Olympic Movement Sports Discipline and Codes Olympic Movement Sports Discipline and Codes Produced by: • IOC - International Olympic Committee Château de Vidy, 1007 Lausanne, Switzerland Release 4 Version 1.8 8 March 2019 Approved Release 4 Version 1.8 – 8 March 2019 1 Introduction The IOC identified the need to normalise the codification of the sport disciplines. The need for such a normalisation is identified by: • IOC Technology to keep all the historical result databases coherent (JORES database), • the ORIS Project where this will help the electronic data exchange between the Games organisers, International Sport Federations, National Olympic Committees, Continental organisations, the Olympic Data Feed (ODF) recipients and the IOC, • the International Sport Federations for easier identification and archiving, • Constituent groups of stakeholders receiving, processing and presenting Games data to global audiences, such as the World News Press Agencies (WNPA) and broadcasters, to use it as reference in developing and setting up their systems and software • Continental Organisations • Other multisport event’s organisers who intend to use data feeds compatible to the Olympic Games data feed platform. • A discipline is a branch of an Olympic sport comprising one or several events. Release 4 Version 1.8 – 8 March 2019 2 Sport Discipline Codes A discipline groups similar events (ex. Aquatics is divided into swimming, synchronised swimming, diving, open water and water polo, canoe-kayak is divided into sprint and slalom events, etc.). Often, these divisions are related to the organisation of the International Federation though they may differ. In defining these codes they must be unique between summer, winter and the Paralympics though the Paralympics may use the code where the discipline is the same. 2.1 Summer By Code By Sport Discipline Together with its development and spreading its importance grows as well. However previously conducted research on floorball from its managerial point of view is rare, especially on an international scale. The present investigation makes an attempt to fill this gap in a holistic manner. It explores the research problem of finding the potentials of floorball as a sustainably successful sport – worldwide and in the case country, Bulgaria. For this purpose the study utilizes the tasks of collecting and systematizing existing relevant data, binding floorball to theoretical frameworks of contemporary science and observing its development level and current issues globally and locally. The research uses a qualitative, ethnographic approach to obtain its goals, and includes participant observation, unstructured and semi-structured interviews. Data is analysed through a combination of qualitative analysis tools – thematic analysis, discourse analysis, content analysis, visual data analysis, etc. The primary data has been gathered in Finland, as well as in Bulgaria and consists of observation of key events and interaction with key informants.

  • 2021 Guide to Gymnastics Team
At Spokane Gymnastics, the coaches focus on encouraging the development of strength, skill and character through gymnastics training in a positive environment. We strive to offer a program where every student has the greatest opportunity to succeed, no matter what their level or goal. We strive to balance teaching proper gymnastics skills, terminology and progressions in a fun environment where students are taught by breaking down the elements of the particular skills, hands- on “spotting” and training, low student-to-coach ratios and positive reinforcement. We believe that gymnastics is not only one of the most rewarding sports with unlimited benefits to other activities, but also FUN! Gymnastics not only increases strength, flexibility and balance, it is also encourages hard work, discipline and determination. Women's Artistic Gymnastics There are four events in Women's Artistic Gymnastics – Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. Although most sports have seasons, gymnastics is a year-round commitment for athletes at the upper levels. Vault A successful vault begins with a strong, accelerated run. The best vaulters explode off the springboard with tremendous quickness during the pre-flight phase of the vault. When the gymnast pushes off of the vault table (also informally referred to as the horse) judges look for proper body position and instantaneous propulsion and explosive force. They watch the height and distance traveled as well as the number of flips and twists. Gymnasts strive to stick their landing by taking no extra steps. Uneven Bars Many consider the uneven bars the most spectacular of women's events, since to be successful the gymnasts must display strength as well as concentration, courage, coordination and split-second timing.
