Where Can We Go for Food?

This year we are providing breakfast and lunch to all participants on Saturday and Sunday. Different tournaments will be served food in different locations as outlined in this document. We are not providing food on Monday or for dinner on any day.

Public Forum [Cambridge Rindge & Latin School and surrounding buildings] Tournament food for breakfast and lunch will be served in the main cafeteria of CRLS. Additionally, there are several restaurants across the street from CRLS on both Broadway Street and Cambridge Street. No food or drink is to be consumed in any of the classrooms in CRLS or Harvard buildings. Please confine food consumption to the CRLS cafeteria. Coaches and judges are invited to come to the lounge in the media cafeteria on the first floor of the Rindge building, where you can enjoy complementary coffee, continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

Speech [Science Center/Science Buildings/Harvard Yard] The Speech tournament is headquartered in the Science Center. Tournament food for breakfast and lunch will be served in the foyer on the first floor of the Science Center for all events except extemporaneous speaking. Food for extemp competitors will be served in the Northwest Labs basement. The Science Center and Harvard Yard are also close to the Broadway Supermarket as well as many commercial establishments in Harvard Square. No food or beverages other than water may be sold, served or consumed in any of the Harvard buildings used by the tournament, except for the Science Center. Coaches and judges are invited to the lounge in CRLS in the Media Cafeteria for complementary coffee, continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

LD [King/Putnam Schools – 102 Putnam Ave, Cambridge, MA.] The LD tournament is located at the King/Putnam Schools. Tournament food for breakfast and lunch will be served in the main cafeteria of the King School on the ground floor. There are many restaurants located to the left of the school on Putnam Ave. Petsi Pies – a local coffee and sandwich shop is a 2-minute walk. Massachusetts Ave. is a five-minute walk. There are many restaurants at the corner of Mass Ave and Putnam in both directions. If you turn left on Mass. Ave. you are two minutes away from Harvard Yard. Basta Pasta is about a five-minute walk down Putnam Ave. to the right of the schools at the intersection of Putnam and Western Ave. Please confine food consumption to the King School cafeteria. Coaches and judges are invited to come to the lounge on the ground floor through the door marked “Winter”, around the corner from the cafeteria.

The Congress Tournament [Porter Square, Hilles, Science Center & Harvard Yard] The sessions on Saturday will be held either at University Hall in Porter Square or at the Student Organization Center at Hilles (SOCH). Breakfast and lunch on both days will be catered at the location of your sessions – either University Hall or SOCH. The catered breakfast and lunch at University Hall and Hilles is for the students and the judges only. Parents and other observers are welcome to come to the Science Center for meals, but please do not take the food at University Hall and Hilles which then leaves the student competitors without. University Hall shares a building with several restaurants. Additionally, many restaurants are located across the street. Coaches and Judges are welcome to come to the coaches’ lounge at CRLS. No food or drinks are allowed in the Lesley University or Harvard University classrooms.
