By the Sosa Family 17 de FEBRERO del 2019 SEXTO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO Página 4 From the pastor’s desk 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time – The Beatitudes When you encounter misfortune, grief, or tragic loss, how do you respond? With fear or faith? With passive resignation or with patient hope and trust in God? We know from expe- rience that no one can escape all of the inevitable trials of life - pain, suffering, sickness, and death. When Jesus began to teach his disciples he gave them a "way of happiness" that transcends every difficulty and trouble that can weigh us down with grief and despair. Jesus began his sermon on the mount by addressing the issue of where true happiness can be found. The word beatitude literally means happiness or blessedness. Jesus' way of happi- ness, however, demands a transformation from within - a conversion of heart and mind which can only come about through the gift and working of the Holy Spirit. I believe in God’s Providence… For us who have faith there should not be mere “accidents” but rather providence; last Sunday (Feb 10) the Polish celebrant (supposedly covering the 5:00PM Polish Mass for Fr. Sergiy) didn’t show up (God knows why). I have to take courage and face the situation. I told the wonderful polish community that Mass was valid for Sunday duty even if they couldn’t understand it in English; the result was and amazing experience of love and understanding, I celebrated the Mass, my homily was 3 minutes long and in English but we both enjoyed the communion in the Lord. Next weekend bulletin we will post the Ash Wednesday Mass, Ash distribution, as well as, the Stations of the Cross schedules. The Jornadas Movement will be present at the 9:00AM Mass on Saturday, February 23 to initiate a Day of Reflec- tion. Please be aware that the Mass will have special Music gear to the youth, a longer homily and Adoration

The Rite of Election will be on Sunday March 10th at Bishop Ford Hall and we have one Candidate to receive Holy Communion and Confirmation

Jesús no canoniza sencillamente a todos los pobres, los que padecen hambre, los que lloran y son perseguidos, como no demoniza simplemente a todos los ricos, los saciados, los que ríen y son aplaudidos. La distinción es más profunda; se trata de saber sobre qué cosa uno fundamenta su propia seguridad, sobre qué terreno está construyendo el edificio de su vida: si sobre aquél que pasa o sobre aquél que no pasa. Creo en la Providencia de Dios… En la última reunión de Consejo Pastoral hablamos de la necesidad de establecer contacto más directo con 2 de las 5 comunidades de nuestra Parroquia, i.e. los indios y los polacos. Por providencia de Dios, el sacerdote que hubie- ra celebrado la Misa de 5:00 PM el domingo pasado (10 de febrero) no llegó. Por supuesto que, al celebrarles yo la Misa en inglés, y aunque con algunas dificultades, pude sentir que estamos en lo mismo; la misión es más impor- tante que un idioma…me alegro mucho poder compartir esa Misa…y ellos apreciaron el esfuerzo. El próximo boletín les traerá los horarios de Misas y distribución de Cenizas de este Miércoles de Ceniza (6 de marzo), también se proporcionara el horario y días de las Estaciones de la Cruz.

El 23 de febrero el Grupo Jornadas de Vida, asumirá la Misa de 9:00AM para iniciar una jornada espiri- tual; el celebrante será el Padre. James Kuroly (Director del Movimiento de Jornada Diocesano). Luego continuará en el salón parroquial hasta las 4:00PM. Todos los jóvenes están invitados a compartir.

El Rito de Elección será el domingo 10 de marzo en el auditorio de la Escuela Bishop Ford. Solo tenemos un Candidato para los Sacramentos de la Eucaristía y la Confirmación, Luis Ramirez Popoca. Oremos por sus intenciones.
