RAHK is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 13th October 1999 and is also a registered charitable institution under the lnlend Revenue Ordinance. Our rationale is to co-ordinate all categories of disabled people to fight for "Full Participation and Equal Opportunity" in social affairs. At present, different rehabilitation organizations focus on providing services to a particular type of disabled people. However, in our opinion, it is only through co-ordinating all categories of people with disabilities, the goal of influencing rehabilitation policies can be achieved. Therefore, RAHK not only concerns the general rehabilitation services and policies, but also actively participates in issues that both directly and indirectly affecting disabled people. Our members consist of all categories of disabled people, including people with hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical handicap, developmental disabilities, chronic illness and the discharged mental patients, etc. Our rationale is to advocate and encourage disabled people to fight for “Full Participation and Equal Opportunity in society”. To achieve our rationale, we aim at attaining the following specific objectives: 1. To facilitate the exchange of ideas, knowledge, skills and experience among rehabilitation experts, as well as to spread information and message on rehabilitation through RAHK as an agent. 2. To fight for the rights of disabled people and concern local rehabilitation policies and related policies, by organizing public programmes, conferences, seminars, forums, press conferences, etc. 3. To conduct public education on equal rights of disabled people. 4. To monitor and evaluate rehabilitation services and policies, planning and legislations, etc. 5. To encourage and conduct researches that can achieve RAHK’s rationale. 6. To cooperate with other organizations so as to achieve our rationale. 7. To maintain liaison with overseas organizations having the common rationale of the RAHK. 30 !"# OMMPJOMMQ Rehabilitation Alliance Hong Kong 2003-2004 Annual Report Honourary President : Prof. Harry S.
