people have meditated for spiritual communication, personal fulfilment, as a form of worship or just to relax and relieve stress. Each culture and each religious path has its own views about the purpose of meditation. And even within the same religion, different practitioners can view the practice in different ways. During this century western societies have begun to recognize the benefits of meditation from an Eastern philosophical perspective. This can be seen in many metaphysics- based courses, books, websites and magazines. Meditation has even shown up in mainstream hospitals and rehabilitation centres as a method to focus on fighting diseases. The breathing and visualizations employed by traditional medicine have shown to help patients fight cancer, physical illnesses, relieve stress and so on. Basically, meditation is an altered state of consciousness achieved through controlled breathing and visualization. Webster's Dictionary (2003) defines meditating as “a practice to engage in mental exercise (as concentration on one's breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness”. While this definition is partly accurate, meditation is so much more. A person who practices a mediation technique on a regular basis will begin noticing a few side effects. Most often they become a little calmer and more relaxed during regular daily activities. They become better able to handle unexpected events or can think more clearly when dealing with a problem or trying to find a solution to a challenging issue. Some of the stress and tension gained throughout the week will subside each time the person performs their chosen meditation technique. All in all, less stress and less tension will lead to a healthier and happier person who is better able to think clearly. On the spiritual side, a degree of self-discovery may also begin to happen. People who meditate on a regular basis report feeling the “need” to improve their attitudes or outlook on life. Individuals may begin to notice an increased interest in their chosen religious or spiritual path. Many people often report that they feel there is more to life than this physical existence and they want to know and understand what that is. I believe this is a result of successfully bridging the conscious, subconscious and spiritual together, which occurs during regular meditation practices. Those who follow a metaphysical practice have long believed in the concepts of a higher self within. Many call this a higher level of consciousness or the Divine Self. This is the part of you that works on becoming an enlightened spiritual being. Many people hold their spiritual being separate or at a higher level than their physical being. From one perspective, seeing the spiritual self as a higher level of consciousness may be an accurate view. But the spiritual self is part of who we are within. It’s not something that’s separate or outside of our physical being. With that said however, we are still physical

Psychic Development Course Page 23

incarnated beings and a part of our physical being also needs to be present and cared for in a spiritual way to work toward achieving enlightenment in this lifetime. So let's work on bringing these two parts of the self together, through meditation. Meditation can be used for:

Increasing mental clarity Deepening concentration and insight Finding inner guidance Unlocking creativity

Self-healing

Developing intuition Chakra awakening, clearing and balancing Exploring higher realities

Manifesting

Reduce the use of prescriptive drugs Reduce chronic pain and muscle tension

Reduce emotional anxiety and the respiratory rate Decrease elevated blood pressure

Reduce cholesterol Reduce cortisol and stress levels

Reduce substance abuse Increase concentration and Increase longevity and quality of life.

Where visualisation uses the mind and the imagination for creative and healing purposes, the main purpose of meditation is to link with the higher self and spiritual source. This can only take place when the mind is still. All effective meditation techniques lead to this calming of the mind. In doing so, meditation allows the personality to make contact with the soul, providing a channel. Meditation is a great healing technique. Apart from its physical benefits, meditation has been shown to be effective in stress release. These positive effects act on the levels of mind and emotion to release stored negative and other unwanted energies. Repressed emotional and mental material may be stored in any part of the physical body or in the chakras. Meditation has the power to unblock these energies and bring renewed energy flow. In the meditative state we are wholly conscious, but the mind is as still as possible. If prayer can be described as “talking” mode then meditation can be described as “listening” mode.

Psychic Development Course Page 24

The mind is able to be slowed when we have something to focus on that helps it to distract itself. When we learn to slow our minds down and think of nothing without any help, we are able to bring ourselves into a state of total awareness. In this state 100% healing can take place and we are able to access our inner child and higher mind. With the use of soft or rhythmic music we are able to place our focus on something that does not need our intense concentration. Music has this ability to slow our thought process down. When we stop thinking, we start to truly listen to what is going on within ourselves. We are able to hear our higher mind and our inner child. We learn how to listen to our body and what it has to say. If something is off balance or not right, we are able to talk to our bodies and find out exactly what the problem is. Through meditation we learn to train our mind to function the way it was meant to. Instead of our mind controlling us, we control our mind. The soul becomes in charge once more. All our extra sensors open and we are able to access our hidden knowledge and gifts that are blocked from us through the mind stopping them coming through. Meditation provides all of these powerful healing tools. When you see a drama going on in your life, say to yourself that you refuse to be food for negativity. Start meditating and learn to bring back your self-awareness. Allow your inner frequencies to become open and alive. Allow love, joy and happiness to flow through you. Allow yourself to connect to mother earth and feel where you belong. Allow yourself to unite with the heavens and connect to your true destiny and purpose. Get into the habit of meditating and learn to slow your mind down and open yourself up to your inner awareness. You will learn how to tap into your body, higher mind and inner child. The point of meditation is not to discover some cool techniques to occupy your leisure hours; it’s to make the simple but momentous shift from doing to being. Don’t make the mistake of turning your meditation practice into another urgent item on your list of things to do. Use it, instead, as a welcome oasis from doing, an opportunity to be, without strategy or agenda. In other words, keep it simple. Play with a few of the techniques at first to decide which one feels right for you; then stick with the one you’ve chosen. It really doesn’t matter which method you use — they all end up depositing you in the here and now.

How to Meditate

General Guidelines for Meditation Put your expectations aside, and don't worry about doing it right. There are infinite possibilities and no fixed criteria for determining "right" meditation. There are, however, a few things to avoid. They are: • Trying to force something to happen. • Over-analyzing the meditation. • Trying to make your mind blank or chase thoughts away. • Putting too much emphasis on doing it right.

Psychic Development Course Page 25

It's not necessary, or advisable, to meditate on a completely empty stomach. If you're hungry, have a little something to eat before meditating. Find a quiet, comfortable place to meditate. You can sit in a comfortable chair, on the bed, on the floor - anywhere that's comfortable. It's not necessary to sit cross-legged. Eliminate as much noise and as many potential distractions as possible. Don't worry about those things that you cannot control. When you sit to meditate, sit comfortably, with your spine reasonably straight. This allows the spiritual energy to flow freely up the spine, which is an important aspect of meditation. Leaning against a chair back, a wall, headboard, etc. is perfectly all right. If, for physical reasons, you can't sit up, lay flat on your back (but try not to fall asleep). Place your hands in any position that is comfortable.

If it does not go against your beliefs, call on a "higher power" for assistance in your meditation. Any form you are comfortable with is all right. This can be quite helpful, but is not absolutely necessary. Meditation is so easy that it only takes up a small part of your day, so it can be done first thing in the morning and/or last thing at night. You could be on a bus, in a park, or even at the office in your lunch hour. It does not matter where you are - if you have a spare 5 minutes you can meditate. When you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to wake yourself up. Give yourself a good shake, then find somewhere where you can sit without being disturbed. It can be on the floor with a couple of pillows or even sitting up in bed, out in the morning sun, or anywhere where you feel comfortable. You can have some soft music on or, if you prefer, just have silence. There are numerous forms of meditation. Yoga, Tai-Chi, Mantras, Gazing and Freeform are the most common types practiced in the western world (see definitions below). No one way is better than another. What works for one person may not work for another. So it's best for a person to choose the type of meditation that feels the most comfortable for them. Of course, the next step is continual practice on a regular basis. Yoga and Tai-Chi These methods use physical movements or positions to focus the mind and body away from everyday happenings. The best way to learn Yoga or Tai-Chi is to find an experienced teacher or master and take a class. There are also a great number of instructional DVDs available today as well. These methods require several physical movements that lead the mind down a relaxing path into a relaxed state of awareness. Mantras

Mantra Meditation is the technique of using sound to open the heart and mind. This vocal method uses a personal sound, like a hum or phrase, to focus and clear the mind. Mantras can be whatever you choose; they do not need to be Sanskrit words, which are frequently used in Yoga. You can use whatever sounds you like. During an inhalation you may say, "I

Psychic Development Course Page 26

am" and during your exhalation "at peace." Or you may say simply recite, "I am". A Mantra is a sound repeated over and over until it integrates into your consciousness, frees the mind from its constant doing, and elevates the meditator to an altered state of awareness. Gazing

Uses an object, such as a crystal ball or candle, to help focus and find the meditative state. The Gazing method is much like the freeform method, the only difference being one you do with your eyes closed, the other you have your eyes open as you stare at an object. The object can be any object you choose. Many people like using a mirror, which is a very highly polished slice of stone or marble. An individual focuses on one point of the object, focuses on their breathing and allows their mind to move into an altered state of awareness. How to meditate with the Gazing Method

In this a regular candle is used, however, any other object of choice can be used (e.g. a flower). The candle is set up at an arm's distance, level with eyes, and steady gazing is first done with the eyes open. After some time, the eyes are closed, and the after image of the flame is 'gazed at' with eyes closed at the eye brow centre. Try not to move throughout the practice. Relax your breath, let it lengthen, deepen. This open gazing of the flame and then with the eyes closed is alternated a couple of times before concluding the practice. If using a candle for gazing, the gaze should be fixed at the wick tip and not on the flame.

Benefits:

This form of practice is believed to help improve the optic function, both external and internal, such as poor eyesight and visualization abilities. It helps develop concentration and mental resolve. Develops the ability to maintain focus amongst the noise and distractions of daily life. It also supports the development of Intuition. Freeform

This method is generally the most common type of meditation practiced today. Freeform is just that - it does not rely on sound, movement or visual stimulus to focus the mind and body. Rather, it uses your own ability to concentrate on nothing. Soft, relaxing music can accompany this form of meditation to help the mind block out background noises and distractions. The visualizations employed in the Freeform method help your conscious mind create some of those energy patterns to physically relax and push out stress from your body. These visualizations are highlighted in the following steps, to help you gain the most benefit from your meditation practice. However, once you learn the basics, you should think about changing the visualization patterns to best suit your own needs and interests. How to Meditate with the Freeform Method Choose a piece of music that you find relaxing. Classical and some soft Jazz can be used, but the best form of music is New Age. Many music stores are now carrying New Age music, so these should be easy to find. You can even find music created specifically for

Psychic Development Course Page 27

meditation exercises. Your meditation music should be totally orchestral (no vocals) and should act as sound barrier between you and the outside noises of the world. 1. Find a quiet place to sit and relax where you won't be disturbed for 20 to 30 minutes. Meditations have no time limit, but to really appreciate the event, a minimum of 30 minutes is really all that's needed. Many people like setting aside a full hour for their meditation period. This is fine too. 2. Sit or lie comfortably. Keep your back as straight as possible. Your arms should be placed comfortably in your lap with your palms up (if you are sitting) or at your sides with the palms up (if you are lying down). Remember that you're going to be in this one position for at least 30 to 60 minutes and that you want to be comfortable during that time. 3. Begin your meditation with a deep cleansing breath and close your eyes as you exhale.

4. With your eyes closed, focus on your breathing. Slowly, take in 5 long, deep breaths through your nose, filling your lungs to their fullest capacity. Then, just as slowly, exhale though your mouth, allowing your lungs to collapse as much as is comfortable for you. 5. Visualize: As you exhale, imagine the stressful events of the day or week being carried out through your mouth on a gray smoky cloud. Put these worries aside and begin to relax your entire body and mind. 6. Return to normal breathing and begin to relax each portion of your body, especially your muscles. Feel the tension in your muscles begin to subside. Visualize: With each inhale; imagine a Divine white light collecting inside your body around the solar plexus. With each breath you take in, this light grows stronger, more vibrant and soon begins to increase in size. Within a minute or two, the light grows so large that it encompasses the entire mid-section of your body. Now, begin by pushing the lower portion of the light down toward your toes slowly. Imagine the white light pushing all the stress and tension out of your muscles and your body, one at a time. Imagine this stressful energy like a gray smoke being pushed down your lower extremities until it's pushed out your toes. Now the lower half of you body is fully surrounded inside and out by this Divine white light. (This visualization should take approximately 1-2 minutes). Use the same technique to push the light from the solar plexus up your back, neck and head, pushing the "gray" stress out the top of your head (the Solar Plexus is a network of nerves in the abdominal cavity behind the stomach and just below the position where your rib cage meets). 7. This step takes a little practice. Don't worry if you can't do this for any extended period of time, but at least give it a try. (It gets easier with practice, but even daily practitioners don't do this step during their entire meditation). Keep your eyes closed, but look up at the pineal gland. This is a small gland located in the middle of your forehead, just above the brow. Try to keep your eyes focused on this point. The muscles around your eyes may become sore as you stretch them upward, so don't overdo this at first. As you practice, this step will become easier and easier to do. For centuries, the pineal gland has been considered by many to be the location of the third eye. This step then is a

Psychic Development Course Page 28

symbolic gesture to bridge the physical eyes with that of the third eye. 8. Now the hard part - clear your mind of the everyday fluff. Don't think about the work on your desk; don't make your grocery list, just think about being at peace. You are training your mind to shut down for several minutes and to do nothing. This is a state of mind foreign to most people but with practice you'll be able to do it. This step is the key to effective meditation. First timers may want to concentrate on their breathing instead. Keep it slow and relaxed.

Quieting the Mind - How do you do that? Many people believe they have to see nothing - just blackness. This, in fact, is keeping your mind busy and active trying to force yourself to see darkness. So there is a difference between thinking of nothing and quieting the mind. It's not as simple as it sounds, but it can be done. Calming the mind is left up to you, not to some outside force or mantra. The easiest way is through a visualized process. Each time your brain makes a list of things for you to do, shut it down by imagining yourself walking down a road away from your cares and troubles or through a field or along an empty beach. A useful visualization is to see a large ocean wave fall over the list and wash it away. Sometimes it's hard for people to tell which images are from their conscious mind and which are from their higher self. If you begin to see strange images, like potted plants or a hand coming from nowhere to give you a dozen roses, let it happen. As long as the image is non-threatening and peaceful, don't force it away.

Additional Meditation Techniques

Meditative Journeys A meditative journey is much like visualization, but with a specific purpose. You can visualize a specific set of images to get in touch with your higher consciousness, to travel to an island and meet your animal or spirit guide, or to your spiritual sanctuary to examine files in your Akashic records. The possibilities are endless and are bound only by the confines of your imagination. Visualisation CDs If you have a hard time with visualization, try finding CDs that guide you through a visualisation. These are excellent methods to help you learn how to reach that relaxed state or can be used for specific purposes, such as letting go, healing physical ailments, connecting with your guides, etc. The most important thing about meditation is to remember what that works for one person may not work for another. Everyone is different and trying different methods can help each person find what works best for them.

Misconceptions That Make Meditation Difficult

Misconception 1 - Meditation requires much training to get it right. Not true. Meditation can be easily learned and practiced. Meditation is only difficult if you become

Psychic Development Course Page 29

too concerned with doing it right. There is, in fact, no such thing as "right" or "wrong" meditation. There is only doing it or not doing it. Misconception 2 - To meditate, you have to turn off your thoughts and make your mind blank. Not 100% true. Have you ever tried to make your mind blank through sheer will? For most people, it's just not going to happen - at least, not for more than a few seconds. That's where the various methods come into play. By going through the steps of a particular method, your mind will begin to quiet down by itself - some days more, some days less, as your meditation experiences are likely to differ from day to day. Misconception 3 - To meditate, you have to be good at focusing your attention. Not true. Although staying focused in meditation does become easier with time and practice, it is definitely not a requirement for beginning to meditate. Thinking that you should be good at focusing when first starting out is essentially putting the cart before the horse. What you will discover is that even if you are not good at focusing, you will still begin to notice many benefits in your life from meditating regularly. Misconception 4 - There is one specific "state of meditation" and the aim is to get into that state. Not true. There are many possible states of awareness you might experience when meditating, and they are all part of the process of meditation.

4 Guidelines for Making Meditation Easy

1. Put your expectations aside. Forget about everything you may think is "supposed to" happen when you meditate, and completely accept whatever does happen. Regardless of what seems to be happening, if you are following the basic steps of your method, something valuable is occurring each time you meditate. Even if it seems as though nothing is happening, the meditation is catalysing positive changes on a deep inner level of your being, and before long you will begin noticing these inner changes manifesting in your outer life. 2. Thoughts are not your enemy. If you are busy fighting with your thoughts, how can you experience inner peace? Thoughts are a natural product of the mind, and are actually one of the ways that stored up stress is released in meditation. At times, the thoughts will subside on their own. The result of simply going through the steps of your method. However, as you continue meditating, you will discover that you can experience deep relaxation and inner peace, even when there are thoughts in your mind. 3. Meditate with relaxed effort. Relaxed effort, or "medium effort", is somewhere between the two extremes of strenuous concentration and no effort at all - between "trying your brains out" and simply spacing out. 4. The less concerned you are about what you experience in your meditation, the easier and more enjoyable it gets. Placing too much importance on anything tends to make it harder to attain.

Visualisation to Obtain Guidance

One of the functions of visualization is to create a situation where you can obtain information, guidance, reassurance, where you can get help in problem solving or where you can receive answers to important questions. This is sometimes known as creative imagery. This technique links up with the wisdom of the Higher Self, so honour this with your attitude to the exercise.

Sit comfortably, with your feet flat on the floor and your hands resting palms up on your thighs. Relax the elbows. Relax the body and let the shoulders drop. Take

three deep breaths and then breathe normally. In your mind’s eye you are setting off to a place where you will receive the guidance you need. You see yourself walking along a road. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful. You feel light and optimistic within yourself. You are making your way to a special house.

You see the house and recognize it by its appearance. The house has a welcoming feel, as if it is inviting you in. Go up to the front door, which is open. Inside you find yourself in a well-lit hallway which has some doors leading off it. You look at the doors. On one there is a label which says “guidance. please enter”.

Inside this room you will meet a wise person who will help you with your problem. Enter the room and wait patiently to see what happens. When you have received what you need, thank the wise person and close the door behind you. Leave the house carefully, noting as much as you can about it. Retrace your steps back and return to your seat.

Give yourself time to absorb the experience before you gently come back. Make sure you can feel your feet by moving your toes. Rub your hands together. Now make a note of the experience in as much detail as you can recall. Everything you see and experience is a clue to what you need. You can always return to that room and ask for what you need, just go back the same way as before.

Grounding and Balancing

After meditating, you might have noticed at times that you were light headed and dizzy afterwards. These are symptoms of not being fully grounded. Luckily there is something that you can do about it, but first of all, what is grounding yourself and why do you need it? When you meditate, your mind enters an altered state of mind, one that no longer resonates with our physical world. As they say, you are ‘somewhere else’, and no longer in contact with the here and now. While this is the desired state to be during meditation or any energy and psychic work, when you end that work, your mind has to come back, after all, here is where you function normally. By having your mind in the clouds as they say, you are more prone to accidents and other misfortunes and you’ll simply not be able to function correctly. Here are some of the signs that you might not be grounded enough:

you’re dizzy and disconnected

Psychic Development Course Page 31

you have a headache you’re clumsy and dreamy you might even be a bit nauseous you are forgetful of simple things you are low in energy and feel down

If you feel some of these more often, you should do something about it. Grounding yourself is important. You can ground yourself in various ways, depending on the time you have at hand and whether you are all alone or not.

Once you finish your meditation, yoga, reiki, massage therapy or other such energy work, drink plenty of cold water. If you perform energy work on others, such as reiki or

massage, wash your hands afterwards. This grounds you back into the here and now

and separates you and another person's energies. If you are out in the nature near some trees, go ahead and hug a tree. Tree hugging is not all silly, there is a reason for it. By hugging (or touching) a tree, you ground yourself

back to the earth and draw its healing energy into your body.

Do some grounding meditation or visualization exercises. Sometimes even some grounding breathing is enough.

Gardening is a great way to ground yourself. You are actually working with the earth, and this is exactly what you want to touch for best way to ground yourself the fastest

way possible.

Eating something sugary grounds you, so if you like sweet stuff, this is a good excuse to indulge (ever so slightly). The next step in the journey is part of what we have been discussing, and that is psychic development – how to develop your intuition and psychic abilities.

PSYCHIC DEVELOPMENT

When we live away from nature, our hearts generally become hard. A lack of respect for growing, living things soon leads to a lack of respect for animals and other people. Those of us who live in large communities, big towns and cities today are not so close to the natural world and, as a result, our normal perceptions and perceived capabilities are not adequately exercised and developed. This means that we only use a comparatively small part of our sensory equipment. When you fine-tune your ordinary senses, it results in an expansion of awareness. In order to awaken the sixth or psychic sense, we first need to awaken the five senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing. Making better use of the ordinary senses is the first step to awakening the inner psychic senses. And this is something we can all practice.

EXERCISE: Awakening Your Senses 1. Take yourself to a peaceful place in nature, among the trees. This might be on a hillside or near a river or stream. Even in our modern cities there should be a park where you can be surrounded by some natural beauty. 2. Find a tree that has space around it, and a good-sized trunk. Sit facing the direction of the sun, with your back against the tree trunk so that you can sit upright in comfort with the trunk of the tree supporting your back. 3. Now spend a few minutes concentrating on each of your senses in turn:

Sight. Watch the sunlight dance on the leaves of the trees; notice the rich shades of the colours of the leaves. Explore the colours of flowers and shrubs, and the crinkly pattern of the leaves. In winter, examine the texture of the tree trunks and the arms and fingers of the branches. Watch the clouds as they move across the sky. Consider the weaving of the grass near your feet. Watch the movement of any animals, birds or insects that are around you. Just put all your attention into looking and seeing. Hearing. Now switch all your attention to listening. Just listen for and to the sounds of nature. Hear the whisper of the wind in the trees, the songs of the birds, the rustle of small moving creatures, the hum of insects. Touch. Concentrate on the sense of touch. Feel the warmth of the sun on your face, the caress of the wind in your hair, or the kiss of rain on your lips. Take off your shoes and let your feet sink into the soft, springy ground beneath you. Feel your oneness with nature. Smell. Smell the scent of the grass, the sweet fragrance of flowers, the earthiness of the soil beneath your feet. Put all your attention into your sense of smell and breathe in the fragrance of nature. Taste. The senses of smell and taste are linked. For each scent in the air, open your mouth and allow your tongue to discover the taste of it. It may start the saliva flowing as your taste buds respond to the freshness.

Psychic Development Course Page 33

If you spend at least five minutes putting each of your senses to work in this way, you will experience a contact with nature that you have possibly never known. Even if you only spend half an hour each week in this tranquillity, within a few weeks you will recognize an opening of your senses, a sharpening of your intuition and creativity, and an awareness of the spirit of things. One day, when you perform this exercise, you will become aware of the sounds behind those of the Earth; the hidden sounds of nature.

THE BENEFITS OF DEVELOPING PSYCHIC ABILITIES Having psychic abilities allows you to:

• Save time, energy and money on the small things • Avoid paths which are going to be dead-ends for you

• See beyond your logic and understand the "why" of the events, people and situations that show up in your life

• Make decisions without agonizing or hesitation • Know what is going to bring you joy and fulfilment and what isn't, before you try it

• You want to learn to read auras & know who other people really are

Most people are not used to listening to their spirit or taking action based upon what their intuition says. Western culture, with its emphasis on science, does not encourage or promote listening to something so intangible, especially something that comes from within. Instead, our scientific, rational culture encourages us to gather evidence and guidance from many external places and then weigh it up. That is a very reasonable approach. On the other hand, intuitive guidance is not reasonable and does not gather information from many sources, so it is often considered an untrustworthy source of information. As a result, we often doubt or second–guess our intuitive guidance and we do not communicate it to others. After all, if others ask us to justify our responses or back up our information, all we can say is that we just "know it", or that our intuition is telling us. Most people want to hear concrete facts, backed up with evidence. So we often learn to keep our mouths shut when we feel we know things (without knowing how we know). Learning to listen to your intuition and psychic awareness means that you are led not so much by fear or ego, but led by your spirit. This breeds courage, growth and faith in the universe. That is why psychic, personal and spiritual development cannot be separated. When you develop your psychic abilities, you grow as a person and you grow spiritually. But you probably already knew those things, right?

Exercise to Develop Your Psychic Ability Using fairly thick white cardboard, create a set of six cards using the symbols below. To aid the clarity of the images ensure that the symbols are in bold, dark blue against a white background and that you cannot see the symbols through the card. You will also need a notebook in which to keep a record of your progress, as this will help you to monitor your improvement. Write the numbers 1 to 21 down the left-hand side of your notebook.

Psychic Development Course Page 34

Keep your practice sessions standard, i.e. make the same number of attempts each session. We recommend that you do this exercise a total of 21 times in each session. These are the symbols:

1. Shuffle your six cards so that you cannot see the symbols. 2. Place the cards face down and side-by-side on a table in front of you.

3. Choose a card and place it in front of you. Do not look at the symbol.

4. Now gently concentrate your attention on the card. 5. Note the first symbol that appears to you. You may see it, hear it or simply sense it, depending on whether you are naturally clairvoyant, clairaudient or clairsentient. 6. Once you sense what the card is (remember to go with your first impression) turn it over. 7. Each time you are correct put a check on your list in your notebook. 8. Gather the cards together again, repeat steps 1 to 7 and work through them until you have done this twenty-one times. 9. At the end of the session, total the number of checks you have and make a note of it. Do not be worried if your score is initially low. Remember that you are developing a new skill and will improve. Also, do not be concerned if you seem to get worse for a while. The reason is that your mind often rebels against your efforts to change it. However, it invariably cooperates with you within a short period of time. Included in your course folder are some for you to print out, as well as instructions on how to use them, and a score sheet. Test some of your friends for some fun and see how successful you are with the test 

Exercise for Remote Viewing Remote viewing is the ability to gather information about an item hidden from physical view, often at a long distance. To do a simple remote-viewing exercise you need four people: the controller, two observers and the viewer. The reason for the controls and checks is that it is easy to pass information on telepathically, rather than by remote viewing. The controller selects pictures or images that will be the targets – the objects the viewer will describe. These images should be different from each other and quite specific. For example, a row of buildings would not be a good subject because of their similarities. However, the Golden Gate Bridge or any unique-looking structure would be ideal. Only the controller may know what

Psychic Development Course Page 35

the images are. Each image is then sealed in an opaque envelope (it is a good idea to place this envelope inside a second envelope). Each envelope is given a unique number. One of the observers will select one of the envelopes at random and take it somewhere away from the viewer. It could be the next room, a different town or even another country. At a pre-arranged time, he will open the envelope and look at the picture or target for a previously-agreed length of time. The viewer needs a pen and note pad or even a tape recorder and should be in a place that is free from as much external distraction as possible. It has been discovered that a low light is helpful. It is also helpful to take time to relax and clear the mind, so as to be open and receptive. The second observer will be in the same room as the viewer. At the pre-arranged time, the viewer focuses on the target and either speaks, writes or draws his impressions. If he is experiencing difficulty, the observer with him may assist by asking questions. As he has no idea what the picture is, these may be specific, yet general. For example, "what colours do you see; what sounds do you hear?" Let's assume that the first observer is looking at a picture of the Statue of Liberty. If the viewer has already said, for instance, “I see a tall, metal structure,” the questions might be "Is the structure inside or outside? Is it a solid structure? How does the structure make you feel?" When the specified time is up, the first observer replaces the target in the envelope and notes on it the date and time it is sealed. If nearby, he returns to the viewer's location and hands over the envelope to the controller. The four people meet together so that the viewer can receive feedback. This is a very important step as it reinforces the viewer's skill. Example of Early Impressions A note here on what you can expect from the viewer -using the example of the Statue of Liberty, what the viewer may tell you or draw for you could be rudimentary fragments – remember this is a skill you are developing, for instance, you may see sketches. The viewer may use words like "metal structure", "surrounded by water", or "tall". When asked about his feelings regarding what he sees, he may come up with words like "free", "excitement" or "fear", if he is afraid of heights. If you ask him what he can smell, hear or see, then he may say "lots of people", "water", or "green". It would very unlikely, at this early stage, that he could tell you it was the Statue of Liberty. However, once the skill had been fully developed, with regular and consistent practice, it would be possible to name targets that you recognized. There are many things you need to do in order to get to a place where you can use your psychic awareness to help you in your life. The formula for developing psychic abilities involves a collection of exercises, techniques, knowledge and a great deal of practice. There is so much you can do to develop your psychic abilities that it gets very hit–and– miss for people — they often don't know where to start. The other problem with developing psychic abilities is that often you need to be careful about which order you do the exercises and techniques in. If you begin with an advanced technique before you've laid

Psychic Development Course Page 36

the groundwork, you will fail before you have even begun and that can be very discouraging. Psychic abilities include psychometry, clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, telepathy, and many more.

Why the Alpha State is Important to Psychic Development

Before we move on to discussing the clair senses in more detail, let's have a look at why the alpha state is so important to psychic development. There are four types of brain waves that can occur while you're thinking, sleeping, dreaming, concentrating and doing what you do – those brain waves are called beta, alpha, theta, and delta.

Brain wave states that occur with certain activities:

Cycles per Type of brain Activities second wave

Fully Conscious / Awake – the conscious mind is busy, 21 > 14 BETA concentrating and engaged in this

state

Light Sleep / Dreams / Meditation / 14 > 7 ALPHA Daydreams/ Creative Visualization

/ Connection to the subconscious

Deep Sleep / Lucid dreaming / 7>4 THETA Deep Trance / Deep

Very deep sleep or an 3>1 DELTA unconscious state

Beta is the brain wave that's present for your normal waking state and all the busy-ness that happens during this state. Most of us are in beta (fully conscious / awake /

Psychic Development Course Page 37

concentrating) throughout the day. But note that you cannot usually receive psychic insights or intuitive guidance in a beta state. That's the state where your conscious mind is fully engaged and operative and everything is busy, busy, busy. You need to be in an alpha state (at the least) to receive psychic information. It would be like being tuned into the wrong radio station. You're trying to connect to the frequency your guides are at (alpha) – the equivalent of some high-brow far-away longwave radio station, set on an island somewhere. But all you can hear is your mind chattering about anything and everything (in beta) – the equivalent of some rubbish local breakfast show with lots of adverts and small talk: “What shall I have for dinner tonight?”, “Oh, it's raining, someone needs to bring the washing in”, etc, etc. Likewise, if you're trying to hear your own guides, you may just hear thoughts. You're just listening to yourself. This is because you're in beta. The quickest and easiest way to get yourself into Alpha state is through meditation (yes, meditation again). Let's now move on to the clair senses and how to develop them.

Clairvoyance Clairvoyance means "clear-seeing". Almost everyone knows what clairvoyance is – it's the ability to see Spirit through your third eye. Clairvoyants can see energy fields, spirits, symbols and get visual premonitions. Developing clairvoyance isn't difficult. The energy centre that receives the psychic impressions for this sense is located in the centre of the forehead (the third eye chakra). Some clairvoyants see things in their mind's eye and some can see with their physical eyes. Both are possible, but it's more common to see in the mind's eye. Whereas a clairsentient might look at your photo and pick up on your feelings and emotions, a clairvoyant would probably see your aura, the essence of your spirit and Spirit Guides or Angels around you. When reading a situation, a clairvoyant may see a symbol or a movie- scene which is a metaphor for the situation. Receiving clairvoyant images is one thing, but not all clairvoyants are gifted at interpreting what they see. To interpret, you need to use your claircognizance or clairaudience as well. All of the intuitive vehicles are meant to work together. Clairvoyance is a part of the larger phenomenon known as extra sensory perception (ESP). It describes the ability to discern images that are not perceived by the other five senses, seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and speaking. Persons who possess this ability of sixth sense are capable of receiving messages transmitted even through temporal distances. In clairvoyance, visions of events of past or future, and visions of events covering large geographic distances and visions of events happening simultaneously at different locations are perceived paranormally. Clairvoyant abilities are often exhibited during the times of heightened stress or just after that. Examples of such times are times of serious sickness, accident, extreme physical danger or close to death experiences. A section of people believed to be clairvoyant

Psychic Development Course Page 38

appear to have mastered controlling their brainpower and thereby have acquired stronger psychic abilities.

Exercise to Develop your Clairvoyant Abilities Even if you're not a natural clairvoyant, you can still develop your clairvoyance. Visualize yourself holding seven balloons, of the colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and indigo. Let the balloons go one by one, beginning with the red balloon. Watch them float up to the blue sky until they disappear before you release the next one. If you're not used to visualizing, then this exercise could be quite difficult for you at first. You may find it hard to concentrate or it may be difficult for you to visualize vividly or in colour. It all depends on how developed your imagination muscles are. Any activity which uses your visual imagination is good for strengthening clairvoyant abilities, because your imagination is the tool that Spirit uses to send you information, in the form of images. The more well-oiled your imagination cogs are, the easier it is for spirit to send you clear images. How can you tell the difference between what's from your imagination and what's from Spirit? When you receive an image from Spirit, you are not in control. You are not creating the image. It just appears in your mind's eye without any active participation from you. Another way to open up your clairvoyance: Imagine a third eye between your eyebrows. Visualize the eyelid on your third eye opening up. All visualization does is set an intention to do something. If you visualize this regularly, you're putting energy behind your intention to open up your third eye, the centre of your clairvoyant abilities. Blocks to Clairvoyance

A few people who are natural clairvoyants never see any evidence of their gift. When this happens, it usually means there is a blockage or an energy leak at the third eye chakra. At the bottom of this there tends to be some trauma caused by having seen something unexpected or unpleasant. Any general blocks to truth can also affect your clear-seeing (and the overall state of your intuitive faculties). For example, if you live your life in a state of denial or falsehood, your clairvoyance will be weakened. If you want to have strong intuition, get into the habit of facing up to the truth in your life, if you're not already. If you lie to yourself about something on a regular basis, it weakens your trust in your own perceptions and intuition and this will affect your clairvoyant abilities.

More Exercises: 1. Place a lapis lazuli or clear quartz crystal over your third eye chakra. Even go into a crystal shop with the intention of finding the right crystal to help you to open up your third eye. You may feel particularly drawn to one crystal, which may help you. Use the affirmation "I am profoundly clairvoyant. It is safe for me to see". Release and heal whatever fears/trauma you have around seeing spirits.

Psychic Development Course Page 39

2. When just beginning to work on developing your clairvoyance, try the exercises with your eyes closed. This will reduce distractions. Once you become more familiar with the third eye, you will discover that you can access it easily whether your eyes are open or closed. To begin, close your eyes and see the "inner screen" of your mind. Do you see anything? Sometimes you'll see moving lights or shapes in the blackness, other times you may not. Stay like this for a moment, paying attention to anything you see. Now shift your focus slightly up, towards the centre of your forehead (eyes still closed). Visualize this area of your forehead "opening" like an expanding circle. You are now accessing the third eye centre. Don't force it or strain too hard, you'll only end up giving yourself a headache! Just sit quietly, focusing on this area of your inner vision, and notice if you see anything. Don't be discouraged if you don't right away. With frequent practice, you will develop. If you are already fairly well developed in clairvoyance, you may see faces, shapes or images without having to wait too long. 3. Once you begin to develop, you might want to try remote viewing (mentioned in more detail elsewhere in this manual). Sit quietly and visualize a place other than where you are. You might try visualizing your parents' home, your place of work, or even another room of your house. Shift your focus upward to the third eye area and see if you pick up anything that may be happening in that other place. Make a note of what you see, and then try to verify it and see if you were correct. For example, before going to work, sit quietly and try to "see" what a particular co-worker will be wearing that day. Make a note of any impressions you get. When you get to work, see if you were correct. See if you can tell what's happening in your best friend's home at the moment you are remote viewing, then call her/him and ask what they were just doing. I think you may be surprised by how often you will be correct. And of course with frequent practice, you'll be even better. 4. People who are fairly well developed in clairvoyance may often see things out of the corner of their eye. In buildings where there is paranormal activity, this is quite common. You might see streaks or orbs of light; you might see a shadow pass by, or an actual silhouette of a person or animal. But when you turn your head to get a better look, it's gone. Why is that? Because when you turn to FOCUS on something, your physical eyes assume the majority of the focus. Try a little experiment right now - look straight ahead at a particular object (the computer screen is fine). Notice that you can see out of the corners of your eyes (this is your peripheral field of vision). Even while keeping your gaze focused straight ahead, you can still see to the right and left. You are more likely to see something non-physical out of the corner of your eye simply because your focus is relaxed in that area. Now try another experiment - look straight ahead, but relax your entire focus. Let your eyes go slightly out of focus, so that everything looks kind of blurry or hazy. In this state, your third eye will take over while your physical eyes are resting. Keep doing this and you may start seeing all kinds of things, from apparitions to auras.

Clairaudience

Clairaudience means "clear-hearing". It is the ability to hear Spirit. Clairaudience is that little voice inside you that issues warnings or gives guidance. It tends to speak to you when you are in danger or when you have an important decision to make that will impact on your life. If you don't have clairaudience as one of your psychic gifts, it can be developed. The locations for this sense are on each side of the head, just above the ears. If clairaudience is one of your natural intuitive gifts, your Higher Self and Spirit Guides will use mostly clairaudient means to communicate with you, including sounds, words and songs you're familiar with. These can be internal or they can be outside of you. You may also hear voices in your dreams or upon waking. Clairaudients tend to hear more than most people. People who are bothered by loud noises are naturally predisposed towards clairaudience because of their heightened sensitivity. Clairaudients often hear ringing in their ears. Some clairaudients interpret this as a sign to pay attention and consciously tune in to their intuition. Musicians are often clairaudient. There are many accounts of composers who have heard or dreamt of a melody playing internally before they put it down on paper. The first step to developing your clairaudience is to really fine-tune your sense of hearing.

Exercise to develop your clairaudience Listen carefully to all the sounds you hear around you while you're lying in bed at night – the sounds of cars passing, the sounds of birds or animals, of a plane, of people talking, the sound of music. We normally tune out these noises so that we can concentrate or sleep. But when you tune out noise, you dull your perception and you become less sensitive to your inner voice. When you begin to listen consciously to the noise that you normally tune out, you will hear an "orchestra" of sounds. Your objective with this exercise is to notice each and every one of these sounds that make up this "orchestra". Take it apart. Count how many sounds you can hear and make a note of what they are. Some may be really subtle and barely noticeable. The goal here is really to heighten your auditory perception. Do this every night for a week before you go to sleep and you will be amazed at how much you were not hearing before. This will begin to activate your clairaudience. Clairaudient Listening

You can also actively listen for clairaudient guidance.

Visualize turning on a radio and tuning into the "channel" of your intuition or your spirit guides. Imagine them sitting around a table, ready to communicate with you. Then, start asking questions. See if you can "hear" or perceive any words – it could be a clear voice that is easy to discern or you may have to really focus and go inside yourself to hear it clearly. If you don't hear anything at all, don't give up on your first attempt. For most people it takes practice

Psychic Development Course Page 41

and persistence to get into the habit of listening to your intuition. I noticed from a young age that every now and then music would pop into my head and when I listened to the words, they were always pertinent to the situation. Some tips

Set the intention to utilize your clairaudience. Write it down somewhere, as this reinforces it.

Don't block your clairaudience through fear of hearing something negative/frightening. If you're afraid of hearing spirit for fear of being spooked, intend

only to hear your spirit guides and Higher Self, who have your best intentions at heart and who would never knowingly scare you. Ask your spirit guide to keep out negative energies. Remember that if you keep your vibration high and deal only in positive energies, you won't attract negative energies anyway.

Meditate - again. Intuitive guidance often comes through the gaps between our thoughts. Meditation quietens the mind and creates more gaps in our thoughts so our

intuitive guidance can more easily be heard during meditation. Use affirmations to develop clairaudience, such as "It is safe to hear my inner voice" or "I am powerfully clairaudient".

Clairsentience

Clairsentience means "clear- feeling". It is perhaps the most down-to-earth of all the intuitive gifts. Most people use clairsentience on a daily basis. This looks like your feelings sending you intuitive guidance. Just to give a common example: you may experience a feeling of discomfort and then intuitively feel the impulse to look behind you only to see someone staring at you. This sense is located in the solar plexus. Clairsentient guidance usually falls into one of three categories: Gut Feelings Gut feelings are strong emotional responses that feel almost physical – for example, a feeling of dread or a feeling of excitement. A sinking feeling in my gut means that something is not going to end well or is to be avoided. An uplifted, excited feeling in my gut means that I am on the right track. Hindsight will show you that gut feelings appear for a reason, often to warn you against something or someone. Gut feelings allow you to sense very quickly whether or not you like and trust someone.

Empathy

Empathy is a psychic gift. It is the ability to pick up on the feelings of other people and know what it is like to be the other person. Empathy can be a double-edged sword. It allows you to put yourself in other peoples' shoes more easily, however, if you're an unskilled empath, you can be like a sponge - absorbing and feeling emotions which aren't your own. Do you ever experience overwhelming negative feelings which seem to have no cause? Then you could be feeling someone else's feelings. See the section on empathy in this manual.

Physical Feelings Clairsentience can also speak to you through sensations in your body - like tickling or pressure, or even goosebumps or the hair on your arms standing raised.

Exercise to develop your clairsentience further 1. Ask a friend to show you a picture of somebody they know well (but make sure you don't know the person in the picture) Look into the person's eyes and tune into their energy – how do they feel at the moment of the photo being taken? If this is the first time you have consciously used your clairsentience, you may just pick up on a basic negative or positive vibe. Ask yourself what this individual is like as a person. Ask yourself whether you trust the person. Is there anything else the person's eyes are revealing? Now check with your friend – how accurate were you?

2. Close your eyes and focus on your solar plexus. Visualize this area opening, like a widening circle. Do you sense anything? If you are alone in the room, you might not. This sense very often picks up vibrations from other people and places. If you're picking up your own vibes, you likely won't feel anything noticeable. However, you could try thinking about a certain upcoming event, a potential job or mate, while keeping this area open too. Do you get anything then? Pay attention to what you feel when you think about certain things, and note any impressions you get.

Claircognizance

So many people are gifted claircognizants and are unaware of the ability they have. Claircognizance means "clear-knowing". Claircognizants "know" certain things without being told. For claircognizants, their higher self or spirit guides put information (in the form of thought) into their mind. This can be a whole load of information that is "downloaded" into the mind. It can be smaller insights about people and situations here and there. It can be an inspired idea. All claircognizance is characterized by this strong sense of knowing that goes beyond logic and by the fact that the intuitive information comes into the thinking mind, not into the heart or the mind's eye. The location for this sense is the crown chakra.

Psychic Development Course Page 43

claircognizants tend to be very mentally-oriented people. They are often analytical and are good at understanding abstract concepts and solving problems. As children, they seem to know too much and have an answer for everything. They were probably labelled know-it- alls growing up. Claircognizance is very common but not as well-known as clairvoyance or clairaudience. Few people have heard of claircognizance. Most people think of visions and clairvoyance when they hear the word psychic. Many expect their intuition to be a voice from heaven or an amazing premonition. Some Psychics can see dead people and hear voices, but many gifted psychics receive information through less "dramatic" channels like claircognizance. However, if you're expecting visions and fireworks and voices, you may miss your claircognizance. Claircognizance is no less powerful for being subtle. Anyone who had channelled information in written form () is utilizing their claircognizance. Some Examples of claircognizance:

You have a sense of inner knowing that it would not be a good idea to accept the job you've just been offered, despite the fact that it seems perfect.

You have a certainty that someone is lying about something, despite evidence to the contrary.

You receive information about future outcomes. You get a truly inspired idea.

A common question that people ask about claircognizance is that if claircognizance comes in the form of thought, how can you tell the difference between claircognizance and your own thoughts? There is a key difference between thoughts and claircognizant input -when you're thinking, your conscious mind is in control. When you receive claircognizant information, your conscious mind is only observing the information that is coming in and sometimes tries to interpret it, it is not generating the information. The claircognizant information just comes from nowhere and it often has nothing to do with what you were thinking about. Another difference is that thoughts are usually ego-based and want to protect you from failure, embarrassment or disappointment. Claircognizance transcends those fears and comes from a place of wisdom. Claircognizance may only make sense in hindsight. Your thoughts won't usually require you to take a leap of faith, whereas claircognizance might.

Exercises to Develop your Claircognizance

While sitting quietly, close your eyes and focus your attention on the top of your head. Visualize a large funnel or cone above your head, the narrowest point just above your head, extending upward to the widest point, about a foot above your head. Notice any impressions you receive, no matter how faint or unusual they may be. You can do this while thinking about a specific event or situation, and see if you can predict certain things, such as things that might happen to you that day, or perhaps people you will run

Psychic Development Course Page 44

into unexpectedly. Or you can just do this in a general way, by opening yourself to

whatever may come through. It is important to acknowledge what you receive. Don't just chalk it up to imagination right away. Make a note of what you perceive, no matter how

strange or farfetched it might seem at first. With practice you'll discover your accuracy

improving, and likely this ability will begin activating itself without any effort on your part. You'll be one of those people who say, "I just know." Automatic writing is suitable for receiving claircognizant information, as it often comes through in big chunks. This is covered more fully later in this manual.

Merely setting the intention for your claircognizance to develop will start the process. Write your intention down as this will make it more powerful.

Make time for intuitive guidance. Meditation helps to quieten the mind, and divine guidance can then come through more easily than it can to a distracted mind. Imagine your crown chakra opening up and you may find that you receive spontaneous intuitive insights upon doing that. Some people like to visualize a funnel being placed upon the crown chakra, to funnel the intuitive guidance. When you're in a relaxed state and ready to receive intuitive guidance, if none is forthcoming, start the process by asking a question of your Higher Self and see what comes into your mind. Often your claircognizance is already operating and waiting to be recognized as guidance. Become more aware of your thoughts. In particular, be very aware of what thoughts you are having when you meet someone new or when you're being told about a situation that you know little about. See what you glean about that person/situation between the lines and, if you can, get it validated.

Clairgustance

The paranormal ability to taste a substance without putting anything in one's mouth. It is claimed the those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste.

Clairalience

Clairalience or "Clear Smelling" is the phenomenon where sensitive people can smell the odour of the person who is not on the earth plane, such as their pipe tobacco, cigarettes, food smells, different spices as though they are coming from a kitchen, perfume or deodorant. Some Mediums profess to smell the places where the deceased person worked like a chemical factory, the docks, the places to be reminded of for the recipient of a message off the platform in the church or meeting place or in a development Circle.

Clairtangency (also known as Psychometry)

Psychometry is a psychic ability in which a person can sense or read the history of an object just by touching it. Such a person can receive impressions from an object by

Psychic Development Course Page 45

holding it in their hands or, perhaps, touching it to the forehead. These impressions can be perceived as images, sounds, smells, tastes, or even emotions (the clair senses). Psychometry is a form of scrying - a psychic way of seeing something that is not able to be perceived with the physical eyes. Some people can scry using a crystal ball, black glass or even the surface of water. With psychometry, this extraordinary vision is available through touch. For example, a person who has psychometric abilities can hold an antique ring and be able to tell something about the history of that ring, about the person who owned it, about the experiences that person had whilst in the possession of that ring, or they may be able to sense what the person was like, what they did and even how they died. Perhaps most important, the psychic can sense how the person felt - the emotions of the person at a particular time. Emotions especially, it seems, are most strongly recorded in objects. The psychic may not be able to do this with all objects at all times and, as with all psychic abilities, accuracy can vary. Here's how you can try it yourself: 1. Choose a location that is quiet and as free of noises and distractions as possible.

2. Sit in a relaxed position with your eyes closed. Rest your hands in your lap with your palms facing up. 3. With your eyes remaining closed, ask someone to place an object in your hands. (The person should not say anything; in fact, it is best if there are several people in the room and you don't know who the person is giving you the object.) Preferably, the object should be something the person has had in their possession for a long time. 4. Be still, and as images and feelings come into your mind, speak them aloud. Don't try to process the impressions you get. Say whatever you see, hear, feel or otherwise sense as you hold the object. 5. Don't judge your impressions. These impressions may be strange and meaningless to you, but they may be of significance to the owner of the object. Also, some impressions will be vague and others may be quite detailed. Don't edit – just speak them all. A good example of this is whilst I was on an animal communication course. The teacher asked us to tell her what the favourite food of the animal in the photo that she gave us was (we each received a different photo). As luck would have it, I got the photo of her dog. After communicating with her dog, I saw in my mind's eye the dog running from a river with a fresh fish in his mouth. My logical mind took over and questioned what I saw, but I decided to tell her exactly what I saw anyway. It turned out that she took her dog for a walk by the river near her mom's house in the Magaliesberg and somehow he got a live fish and ate it, which to him was the best food he had ever eaten. This experience reminded me to never question what I see, merely repeat it to the person you are doing the reading (or whatever) for, and let them come back to you with validation.

Psychic Development Course Page 46

The more you try, the better you will become at it. You should start to see better results as your mind becomes used to seeing the information. Don't worry too much about your rate of accuracy either, especially at first. Keep in mind that even the most renowned psychometrists have an accuracy rate of 80 to 90 percent; that is, they are inaccurate 10 to 20 percent of the time. It is also important not to try to figure out likely histories of the object, not to analyse and interpret your impressions, to find if they make sense. It's better to simply observe all the impressions that come into your mind and describe them without clinging to them and without trying to control them. Often the most unexpected images are likely to be most correct.

Discover Which is Your Strongest Intuitive Gift

The chances are that you already have innate abilities in one or two of these gifts. The chances also are that there are one or two of the above gifts that you do not have yet. Your intuition will be difficult and slow to develop if you try to develop a gift that you don't have yet and neglect the gifts you do have, that's why it helps to start your journey of intuitive development knowing what you're naturally good at.

Here is a quiz to help you to find out what gifts you already have:

Clairvoyance - the ability to see Spirit Do you in colour and with vivid images?

When you're doing creative work, like designing something and deciding how you want something to look, do you get a clear image in your head of it? When you close your eyes, can you clearly see any object of your choosing? For example, visualize a bicycle. Can you see it in your mind's eye? (Natural clairvoyants usually have an easier time than most at visualizing). Do you get visual solutions to problems in your mind's eye?

Are you very visually/artistically creative?

Do you ever see lights or auras around people when you're speaking to them?

Do you ever see things moving in the corner of your eye?

Clairaudience - the ability to hear your Higher Self, Spirit Guides and other extra-sensory input Have you ever had a voice clearly direct you to do something and it turned out to be helpful or accurate? Have you ever heard ringing or buzzing sounds in your ears?

Do you hear voices upon waking or going to sleep?

Do you sometimes hear music playing in your head?

Psychic Development Course Page 47

Do you wake up in the morning with a song in your head?

Have you ever heard anything outside of you, such as whispering, music or voices when there was no-one there? Do you get words popping into your head fully formed which are relevant or solutions to difficulties you're having?

Clairsentience - intuition in the form of emotional input, physical feelings or gut feelings Do you get tingling sensations on your body for no reason?

Do you feel your emotions very deeply?

Can you feel the emotions of others?

Do you need a lot of time alone to recharge your energetic batteries?

Are you sensitive and thin-skinned?

Do you know what the right path is to take according to how it feels to you?

Claircognizance - when intuitive information just pops into your head

Are you very analytical and thinking-oriented?

Can you be sceptical – does your mind often have the final say in things?

Do you get lots of great ideas seemingly out of nowhere?

Are you mentally and creatively inspired on a regular basis?

Are you good at solving problems and lateral thinking?

Are you often making subtle assumptions which turn out to be true?

Are you sizing up people and knowing things without being told?

Do you know that things are going to happen ahead of time?

Do you come across as a know-it-all because you always think of an answer to the difficult questions of life? Now add up how many times you said yes to statements in each category. Did you say yes to some statements in one or two categories in particular? Maybe even all of them?

More tips to find out which gifts you have 1. Experiment. Try exercises to awaken each sense. Try each one of the exercises under the "clair" headings. You may notice that one of the exercises is really easy for you and awakens something in your perception. 2. Notice where you're already using your natural gifts. Remember the times when you received some intuitive guidance – how did it come? Was it visual, auditory, emotional or

Psychic Development Course Page 48

kinesthetic? If you can't really remember any such times, the above should help jog your memory. Now let's take a closer look at empathy, which was briefly mentioned under the clairsentience section.

Empathy

Many people, especially clairsentient, sensitive, intuitive and lightworkers, often experience problems with their empathy and energetic boundaries. Empathy is the ability to temporarily step out of your experience and step into another person's experience, and perceive it as they do, whether it's an emotional, mental, physical, intellectual or spiritual experience. This is usually an involuntary response. Empathy is a gift that a lot of people have, to varying degrees. If you have the gift of empathy, you NEED to know how to turn it on and off. Ideally, you want to be able to use it at will and then turn it off when necessary. An empath is someone who feels what other people are feeling. This doesn't mean you can get an idea for how other people feel just some of the time. Being an empath means you were born with the ability to enter someone else's aura and explore another person's feelings and experience of life, on an intimate level. Much of the time this is done unconsciously. On the upside, you know what it feels like to be another person, so you're often great at relating to others. Empathy is also a psychic gift and you can use it to read other people. On the downside (there are lots of downsides until you learn to get empathy under control), is that you are like a sponge (who is often wet and full of other peoples' emotions – the conscious ones and the unconscious ones.) You may have the feeling that you're weird or emotionally unstable, and that you have sensitivity issues that other people don't have. Let's see if you can relate to the following: Signs that you're an "unskilled" empath include:

Feeling the world's suffering on a large scale and wishing you could do something to help. Ironically, this makes you less equipped to help, because you feel overwhelmed.

Finding it difficult to watch the news or distressing images because you feel the pain of the person/people you're watching, as if you're them

Finding it difficult to fully be present to yourself and your own feelings when conversing with other people. This is because you're busy exploring their aura and responses to life

and not your own. Shyness – empathy can make you somewhat self-conscious as you're very aware of the effect your words have on another person and what they're thinking and feeling in

response. A tendency to say yes to the requests and demands of other people – almost as a reflex; without thinking about whether you actually want to. When you're so immersed in

Psychic Development Course Page 49

another person's experience of life and what they need – how can you say no? It's only

afterwards that you realize you forgot yourself and your own needs. A general tendency to put your needs last, or serve others at your own expense. A liking for distance in relationships, and for solitude. This occurs because as an empath, intimacy and closeness is your default. But when you don't know how to stop

yourself from exploring other peoples' auras, you need some space on your own, where you aren't around other people. Feeling an affinity with the animal kingdom. When you're an animal empath, you can get a feel for how other species experience life and you are able to relate to animals on a

deep level. Some people are plant empaths, so the same is possible for plants. Feeling responsible for how other people feel, and going out of your way to help them to feel better (even when it doesn't serve you.) After all, you feel their emotions so keenly.

A tendency to let relationships and friendships get too heavy (and too close) – too fast. A strange tendency to feel aches and pains, but only around certain people. Finding yourself often in a counselling role, where people dump their emotions on you, and being very drained by it.

An emotional over-identification with characters in novels, films and plays. It doesn't matter that they're not real as you can still feel how they felt.

A tendency to forget to have fun and lighten up.

Empaths are usually deeply spiritual people, simply because the gift of empathy allows you to experience oneness. This in turn gives you an expanded perspective on other people and on life. If you related to many of the above signs, then did you know you can control whose emotions you feel and explore? Instead of automatically exploring the aura of most of the people you meet, you can turn your empathy on only when you need it. That makes life a lot lighter. The first picture below is what the energy field and energetic boundaries of a person with their empathy turned off looks like. The second picture is what it looks like when your empathy is activated.

Psychic Development Course Page 50

Off On

With overactive empathy activated, you become a porous being. Imagine yourself as a bowl in the first picture and once your empathy has been triggered, you become a human sieve - you have openings in your energy body where your energy goes out to others (so you can put yourself in the shoes of another person.) And that energy goes into you, so you soak up what's going on around you - from other people, places and occurrences. When you are a skilled empath (when you can turn empathy on and off at will), it is a wonderful thing, and truly a gift because empathy allows us to see things clearly from the perspective of other people, making for good relationships. Empathy arouses compassion in us. It allows us to connect with and care about others. If we can feel and relate to what other people are going through, then we are more motivated to offer our help. Thus, empaths tend to be giving, caring people. If you're someone who doesn't yet know how to turn your empathy off, your empathy will be triggered by something and you will usually forget to turn it off, you may not even be aware that it's "on". Maybe you're walking around with your empathy on all the time. That's when it affects your quality of life. The disadvantages of having empathy when you don't know how to turn it off: This is a broad spectrum – it ranges from being a nuisance to actually being quite debilitating, such as when you take on other people's physical and emotional pain and you're crippled temporarily by it while you process it and try to work out what the heck is going on. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Overactive empathy in relationships - have you ever had a relationship where you feel what someone is going through so much, when it's something they're struggling with, and you really want to help them? That's all good and well, but what if you want to help them so much, you start taking on their "stuff" and their problems? What if your boundaries become blurry and you take on responsibilities that aren't yours? What if you stop allowing them the responsibility and the opportunity to create change and want to create it for them, directly or indirectly? Overactive empathy is linked to co-dependence and poor boundaries in general and many healers have a hard time with this because they're so often empathic.

Psychic Development Course Page 51

Overactive empathy in the social setting: When your empathy is triggered in a social setting, you are so focused on the people around you. You may be subtly reading them intuitively, you're listening and noticing intently. It's like you're diving into their energy. If everyone else in the room is in colour, you're in shades of grey because you're not centred in yourself; you're lost in everyone else's energy. If your empathy is turned on in a social situation, it means you enjoy the experience less because it can be rather draining, sometimes overwhelming and a bit of a strain. Overactive emotional empathy - have you ever been completely floored by someone else's emotional pain? Overactive empathy in certain places - this is when you enter buildings and walk past certain places and take on the energetic frequencies within that place. Physical empathy - do you feel the aches and pains of other people? Physical empaths can get horrible headaches, and they may feel like hypochondriacs. What is often happening is that they are like sponges and taking on the physical pain of others. These are just some of the more common types of empathy. There are many more types, including intellectual empathy, empathy with animals and plants. If you identified with any of the above, to a greater or lesser degree, then you will want to read on and learn how to overcome overactive empathy.

Three steps to overcoming overactive empathy

1. Centre yourself – as an energy management tool, learn to turn off your empathy in the moment and train yourself to be more centred in general.

2. Raise your awareness of empathy triggers – understanding your external empathy triggers, i.e. understand which situations and people trigger your empathy in any

given moment. 3. Move from unconscious empathy to conscious choice – understanding why you may not be turning your empathy off; overcoming limiting beliefs and unconscious choices around empathy and setting new intentions for the management of your energy. As you can see from these steps, managing overactive empathy is probably not something you are going to do overnight. Ultimately, how far you will want to go with this will depend on how much your empathy adversely affects your life. If overactive empathy is a minor problem for you, you won't be as motivated to follow the three stages above. On the other hand, if overactive empathy has been something that has affected you for a long time more severely, then you'll probably want to consider all of the three stages above. Let's look at the three steps in more depth:

Psychic Development Course Page 52

Step one: Centering yourself on a regular basis

This is the most important part of the turning off overactive empathy process. You can read everything else in this section, but if you don't actually practice centering, you won't get any more control than you currently have over your own empathy. When your empathy is activated, there are openings in your energy field which allow your energy to leave you; and the energy around you also enters your energy field via these "openings". Centering is when you close those energetic "openings" and bring your energy back to you. It is essentially using focus and mindfulness to become present. This is a state where you are profoundly aware of yourself and your own feelings; where the inner state is louder and speaks to you more clearly than what is going on around you. In this state of being centered, it is more difficult to become distracted and get swept along energetically by the emotions of the people around you. How can you centre yourself? The principle behind any energy management exercise is the same – your intention. You centre yourself through the power of your intention. Let's think about this for a moment. Did you know that you can open and close your chakras by visualizing them? Your energy field responds to your intentions and thoughts. You command it, and your energy responds. Most of us are doing this unconsciously. You think a negative thought that depletes your energy, and your energy field contracts. If you tell a lie, your energy contracts. On the other hand, if you say something that is empowering or comforting, your energy will relax and expand. Your energy is responding to everything you do, think and say. That is something you may know theoretically, but the experience of it in reality will probably feel quite different. Controlling your energy is much easier said than done. If we were such experts in controlling where our energy goes, we would probably never think anything negative at all. This is where centering techniques come in handy for empaths – regular centering trains you to get control of your own thoughts and energy on an ongoing basis. In particular, it reminds you what centeredness feels like and then you tap into and remember that centeredness when you suddenly notice yourself getting swept along by what's going on around you. And you can bring centeredness into that moment of out of control empathy and turn it into a moment of empathy under control. The components of a good centering meditation, that you should do on an ongoing basis, are:

1. Quietening your mind initially through observing your breath for 1 - 2 minutes. 2. Grounding yourself (you can do this by visualizing the energy of your root chakra shooting through the Earth, wrapping itself around the Earth's core and returning to

you the same way). 3. Then call your energy back to you. This is a kind of energy retrieval. Thought energy can be woven into people, loved ones, fears, and past events. Wait for a few moments for all that thought energy to come back to you.

Psychic Development Course Page 53

4. Actively close any "openings" in your energy field (you can do this by visualizing a white light burning at the heart chakra, which reaches out (see lots of hands doing

this!) and closes the openings, at this point you may hear the doors closing. 5. Next, just experience your energy contained within you. Try and experience some moments of being present, self-aware and silent within. You may remain like that for

as long as you can, or as long as you want. 6. Affirm to yourself that you can recreate this state as you need it just by allowing the light at the heart chakra to reach out and close those "openings" if you notice that your energy field has opened itself up – in social interactions, in public places (for example, if you're walking down the street in a big city and am overwhelmed by the energies that you can pick up on.) The more you practise a centering exercise like the one outlined above, the more control you get over where your energy goes in your life – including empathy. If you want, before you centre yourself, you can release old energy. Empaths have energy fields that are full of other peoples' "stuff". You can go through the following steps to remove it:

Close your eyes. Call on your guides or Archangel Michael, then say out loud "I now call on the power of Source/God to remove from my energy field all energies that do not belong to me. It is done, it is done, it is done". Remember to thank whoever it is that helped you. If you are going to practice being centered in the moment that empathy occurs, so that you can get it under control, you need a high level of awareness of your empathy triggers, which brings us to the second key to controlling empathy.

Step Two: Raising Awareness Most empaths have little awareness of the empathy process, and that can be one of the biggest reasons why some empaths never learn to turn empathy off. Let's just recap on what happens when you're "picking up on" other people's energies empathically. 1. Your empathy gets triggered by something. 2. Your energy field opens up and you get a glimpse into someone else's experience, for the better, as this helps you to relate to the person. 3. Your energy field should close its boundaries so that you can come back into yourself, but it doesn't – it remains open and often you don't even know it (that is what happens for unskilled empaths.) So, here's what you need to do to turn empathy off if you are an unskilled empath – you must become aware of what is happening as it is happening. This means a high level of awareness. Firstly, you need to become aware of your empathy triggers.

Psychic Development Course Page 54

Mine are: people in pain or distress, violence on the television, people disagreeing with me (so I can put myself in their shoes), people needing me for something – what are your empathy triggers? Are you triggered mostly by loved ones or by anyone? Then, you need to observe the empathy process. Next time, notice how much you're focusing on the other person in any given situation – whether it is emotional counselling and listening to someone's problems; interacting with someone in a social setting; walking down the street and just observing those around you or whatever. For you as an empath it will be second nature to you to focus a great deal on others, so you might not have ever noticed how much you do this. When you notice that you're over-identifying with another person and their energy, it is best to bring your energy back to you. You can do this very simply by pinching yourself, noticing how YOU feel in that moment, or by noticing something that you like (i.e. I like that colour" or "I like how comfy this chair is"). Making these steps a habit can really help you in the moment to bring your empathy under control. You can also consciously will your energy to return to you, and your boundaries to close in the moment. Take a moment to feel how you feel and become aware of your inner being. If you can do it in that moment, visualize the "openings" in your energy field closing. If it helps, hear the doors closing and the hinges creaking. Otherwise, just affirm that it is happening in the moment.

Step Three: Moving from unconscious empathy to conscious choice If you practice centering yourself and turning off empathy as you notice it happening, but it doesn't work very well, then you need to look at what is stopping you from fully getting control of your own energy. Sometimes, you're not fully turning off empathy because there is a part of you that doesn't want to, as you can feel you will help everyone better if it is turned on. Some ideas and perspectives to counter the fears relating to overactive empathy:

Overactive empathy is an act of self-sacrifice. Is it fun to absorb a load of negative energy that isn't yours? No! What is negative and what does not serve you cannot

serve someone else. It is called spreading the fear instead of the love. Empathy was never designed to be used in a prolonged "always-switched-on" way.

Yes, empathy is great for getting a glimpse into someone else's world, but it is terrible if we have to remain in that painful world with them! Why? Because then we become useless, to ourselves and to others! How can you possibly uplift someone if you're in

exactly the same negative state that they are? You can't. That's why overactive empathy doesn't serve you. You need to be able to snap out of whatever state you're absorbing in order to bring the good energies that you so naturally bring into the

world. You live by example, through those energies that you bring. That's how you heal and uplift others. Overactive empathy is also linked to co-dependence. If you are feeling someone else's pain, you may also try to take on their responsibilities because it becomes your pain. You may try to force them out of it and become very attached to a situation or

Psychic Development Course Page 55

emotional state that isn't yours – because you want it to be over. Those situations can be quite messy because boundaries become blurred, especially when there are two empaths involved, both trying to take responsibility for one another. Overactive empathy can lead to people-pleasing, self-sacrifice and self-neglect. It can also lead to co-dependence because when you can feel other people's emotions to such a degree, they become yours and you want to help more than is appropriate.

Some tips 1. Pay Attention to How YOU Feel To overcome empathy, you need to tune back in to YOU. In order to get centred, you need to check in with yourself emotionally at least once a day and tune in to how you feel. Make a log before you go to bed of how you feel and why. When people ask you to do something, before you say yes, check in with how you feel about it. Don't just feel their need and then respond to that. Take time to become centered and for your feelings to come through. Sometimes your own feelings about things take time to come through when you're too tuned in to everyone else's. Meditation can also be a good centering tool if you do it regularly and imagine recalling your energy back from other people and feeling complete again. When I feel like my energy is "out there" and ungrounded (especially after I've been working on the computer and internet all day) I often do a visualization where I see my energy coming back to me from the internet sites I've visited, the people I've talked to, the spirits I've spoken to and the clients I've worked with. A visualization like that just sets the intention to bring your energy back to you and can be very helpful. When you feel overwhelmed with emotion, or like you lost yourself in interactions with other people, try taking three deep, long breaths, then saying this little "prayer": "I now call on the power of Source and the Archangels to remove from my energy field all energies that do not belong to me. It is done, it is done, it is done". You can make your own little "prayer" or memorize the one above. It doesn't need to be complicated or long. As you can see, the prayer above is short and simple. Calling on source or the angels is very powerful for clearing out energies, and it works. 2. Give yourself permission to enjoy yourself

Most empaths are not having fun in their interactions with other people. They often have the attitude that they are here to help others who are suffering. They often feel dutiful and responsible for other people's feelings and feel they are there to help others to feel better. To remedy this, focus on having fun in your interactions with others. In social situations, if you're not having fun, then don't engage so much with the person you're talking to. When you're talking to someone who is draining your energy, intend to pull back. Put your enjoyment first in social situations and pay less attention to other people than you would normally. This may sound incredibly selfish but the fact is that many empaths need this change in approach.

I have not included any exercises to develop empathy as I am of the opinion that it is not a skill that can be developed and is a gift given to you during your lifetime.

Mediumship and Channelling

Channelling is the means by which you can make a direct connection with a non-physical or discarnate being, such as a guide. It is a process of consciously connecting with entities who exist on other planes of reality, and those who do so are known as channels. Throughout the history of humanity, people have channelled various types of entities. Mediums, on the other hand, work with dead people - entities that have been in existence as human beings and have now passed on. The focus for mediums is to communicate with our dead loved ones, to pass on messages to help those of us left behind, and sometimes even to assist those who have passed on. Channelling involves deliberately shifting your awareness to achieve an expanded state of consciousness. You have to learn to concentrate and to get your own thoughts out of the way so that you can become receptive to your higher guidance. Channeling is a skill that you can learn. Channeling involves achieving an expanded state of consciousness that allows you to connect with a high-level guide or your higher or innermost self. To channel, you do not have to be spiritually evolved or have been psychic all your life; you do need patience, perseverance, and a strong desire to make the connection. Some psychics have both abilities and use them equally while others routinely use one or the other. It is important to understand that not all psychics have the ability to be a medium or a channel, but all who possess those skills are psychics. There are 3 different types of channelling:

Trance Channelling: A form of mediumship where an individual will relinquish conscious control of his/her body and give it over to an "outside entity" for use as an

instrument of communication. During these sessions, the channel has no knowledge or recollection of what is happening. He or she simply "goes away" and then becomes awakened when their body is fatigued or when the session is over.

Conscious Channelling: A form of mediumship where the channel maintains conscious presence but agrees to allow expression of truths or images originating

from another entity to come through his/her physical body. At any time, the channel is free to edit the material being presented, or to refuse expression when he or she is not comfortable with the information that is being offered.

Automatic Writing, Painting, or Musicianship: A form of mediumship where the channel (either in trance or consciously) allows their body to use any one of a number of artistic venues to express the ideas or emotions of an entity that exists outside of their immediate life context.

Automatic Writing

Automatic writing is the writing of material that does not come from the conscious mind of

Psychic Development Course Page 57

the writer. The writer is only a tool that forms the message. The writer's hand forms the message, and the person is unaware of what will be written. It is sometimes done in a trance state. Other times the writer is aware (not in a trance) of their surroundings, but not the actions of their writing hand. We attempt automatic writing for several reasons. One is to get information about our or another person’s personal life (in the case of doing a reading for another person). Another reason may be to confirm something from someone who exists on the other side or has deceased. Or we may just be curious if our guides or angels have a message for us that we have failed to hear by other means. The answers can be surprising, however, always be cautious as with any tool of chosen - such as the board. If you have emotional problems, you may not like the messages that come through. Your consciousness being in lower frequency due to emotional problems will attract a lower frequency entity. If you like drama, or consider your life to be a drama, then don't channel. When attempting automatic writing you may use a writing implement, computer, or any other means of communicating through the written word. Many people prefer the computer as they can type quickly without filtering the information coming through. When re-read, even a typo can mean something. To divert the focus of the writer - shifting from left brain logical thinking - to right brain intuitive thinking - take a pencil in hand, place it against a piece of paper as if about to write something, then turn your attention to something else, such as watching television, reading a book, or talking with someone. For many people, their hand will write coherent material. The amount of time spent on automatic writing can vary with the person and the session. Words, sentences or whole paragraphs may appear. Often, the writing is illegible - the text appearing jumbled - without proper grammar or punctuation - mostly run-on sentences. Messages can be written in a language, or hand writing style, not recognized by the writer and signed by someone unknown. A picture or symbol may be written. Some automatic writers know who is giving the messages, while others do not. If the energies feel comfortable to you then you will soon learn who the entity is and why they are writing with you. Let all information flow! Do not stop to think about - or process - what you are writing / typing. If you feel that more than one entity is trying to write through you - ask them to take their time and you will write with them one at a time. Always get a name. Some of the best works of literature have come through channelled writing. If, however, you feel the least bit uncomfortable with the entity or the information received, then STOP!

Psychic Development Course Page 58

Getting Started

Get into a comfortable position at your computer. Be sure you are free of distractions.

If you are not alone, tell others that you have some personal correspondence to take care of. If you are tired, this could actually work better for you. Now clear your mind of chatter. Feel the muscles in your body, neck, arms, shoulders, and especially your face, totally relax You are going to use your computer to talk to your guide. Know that whatever the answer is to your questions will be written by the spirit. Do not allow time for your mind to listen to this information. Just type. You may even want to focus your eyes on something near the computer which keeps the left brain busy while the right brain does the channelling. It may seem like your own thoughts at first, but that is OK. It will get easier and quicker especially if you are on a computer. This takes practice.

You are ready to begin Gently place your finger on the keyboard. You are relaxed and not concerned about what you will type. Type today's date at the top of your page.

Mentally call one of your guides and tell them you want to communicate with the computer. Tell them you can only work with one guide at a time. You may select the guide - or perhaps it is their choice. Not all guides use automatic writing to communicate. On the first day, get to know who your guide is. Type, "Hello. What is your name?"

Follow with questions about the spirit guide and his relationship with you. I would suggest you start with simple questions that can be answered with a 'yes or no' answer. Don't stop to think. Just allow your fingers to type the answer.

This is a time to get to know your guide and why they are working with you at this time. After a few minutes you will find yourself typing more quickly. There may be mistakes in punctuation, no space between words, poor grammar, unknown words, or whatever. This is not important! You can fix the typos later. Just keep typing questions and answers. Do not write too much on the first day. Just start slowly and feel comfortable. You can begin again whenever you like. There are no schedule requirements. Each experience will make you more comfortable.

Psychic Development Course Page 59

On the second day, you can ask questions that are beyond yes or no answers and get more details. I would suggest you not ask about your love life until you are comfortable with the spirit and this form of mediumship. This is much easier when the questions are not about you. On the second day, ask spirit (you should now have a name) about your spiritual work, relationship with the guide and other spiritual questions. On the third day, ask about global matters - earth changes, changes in the Millennium and others. On the fourth day - begin personal questions but remember you can only ask a question once. Asking a question over and over again until you type your desired answer - is wrong. For example, "does ______love me?" If the answer is no, then so be it! Try change the question to - "Will I find a true love? Marry? etc." This equates to finding a psychic reader who will tell you what you want to hear not what is the truth. The more you use automatic writing, the easier and faster it gets. Remember to save your notes! There is a poet in each of us. The emotional body expresses itself through the art of poetry. Sometimes we write as we feel, thus allowing our pain to come through and be released. This helps them see that their questions and intentions must be aligned with a higher vision in order for it to bring the questions and understandings they are looking for. So in a sense we might just as easily say that intentions are gatekeepers to higher consciousness as well.

Building a Belief in Yourself as a Spiritual Channel Everyone has the ability to channel, though a person's beliefs determine whether they develop this ability. In the beginning, it may be necessary for you to build a belief in yourself as a channel. Building a belief in your ability to channel and adopting the identity of a spiritual channel are two important components of opening your psychic senses. Each person has the ability to channel whatever is needed. If one fails to receive the answers and guidance they are asking for, it is usually because they don't believe they can receive it. If a person doesn't believe they can receive guidance, they don't identify themselves as an intuitive or channel. Let's look at ways to break through both of these barriers. In building a belief, you will want to become competent in your ability to ask for and receive guidance and information downloads. One of the best ways to begin building a belief is to ask for answers to be downloaded into your consciousness during dream states. It will probably take some practice, but over time if you persist, this technique will bring the results you're looking for. There are times when the answer is downloaded during dream states so that upon waking, the answer is ready and waiting. Other times, the answer may not filter in from your subconscious for a period of time - until your consciousness and your

Psychic Development Course Page 60

energy allows it to filter in. Each time you use this technique and see it working for you, you build a belief in your ability to ask for and receive guidance.

Adopting the Identity of a Spiritual Channel By the time the idea has arrived for you to become a spiritual channel, this possibility is a seed already planted in your consciousness by your higher self. All this seed needs to grow and become a part of your physical reality is your intention for this to happen and your willingness to do what it takes to energize this reality into your physical world. The first step to manifest this reality is to adopt the identity of a spiritual channel. When you set the intention to shift your identity to embrace the vision of yourself as a channel, you will be presented with several tests. These tests are rites of passage to bring a new version of yourself into the world. This initially comes in the form of people and circumstances that reflect your own uncertainties and doubts. Even if you don't speak about your decision to become a spiritual channel, you will telepathically broadcast your decision to the universe. It is through this broadcast that you draw to you circumstances that help you examine and confront your own doubts and concerns. For example, if you have concerns that this path will lead you to seemingly lose control of your life, you will manifest circumstances in your life that allow you to examine your concerns about losing control. It is your present identity self that will hold the greatest concern about this decision, as it will soon be abdicating its position in the driver's seat to the new identity self. An existing identity self only holds the power you give it. If you are over-identified with your present identity (with your physical reality, in other words), you will likely be challenged in this area. The best way to work through such challenges is to see that "you" in the infinite sense are not your identity selves though each identity you hold and any aspect of your consciousness that represents that identity is intricately a part of who you are. Thank your current identity self for all it has done for you. Ask it to work with the new identity self you are developing to help you explore your identity as a channel. In this way, you are able to complete with your present reality before shifting to a new one.XXX As you examine any fears and concerns you have around channelling, you will be more at peace with this new part of yourself. You're not turning your consciousness over to other entities, rather, you are allowing a wise and expanded part of your own consciousness to speak to you and offer guidance and answers. Once you make peace with past and current focus selves, you will begin receiving visions and guidance on how to align further with your new identity as a spiritual channel. You may be guided to eat a more alkaline diet, to meditate, to spend time in nature, and develop your awareness and sensitivity. You may find you are drawn to spend more time alone, or that you are no longer drawn to people and places of the past. You may be guided to undertake certain courses of study and to expand your understandings. Your new identity will bring many changes into your life. There may be those you have known who feel threatened by this change or those who

Psychic Development Course Page 61

respond from a place of misunderstanding. You don't have to explain yourself or your choices to others. Once you become clear in your own mind as to what you're doing and why, you are able to proceed onward and the objections of those around you will melt away. The best example is always that of your own life working. Send love to others and release any need you may feel for others to understand or support you. To gain clarity within yourself, ask yourself why you wish to become a spiritual channel and what your motivations are. Many want to understand deeper aspects of their own consciousness and beyond this, the universe. They want to know how to heal themselves, what they can do to serve the world, to help others heal and create inner peace. It is not to manipulate or hold answers others don't have, but to assist others to better fulfil their purpose and light the way for others. As we become fluent in channelling, it casts a golden light around every moment of every day. Our existence takes on a mystical quality layered with subtle and ever deepening meanings that continuously lead us to greater joy, awareness and understanding.

Doing Readings for Yourself and Others You can channel for a person who is not physically present. Doing readings for friends is a good way to gain experience in channelling. Doing readings for others will also give you many insights into your own life. It will also expand your compassion and understanding of yourself and others. Doing a reading for a friend is a good way to begin, because you are less emotionally invested in the outcome of the reading. The most important aspects of learning to clear your channel are to calm your emotions and have no attachment to the outcome or advice you're giving. To prepare for channelling for a friend, allow yourself to become fully absorbed into the present moment. Allow your consciousness to merge with the frequencies inside this moment. Become very alert and aware and intend to perceive the energies of your friend inside this moment. This is a state of alert awareness and experiencing. You might compare this to times when you were totally absorbed in a movie or in creating a work of art. This is about crossing a threshold into the space where you are totally merged with the energy of the person you're focusing on. From this space of merging with their energy, you will be able to go more deeply into your own subconscious and from there, you are able to connect with the subconscious of your friend. Inside your subconscious mind, you are able to enter a different space where you are able to see everything at a finer level. As you sit quietly, begin to breathe in and become more and more relaxed. As you breathe, you become aware of the distinction between yourself at the personality level and yourself at the level of your guides and higher self. You'll know you have shifted to the perspective of your higher self when you feel that you are finding new insights and perspectives to the questions you hold. Likely you will have the sense that the information you bring through is obvious. One of the greatest things you can give others is simple, clear, obvious information. It will often seem that you are only validating others' perceptions. In other words, you may not be telling them something they don't already

Psychic Development Course Page 62

know at some level of their being. Your perceptions will provide feedback to the person that their perceptions are on track. In doing a reading for a friend, you are not trying to bring out astonishing new information and insights. Usually what you bring through will be very obvious in your trance state. It will seem at times almost too obvious, but what is obvious to you in your trance state or as you look at a person or situation through the eyes of your higher self may not be as obvious to the person you're doing the reading for. Keep in mind that the trance state you channel from and your everyday perspective will not necessarily be the same. Even when your trance insights validate your conscious perceptions, you will likely channel subtle points and new angles to the information. You may want to record your reading into a tape recorder or you may just decide to make notes after the reading is over. Some prefer to simply remember later what was said during the reading. There is never any right or wrong way, so long as you come from a place of love and compassion. Back to the exercise - enter a trance posture by taking deep breaths and sitting with your spine straight. Feel your shoulders rise and drop. Open the area in the back of your head and neck. Lift your chest ever so softly. Imagine you are now surrounded by a sphere of light. Inside this sphere of light, only the highest and best can enter into this space. See yourself compassionate and wise. Hold the person you're doing the reading for in your awareness. As you hold this person in awareness, imagine you're walking across a bridge of light to your subconscious mind and higher self. Once you cross this bridge, you will be able to merge with your guides and higher self. As you merge, your higher self stimulates parts of your brain to send thought impulses. Your inner translator will take these thought impulses and translate them with accuracy and clarity, putting words to match the impulses. Now, look at your friend through the eyes of your higher self. In order to see into this person's heart more clearly, ask your higher self to stimulate your own heart. You may examine this person's life in terms of creating abundance. You may look at their actions, thoughts, feelings and beliefs around prosperity. Take whatever comes first, begin to speak it and more will follow. You may look at the higher purpose of a relationship your friend is in. You may see the purpose of the relationship, and what it is helping them learn. You may see what your friend can do to transform this relationship. Once again, what comes through may seem obvious to you from this space, but it may not seem as obvious to your friend. Part of what your higher self will show you during this reading is the way your friend has been working to do the best they can to bring to understanding to their life and to be loving. Your higher self will give acknowledgment and recognition to this person and help you see all the good things about them. By including this information in the reading, you help your friend see good things about themselves they may have overlooked.

Doing a Reading for Yourself To do a reading for yourself, take several deep breaths. Sit with your spine erect,

Psychic Development Course Page 63

shoulders relaxed. See light coming into your physical system at the cellular level. See a bridge of light appearing before you. See yourself moving over this bridge of light and uniting with your higher self. Open your thought centres to connect with the wisdom of your higher self. Connect this wisdom with your thoughts and your voice. Begin to verbally channel or receive ideas into your mind. What is important in doing readings for yourself is that you make the commitment to make your life work and to act on the guidance you receive. Following the guidance, you receive is gratitude in action. As you merge with your higher self, you may feel a sense of heightened awareness. You may experience a subtle shift in which you see yourself as wise, knowing and compassionate. As your heart opens, you feel calm; your breath becomes deeper; your body relaxes and your mind becomes very clear.

Channelling and Intuitive Health Readings Channelling an intuitive health reading must be approached in a responsible and compassionate way. A health reading must always be approached with humility and caution. It is important to emphasize to the person you are reading for that you are reading their energy to find how their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, emotions and attitudes may be impacting (or could impact in the future) on their physical system. You are not diagnosing medical conditions, only energetic patterns and tendencies. After receiving an intuitive health reading, the person you read for has the option to consult a health practitioner of their choice, have medical tests done, change dietary habits or begin new health regimens. They may choose to take no action at all, but to hold the information in awareness to see how patterns unfold over time. Like all intuitive readings, it is good in the beginning to practice with friends who will likely take your perceptions with a grain of salt, given your novice status. However, it is not uncommon in early health readings for an intuitive to accurately perceive patterns taking form in a person's energy field. When you do a health reading, you will use a series of intuitive steps. The first step is to focus your attention into your own subconscious mind and then upon the person for whom you are doing a reading. Once you are connected with their subconscious mind, focus on the mental, emotional, physical or spiritual realm of that person. The second step is to practice discernment. Many disorders may try to get your attention when you begin reading a person's energy. You must choose which one you will give your attention to and thoroughly examine it in order to accurately perceive the information. The third step is interpretation. Communication from your subconscious mind comes in many forms. You must interpret what this aspect of your consciousness is attempting to tell you. The next step is understanding. At this point, a disorder has been communicated and must be accompanied by insight and advice to create a full understanding. Practical use of the

Psychic Development Course Page 64

information needs to be given in order for the information to be used. You hold a great deal of responsibility toward a person when you do a reading for them. Concern for the person's well-being will direct the intuitive ability to access a deeper level of information. Your presentation along with observing the diplomacy of your choice of words and actions toward the client is important to gain trust and rapport. The relationship with the person has opportunity for mutual respect at that point. When you're in harmony with the person you're reading, your evaluations will be more accurate and helpful. Each individual has a level of conscious awareness they are capable of reaching. We continue to grow into higher levels of awareness as we grow and learn.

Doing an Intuitive Health Reading To do a health reading, centre yourself and speak your intentions such as "I desire to connect with the energies of this person and give the highest level of truth as relating to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual parts." To reach the very highest levels of information and raise your level to the point of truth, imagine a white light from your solar plexus area going down into the feet of your body and up into the chest, head, and down the arms. Imagine a shaft of white light going up from the top of your head. See yourself only receiving information through the shaft of light. Ask that only the highest levels of good intention and truth are able to communicate with you in this reading. Ask that you be within this white light during the entire evaluation and that this be a protective and secured experience as overseen by the highest levels of good intentions from the inner levels of higher awareness. Know you are in harmony and cooperation with the subconscious of the person you are reading and are able to perceive them at the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Examine the root chakra area first. Examine each part of the body in the root chakra area. When you have completed the root chakra area, move onto the next chakra and continue. When you have completed the evaluation, it is important to disconnect from the person's energy. Pull your energy all the way to your feet, grounding yourself back into your body. Imagine a colour – any colour. See this colour and imagine you are giving yourself a colour bath or imagine this colour filling up every part of your body from your head to your toes. Imagine this colour cleansing and disconnecting you from any energies other than your own. Direct this colour of light to release all thoughts and emotions that are not your own. When you feel this is accomplished, bring yourself to a full, waking conscious state. Practice this until you have perfected the cleansing process. You don't want any residue of the energy of others to remain with you. The skill of channelling can be used to access any energy you want to expand or enhance in your environment. It can be used to access the probable reality where the energies we seek exist in greater intensity. This allows us to create an energetic field where these frequencies exist and expand and bring focus to them. With channelling, we cultivate a tool for accessing what is already there through intention and focused expansion into an

Psychic Development Course Page 65

energetic field. In essence, we are simultaneously drawing into our experience and merging with the energy we choose to energize and enhance in our environment. As we expand into this energetic field, we undergo clearings that allow us to release energies that are not in resonance with the new realities we're expanding into. This energetic field continuously draws into it whatever it needs to expand and grow. For example, expansion and growth in a quality such as love draws lessons that help us develop a greater understanding of love. Depending on our level of soul development, these lessons may or may not be intense or dramatic. By choosing to see everything that happens in our life as an opportunity for spiritual growth, we can move through such "clearings" with a sense of joy and gratitude. Through our own continued growth and expansion, we hold a space for others who are seeking to grow in their understandings and evolve past old programming and beliefs. Developing our channelling skill allows us to further serve the planet through an expanded awareness that amplifies the energies of higher dimensions, making them more accessible for all who open to experience them.XXX

Telepathy

Is telepathy a natural phenomenon? Is everyone telepathic? What can a person do to increase telepathic ability? How can telepathy help you in your everyday life? In this section, you will learn how to become conscious of telepathic experiences and how you can develop your telepathic ability for practical use in everyday life. Telepathy is as common as speech, whether we realize it or not. It is our lack of understanding and awareness of telepathy that makes it seem like an uncommon experience. Telepathy may be defined as the transfer of physical, emotional or mental energy, or a combination of these, from one living being to another without physical contact. Telepathy may be differentiated into three types: physical, emotional and mental telepathy. True mental telepathy is the rarest form and physical telepathy is the most common. Although for the sake of discussion, I have differentiated telepathy into these three distinct types, there is really an overlap or blending of these. Usually, amongst the higher animals, one or more of these types will occur simultaneously during any transference of "telepathic" energy. All of us are telepathic. Each of us has this ability developed to a greater or lesser degree. Some are more conscious of this ability than others. All of us have telepathic experiences nearly every day, usually without even realizing it. Have you ever had the occasion to say "I was just thinking that" when someone was speaking? Or, has anyone ever said to you "You must be psychic. I was just thinking that"? Have you ever had the foreboding feeling that something was wrong, to discover later that someone in your family or a dear friend was in need of help? Have you ever been close to someone who was very nervous and found that you also become nervous? These types of experiences are usually telepathic in nature. For most of us, these experiences occur with someone who is close to us like a good friend, mate, lover, brother or sister, and especially one's child. Let's analyse what this marvel is. The most common form of telepathy, physical telepathy, can be observed in nature where flocks of birds or schools of fish all act in unison. Although these animals respond to external stimuli in like fashion, they also act under a common "will." Each individual within the group acts in harmony with the others. A guard dog who senses that an intruder is up to no good also exhibits a form of telepathy. We account for this by saying that the dog "smells" fear. This may or may not have a basis in truth. Consider the possibility that the sense of smell is in some way related to this form of telepathy. After all, smell is the most sensitive of our physical senses, and as we shall see, breathing is strongly linked to conscious telepathic ability. These examples are a manifestation of "physical telepathy." All forms of telepathy can be explained by analogy. Each living creature is like a living radio broadcast and receiving station. In cases of physical telepathy, when these living creatures are "tuned to the same channel," they behave in like fashion. This also holds true for emotional telepathy, but in

Psychic Development Course Page 67

this instance, groups adhere and react to a common feeling. With mental telepathy, individuals within groups attach and react to thoughts which are common. Just as we live in a sea of physical substance, simultaneously we also live in a sea of emotional and mental substance. When we pick up vibrations or disturbances in the physical medium through our five normal senses, we respond or react physically to these disturbances. Similarly, when a disturbance of an emotional or mental nature occurs, we react emotionally or mentally. Many experiments have been conducted at universities and private institutions throughout the world on human telepathic abilities. Many of these experiments were marginally successful, except amongst those few individuals who showed some exceptional natural ability for receiving another person's thoughts. These experiments were typically conducted by placing the "receiver" in one room and the "transmitter" in another room. The transmitter looked at a picture of one of five geometric symbols (circle, square, triangle, rectangle and star) while the receiver wrote down their impressions of what was being transmitted. When five geometric figures are used, there is a one out of five chance that the receiver will get the answer correct, even by guessing. If the receiver gets a significantly higher percentage correct, this is an indication that the receiver has an above normal telepathic ability, or possibly that the sender is an extremely strong transmitter. Later, you will learn how this type of experiment can be enhanced to produce above normal results for most people. Our use of telepathy begins soon after we are born, and it is our parents who begin teaching us how to use this natural ability. If we could remember our infancy, we would likely recall our parents looking over us in our cot, talking to us and smiling, trying to get a smile or some similar response. Parents of young children unconsciously achieve the initial telepathic contact with the child by mimicking the child's noises (ga-ga, goo-goo, etc.) to elicit a physical response from the child. This interaction gets the child's attention, and the child's attention is on observing the thoughts and feelings being projected by the parents. It is during this early telepathic interaction that we first utilize our telepathic ability to receive thoughts and feelings. Most of the words that our parents said were meaningless at first. As we became more adjusted to observing the sights and sounds around us, we also became more aware of the pictures and feelings that flowed through our inner vision when our parents spoke. As our awareness of the world about us improved, we then began to relate the words our parents were saying to the pictures and feelings we perceived in our minds eye. Many of these pictures and feelings were telepathic projections from our parents. As children, we learned very quickly from our parents because the understanding was received telepathically. The reciprocal flow of thoughts and feelings occurred when we wanted something, like to be fed, changed, or simply held. During infancy, we could not speak what we wanted, but rather expressed our desires without restraint in the form of vocal sounds, sometimes leading to uncontrollable physical reactions that our parents were compelled to respond to (crying, for example). Without being conscious of any telepathic communications, our

Psychic Development Course Page 68

parents felt our distress and usually reacted quite readily to our expressions of emotion or desire. Our parents could feel our feelings by way of telepathic communication. "Mother's intuition" is a term commonly applied to this type of emotional telepathy. As we began to relate the flow of pictures and feelings to the words our parents spoke, we began to develop a working knowledge of language. Words were learned easily because the understanding came before the pronunciation. We found that we could get what we wanted by simply saying a word or two, and it was quickly learned that the words would get a more favourable response from our parents than crying. When we became more dependent upon words to get what we wanted, our proficiency in using only emotion (or telepathy) began to wane. The important point here is that each of us as children understood the thought or emotion being projected by our parents before relating this to the word. The understanding was achieved by telepathy. As we grew older and became "weaned" emotionally and mentally from our parents, and as painful experiences influenced us, we built defences against mental and emotional projections from others. By the time we entered our teens, our defensive mechanisms often led to ignoring, arguing with or rejecting what others had to say. We also became more assertive as transmitters of telepathic energy and less receptive to the thoughts and feelings being projected "at" us by our parents. Simultaneously however, we also tended to open ourselves to the thoughts and emotions being "offered" to us by our peers and social environment. Our conscious ability to communicate telepathically diminished as our ability to "listen" to thoughts and feelings was blocked or filtered by our natural defences. In some respects, it is good to block or filter thoughts or feelings being projected at us. This is a natural protective mechanism. If, for some reason, we were unable to defend ourselves from the thoughts and feelings of others, we would be inundated and overwhelmed by thoughts and feelings from all directions. Needless to say, this would produce a very confusing and incapacitating state of mind. If you will reflect on a recent argument you had with someone, you will realize that when you were speaking to them, you were most likely projecting thoughts and feelings at them. People will react defensively to this type of projection and put up a wall of mental and emotional defence. This reaction is a telepathic response to what is being projected. Understand, that to effectively communicate, one should realize that it is the telepathic transfer of energy that gets the idea across. This means that to effectively communicate, you must tune in to the listener's wavelength (this will get their focussed attention), project the thought or feeling to them (not at them), then detach yourself from the action of projecting. Following this, turn on the receptive mode for a response. Thoughts are like baseballs. Throwing a ball to someone will likely get them to throw the ball back, but throwing a ball at someone will probably lead to a fight and someone getting hurt! The key then, is to project thoughts and feelings to someone, not at them. If you will reflect on your past learning experiences, you may find that the most significant things you learned were from a person, not a book. When a person is teaching, the

Psychic Development Course Page 69

understanding is conveyed by telepathy. An effective teacher, or speaker, is actually an efficient transmitter of clear thought and feeling. They understand, consciously or unconsciously, that they must capture your attention, project the thought or feeling, and then be receptive to your reactions. This three-step process is essential in all types of personal communication. Many of us are unwitting victims of emotional or mental telepathy much of the time, being swayed by the news media, television, friends, or other transmitters of emotional or mental "waves." How we are affected by these "waves" is dependent upon which emotional or mental "channel" we are attuned to. When a group of people get together for some purpose and begin transmitting the same emotions or thoughts, the effects are amplified. This results in a more powerful broadcast transmitter. Group prayer or meditation, when properly directed, is a wonderful example of the positive use of telepathic energy. On the other extreme, a group of people influenced by projections of negative thought or emotion can result in mass hysteria. Projections of news through the printed and electronic media affects millions of people simultaneously. Depending upon the affinities of the individuals hearing this news, people become polarized, taking one side or the other on a particular issue. Each individual then gives strength to the thought or emotion that they have an affinity with, and in turn, this thought is more likely to strongly influence other people. This tendency of the media to polarize people leads to much conflict and wrong thinking in the world. Unlike physical telepathy, emotional and mental telepathy is less subject to distance from the transmitter. Emotional and mental transmitters can affect receivers at great distances, even across the globe. This fact is of great value when one attempts to use telepathy in everyday life. Everyone can improve their telepathic abilities. It just takes some practice and some awareness of how to effectively transmit and receive thoughts. There are several things one can do to make themselves better receptors and transmitters for thought. Maintaining good physical health is of great benefit, but sometimes telepathy also works well in times of stress when our emotions are being amplified. When practicing telepathy on a controlled basis, some degree of mental, emotional and physical discipline is absolutely necessary. It is very important to control breathing when attempting to transmit or receive. Controlled breathing is a tool that gives power to thought by enabling one to control and direct thought and emotion. In the practice of practical telepathy, rhythmic breathing can be used to develop a "resonance" between body, mind and emotion. When the body, mind and emotions are all working in unison, the power of thought is amplified. Further, when a "resonance" is built between two people, the ability to transfer thought and emotion by telepathy is also amplified. Presented below are a few exercises that will improve telepathic ability. The first exercise is for protecting yourself from negative thoughts and emotions. This is extremely important. Once you become more sensitive to thoughts and feelings, you may want to be selective. This exercise is Building the Shield of Light.

Psychic Development Course Page 70

The second exercise is the Dissociative Process. This exercise is for modifying the mental and emotional defences that you have built up through the years that obscure your natural telepathic ability. This exercise also works well to reduce stress, and may be used in meditation for those who are so inclined. The dissociative process will enable you to become more receptive to the thoughts being projected to you from another. The third and final exercise is the Synchronized Breathing. As said before, controlled breathing gives power to thought. This exercise will enable you to tune into the person you wish to receive thoughts from and will make you a more powerful transmitter of thought. First, a few words about why you should do this before attempting the other exercises: The Shield of Light is a mental and emotional shield that you can build around yourself with mental and emotional energy. The process of building this shield may be thought of as "light pumping." The shield is qualified and given strength by the amount of thought and emotion or "feeling" you put into it. Its purpose is to protect you from undesirable influences that might otherwise affect you when performing the following exercises. It will also serve to protect you during your daily business. To become more telepathic, it is necessary for you to become more sensitive to the thoughts of others. You do not want to do this indiscriminately. Instead, you want to be selective to whose thoughts you will be receiving, and more generally, what kind of thoughts you will be receiving. You do not want to be subjected to negative thoughts or emotions that will cause you to build more defences. The exception, of course, is if you are intending to gain an accurate insight into someone's negative intentions. Then, you can act appropriately to avert an undesirable situation. Your personal Shield of Light is designed by you to allow only truthful thoughts and emotions to enter. You will gain confidence in its effectiveness through practice and in observing how it works. Controlled breathing properly gives power to thought energy. Through controlled breathing you will amplify of your Shield of Light to a level sufficient to protect you from negative thoughts and influences. It is a good idea to strengthen this field periodically throughout the day. Frequently thinking about the Shield of Light around you will increase its effectiveness. You will find that the Shield of Light will also help you make decisions more clearly and calmly because you will be protected from the influences of others. 1. When building the Shield of Light, find a quiet spot to sit and relax for about 20 minutes. Keep your feet flat on the ground and your hands in your lap, palms facing upward. Keep your spine straight and your head erect. 2. Exhale fully and completely through the nose. During the following steps, breathe regularly, deeply and slowly. Always inhale and exhale through the nose. 3. Next, inhale deeply through the nose and relax each portion of your body with successive breaths. Think about your feet while inhaling through your nose and visualize all tension flowing out from your feet into the earth as you exhale. Then, with the next breath, move your attention to the calves and imagine all tension flowing down and into the earth as you exhale again. With each breath, successively move your focus up to the thighs, hips,

Psychic Development Course Page 71

buttocks, back, stomach, chest, hands, arms, shoulders, neck, head, and finally your face, relaxing each part with a complete breath. 4. Now that you are relaxed, inhale deeply and visualize the air you are breathing as consisting of white light, like sunlight. Breathe the light into your solar plexus area for temporary storage. Then, as you exhale, imagine the white light flowing from the solar plexus upward through your spine and out from the top of your head. Visualize the light flowing like a fountain, flowing downward around you, through you, and surrounding you in a cylindrical shape, around your whole body. "Pump" the light with your breathing. Visualize the energy in the air around you supporting your effort to create the shield. Visualize and feel the energy flowing into your shield with each exhalation. Visualize that with each breath, the effect is being amplified. Repeat this visualization and breath about 20 times or more. As you perform this breathing and visualization exercise, mentally affirm to yourself that this shield will protect you from all negative thought and emotion. Only that which is truth or which will be good for you can exist within this shield. All other thoughts and emotions will be reflected back to their source as if the shield were a mirror to all unwanted thoughts and emotions. You should form this thought into an affirming statement. During each exhalation, repeat the phrase: "I am surrounded and protected by the white Shield of Light. Only truth, and that which is good for me can exist within this shield. All other thoughts and emotions will be reflected back to their source". A few final words on the creation of the Shield of Light: Qualifying the shield with the above affirmation will tend to prevent you from projecting ill feelings toward others. Instead, when you begin to project negative thoughts and feelings, they will be reflected back to you (the source), making you self-conscious of this act. You can then take immediate corrective action and find a better way to deal with the situation. With practice, the shield will take shape and positively influence your actions in everyday life. From a psychological perspective, performing the above exercise is a method of programming the subconscious mind. In programming your subconscious mind in this fashion, you are producing a mental and emotional filter which works when projecting thoughts and feelings as well as when receiving them. In a way, it works similar to self- hypnosis, and in this respect, the wording of the affirmation is very important. The subconscious mind does not reason or interpret what we say. It merely carries out the actions it is programmed to do. If you program the subconscious with improper wording, the results may not be what you expect. This process is used to get rid of, or modify, the defensive mechanisms which have been built up through the years. This exercise will also have the effect of reducing stress. Simply stated, this exercise involves sitting and watching the thoughts and feelings that flow through your minds, eye and detaching yourself from each of these thoughts or feelings. All too often we attach ourselves to thoughts and emotions, identifying with them, and take ownership of them. We tend to do this even if the thoughts or emotions are not conducive to our personal health or growth. The key to succeeding in this exercise is to claim no

Psychic Development Course Page 72

ownership to any thoughts or feelings. Take the position of the observer. If you are in pain, for example, look at the pain, feel the pain, and mentally say that you are the observer of the pain. Do not say "I am in pain," but rather say "there is the pain and I am the observer of this pain". This mental perspective will dissociate you from the pain. The pain thus becomes separated from the "I," and the "I" is free to pursue other more productive endeavours. In this instance of attempting to develop telepathic ability, it is important to separate your own thoughts and emotions from those of others. How do you distinguish if the thought being perceived is truly a thought being projected from someone else, or from your own imagining? The only way to do this is to have a clear perception of the thoughts and feelings attached to you. If your thoughts and feelings are likely to cloud a clear vision, you must release them and no longer give them energy. Hence, the objective here is to release all thoughts and feelings that are not good for us. Also, since you don't always know what is good for you and what is not, in this exercise you will release ALL thoughts and feelings. Because you have qualified the Shield of Light with a specific purpose, only the thoughts and emotions that are good for you will actually return and remain attached. Bear in mind that the changes that will occur from this exercise will take time. The thoughts and feelings which are prevalent in your conscious mind will change daily. Eventually, you will to reach into the subconscious mind and remove or recondition the obstacles and defences there. Repetition is the key to success. As you practice this exercise, you will find yourself calmer and more in control of situations that confront you. Separating yourself from negative feelings and thoughts will eventually become a habit. Controlled breathing will be used in this exercise also.

Let's get on with the exercise: 1. Perform the Shield of Light exercise above.

2. Whilst you are still relaxed and have given the Shield of Light a fresh charge, relax and observe the feelings around you. Also, observe the thoughts prevalent in your consciousness. Continue breathing rhythmically. 3. As each feeling and thought presents itself to your conscious mind, affirm that this thought or feeling is not yours. You are the one observing the thought or emotion. Even do this with good thoughts and feelings. Affirm that you are the one watching and observing the thought or feeling. Inhale slowly and deliberately. As you exhale, blow out slowly through the mouth and blow the thought or feeling away from you. Imagine the thought or feeling drifting away from you. Let it go and pay attention to the next thought or feeling. Pictures or memories may form in your minds' eye. Observe these also - recognize them as present, and then blow them away. Words are also likely to present themselves. Acknowledge the words as present and then blow them away as you exhale. Affirm that these words are not yours. Instead, you are the observer or listener of the words. 4. Perform this exercise for about 10 to 20 minutes a day. Finish the exercise by recharging the Shield of Light for three breaths.

Psychic Development Course Page 73

This is also a good exercise to do during times of stress. Always recharge the Shield of Light before doing this exercise, and recharge it for three breaths afterwards. Affirm that only positive and truthful thoughts and emotions can exist within the shield. Do not fear if you feel a kind of identity loss when performing this exercise. This is not uncommon and the effect is temporary. If fear does occur, simply open your eyes, focus on a nearby object, and mentally visualize the Shield of Light, asserting that no negative thoughts and feelings can exist within its boundaries. If the feeling of identity loss occurs without fear, simply go with the flow and continue the exercise, affirming that you are simply the observer of this feeling. In this manner you will have complete control of the situation. This is the secret to successful telepathy. When two or more people are breathing to the same rhythm, their bodies, emotions and thoughts become attuned to the same vibration or frequency. This synchronization helps accurate telepathic communication. In the university experiments discussed earlier, had the subjects been instructed to breath to the same rhythm in a synchronized fashion, the rate of successful telepathic communications would have increased dramatically. Before starting with the telepathy experiment detailed below, practice the above exercises for at least a week or two on a regular basis. The success rate will be much greater if you do this. For this experiment you will need a partner. The distance between yourself and your partner is not relevant. It will also help if you have your partner do the above exercises for a week or two as well. First, you will need to determine a comfortable breathing rate. Select a rate which is close to your natural breathing rate, but modified and controlled so that you will need to concentrate on the exact timing. In order to synchronize as perfectly as possible, you and your partner will each need a clock with a second hand that is set to the exact time. In this way, each of you can synchronize your breathing to the clock and be assured that you are in synchronization with each other. Select a breathing rate, for example, inhale for 6 seconds, hold the breath for 2 seconds and then exhale for 6 seconds and hold for 1 second. Each complete breath cycle would then take 15 seconds, or four cycles per minute. If this is too slow for you, select a breathing pattern which is shorter, yet still follows a similar pattern. Holding the breath is not imperative, but by doing this you are assured that the rhythm is unique, and it will tend to hold your concentration. This way you are not likely to tune into thoughts being broadcast by someone else. A slower rhythm will also tend to calm you, and this can be of benefit when receiving. It is suggested that you select a rhythm which begins and ends with the second hand of the clock on the twelve. That way if you get slightly out of synchronization, it will not take long to get back into the rhythm. The next required item is a pad of paper and a writing tool to record the impressions of what you have received and what you will transmit. Decide what you want to transmit ahead of time and write it down. Select something that will be easy for you to concentrate on in the beginning. A favourite song, a phrase that you can repeat, or a favourite scene are good choices to begin with, as these types of transmissions will be easy to concentrate on. You may select a variety of subjects for transmission, to see what works best for you

Psychic Development Course Page 74

and your partner. For some, a picture will be easiest to send or receive. For others, a sound might produce better results. A feeling might work better for some people. You want to eventually determine what types of transmissions and receptions work best for you and your partner. Before beginning this experiment, it is a good idea to reinforce your Shield of Light for a few breaths, perhaps for 5 minutes or so. Preferably, your partner will also have performed the Shield of Light and Dissociative Process exercises before beginning this experiment. If not, they may not receive the information as accurately as possible. Select a convenient and regular time to do this experiment. Perhaps before you go to bed in the evening or prior to eating dinner. It is best not to try this experiment on a full stomach. Select a quiet spot to sit where you will not be disturbed when performing this experiment. Each partner will take turns transmitting and receiving for two intervals. Each interval will be 5 minutes in duration. Decide ahead of time who will do the transmitting first. The other person will then be the designated receiver for that first 5-minute interval. At the end of the first 5 minutes, the person who was transmitting will switch to receptive mode for 5 minutes and the person who was receiving will transmit. This process will be repeated once for a total exercise time of 20 minutes. When receiving, be sure to write down all impressions. Later on you will sort out what impressions were nonsense and what impressions were real. When transmitting, visualize sending the thought, sound, sight, etc. along a tube of light (like a white laser light) to your partner. Visualize your partner sitting down, breathing to the designated rhythm, and receiving your transmission. Transmitter: Sit in a chair in a quiet location in front of the clock with your pen and paper in hand. Date the paper upon which you have written what you will be sending. Use the same paper to record what you will later receive. At the pre-designated time, begin the controlled breathing rhythm synchronous with the clock and begin transmitting the first thought. Visualize your partner sitting and breathing, ready to receive your transmission. Watch the clock to make sure your rhythm stays consistent and on time. Pump energy into the thought with your breathing for the first two minutes. During the third minute, observe the thought flowing away from you towards its destination. Feed the thought energy with your breath and then let it go. Visualize your breath giving the thought energy for propulsion, speeding it upon its way through a tube of light to your partner. For the fourth and fifth minutes, pump energy into the tube of light that you have visualized. Visualize the tube of light as the communication channel to your partner. If your breathing falls out of the designated rhythm, write that fact down. Also write down any distractions. Receiver: The receiver will first date the paper upon which they will record the impressions. Use the same page for writing what you have decided to transmit. The receiver will also breathe while watching the clock and write down their impressions during this first 5-minute period. If you fall out of the breathing rhythm, write that fact down. Also write down any distracting thoughts.

Psychic Development Course Page 75

The receiver should visualize an incoming tube of white light. Visualize connecting with this tube of light, knowing that it is the channel for communication with your partner. Don't feed the tube of white light energy. As the receiver, you do not want to project, you simply want to receive. 2. After the first 5-minute interval, the receiver will switch to being the transmitter. The person who was initially transmitting will switch to being the receiver and record their impressions for the next 5 minutes. Be sure to write all impressions down for later assessment. 3. After the second 5-minute interval, the partners will once again trade positions for the next 5 minutes. 4. For the last 5-minute interval, again trade positions as transmitter and receiver.

5. At the end of one week, make a copy of your notes which contain a record of what you have transmitted each day and what your impressions were while receiving. Send or give a copy of this record to your partner and have your partner send or give you a copy of what they have written down. 6. Try this experiment for about two or three weeks, documenting all results. 7. Assess the results and modify the transmission types to transmit the single type of thought which seems to produce the best results. Also discuss the results with your partner and decide together how to modify the experiment for a higher success rate.

Assessing the Results Given that the thoughts being transmitted in this exercise are purely random, the probability for any correct reception is practically zero. In the case of the university studies where one of five geometric symbols were used, there is a one in five chance for a correct answer, even by simple guessing. In this case however, where the possibilities are endless, the probability of guessing a correct answer is zero, for all practical purposes. Therefore, if you got even one answer correct, or possibly correct, you have done extremely well. Hopefully, you will have also proved to yourself that you do have a telepathic ability worth cultivating further. In reviewing and assessing the results, try to analyse what conditions may have affected the processes of transmission and reception. Some questions you might ask yourself when reviewing the results are: 1. What types of transmissions worked best? Was it sounds, pictures, shapes, words, feelings, smells, sensations, etc.? If you can determine what worked most effectively, use these types of transmissions during the second or third week. 2. Were the results exactly correct, or just possibly correct? Sometimes the receiver may get a vague or distorted impression of what was transmitted. This is encouraging and simply means that you both need more practice to get more precise results. 3. Were both you and your partner comfortable with the breathing rhythm selected? If one or both of you were not comfortable with the breathing rhythm, this could adversely affect

Psychic Development Course Page 76

the results. If this is the case, adjust the rhythm to be more comfortable between both of you. 4. Did either you or your partner have a prevailing thought which may have interfered with the transmission or reception? If this is the case, try using this prevailing thought as the subject of transmission. Also, use the dissociative process before beginning. 5. Can you determine who is better at receiving by reviewing the results? If so, the person weaker in this area should practice the dissociative process more regularly to improve. 6. Do either you or your partner have a problem concentrating while sending? If so, the person weak in this area should practice strengthening the Shield of Light with "light pumping." This exercise strengthens the ability to concentrate. 7. Were there any distractions while attempting to transmit or receive? How did these distractions affect the results? 8. Did any conditions exist which seemed to help? What were these conditions?

Some Other Experiments As a more controlled experiment, you might consider using the set of 5 geometric symbols as subjects for transmission. Agree with your partner on doing this before proceeding. In this manner you can gauge your success rate in quantitative terms. If two of five transmissions and receptions are correct, you have doubled the success rate over mere chance. If four or five symbols are correctly transmitted, you are doing extremely well and should really move on to more interesting subjects for transmission. Some people are more receptive to automatic writing. You may try having the receiver open up to writing their impressions, whilst receiving, without conscious intervention. You may also experiment with having the receiver reach out mentally to try and ascertain your thoughts. For some, this approach may work better. You may even try group telepathy experiments. Although this runs along the lines of a parlour trick, the effect is very much real. With the designated receiver not in the room, select an object, such as a specific book on a bookshelf. When the receiver enters the room, have the group think about directing the receiver to that selected object. Instruct the members of the group to "force" the receiver in the correct direction toward the object until the object is found. This type of demonstration requires that all members of the group be serious about the matter and avoid levity. The group must cooperate in the process in order for it to work properly. If the results of your experiments are not positive, there may be a number of causes. It may be that the partner you have selected did not create a shield to protect against other thoughts. Or perhaps they did not disassociate from their own thoughts and feelings. You may want to have your partner practice the previous exercises for protection and disassociation before trying again. To assist the process, try projecting a shield of white light around your partner, protecting them against distractions, as part of the experiment.

Psychic Development Course Page 77

You may want to work with another partner for two or three weeks. Some people will have better communication with certain types of people until the ability is well practiced. A more unlikely possibility is that your ability to transmit is not effective enough to penetrate through to the receiver. If you think this is possibly the case, practice the Shield of Light exercise regularly for two more weeks before trying again. You might also instruct the receiver to reach out mentally to read your thoughts while you are transmitting. Distractions from the environment are often a cause for interrupting the flow of thought when attempting to concentrate for transmitting or receiving. This can lead to possible frustration. Instead of being distracted by the environment, use the distraction as a subject for transmission. For example, if you happen to be hungry and smell your dinner cooking, don't be distracted by the smell. Instead, transmit the smell and hunger to your partner. If you hear a radio playing music nearby, rather than be distracted, focus on the sound and transmit it to your partner. The eventual goal of these exercises and experiments are to become efficient in the use of telepathy in everyday life. As each of us improve in our telepathic ability, we will learn to apply this skill to everyday situations in a practical way. You might find yourself sending a message like "don't forget the milk" when your spouse has gone to the market. Or you might become more dependent on telepathy when making decisions at work. You may find yourself breathing to the same rhythm as your mate when attempting to resolve a problem in order to gain some insight into the way they feel or think. You might even learn the breathing patterns of your friends and family members so that you can "tune in" to them at any time. You might even help your children with their history assignments or mathematics problems using telepathy. The possibilities are endless. Eventually, you may be able to convey useful information to your family, friends and associates, much the same in which you speak with them today. When this is achieved, the barriers that exist in using speech will no longer exist. The communication will convey understanding, leaving no room for misinterpretation.

Telepathy in other Life Forms The Plant Kingdom Before we continue into exploring telepathy in the other kingdoms, one point I would like to repeat from the introduction is: everyone has the ability to communicate using their mental telepathic powers. Since we are not taught about this power, then naturally we are not aware of it. Therefore, many people are reduced to the level of just "wondering" if it exists or not. Mental telepathy, like any other language or form of communication, is easiest to learn when one is young. Most of the "accidental" occurrences of telepathy that have been recorded happened with young people (most often with twins). Even so, those older can practice certain exercises to develop their mental telepathic skills. Before we explain these, let us look at mental telepathy in the other kingdoms, so we may have an idea of how it evolved.

Psychic Development Course Page 78

We are all aware that plants are living things, they take in nourishment (light), exhume waste (oxygen), and reproduce. But as you walk on grass, snap off branches while walking in the forest, or cut down your Christmas tree - did you ever stop to wonder that plants may have an intelligence, feelings, or even mental telepathic powers? Some studies done at a southern California university show plants seem to indeed be able to communicate, by the first method we described earlier: global telepathy. The following is one of a series GSR experiments done with plants. GSR stands for "Galvanized Skin Response" and is a small device usually used on humans in 'lie detector' tests. It is a tiny flat metal piece that when placed on and individual's body, measures the opening and closing of the pores in the skin. This is wired to a machine that draws lines of the pores activity, which resembles the lines drawn of machines that detect earthquakes, or brain activity. The theory behind the GSR is that when a person lies, several responses happen inside the body, such as high pore activity, or a faster heartbeat. Since plants also have pores, these series of tests were to see what kind of pore activity occurred when different things were done to the plant. At first a multitude of simple things were done; such as what happens when the plant is watered, covered with earth, and even sung or played music to. Something curious was found early in the experiment. Whenever one thing happened to a plant in the control room, many of the other plants showed activity as well (even though to a lesser degree). Was this some form of communication? The experiments were expanded to see if this was so. Half of the plants were then taken to another control room which was several buildings away, and a series of more complicated conditions were added. In one of the more evolved experiments, five people came into the first room of plants, each performing a different task (for example, one watered the plants, the other played a guitar one shone a high powered light, and so on). The plants in the first room showed their usual responses, while the plants in the second room showed none. Then, a sixth person entered, who had a pair of scissors and began cutting up the plants - more than a simple pruning to say the least. At this moment, all the lines drawn by the GSR machines showed violent reactions by ALL the plants in the first AND second rooms. Later in the day, each of the individuals entered the second room one by one, but without their accompanying "tool" they used in the first room. As the first five students entered the room, there was no significant reaction by the plants (although there were a few slight reactions when the girl who played music came in, drawing lines patterns similar to the ones made when she was playing to the first group). However, when the sixth person entered, the lines drawn by the machine went crazy! Even though he entered the room without his scissors, it was as if they KNEW he was the one who "cut up" the first group of plants! Keep in mind the two groups of plants were in completely different buildings.... We often think of plants as belonging to a "lower kingdom" in the evolution of life, but forget these creatures have been on the earth long before the dinosaur. If they are one of the first forms of life on earth, then they have had the longest time to evolve. All life forms communicate in some way, and plants then have been communicating long before any

Psychic Development Course Page 79

other life form that exists today. The WAY a plant communicates (global telepathy), is then probably one of the most evolved processes.

Meditation to bring your spirit, mind, and emotions into harmony Find a quiet time and space where you can be undisturbed for about 20 minutes each day. Close your eyes, and with your imagination, try to "see" the energy field that surrounds you. After having an image appear, create different emotions (joy, fear, love, anger, etc.) and image these emotions flowing into the energy field you created around you. When completed, do the reverse (send the emotions which are flowing in the energy field BACK into your physical body). Most of the time, an impulse will enter one's spiritual energy field (which acts as a giant "life force radar"), then travels to the emotions where the individual senses a "strange impression" - usually unexplainable. The mind does not have any explanation for this feeling, usually because the mind is not involved in the process - or does not believe in this process (which is about the same thing). This meditation will help the mind become involved in this process, so that when you train later with a partner, you will be able to send and receive at will, rather than having the impression come by "accident". The Medium Besides a sender and receiver in global telepathy, there is also the medium to consider - or, on what these telepathic impulses TRAVEL UPON. A common vibration most are familiar with is sound, which travels fairly fast and far on air, at 1,100 feet per second, (but even father, since whales can distinguish sounds from hundreds of miles away). Sound, be it through air or water, would be too slow of a vibration, for telepathic communication, since nearly all occurrences of global telepathy happened INSTANTANEOUSLY. The only energy that could travel this quickly would be light - which is also an energy vibration (as light rays) which is electronic in nature. Telepathic impulses then, would be similar to light rays. Since these are sent and received by the magnetic fields that surround us, the telepathic medium is probably the magnetic field that surrounds the earth. This would have all three: sender, medium, and receiver, sharing a common physical property: a magnetic field with a North South polarity. The only way to develop the cells in the back of your eyes is by concentrating on this tissue with your mind. Remember, thoughts themselves have a power. When a student constantly concentrates on a certain pieces of difficult information, they strengthen the pathways in their brain to get this information, therefore not forgetting it during a test. When you concentrate on these cells every day, you send them attention (which is a form of ENERGY) from the mind. This process will then strengthen these cells, for all cells are strengthened when you send them energy. Next, focus your concentration so that this attention is directed in developing your mental telepathic powers. Simply concentrating on these cells without purpose may develop some other area not wished by you, such as better colour recognition, or seeing better in the

Psychic Development Course Page 80

dark. To focus while concentrating on these cells, see yourself in your imagination being able to "pick up" and send thought to others. Subconsciously you will then be telling this part of your body you wish to use the power.

An Exercise: Global Telepathy Find someone (preferably one who is spiritually and emotionally close to you) who wishes to develop their mental telepathic powers as well. Agree on a certain time of the day in which one will be the sender, and the other a receiver. Then do the reverse at another time of the day. For example, at 12 noon person "A" sends and "B" receives, and at 6 pm person "B" sends and "A" receives. Now each day, no matter WHERE each of you are, open your minds to communicate with each other at these times. Remember, in global communication the spiritual and subconscious parts of you take an active role. These levels of existence communicate visually, usually with pictures. Therefore, do not try to send thoughts or emotions in the form of words, which is usually associated with sight telepathy. It may be that a picture or image may be too complicated to send, to start with. If difficulties seem to be the case in your experiments, trying sending and receiving just a single colour at first. For example, at the beginning of the week each chooses a colour (without telling the other) to send, and the other one tries to see it. After these become easy and common to communicate, move up to more complicated images.

Before Sending Your Thoughts To send your thoughts requires the belief that you are able to do so. Many accounts have been documented of subjects accidentally receiving thoughts due to an extraordinary circumstance. However, very few reports are on file of those actually experiencing sending thoughts. Many have reported thinking about sending thoughts, but since no results were seen after a few attempts, the effort was given up. Usually one does not learn how to swim in just one or two days, and the same can be said of mental telepathy. Besides controlling certain parts of your brain, a certain feel must be developed with light, in the same way a swimmer develops a special feel between the water and their body moving through it. The partner you wish to develop sight telepathy

Psychic Development Course Page 81

with must also have a willingness to devote some time to experimenting, besides believing telepathy is possible. The purpose of telepathy practice with cards In the ESP tests one practices to receive information only. With the telepathy test and exercises one learns to receive as well as to send information to others. It increases one's mind power and enables a person to project their feelings and intentions to others without having to say the words. It involves the use of the three types of symbols used in the ESP tests and exercises. How it is done. Testing for mental telepathy requires 2 people. One is the sender and the other, the receiver. The sender focuses on sending a mental image or message to the receiver who must of course determine what the information is. The information used will be the three tools used with the ESP tests and exercises, symbols, colours, and combo symbols. The participants practice being both the receiver and sender. Locally or at a distance: Mental telepathy can be practiced either locally (in the same room) or distance (using the telephone). Distance does not play a part in telepathy because the information can be sent or received at any distance. Locally: Both the sender and receiver are in the same room and can be at the same table as long as the symbol cards are out of view of the receiver (erect a barricade of sorts). The participants can also be in different parts of the room within voice distance of one another. Distance: Use a speaker phone if one is available. Using the telephone is an automatic barrier with which to keep the receiver from observing the cards or media being used. You can also use Skype (computer or mobile phone) or a similar app on your mobile phone. How to proceed using symbol cards: Sender: Shuffles the deck and then proceeds to turn over the cards one at a time. Each card is first recorded on the score sheet before the sender focuses on it, trying to project the image to the receiver. After this is done for a moment, the sender says, "card ready" to notify the sender to begin to focus on what it is. Receiver: As soon as the sender says "ready", the receiver focuses on whatever "feelings", "notions", "urgings" that first appear. It is important that the receiver say the very first thing that comes up as a choice for the "call". The sender then records the receiver's "call" on the score sheet in the column next to the card that was recorded there. Later the "hits" can be tallied at the bottom of the column. The point of course is that one does not get discouraged when not guessing the cards or getting a low score. This is a practice exercise that allows the development of mental telepathy ability. It is for training the mind in learning how to receive and interpret the symbols and perceptions. Using different symbols helps to keep the person being tested from getting bored which happens when using the same symbols over and over. It is important to maintain

Psychic Development Course Page 82

enthusiasm and interest when testing yourself because it has been found to make a difference. When a person begins to get bored, their score often goes down.

Exercise with photos Testing for mental telepathy with other media also requires 2 people. One is the sender and the other, the receiver. The sender tries to send a mental image or message to the receiver who must of course determine what the information is. The exercise here is to use photographs of landscape scenes, cityscapes, people in gatherings and solitary situations, etc. This exercise provides visualization training for projecting complete scenarios that one wants to become part of their physical reality. This is mind control at its peak. Locally or at a distance: Mental telepathy can be practiced either locally (in the same room) or distance (using the telephone). Distance does not play a part in telepathy because the information can be sent or received at any distance. Locally: Both the sender and receiver are in the same room and can be at the same table as long as the photos or other media are out of view of the receiver (erect a barricade of sorts). They can also be in different parts of the room within voice distance of one another. Distance: Use a speaker phone if one is available. Using the telephone is an automatic barrier with which to keep the receiver from observing the cards or media being used. Using distance also depends upon how much you pay for long distance service. How to proceed using photos or literature quotes: Sender: Studies a photo, looking carefully at every detail on it. The theme (landscape, cityscape, event, etc.) making a mental note of colours, people, what is happening, etc.) and then tries to mentally project the details to the receiver. At this time the sender says, "ready". Receiver: As soon as the sender says "ready", the receiver focuses on whatever "feelings", "notions", "urgings" that first appear. It is important that the receiver say the very first thing that comes up as a choice for the "call". The sender then records the receiver's "keywords" on a piece of paper. Later the "hits" can be compared to the misses for the same media being used. This is more of a subjective rating of the hits, because the receiver is trying to perceive any number of things that can be present with the media. The point of course is that one does not get discouraged when not guessing the correct content in the beginning. This is a practice exercise that allows the development of the ability to pick up the content of the media. It is training the mind in learning how to receive and interpret the symbols and perceptions. It is important to maintain enthusiasm and interest for best results. To avoid boredom, at the end of each, run two or three media items, the receiver and sender can switch roles. However, they must each have separate record sheets so that they don't get a look at their own score until a predetermined number of tries have been made by both persons.

Precognition

Precognition is the direct knowledge or perception of the future, obtained through extrasensory means. Precognition is the most frequently reported of all (ESP) experiences, occurring most often (60 percent to 70 percent) in dreams. It may also occur spontaneously in waking visions, auditory hallucinations, flashing thoughts entering the mind, and the sense of "knowing." Precognitive knowledge also may be induced through trance, channeling, mediumship, and divination. Usually the majority of precognitive experiences happen within a forty-eight-hour period prior to the future event, most often it is within twenty-four hours. In rare cases precognitive experiences occur months or even years before the actual event takes place. Severe emotional shock seems to be a major factor in precognition. By a ratio of four-to- one, most concern unhappy events, such as death and dying, illness, accidents, and natural disasters. Intimacy is also a major factor, 80 to 85 percent of such experiences involve a spouse, family member or friend with whom the individual has close emotional ties. The remainder involves casual acquaintances and strangers, most of whom are victims in major disasters such as airplane crashes or earthquakes. The difference between precognition, premonition, and : premonition generally involves knowledge of a future event while premonition involves the sense or feeling that something is going to happen; whereas all prophecy is precognition, but not all precognition is prophecy. The reliance upon precognition reaches back to ancient times, when and were sought for their access to the future. The Greeks considered the future immutable. Free will, however, can change the perceived future, as seen in the many incidents of individuals saving their lives and escaping disasters by changing their previously formed plans based on precognitive information. Psychical researchers estimate that one-third to one-half of all precognitive experiences may provide useful information to avert disasters. This apparent ability to alter the perceived future makes precognition difficult to understand. If precognition is a glimpse of the true or real future, then the effects are witnessed before the causes. Such conditions do occur in quantum physics. The most popular theory holds that precognition is a glimpse of a possible future that is based upon present conditions and existing information, and which may be altered depending upon acts of free will. That theory implies the future can cause the past, a phenomenon called "backward " or "retro-causality." A different and controversial theory contends that the precognitive experience itself unleashes a powerful psychokinetic (PK) energy, which then brings the envisioned future to pass. Such self-fulfilling were examined in the 1960s by the London psychiatrist J. A. Barker, who contended in his book, Scared to Death, that people who died in the manner and at the time predicted by fortune-tellers were literally "scared to death" and contributed somehow to their own demise. Barker studied more surrounding the coal slide disaster in 1966, at Aberfan, Wales, which killed 144 people. He

Psychic Development Course Page 84

established the British Premonitions Bureau, which collected precognitive data in order to avert disasters. Barker succeeded in finding a number of "human seismographs" who tuned in regularly to disasters but were unable to accurately pinpoint the times. Despite the difficulty in understanding precognition, it is the easiest form of extrasensory perception to test in the laboratory. J. W. Dunne, a British aeronautics engineer, undertook the first systematic study of precognition in the early twentieth century. In 1927, he published the classic , which contained his findings and theories. Dunne's study was based on his personal precognitive dreams, which involved both trivial incidents in his own life and major news events appearing in the press the day after the dream. When first realizing that he was seeing the future in his dreams, Dunne worried that he was "a freak." His worries soon eased when discovering that precognitive dreams are common; he concluded, that many people have them without realizing it, perhaps because they do not recall the details or fail to properly interpret the dream symbols. Dunne's Theory of Serial Time proposes that time exists in layers on dimensions, each of which may be viewed in different perspectives from different layers. The origin of all layers is Absolute Time, created by God. Needless to say, the scientific community rejected Dunne's theory. J. B. Rhine and Louisa Rhine began the next significant systematic research of precognition in the 1930s at the Laboratory at Duke University. J. B. Rhine's original goal was to prove telepathy, but his experiment with ESP cards also revealed precognition and PK; however, when other psychical researchers perused Rhine's work, precognition continued being an ongoing research project. One peculiarity concerning precognition is that one rarely perceives one's own death; perhaps one explanation is the trauma of it too great for the ego to accept. Some notable exceptions do exist: Abraham Lincoln dreamed of his own death six weeks before his assassination. However, his dream was not of being shot and dying, but of being an observer after the fact. He saw a long procession of mourners entering the White House. When he entered himself and passed the coffin, he was shocked to find himself looking at his own body. American presidents John Garfield and William McKinley also experienced foreknowledge of their deaths. Now that we've covered psychic abilities and how to develop them, let's try them out by accessing the Akashic Records.

Akashic Records

The Akashic Records are a vast energetic repository of information – everything that has ever happened in the past and every possible future that currently exists is contained within the Akashic Records. It’s tempting to think of the Akashic Records as a specific place, however, this is not the case. Every Being has their own Akashic Record, and all these Records are interwoven and entwined into a giant, fifth-dimensional information super-highway.

Psychic Development Course Page 85

The Internet is actually a great analogy for the Akashic Records – the Records can be accessed from anywhere, and all information is available on demand as long as you know the correct URL! Some aspects of the Records are definitely “password protected” or are “secure sites” that not everyone can read. However, a huge amount of information is freely available ... if we know how to access it! This is actually the main issue with accessing the Akashic Records. So much information is available that, without a clear understanding of what we are looking for and how to interpret the information, this vast database is practically useless. Imagine being given a computer with Internet access, without access to a Search Engine such as Google or Yahoo, or even the name of a single website. How would you ever find what you are looking for? You wouldn’t be able to navigate the Internet at all, in spite of having the resource available to you! This is how most people who access the Records find themselves – without any clear understanding of how to unlock the tremendous information contained therein. It’s hard to know what to look for, after all, if you don’t know what is available! In order to access the Records in a useful, practical way, we must have a clear grasp not only of what we are looking for, but also how to access the information AND interpret it clearly. We are permitted to access our own Akashic Record at any time – in fact, we frequently do so unconsciously. Our Akashic Record is a resource to which our own Higher Self has absolute access. The intuitive information we receive is filtered through our Soul’s past experiences and lessons, all of which is stored in our Record. Think of our own Akashic Record as our Soul’s memory bank! Our Akashic Records also contain information about all of our possible futures, a vast and changing field of information that is constantly shifting and changing based on our choices in the present moment. From our Akashic Record, we can also access memories contained within the collective consciousness that we are currently participating in, as well as the possible futures of that collective consciousness. In other words, society’s past and future is also accessible from our Akashic Record. After all, we are intimately connected with all other Beings through this information super-highway that makes up the Akashic Records! Just because information exists in the Records doesn’t mean it’s all available to us at a conscious level! First of all, there is simply too much for our little minds to process – if we were to access everything all at once, we would be in a state of utter information overload! Just from living in the “information age,” we all know what that feels like ... now imagine it going on in your head all the time! Obviously, then, the flow of information from the Records needs to be filtered and managed. Our own Higher Self is in charge of the details of this process – it manages our Record for us. In the end, however, the information we receive is governed by our intent.

Psychic Development Course Page 86

We create our human, physical experience through choice and free will. Our intention leads the way in this process! While we are incarnated, our Higher Self can guide us, nudge us, and inform us – but our choices are made at the conscious level, and our Higher Self cannot interfere with our choices. Our Higher Self follows our intention and supports us in creating the lifetime we want. The problem is, of course, that most people who enter the Akashic Records have no idea what they are looking for! It’s tough to create a clear intention about gathering information when you have no idea what’s available. This is why accessing the Akashic Records accurately is tricky unless you have a comprehensive way of processing the information into a format that the conscious mind can work with. The Ultimate Importance of Intention

Many attempt to access the Records and feel they are researching historical events, galactic issues and all kinds of other things. They will gather information about the 2012 phenomenon (that has now passed), the future, and the Soul history of celebrities. At best, this kind of information is impossible to validate. The Akashic Records mirror our intention back to us at all times. Remember, intention is what determines the information flow. And what is the intent behind accessing a celebrities’ Soul history? Or discovering what really happened to JFK? Unfortunately, the motivation behind this kind of Akashic Record “research” is ego- based curiosity. This is not information designed to move us forward on our highest path and purpose. It does not directly influences our ability to make decisions today. This sort of inquiry into the Records, if we are honest with ourselves, is motivated by a thirst for information just for the sake of information. It’s not information that can serve us in any productive way, making the decisions that create our lives. It’s important when we access the Records to understand that what we discover is a mirror of our intent. If we access the Records out of curiosity, we will receive information that makes us even more curious, creating a never-ending quest for “answers” that have little to do with our Soul’s journey of spiritual development.

Can We Access Other People’s Akashic Records? Unless we are given express permission, we are also not empowered to access the Akashic Record of another Soul. Of course, if in our intention we are bound and determined to access someone else’s Record, we will think we are receiving information about that person. However, this information is likely to be inaccurate. The intention should always be to access the Records in alignment with the highest good of the individual we are reading for, as well as the highest good of all. How Can We Use the Akashic Records? The Akashic Records, when used correctly, can be an incredible resource. We are here as the powerful Creators of our human experience. This is why our Soul incarnated – to

Psychic Development Course Page 87

experience itself as Creator, to practice self-determination in the physical world. We create at all times through choice and free will. We choose our actions, thoughts, feelings, words - this is how we create our lifetime. The information contained within the Akashic Records can assist us profoundly in creating the experience we want. In the end, information is useless unless it is applied to the choices that present themselves to us. The Akashic Records may contain information, but their true purpose is to be a source of wisdom. Wisdom is exactly the right information, received through our clear and conscious intent, applied in alignment with our highest path, to express our Divinity into this human experience. The Akashic Records can tell us about our Soul’s origins, Divine gifts, and history, thus allowing us to step into our most sacred, powerful Divine aspects. We uncover choices we have made in past lifetimes that are responsible for negative consequences that remain with us to this present day. In this way, we can understand our present-life experiences through a Soul-level perspective. When we look at ourselves from this Soul-level perspective, then so much of who we are in this lifetime becomes clear. We understand our purpose, our lessons, and our struggles in a way that also allows us to own our Divine nature. Being able to access the Akashic Record allows you to provide information about a soul’s past, present and future. Most often, people ask about their past lives. How do you get information from the Akashic Records? And how do you tune in? Do you go into a trance or something? To go into the Akashic Records, the process is similar to the way psychics tune into your Spirit Guides or Higher Self. The main component of the tuning in process is a visualization which takes you to the Hall of Akashic Records. However, once you get there, you need Akashic record Spirit Guides to find the relevant information for you, as the Hall of Akashic records is a vast place. Once you are in, you give your Guides the relevant birth information and they find the right Akashic Record file for you. Then, to read the person’s file or soul record, you need to understand which information to look for, and you need a system of retrieving it. Most people do not go into a trance whilst doing it, but remain in the same state that they're in when doing a meditation. Ensure you find a quiet place, with no distractions whilst you're reading the Akashic Record. What kind of questions do you ask in the Akashic Record? It depends on what kind of reading you're doing. For example, if you're doing a reading for someone who wants to know about their soul purpose for this lifetime, their career and what kind of work would suit them, then look up information on their soul’s intended gifts and purpose for this lifetime. If someone was looking for healing, you would read their soul record and energy body to find the negative "stuff" which is affecting them. With the client’s permission, you can also affect the Akasha energy (the energy of someone’s

Psychic Development Course Page 88

Akashic Records) to create healing for them. For example, if a client is affected by a past- life vow of poverty, there are ways to erase that energy of scarcity and poverty from their energy and from their soul record. Why do you need someone’s date of birth, name and place of birth to read the Akashic Record? You need this information to confirm that you are reading for the right person. For example, if you go into the Akashic Record and tell your guides that you want to read for Charles Smith, they may be unclear on who you mean. You need the other details to make sure there is no confusion about who you're referring to – similar to the Dewey Decimal system used in ordinary libraries.

Meditation to enter the Akashic Records

Finding or returning to your own special place of relaxation, beginning to settle in – enjoying the comfort of this special place, I invite you to sit or lay back and relax as you begin to settle into a pleasant relaxing hypnotic trance… Taking a deep breath, hold it, let it slowly go, as it takes away with it the cares of the day. And taking another deep breath, hold it… and let it slowly go. And another time, breathing in, hold it, and let it go – carrying away the tensions, stresses and cares of the day. Feeling yourself settling deeper into the place where you are sitting or lying, you can imagine your upper eyelids gently resting against your lower eyelids – relaxing deeply now… …And you can find yourself drifting into a very deep, pleasant state of trance. As you relax deeply now, you find this same deep gentle relaxation, arising within your body, beginning from below, and rising up until you become more and more relaxed. You continue to walk down your path, noting the beauty of this place You see the joy and the wonder here. And in distance, see an entry way that leads to a special place

Approach it and observe what it looks like.

As you come closer, you see that it opens into some kind of room/hallway Before entering, you know that you can ask for any guidance, wisdom or protection that you might find appropriate at this time. You look around, and see that this place is so very interesting. As you begin to step into the room, you notice that there are stairs You can see whether they go up or go down in a way that is special for you, And you know that these stairs will take you deeper – take you into that special place where you will learn, experience and understand.

Psychic Development Course Page 89

As you enter the stairs, following them to their end, you note ahead of you that there is a door. This is a special door that leads to your answers. You again pause to note the detail. What it is made of. Its features, How it opens You find that it opens, and allows you to step through As you step through, you can see around you in this place. You note what is here. You note what is nearby, what is in the distance, where things are, the tiny details See/Observe/Sense the importance of this place Perhaps this place is one which others have been

Perhaps Edgar Cayce or other seers Perhaps others have been here at one time Or perhaps you are the first one to ever have entered this magical place of higher awareness In The Akashic Hall You look around this place, studying it even further. You realize, or maybe you already knew, that this place is that place of higher awareness, the hall of understanding, which you have been seeking. There is information here

Maybe a guide, maybe books, videos, computers, crystal balls, or any other means of learning They are here for you to absorb that information which is most meaningful to you It may be something that you wish to see, or study.

It may be some new ability which you wish to learn. Or it may be another gift which is so appropriate for you You look around you, and select the most important thing of knowledge

Perhaps a book, or perhaps another means of learning See this medium in front of you – observe its exterior

Open or otherwise access it – observe its interior. There is knowledge here – important knowledge that’s just right for you Absorb it; learn what is to be learned

Looking further, you can find anything else important to you. Again opening it, learning from it,

Psychic Development Course Page 90

Feeling it fill you with wisdom Perhaps it imparts you with a gift, a healing ability … Or perhaps with knowledge you never realized … Perhaps a gift that is new – or perhaps one you already had

With this medium, whatever it is, and how ever many you may choose You can feel the sense of knowing that comes with your opening of the channel Feel the inner growth, the inner certainty that comes from being in touch with this medium Know that you have the vision to see, the openness to hear, the sensitivity to feel.

Allow this knowledge to fill you, opening you to that of which you wish to learn

Allow the insights, the healing that you seek to come to you in its own way, at its own time. It may come now, or it may come later – in the way that is best for you. Feel your connection with that other realm.

Returning from the Hall You find that you can learn what your subconscious seeks here in this place. You spend a moment more with that one final medium of knowledge

Returning it to its place

With respect and thanks Honoring those who came before, and those who may come after, as appropriate for you Closing it, placing it back in the proper place, With knowledge of the gifts you have received, turn from it and look around at this magical place. Once again notice more of what there is to see. Mark in your mind the location of all that is important to you, so you can come back here at some future time. Turning from this place, exiting, and returning

Exiting, returning, arriving… Returning to the outside world – the world of conscious awareness

Count Out Now, after your wonderful journey, you find that you are ready to return to full conscious awareness.

Psychic Development Course Page 91

And on the count of five, you find that you will emerge, refreshed, relaxed and aware: 1- Beginning to emerge, bringing with you the special gifts of your journey 2- A little more out of trance - Becoming aware of sounds in the background 3- Half way out of trance –feeling the air on your face, the sense of your surroundings 4- Almost all the way out of trance, bringing with you the special gifts from your journey. 5- Opening your eyes, refreshed relaxed and aware – perhaps feeling better, wiser and more enlightened than you may have felt in a long, long time.

Please complete the Akashic Records Attunement at this point and remember to record your experience in your journal

SOME MORE EXERCISES TO HELP YOU ON YOUR WAY

Exercise 1: Getting in Touch with Yourself Answer the following questions with your first and immediate response. These are questions you can ask yourself any time in your life to receive immediate answers in any given situation or life period. This is a useful way to do a reading for yourself. Go with your first and immediate answer, don’t think about the answer, just let it come.

1. In this moment, what do you want? 2. In this moment, what do you need? 3. In this moment, what is your greatest fear? 4. In this moment, what is your dearest wish?

Psychic Development Course Page 92

5. In this moment, what do you need to be happy? 6. In this moment, what is your ambition?

7. In this moment, what is your greatest challenge? 8. In this moment, what is your most formidable obstacle? 9. In this moment, how are you your own worst enemy?

10. In this moment, with what part of your life are you most satisfied? 11. In this moment, what is missing in your life? 12. In this moment, in which area of your life would you most like to see change in the coming year? 13. What is your mission?

Exercise 2: How Can You Tell If You Are Seeing the Past, Present, Or Future? Each time frame has a different "flavour", and it is an individual perception for everyone. You may notice that when you’re looking into the past there is a different sensation than when you are looking at the present or the future. We will look at what is the difference when you look at the past, present or future. Write down your impressions as you go through each of these places in time:

1. Think of a moment in your childhood, observe the scene, what is happening? 2. Think of something that happened last week, observe it. What are the details? 3. Think of something you did today, only a few hours ago. 4. What will you be doing tomorrow? 5. What will you be doing a few weeks from now? 6. What will you be doing a few years into the future? 7. What will you be doing ten years into the future?

8. What will you be doing near the end of your life? 9. What will you be doing in the afterlife?

Notice how there is a different sensation for each of these time periods. For instance, you might notice that when looking at the past, things seemed concrete, perhaps even darker, more detailed, or some other sensation. When you're looking into the future, things might seem vague, lighter, or some other sensation. Find out how you perceive the past, present, and future, and then you will know whether what you're seeing in your intuitive reading is coming from the past, present or future.

Exercise 3: Making Use of Polarities

Psychic Development Course Page 93

Instead of giving yes no answers, for these can be rather vague and do not give a lot of information, discover what you associate with various feelings that are on different sides of the spectrum, or two polarities. Sometimes a yes or no answer is in order and appropriate, but sometimes more information is needed, and sometimes more information is being conveyed as well. Here are some examples of interpreting polarities. Someone may ask a question and suddenly you get a hot feeling. This could mean there is growth, activity, healing, good, positive, yes. Perhaps you suddenly got a cold feeling. This could mean rigidity, death, pain, negative, no. Now use the polarities below and determine what they might mean in a reading if you receive these images or feelings. Each reading will have an individual interpretation of these, but for now just get a sense of what they mean to you in this moment. hot/cold day/night hi/low heavy/light good/evil healthful/harmful nourishing/depleting growing/shrinking smooth/rough clear/entangled developing/eroding rising/falling birthing/dying forward/backward beginning/end hard/easy

Exercise 4: Awaken Your Psychic Centres

Using your right hand, place the forefinger directly on the centre of your forehead about 1 inch above the bridge of your nose. If you would like to, you can place your thumb and middle finger on either side of the nose. Take a deep breath, maintain this position, and hold it for the count of 10. Then exhale. Do this five times without moving. Feel the energy coming into your third eye, and the energy in your body. This exercise stimulates the pituitary gland and the pineal gland in the centre of your head. These are physical terminals of your two major head centres, the sixth and seventh chakras. When they are in harmony with each other, the centres work together to bring you a higher sense of awareness. Try to practice this every day.

Psychic Self-Defence

So what exactly is psychic attack?

A psychic attack is simply negative energy that someone sends with the conscious or unconscious intention to inflict harm upon you, your life or your family. Harm can be launched towards your emotional, physical, spiritual or mental state. Those negative energies can be projected in the form of thought, based mainly upon jealousy toward you.

It can also happen for many reasons other than jealousy.

A psychic attack can be influenced 98% of the time by someone in your surrounding that you already know, even friends or family members, although is not always intentional. These thought forms can be sent consciously or unconsciously. When they are sent unconsciously, the person sending the thoughts is doing so without their own awareness and jealousy, envy, or anger are usually the motivation behind them. A conscious attack is when someone deliberately means harm to you and can be compared to black , witchcraft, and spell casting. In South Africa, some people even go so far as to get spells put against others through Sangomas (African witch doctors) or from their [Hindu] priest.

Keep in mind that a psychic attack is less about you than it is about the weakness of your attacker.

Reasons Why Someone Might Attack You Psychically They are jealous.

Your life is progressing forward while theirs is stagnant. They are envious of your looks, your career, your wife or husband, your environment. They are living in their dark side at the moment. Lack of self-conviction.

Fear.

Psychic Development Course Page 95

If you consciously send negative energy toward someone else with the intention of inflicting harm, then what you send is exactly what you will attract upon yourself in your own life. The Universal Law of karma states that what goes around comes back around to you multiplied.

Symptoms of a Psychic Attack

Here are some examples of what you can experience whilst under a psychic attack:

Dreaming very frightening nightmares. Seeing your attacker in a devilish way, either in your dreams, your meditation or in your thoughts.

Feeling tired and depleted of energy constantly and for no reason. Having pains in the same place at the same time on a regular basis.

Experiencing illness or pains in areas of weakness that your attacker is already aware of. Lack of concentration and feelings of laziness when it comes to completing daily tasks. Having unusually painful, even severe cases, headaches accompanied with vomiting or dizziness.

Questioning or doubting your direction in life, even after having been aware of your direction beforehand.

Depression. Having thoughts and images of your attacker creeping into your mind constantly.

Feeling that you are being watched and seeing shadows around you from the corner of your eye, even when you are alone.

The worst kind of psychic attack can inflict feelings of having a heart attack, and feelings of the desire to commit suicide.

How to Heal Psychic Attacks

Be Aware - Becoming aware of the psychic attack through identification of the unusual events that are taking place in your life will help to diminish the effect of the attack by 75%.

Ask for Guidance - Ask your Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels to help you stop the attack and for protection, even if you do not know them or believe in them, asking them is enough, your faith is not required for them to do their work, although it helps. Do Not Mirror Your Attacker's Actions - DO NOT SEND similar energy or thoughts to your attacker. Send only the pure white energy of light directly from the Universe, the

Source or from the GOD of your own belief. Send Loving Thoughts - Remember your attacker is the weaker one so instead of returning thoughts of anger, hate or fear to them try to feel compassion toward him or her and send them light, love, and blessings to help them see and heal their own darkness. Protect Yourself - Every time your attacker comes into your mind, imagine that you are

Psychic Development Course Page 96

showering them with the pure light of the Universe. Always change the way you send your light by imagining it being sent in different ways and always remember to keep your protection around you. Be Strong - Work on Yourself. The most important way of protecting yourself from the effect of psychic attack in the first place is to be emotionally strong and stable and do not allow others to identify with your fears because this reveals your weakness. Try to identify with your own emotional issues and fears and heal them, this way you are protecting yourself from being emotionally vulnerable, making you less likely to absorb the effects of the negative energies.2

METHODS OF SELF-PROTECTION You can protect yourself in innumerable ways. Using a psychic shield is the best and the commonest psychic protection technique in the world. Your psychic shield can be a simple energy bubble within which you place yourself or it can be a complex multi-layered shield. There are several different types of psychic shields, and to get the maximum benefits, you must know exactly how to create a psychic shield. The following are a few varieties of psychic shields. Ball of Light Technique The Ball of Light, like the psychic shield, is among the simplest and most basic technique of psychic protection. Visualize a bright white light, the source of which is related to the universal consciousness. Bright white light usually indicates protection from the highest power, the Creator Itself. Here are step-by-step instructions to create a ball of light. 1. Visualize a bright while ball of light full of love arriving from the heavens. As you visualize it, feel the love and protection that it offers. 2. When the ball of light approaches you, feel its warmth and protectiveness and allow it to envelop your body in all directions. 3. Allow this ball of bright white light to immerse you completely within itself. Feel your body and mind getting charged with the abundant, powerful, protective, and loving energy of the universe. 4. For maximum benefits, continue visualizing the ball of light for at least one minute. The ball of light protects you from all negative and harmful entities. Nothing bad will happen to you as long as you are surrounded by the ball of light. No evil vibrations will approach. They will simply move over the ball and away from you without touching you in any way. If you perform the above-mentioned exercise daily, the ball of light will protect you every moment of your life. Fire Within You Technique

Fire is a great psychic protection technique, which is ideal for people in need of strong protection. Here is how you use the fire technique for protection.

Psychic Development Course Page 97

1. Stand erect and breathe deeply. Imagine a small flame burning on your Third Eye Chakra, which is located between your eyebrows. Focus on this flame for some time. Remember that this flame is protective in nature and cannot harm you in any way. 2. Visualize the flame spreading till your entire head is engulfed in flames. Let the fire spread over your shoulders, chest, back, and abdomen. Visualize the fire growing bigger and bigger till your entire body is engulfed in flames. 3. Ensure that the fire is fierce and intense. The fire must extend to a radius of 1 – 2 feet around your body in all directions. 4. Whenever you exhale, the flame will get stronger. Visualize this flame for around 1 – 2 minutes for maximum benefits. You will not feel hot; and you will not suffer any burns. This is a spiritual flame, which will make you feel warm, loved, and protected as long as it is around you. You are safe as long as the fire surrounds you; no negative entity will dare approach you. If it does, the flame will ruthlessly burn it down and prevent it from touching you. Rain and Lightning Technique You can use the rain and lightning method for protection. Here is how you do it. 1. Assume any comfortable posture, breathe deeply, and relax. 2. Imagine tiny drops of rain falling from the sky. Imagine them getting attracted to you from all directions and form a protective shield around you till they surround you completely. 3. Visualize the drops of rain at a radius of 1 – 2 feet away from you. They do not touch you. Visualize the raindrops falling…the more it rains, the more droplets attach themselves to the spherical shield of raindrops around you, making the protective shield larger and stronger. 4. Now imagine a powerful bolt of lightning touch the protective shield of raindrops. Naturally, the shield gets electrocuted and sparks fly in all directions. Visualize the sparks as powerful and intense; and visualize many of them flying in all directions. 5. Hold the imagery in your mind for a minute or two for the maximum benefits. Remember that the raindrops and the lightning will not harm you because they are meant for your protection. Any negative entity that tries to approach you with the intention of harming you will be destroyed even before it can touch you.3 Salt Techniques

There is one psychic method of protection that is very well known. You have probably seen salt crystals used for psychic self-defence in many films or read about them in books. The crystals of salt (or just salt) work great in absorbing any type of negative energy and it can also be used for effective energy disconnection techniques. In some movies you might have seen the main character making a circle with salt (or magic circle) in order to protect

3 Practical Psychic Protection – Astral Project Now

Psychic Development Course Page 98

from witches, or anything evil out there. This method of defence actually really works, and there are many books that describe how salt can be used to protect one from psychic attacks. Please remember that we are living in the world where if you start pouring salt around yourself, you might be considered crazy and you can end up in a mad house (visualizing a circle of salt around yourself will also have its effect). There are much simpler and at the same time very effective ways to use salt for your psychic self- protection and disconnection from an energy aggressor. One of the most common energy protection techniques involving salt that many of us do without even realizing it is taking a bath with sea salt. When you are taking a bath and you put sea salt in the water it helps your energy bodies to disconnect from all the possible negative energy leaches you might have acquired during the day. One of the best ways to disconnect from all the negative things that might have happened to you during the day is to make yourself a bath, put some sea salt in it (don’t go too crazy with the salt though, you can just use the instruction on the box), lay in the bath, and when you feel relaxed try to put your whole body including your head under the water for about 15-20 sec (or for as many seconds you will feel comfortable doing, more than 20 seconds would probably be overdoing it). This method of psychic self-defence can also help you identify psychic energy vampires in your inner circle. The one who calls you right after you took a sea salt bath and wants to keep on talking to you for more than 5 minutes many is often a psychic energy (and don’t be surprised if it is your best friend or even a relative). You can also use this technique by means of visualization, for a quick relaxation (and disconnection from psychic energy vampires) during your day. You can visualize the process of submerging your body into a sea salt bath without actually doing it. However, it is recommended to do the sea salt bath at least once before simply visualizing the process. When your body had the experience (and practice) it is much easier and a lot more effective to visualize certain things and processes. One other way to use salt for energy protection is to put a glass of water with salt on your work desk. The salt will absorb the negative energy from people at your workplace. Make sure to correctly dispose (flush it to the toilet) of this water after a day of work. A fancy way to protect your workplace or your home is to have a salt lamp (you can find one in an esoteric store near you or order one online) – it actually does help to clear up all the 4 negative energy.

PSYCHIC SELF-PROTECTION ATTUNEMENT Amongst the extras included with this course, you have been sent a free attunement for daily self-protection. It is a good idea to visualize a gold egg shape around yourself and loved ones every morning, together with stating the intention that you are completely protected, or call in the assistance of Archangel Michael, who is very willing to assist with his sword and shield.

Preparing Your Mind for Healing

The channeling of healing energy occurs when you allow yourself to be a vehicle or channel through which healing energy can flow, which can have a profound effect. It is important, when acting as a channel for healing energy or channeling, to centre and protect yourself. By using deep breathing exercises and visualisation, the channeller is able to prepare themselves for the gift they are about to use. The secret of channelling healing energy is ALLOWING yourself to feel connected to a positive energy source and allow the free flowing of the energy through you to someone else. By tapping various energy sources within our bodies and without, we are able to connect in other ways. These centres are natural doorways to positive energy. When we associate words with the experience, we can also open doors in this manner. The word "love" will make us feel relaxed and peaceful. Using the word "love" connects us to the energy source that is love. Words therefore can be used as a connection to a positive energy source. The more love we have for the person we are touching, the stronger the feeling or healing is. This is because you give your touch a special essence, the essence of love. We all know that when we are happy, energized or in a good mood, our touch seems to be more pleasant to other people. When we are in a bad mood, our touch is not as pleasant. How you feel at a given moment is expressed through your energy. When we learn to regulate our moods and the energy of our healing, our healing is more effective. It is vital that we clear our mind of all our problems and only heal when we feel cleared of such problems.

Centering

Centering is bringing the body, mind and emotions to a quiet, focused state of consciousness. Centering is using the breath, imagery, meditation and/or visualisations to open yourself to find an inner sense of equilibrium to connect with the inner core of wholeness and stillness.

1. Having found a comfortable position, make a deliberate attempt to relax all physical tension. Think right through your body from head to foot, relaxing each part of your body. Nervous tension must be consciously released and, after minute or two we should

Psychic Development Course Page 100

still physically poised, but at rest. We should be aware of our bodies. This is important

because any muscle that is tense will begin to ache and fidget as time goes on and bring our attention back to our physical body and away from our need to pursue our higher intention.

2. Your breathing should be quiet and slowed. Counting can help to create a rhythm. Once a rhythm is established, stop counting or it can become a mental habit which is difficult

to break.

3. Any words which embody the quality to be attained can be repeated here, but no word or phrase should be repeated more than a few times. "I am at ease and all my feelings

are serene" or "I am a centre of calm clarity and light" or "My whole body is filled with

love and healing energy". 4. Visualisation can also help in creating this still centre of consciousness. The emotional body can be imagined and visualized as a smooth and limpid pool, with a quiet reflective quality, which offers no impediment to alignment with the mind. Centering was briefly covered earlier in this manual.

Assessing or Scanning

Assessing or scanning is done by holding the hands 5 cm to 15 cm (2 to 6 inches) away from the individual's body in the energy field. You should never touch the client during this process. Move your hands from the client's head to the feet in a slow deliberate rhythmical, symmetrical manner. The arms and legs should also be done. Sensory clues, such as warmth, coolness, static, blockage, pulling, tingling, energy deficiency or hyperactivity and pulsation are described by some practitioners. These are all clues as to harmony or disharmony in the energy fields. It may take a while to work out what your hands are telling you. Your hands may take time to become sensitised to the energy field of others. The most vital thing to remember is to use your intuition. Listen to your gut feel. It is also possible to feel the chakras and work out the health of the chakras from the sensation you get from them. The sensations you feel are open to your interpretation of them. If you are unsure, ask your client questions, to determine what is happening in their aura. Some healers who are open to channelling receive messages as to what is wrong with a client from their guides. Healers can assess by reading or seeing the aura.

Unruffling the Aura

Unruffling is also called clearing and it involves facilitating the symmetrical flow of energy through the energy field. Due to everyday interactions and stresses, the aura becomes slightly uneven. There are often areas where the energy is thicker, such as by a stiff muscle. Unruffling is used to calm and soothe the aura and redistribute the energy. Most people find this a wonderful relaxing experience. Unruffling is achieved by using hand movements from the head to the feet. Your right hand will rotate anti-clockwise and the left hand rotates clockwise at the same time. Each arm is done separately. If at any time you feel the need to flick your hands, obey your instincts and flick

Psychic Development Course Page 101

away any energy that has accumulated on your hands. You must flick the energy away at the feet and fingers.

Scooping

Scooping should be used sparingly or not at all, when working with people with a sensitive aura. The aura's sensitivity should be determined during the consultation that takes place prior to a healing session. Scooping is done for the following reasons:

1 High temperature -This is very good for removing excess heat from the aura. 2 Stress -Scooping is very effective in removing negativity and stress. 3 Pain - As scooping shifts large amounts of auric fluid and removes fluid, it is able to reduce pain by up to 50%.

4 Nausea. 5 Depression - Depression is a negativity which can be removed from the aura. 6 Infections.

7 Blockages.

HOW TO SCOOP Use both hands to scoop up energy from the affected area and flick it away. This is done in the same way one would scoop up beach sand. In this case you are scooping out negative energy. Some healers like to use a double - terminated quartz crystal to "hook" out auric mucus or negativity. Allow your intuition to guide you as to when you need to scoop. It is important that you seal the area you have scooped to smooth down the aura. Scooping is similar to , which you will learn in your Reiki course. Psychic surgery scoops negative energy out of the body, whereas scooping removes negative energy from the aura.

Grounding

You may wonder why I am putting grounding in here, when it appeared in your Meditation & Visualisation manual. It is because it is SO VERY important!! If you do not ground your client, they will leave feeling spaced out and not fully able to concentrate (which wouldn't be good if they are driving themselves home). While the healing session is in progress, spiritual energy is used, and the client "loses touch" with earth. Grounding is necessary to re-establish the earth link. It is very important to ground a client after a healing session. This can be done in several different ways. You may use just one of the following or any combination of these. Do whatever feels right for you and your client.

1 Place each hand over the knees and move your hands from the knees down to the feet as if you are making a pulling movement and then flick the energy away. Do this three times.

Psychic Development Course Page 102

2 By applying pressure to the solar plexus position under the feet. 3 Imagine roots growing from their feet deep into the ground. 4 Make your client walk around barefoot for a short while or hug a tree. 5 Hold a stone or plant.

Chakra and Aura Evaluation and Healing

Most chakra authorities agree that a healthy chakra spins clockwise in both spheres, is a uniformly-shaped circle, is rhythmic and emanates, front and back, about a foot away from the body. Its circular shapes should be about one foot in circumference.

Chakra Shape

5The ideal shape of a chakra is round and full. Misshapen or distorted shapes indicate physical, emotional, mental or spiritual problems. In general, a shift of shape toward the right side of a chakra indicates issues of a masculine nature, such as domination and power, action and behaviour, logic and rationality. If the shape shifts towards the left side of the chakra, the person may be dealing with feminine issues such as receiving and responding, learning or healing, creating or feeling. Here are some basic meanings of the general chakra shapes that people perceive: Round: healthy and balanced Lacking substance on the right: oriented towards unconscious programming, emotions, and right-brain creativity, but lacking action and follow-through. Lacking substance on the left: geared towards conscious behaviour and actions, left-brain analysis, but lacking creativity and intuition. Lacking substance on the bottom: More spiritual than practical. Lacking substance on top: More practical than spiritual.

Chakra Spin Ideally, a chakra should hold a solid, even spin. Both the front side and the back side should be coordinated and moving in the same direction. Clockwise usually indicates health, and counter-clockwise, a blockage or a misperception. A healthy spin (in the outer sphere) should appear round, even, and about one foot in diameter. However, the outer spheres of the chakras spin counter-clockwise when one is clearing or detoxifying. For women, this commonly occurs just before, during and after menstruation. It is also common during long periods of puberty and death in the family, job loss, medical surgery, major illness, or during post-traumatic stress recovery. Certain prescribed medicines and natural drugs or herbs will force the outer wheels to spin backward. In some individuals, the outer sphere of the 8th chakra always flows backward. This way, the 8th chakra continually cleanses the subtle energy bodies of waste products. Some individuals have counter-clockwise personalities, and their chakras’ outer wheels spin backward all the time. Here are ways to evaluate for spin:

5 Excerpted from Cyndi Dale’s Subtle Energies Encyclopedia

Psychic Development Course Page 103

Round, uniform, and even swing, clockwise: healthy and functioning. Round, uniform, and even swing, anti-clockwise: attempting to create health or balance by processing or clearing negative energy. Non-uniform or uneven swing, anti-clockwise: chakra is blocked and unable to clear itself. Elliptical or straight line in a vertical direction: developed but impractical spiritual views, closed to real-life perspective or unwilling to take action. Elliptical or straight line in a horizontal direction: Practical but lacking spiritual perspective, closed to the big picture of divine assistance. Elliptical or straight line, swinging to the right of the subject: oriented toward taking action and the day-to-day, known as the masculine perspective, but lacking the emotional or spiritual, known as the feminine perspective. Elliptical or straight line, swinging to the left: geared toward inspirational, feminine or intuitive influences but lacking practical, grounding action. Not moving or nearly still: indicates a closed chakra. Function is shut down. This is a good place to look for a block or a cause of a presenting issue. Large swing: Usually means very open, healthy, and functioning. If too large and imbalanced in comparison to other chakras, it means the chakra is overstrained and over-functioning. Determine which chakra this one is compensating for. Small swing: Under functioning, must be cleared and opened.

Evaluating Speed Ideally, a chakra should hold a solid, even spin, and the inner wheel should move about twice as fast but in rhythm with the other wheel. The lower the chakra, the slower both wheels should be moving. Both the front and back side ought to move in the same direction, usually clockwise from the point of view of the tested subject. Too fast indicates an anxiety-producing situation. Too slow indicates a depression situation. Anxiety is a physical as well as psychological state. It reflects the fear of the future and establishes a too-quick rhythm in the physical and subtle systems. Depression reflects an attachment to the past and creates a too- slow rhythm in the physical and subtle systems. Here are other diagnostic tips: Wheel too slow: indicates damage from previous overuse, exhaustion, fatigue, blocks, strongholds (unhealthy attachments between beliefs, or between beliefs and feelings), and probably repressed memories or feelings. Wheel too fast: indicates current overuse, overstrain, acting to compensate for a weaker chakra or chakra wheel, or a desire to escape certain life events, people, feelings, or issues. Could be an attempt to release negative energy. Outer wheel fast, inner wheel slow: lack of spiritual, emotional, intuitive, or creative drive or perspective, under-developed beliefs, feelings, or spiritual sense, over-concern with the physical, or appearance. Outer wheel slow, inner wheel fast: lacking action, commitment to follow through, physical drive, or energy; over-concern with spiritual or psychic matters, fear of moving into the world,

Psychic Development Course Page 104

exhaustion in the physical. Wheels out of synch: inner beliefs and needs do not match with outer reality or action.

Using a Pendulum for Evaluation

The easiest way to evaluate for general chakra shape, spin, and speed is to use a pendulum, which is usually a gemstone or crystal on the end of a chain, thong, string, or ribbon. When held and allowed to swing freely, a pendulum will respond to the electromagnetic frequency from a chakra, back side or front side. When holding a pendulum over the chakra area, you are primarily evaluating the outer wheel of the chakra. If the outer wheel is moving counter- clockwise, the inner wheel is probably doing the same. The inner wheel nearly always runs clockwise, unless there is an extreme crisis, including at birth and at death. The inner wheel is best analysed using your intuition. You can make a pendulum assessment of each chakra by standing over your partner/subject, and holding the pendulum about 6 inches to a foot over the centre of a chakra. Record information about shape, direction, movement, and apparent speed of the circling pendulum. No movement from the pendulum may indicate mistrust of the other person or the process, in either person, or a completely blocked chakra. Test to see if the other side of the chakra, or a chakra just above or below the problem area, is too open as compensation. To test the chakras below and above the head, as well as around the body, have the subject lie down and hold the pendulum above the appropriate sites. Healing imbalances can be done with colour, shape, sound, light, reiki, crystal healing (including with the pendulum), and other methods.

Blocked Chakras

Blocked chakras are chakras in which the upward flow of energy that usually ascends through the chakra system has become restricted or stopped, at one or more particular chakra points. Blocked chakras also restrict the entire flow of energy in the body. The entire body is a conductor of the life energy—it does not merely conduct upwards through the spine, but also into each chakra and then throughout the body. Blockage of a chakra also prevents this energy flow, in addition to blocking the upward flow of energy through the chakra system, and so a blocked chakra has a significant effect on the entire energy field of the patient. Generally, a patient will usually exhibit at least one, and often more, blocked chakras. Blocked chakras coincide with certain psychological issues - with certain existential biases that the patient has adopted in their relationship to reality. These existential biases inhibit the wider range of self-awareness and action available to the patient, restricting it to a limited range of expression. Often they are tied to the emotions, although other aspects of the being are invariably involved. The manner in which the energy in the chakra system (and the body) is similarly restricted, and cannot operate freely and effectively at certain levels, reflects the corresponding way in which the entire life process has become restricted. Because the operation of the chakras is central to the healthy functioning of the entire being - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually - it is very important to become aware of and correct any defective conditions in them. Unblocking chakras, in concert with other techniques, often provides a great deal of emotional mental or spiritual clearing for the patient, and prevents

Psychic Development Course Page 105

physical disease, too. It is very common to find blocked 4th, 5th and 6th chakras on patients. Blocked 2nd, 3rd and 7th chakras are also fairly common, while blocked 1st chakras are somewhat less common. Many patients will have one blocked chakra, and many others will have two or even more blocked chakras - a low one and a high one, for example. When two or more blocked chakras are present in a patient, it is usually indicative of more than one cause at work - different causes in different chakras - although they may have some relation to each other. Sometimes patients will exhibit a chakra that is chronically blocked, as well as another chakra or chakras that are blocked occasionally, with changes in the individual’s life. Working to unblock chakras that have become blocked can have far-reaching benefits to the patient.

Leaks and Tears

Leaks and tears of the aura are portions of the auric field where the fabric‖ of the auric field layers has become damaged—areas in which the integrity of the energy field has failed. Leaks and tears are closely related, and are treated using the same technique, yet also have important differences. Leaks generally occur on the first layer of aura, the layer closest to the physical body. They are regions of the field where the energy of the field is being slowly dissipated, instead of being retained in its normal pattern to support the health and proper functioning of the life process. Leaks may be likened to a wearing thin of the auric field. As a wearing thin of fabric allows for a loss of protection and weakening of a fabric garment, resulting in a loss of body heat, leaks of the aura reflect a weakening and loss of protection of the auric field. The loss of energy that results from leaks is detrimental to the patient, for the weak energetic condition that results inhibits the life process by sapping the strength of the life energy. Leaks are generally found over areas of the physical body that have been subject to wear, strain or physical trauma of some kind, and are often found over joints. They are a weakening of the energy field that requires strengthening. Leaks are usually found on the front of the body, for instance, the knees and shoulders are very common places to find them. They are also found near the neck, the ankles and the elbows. Tears are similar to leaks, in that they are regions where the auric field has become damaged. Tears, however, are a more severe form of damage. They can be likened to an actual tear of the field. As a tear in fabric serves to completely destroy the covering, tears in the aura are more like complete openings: they are regions of complete loss of field integrity and are harmful to the patient. Like leaks, tears can result in loss of energy, but whereas leaks are a more gradual loss of energy, tears are more serious. They also leave the patient vulnerable to outside energies. They are a loss of protection from the energy covering that the field provides, also. Tears usually exist on the lower layers of aura. They can be found on the first layer, but can sometimes also extend beyond the first layer of aura, out to the second and third layers, and even higher. Such tears almost always begin on the first layer of aura, nearest the body, and successively extend through higher layers, although in rare cases they may begin on higher layers. Tears, like leaks, are often related to stress of some kind, but tears are a more severe form of damage, and are often related to emotional, mental or spiritual stresses or past

Psychic Development Course Page 106

traumatic experiences. Some traumas are severe enough to cause tears in two, three or even more of the higher aura layers, and tears can be found on any layer of aura. Such large tears on multiple layers can result in not merely energy loss, but also in further psychic vulnerability. Tears are usually found only on the front of the body, and can be large or small. It is somewhat common to find small tears over the chakras (often the 3rd, 4th or 5th), or over the face or other portions of the body. Larger, more catastrophic tears, including ones that extend to the higher layers of the aura, can sometimes be found over various parts of the torso—the abdomen or chest area—although they can occur elsewhere, too. It is of great benefit to the patient to correct these damaged areas of the field layers.

Auric Energy Impurities

Auric energy impurities are areas of energy in the aura that are not necessary for the normal, healthy energetic functioning of the field. They are zones of undesirable stagnant energy accumulation in the aura—stultified energies that inhibit or act as blockages to the free flow of energy in the energy field. They are unhealthy energies that are not necessary for the life process of the individual, and that can contribute to further physical disease, emotional troubles and illnesses, or problems in the mental or spiritual life. They inhibit the free flow, and hence the healthy energetic functioning, of the aura. These energy impurities are often stuck to the energy field at certain locations, almost as though with static electricity. These blocks, areas or zones of static energy impurity, are often found in and just over the surface of the body, in contact with the body, yet often extend into the body itself and also out into the auric field a short distance. They are of various shapes and sizes and are associated with the lower layers of aura; they are by products associated with faulty energetic functioning of the body and are sometimes also connected with unhealthy thoughts or emotions that are being held by the patient; they are stagnant and unhealthy emotional or mental by-products that are similarly detrimental to the energetic health of the patient. Auric energy impurities are commonly found on patients. They generally appear on the front of the body -often around the head, face, neck, shoulders, chest, lower abdomen or hips. In many patients, they are found over one or more chakras - often the 4th, 7th or 2nd. It is very desirable to be able to detect, and then remove, these unhealthy and detrimental energies from the patient’s field. Removing these energies, in conjunction with the unblocking of chakras, provides a great deal of emotional and mental clearing for the patient.

Energy Depletion

Energy depletion is a weakness in the energetic operation of the energy field—it is a lack of sufficient energy to give the energy field vibrancy and to adequately support the life process of the patient, on all levels. It generally manifests as a condition of low or depleted energy on all layers of the auric field. When the strength of the life energy becomes too low, the body, emotions and mind become less integral in their operation and become more susceptible to illnesses and afflictions of various sorts. A lack of normal energy levels in the energy field results in a condition of diminished overall health in the individual. This weakened energy condition often accompanies

Psychic Development Course Page 107

serious illness—physical, emotional or mental. Even when serious illness is not yet present in a patient, energy depletion, if left untreated, will make it more likely that serious illness will eventually result. This condition of energy depletion can occur, not only in the entire energy field, but also sometimes in those portions of the field over certain bodily areas. This condition, which can sometimes be found over the lower legs or arms, is termed local energy depletion to distinguish it from the more common, and more serious, overall or global energy depletion. This local energy depletion is most commonly found in the lower legs, although it sometimes occurs in the lower arms as well. It is very desirable to correct the condition of energy depletion, when it is found, and to do so is a great contribution to the patient, especially for those patients suffering from serious illnesses.

Disturbance in Energy Flow

Disturbance in energy flow, a condition of overall irregularity in the pattern of the flow of the life energy, is a condition usually most evident on the lower layers of the aura—generally the first layer or first few layers. The energy on these lower layers, especially the first layer, flows in a set pattern—in a normal, healthy pattern—upon which the energetic and bodily health of the individual depends. Sometimes this flow of energy in the energy field becomes erratic and uneven, from various disturbances in the patient—the energy becomes disrupted from its normal paths. It exhibits an overall disharmony in its flow, potentially resulting in unhealthy consequences for the individual should this condition remain untreated. A condition of disturbance of energy flow usually occurs over the entire body region—a global disruption in the flow of energy in the lower field layer or layers. This disturbance of energy flow affects the flow of energy over the entire body, and is not tied to any chakra or any particular location in the aura. Although disturbance of energy flow usually occurs over the entire field, without being tied to any particular location, it can occur in specific local regions, also. This disturbance of energy flow in certain particular areas, often in portions of the torso, is called local disturbance in energy flow, to distinguish it from the somewhat more common global, or overall disturbance in the flow of the life energy. Although a global disturbance in energy flow is not common, it will be found on some patients. Local disturbance in energy flow is perhaps even less common. Nevertheless, when disturbances of energy flow are found they can be corrected, and it is beneficial to the energetic health of the patient to do so. This acts to prevent potential disease in the organs and tissues of the body.

General Aura Clearing

A general aura clearing technique allows us to effectively close holes in the aura. If your hands are sensitive, you can find breaks in the aura by scanning it at a distance of 10 - 20 cm from the body. These can be felt as a hole, a pit, a cold draft or other. You can work with your hands or a crystal. Take a quartz crystal wand or terminated quartz and apply longitudinal passes from top to bottom to clean the entire aura. The movements

should be not quick, start from over the top and end at the feet. After each longitudinal pass, flick the crystal over a bowl filled with salt water to properly dispose the negative energy you are removing from the aura. Do this over the entire surface of the aura. At the end of the session, wash the crystal in salt water (but not in the container which you used for the disposal of "dirty" energy). It is important to cleanse and recharge the crystal too.

Cleansing and Charging through the Elements

Swim in the sea, walk under the rain, stand in the sun or let fresh breeze cleanse you from all the sides. Imagine and feel that natural forces are cleansing you from negative energy and carrying it to the right place for disposal.

Visualizations

Golden Comb: Imagine a comb made of golden light, and mentally carefully comb your aura with it. Dispose the negatives into the Violet Flame. After the procedure, send the Violet Flame back to its place of origin. Whirlpool: Breathe and imagine yourself in a vertical whirlpool of water-like energy, flowing from the Heaven. Imagine it picks up and carries away in a spiralling motion all the negative energy. It is carried into the Universal Ocean to be dissolved there without a trace. Hole patching: Mentally inspect your aura. Locate a hole. Clean it in any manner, for example, "wash" it with luminous blue light. Imagine a needle and a thread of the right colour and patch the hole. Then fill the treated area with golden light and smoothen the area with your (energy) hands. Just as you care about the cleanliness of your physical body and clothing, it is very useful to pay attention to your subtle field, as the condition of your aura directly affects the health of your physical body and your psychological state.
