The past year was a year of learning for me. I worked on learning about the John & Joan Nicholas Ed & Lynette Rhodes wonderful library staff, the excellent library collections, and the flourishing Stephen & Sara Nick John & Alice Ridge and fascinating city of Eau Claire. I had the opportunity to visit many places in the Chippewa Valley and Northwestern Wisconsin which were completely Gene & Laura Nicolet Yuri & Natalia Ripeckyj new to me. Timothy & Martha Nieman Bob & Jodi Ritsch Dirk & Clara Nohre Sandy Robbers At the same time, it was a year of continuity for the Library. Library programs Charles & Helen Nordstrom Tim Robertson covered a wide range of topics and continued to attract large audiences. Northstar Middle School Mary Rosolack Some of the program topics included gardening (to start off the spring right), Northwest Pathways to Rotary Club poetry, travel programs, Shakespeare, and music. The Library continued to actively participate in the Chippewa Valley Book Festival. The annual Independence, Inc. Royal Credit Union summer concert attracted a large crowd to the library lawn. All of Eau Claire William & Pamela Ogden Tom & Susan Rusboldt participated in The , sponsored by the National Endowment for Michael & Martha O’Halloran S & C Bank the Arts. The kickoff and several additional events were at the Library as Dean & Sue Olson R. W. Scobie, Inc. we talked about Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 during the month of April. James & Margaret Olson Tracey & Tim Samuelson The Youth Services Summer Reading Program had record participation and drew hoardes of young people to the library during their school break. Mark & Melanie Orendorff Philip Pabich Technology constantly changes and is critical to any public library in the David & Joyce Pantzlaff 21st century. Behind the scenes, the Library connected to the City’s shared Papa John’s Pizza Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system for telephone service. Library Larry & Marie Past staff also deployed wireless Internet access throughout the library building, Sue & Doug Pearson allowing you to bring your WiFi-enabled laptop to the library and enjoy Internet access. The Library also launched a new and improved web Thomas Pearson presence. This included acquiring a new web address: www.ecpubliclibrary. Kathryn Peavey info. The new site is much more accessible to those using screen readers, Donovan & Patricia Pederson such as our blind library users. The Wisconsin Library Association PEO Sisterhood Chapter CH recognized the accessible games portion of the site with an award at its Mike Perry annual conference. Ted & Karen Peters Other changes included the decision to increase the loan period for DVDs James Phillips 2007 Big Read Book Delivery with longer running times. This means that you can borrow a full season John & Aracely Pollitz of many television series and have enough time to watch all the episodes. John & Christine Poppe Library staff are also constantly shifting materials in the building to make The Post House Paul & Peggy Savides room for the growing collection in a building which is not increasing in Premium Waters Jeff & Stephanie Schemberger size. E. Milo & Carolyn Pritchett Sylvia Schilling We continue to be good stewards of the tax dollars entrusted to us. The Judy Proett Jean & Milton Schimke Library ended the year with a positive fund balance, meaning that we did Prudential Foundation Norm & Joan Schnagl not overspend the adopted budget.
