Press Release JANUARY 23, 2018 Renault to run four Group 2 Renault 5 Alpine on the 2018 Rallye MonteCarlo Historique A field of four Group 2 Renault 5 Alpine to contest the 2018 Rallye MonteCarlo Historique The four Renault Classic crews will start in Reims, France, on February 2. The event finishes in Monaco on February 7 Paris, January 23, 2018 Renault is pleased to announce that it will take part in the 2018 Rallye MonteCarlo Historique with a lineup of four Group 2 Renault 5 Alpine: Car 5: Guy Fréquelin / Laurent Perquin Car 6: Emmanuel Guigou / Michel Duvernay Car 7: Christian Chambord / Patrick Fourestié Car 8: Patrick Henry / JeanPierre Prévot Former French Renault works driver Jean Ragnotti will follow the rally as an ambassador for the brand until the morning of February 6. Success for the ‘skateboard’! Despite its modest power output, the Group 2 Renault 5 Alpine frequently topped its class from 1978 to 1980 and secured several strong results on rounds of the World Rally Championship. In 1978, Renault Sport took the bold decision to defend its colours in rallying with the diminutive frontwheel drive Renault 5 Alpine. The 1978 Rallye MonteCarlo saw Jean Ragnotti steer the hot hatch to second overall and Group 2 victory, while Guy Fréquelin came third overall on the same event. It was this doublepodium which led to the car being referred to fondly as the ‘skateboard’. Its successful career continued the following season with second place on the Tour de Corse and the Renault 5 Alpine ultimately bowed out in style after winning the 1980 French Rally Championship in the hands of Jean Ragnotti and codriver JeanMarc Andrié. -

A Multiple Winner in Historic Racing from 1978 BRM P25 Chassis Number: 255/R
! A Multiple Winner in Historic Racing from 1978 BRM P25 Chassis Number: 255/R • Officially backed by BRM and parent company Rubery Owen, the reconstruction of BRM’s iconic P25 front engine Grand Prix car was started in the 1960s, some time before those made by Tom Wheatcroft. • Built using a combination of original parts and parts supplied by BRM, with chassis work and assembly by the original BRM staff in Bourne, the home of BRM. • Raced with many victories in historic racing from 1978, and winner of the 1980 French Grand Prix support race which led to the formation of the HGPCA. • Maintained by BRM experts Hall & Hall and fitted with a new Hall & Hall BRM 2.5 litre engine, producing a very impressive 285hp. • A very competitive, and in the right hands potentially race winning, front engined Grand Prix car with eligibility for the HGPCA and Goodwood. Arguably the fastest of the front-engined Grand Prix cars. Few names in Formula 1 history evoke the same feeling of history, nostalgia and excitement as BRM. The brainchild of two men, Raymond Mays and Peter Berthon, British Racing Motors or BRM became what was effectively seen as the British national Formula 1 outfit in the post-War era. BRM arrived on the Grand Prix scene with one of the most ambitious Grand Prix car designs of all time. As the dust settled in 1947, Mays and Berthon planned to build an outstanding Grand Prix machine to take on the likes of Alfa Romeo and Mercedes-Benz. This resulted in what was to be a highly advanced design and extensive engineering exercise. -
Alpine F1 Team Launches “Prost in the Paddock”, the First Podcast Series Dedicated to Alain Prost
8 July 2021 – Viry-Châtillon Alpine F1 Team launches “Prost in the Paddock”, the first podcast series dedicated to Alain Prost Alpine F1 Team is pleased to announce the launch of its brand-new "Prost in the Paddock" podcast series on 14 July, Bastille Day, the French national holiday. In this audio series, Alain Prost, the only French Formula 1 World Champion and national hero, speaks candidly and with sincerity about his career and his role in the world of F1, the evolution of the sport's top-tier category, F1’s new rules and regulations, and offers his opinions about the new generation of drivers as never heard before. Four episodes with four themes Alpine F1 Team speaks with the celebrated four-time world champion to provide listeners with rare and never-been-heard-before anecdotes. Four episodes in English have been produced in which he shares his thoughts about career choices, rivalries, performance, a look at the evolution of the sport and the human side. The Alpine team non-executive Director does not shy away from any subject: "I wanted to become a footballer. I wasn't at all interested in motorsport. But my brother was. I remember my first kart race. We went to Cannes on his initiative, and immediately I was hooked. Whether it was my first race in Formula 1 or even my first victory at Dijon, the feeling was the same as when I started karting. In a way, it was a new beginning. Even when I became World Champion in 1985, I thought, ok, I did it, but after, I could only think of one thing, to do it again regardless of how good my car was or my position on the grid. -
By Fred Bent, Clerk of the Course
RECCE REPORT By Fred Bent, Clerk of the Course Rally Round's 2018 Paris-Amsterdam Rally will be a celebration of two great motoring anniversaries - of the first long-distance journey by motor car in 1888, and of the first international motor race just 10 years later. In planning the six-day rally route through France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands, I have sought to combine entertaining and traffic-free roads, challenging regularity sections, several iconic motorsport venues and many other points of scenic, historic and cultural interest, not to mention lovely refreshment and lunch stops and the very best hotels. It's amazing how much you can pack into each day on the road, even allowing for a relaxed schedule (appropriate for cars of all ages) and plenty of time for socialising. Having published a provisional itinerary in the event brochure, we embarked on a detailed route recce in August 2017, checking every aspect of the event, confirming venue details and writing a comprehensive roadbook. I have made a few minor improvements to the route outlined in the brochure, allowing more time to explore interesting places and steering clear of potential traffic hotspots wherever possible. I'm pleased with the result, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you haven't already done so you can reserve your place or obtain answers to any questions you might have by calling the Rally Office on +44 (0)1252 794100 or sending an email to [email protected]. You'll also find more details, a copy of the brochure including supplementary regulations and an online enquiry button on the Paris- Amsterdam page of our website - go to www.rallyround.co.uk.
