CNDM | UNIVERSO BARROCO LES ARTS FLORISSANTS 19/20 SANDRINE PIAU, soprano Una figura reconocida en el mundo de la música barroca, la soprano francesa Sandrine Piau actúa habitualmente con célebres directores como William Christie, Philippe Herreweghe, Christophe Rousset, Gustav Leonhardt, Ivor Bolton, Ton Koopman, René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski y Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Ha alcanzado el reconocimiento internacional con sus actuaciones como Cléopatra (Giulio Cesare) y Morgana (Alcina) en la Ópera de París; Alcina, Mélisande, Sandrina, (La Finta Giardiniera) y Constance (Dialogue des Carmélites) en La Monnaie de Bruselas; Alcina y Dalinda (Ariodante) en Ámsterdam; Pamina (La Flauta Mágica), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) y Constance en el Théâtre des Champs- Elysées; Despina (Così fan tutte) y Titiana (El sueño de una noche de verano) en el Festival d’Aix-en- Provence. En concierto, ha cantado L'Enfant et les sortilèges (Chung y Dutoit / Boston Symphony), La Creación (Harding), Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher (Masur / Berlín), El sueño de una noche de verano (Herreweghe), la Gran Misa en Do menor (Bolton / Festival de Salzburgo) e Illuminations (Wigmore Hall). En recital, ha cantado junto a los pianistas Alexandre Tharaud, Georges Pludermacher, Myung-Whun Chung y Jos van Immerseel, con quienes grabó las Melodías de Debussy. Sandrine Piau ya ha dedicado cuatro discos a Haendel y Mozart, y ha grabado dos álbumes de recitales, Après un rêve y Évocations con Susan Manoff, una artista con la que ha tocado a menudo en recital (Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, una gira por Estados Unidos y Japón). Su último trabajo, Heroínas desesperadas, grabado con la Orquesta del Mozarteum de Salzburgo e Ivor Bolton, ha recibido muy buenas críticas. Actualmente Sandrine Piau graba en exclusiva para Alpha Classics. Su primer álbum en solitario con este sello, Chimère, ha recibido numerosos premios como Choc de Classica y Diapason d’or, entre otros. Los proyectos futuros incluyen Dialogue des Carmélites en Bolonia y París, así como conciertos en giras europeas. Sandrine Piau recibió el título de Caballero de la Orden de las Artes y las Letras en 2006 y fue nombrada "Artista lírica del año" en la ceremonia de entrega de Premios Victoires de la Musique Classique en 2009. Brochure De La Saison 2021-2022
Les Talens Lyriques Les Talens Lyriques ont 30 ans ! ui, nous célébrerons cet anniversaire coûte que coûte. O Quelle longévité ! Je ne l’aurais moi-même jamais espé- rée. Comment m’imaginer diriger tant d’opéras, italiens et français, comment imaginer Les Talens à l’opéra de Sydney, de Versailles ou de Drottningholm, comment aurais-je pu me voir diriger du Berlioz, du Verdi, du Gounod ? Ma grande satisfaction est d’avoir tenu ma ligne entre la France et l’Italie, d’avoir pu éviter l’effet pour l’effet, d’avoir pris des risques avec les trompettistes mais aussi les cornistes et autres aventuriers du baroque pour retrouver les techniques et les sonorités « justes ». Je ne rougis d’aucune eau dans le vin que je respecte trop pour l’édulcorer. Cette saison marquera aussi nos 15 ans d’actions pédagogiques dans les écoles et les collèges. Aujourd’hui, les partenariats se transforment et se multiplient, de nou- veaux projets se développent dans ce souci de transmis- sion qui m’est si cher. Bien sûr, tous ces accomplissements ne seraient pos- sibles sans l’aide de nos partenaires qui nous soutiennent fidèlement depuis de nombreuses années. Sans eux, Les Talens Lyriques n’auraient pu mener à bien tous ces beaux projets. Qu’ils en soient ici très chaleureusement remerciés. Et merci à vous cher public pour votre présence pas- sionnée à nos côtés depuis toutes ces années. Vous me manquez, et j’ai hâte de vous retrouver ! Et maintenant : que la fête commence ! Cette saison justement rassemble ce qui est le cœur de notre vocation : 3 beaucoup d’opéras, surtout méconnus ; de la musique de chambre (car le claveciniste que je suis tient à rester aussi chambriste) ; des récitals de jeunes chanteurs (car découvrir de nouveaux talents est aussi notre marque de fabrique) ; et des incursions dans le romantisme.

Jérôme Correas & les Paladins saison 2012-2013 Dossier de presse Saison 2012 - 2013 Après deux ans passés en compagnie de la Poppée de Monteverdi, je n’ai pu m’empêcher de chercher à prolonger une expérience exceptionnelle avec un metteur en scène et une aventure unique pour une équipe musicale. C’est ainsi qu’est né le projet de monter Le Retour d’Ulysse. Cette saison 2012-2013 va nous permettre, à travers ce deuxième volet de collaboration avec Christophe Rauck, d’approfondir un travail de compagnonnage, de développer des recherches musicales spécifiques aux Paladins, et d’investir une œuvre tout au long de 25 représentations sur une durée de 5 mois . Loin de l’atmosphère décadente et sensuelle du Couronnement de Poppée, Le Retour d’Ulysse va nous entraîner dans un monde noir, primitif et violent, où hommes et dieux sont ballottés sans cesse entre liberté et fatalité. Le travail que je poursuis depuis quelques années avec Les Paladins sur l’opéra du XVIIème siècle a marqué durablement ma conception de la musique. Cette recherche sur le parlé-chanté , sur la souplesse rythmique et le rubato permettent de considérer différemment d’autres styles également liés au monde du théâtre. Avec le projet Molière à l’opéra, nous visiterons le répertoire issu de la collaboration entre Molière et Lully , à travers les scènes musicales les plus désopilantes de leurs œuvres communes. L’extravagance italienne se fait constamment sentir dans les premières œuvres d’un compositeur lui-même acteur, volant parfois la vedette à son ami et rival. Après la sortie chez Naive de l’album Le triomphe de l’amour, avec la soprano Sandrine Piau, nous nous sommes tournés vers le monde des ténèbres, chez les compositeurs moins connus que Couperin et Charpentier.

2016 – 2017 season marks Les Talens Lyriques’ 25th anniversary Operas by Purcell, Cavalli, Charpentier, Salieri, Mozart, Handel & Monteverdi Culminating in his debut at London’s Royal Opera House for Mozart’s Mitridate in June next year, Christophe Rousset embarks on a rich season of opera with Les Talens Lyriques - from Purcell, Cavalli, Handel, Monteverdi and Mozart to forgotten masterpieces by Charpentier, Salieri and Pergolesi, to mark their 25th anniversary. From Israel to Italy, Spain to Lithuania, Rousset’s infectious enthusiasm for the baroque is in high demand. With Les Talens Lyriques at the Theater an der Wien, Rousset presents the modern premiere of Salieri’s Les Horaces in concert in October (also Versailles) and a new production of Purcell’s Fairy Queen by Mariame Clément in January. Further new productions include Pergolesi’s San Guglielmo d’Aquitania by Francesco Nappa in Iesi, Italy, Mozart’s Magic Flute in Dijon in a direction by David Lescot and Cavalli’s Calisto in Strasburg directed by Mariame Clement, following their success in Rameau’s Platée and Castor & Pollux six years ago. The revival of Pierre Audi’s Monteverdi Madrigals in Amsterdam continues to Brighton Festival as part of Les Talens Lyriques’ multiple visits to the UK this season. The season opens with an Italian tour to Pergolesi’s birthplace in Jesi for a new production of his oratorio San Guglielmo, Duca d’Aquitania, a quasi-opera replete with comic monk to be staged by Francesco Nappa on 9 and 11 September. NEWSLETTER of The American Handel Society Volume XVI, Number 1 April 2001 HANDEL’S SCIPIONE AND THE NEUTRALIZATION OF POLITICS1 This is an essay about possibilities, an observation of what Handel and his librettist wrote rather than what was finally performed. Handel composed his opera Scipione in 1726 for a text by Paolo Rolli, who adapted a libretto by Antonio Salvi written for a Medici performance in Livorno in 1704.2 Handel’s and Rolli’s version was performed at the King’s Theater in the Haymarket for the Royal Academy of Music.3 The opera has suffered in critical esteem not so much from its own failings as from its proximity in time to the great productions of Giulio Cesare, Tamerlano and Rodelinda which preceeded it. I would like to argue, however, that even in this opera Handel and Rolli were working on an interesting idea: a presentation of Roman historical material in ways that anticipated the ethical discussions that we now associate with the oratorios. If that potential was undermined by what was finally put on stage, it is nevertheless interesting to observe what might have been. Narrative material from the Roman republic was potentially difficult on the English stage of the early eighteenth century. The conquering heroes of the late Roman republic particularly—Sulla, Pompey, and especially Caesar—might most easily be associated with the monarch; but these historical figures were also tainted by the fact that they could be identified as tyrants responsible for demolishing republican freedom. Addison’s Cato had caused a virtual riot in the theatre in 1713, as Whigs and Tories vied to distance themselves from the (unseen) villain Caesar and claim the play’s stoic hero Cato as their own.

Jérôme Correas
Jérôme Correas Jérôme Correas débute l’étude du piano dès l’âge de cinq ans puis très vite se passionne pour le clavecin. Il devient l’élève du grand claveciniste et musicologue Antoine Geoffroy-Dechaume dont l’enseignement, basé sur l’improvisation et la souplesse rythmique, l’influence durablement. Très attiré par la période baroque sous toutes ses formes d’expression, Jérôme Correas obtient ensuite une licence d’histoire puis une licence d’histoire de l’art à Paris IV Sorbonne. Sa curiosité pour le chant l’amène à se présenter au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris où il obtient un Premier Prix d’Art lyrique dans la classe de Xavier Depraz, et de chant baroque dans celle de William Christie. Remarqué par ce dernier, il débute au festival d’Aix-en-Provence sous sa direction dans The Fairy Queen de Purcell et devient membre des Arts Florissants de 1988 à 1993, participant à de nombreuses tournées de concerts, opéras et enregistrements : Atys de Lully, Castor et Pollux, Les Indes Galantes de Rameau, Didon et Enée, The Fairy Queen de Purcell, Orfeo de Rossi … Jérôme Correas diversifie ses goûts et ses activités en suivant pendant un an l’enseignement de René Jacobs au Studio Versailles Opéra, puis entre à l’école de chant de l’Opéra de Paris sur la recommandation de Régine Crespin, entre 1991 et 1993. Mozart’s music is magic. Insula orchestra takes the statement literally, offering a selection of works and musical extracts in which the wonderment of magical experience is a central theme. Known by the music lovers as well as by the general public, these poetic or comical melodies, duos and ensembles are performed in a succession of short, diverting and enchanting acts. The Magic Flute, Mozart’s last opera, composed in 1791, is of course the cornerstone, with its magic bells, bewitched animals and Queen of the Night. But we will also find there some characters from the Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, La Finta semplice, Bastien und Bastienne, or from the more unusual Der Stein der Weisen (The Philosopher’s Stone), a Singspiel written by four authors among whom Mozart and the librettist of The Magic Flute, Emanuel Schikaneder. Three dominant colours are at work in these Magic Mozart sketches: the benevolence and transparency of white magic; the tumultuous emotions of love, expressing red magic in arias like “Voi che sapete” and “Porgi amor”; and black magic, driven by vengeance and symbolized by the Queen of the Night’s aria, “Der Hölle Rache”.
