This is a literature study on thought that develop within related to NU bodies with Islamic cosmopolitanism discourse for interact and absorb of various element manifestation cultural and insight scientist as a part from discourse of modernism. This study put any number figures of NU as subject. The results of the study show that elements thought from figure of NU, like Gusdur which includes effort eliminate ethnicity, strength plurality culture, inclusive, liberal, heterogeneity politics, and life eclectic religion, has been trigger for the birth of the modernism of thought in the body of NU. It caused change of religious thought from textual to contextual, born in freedom of thinking atmosphere. Keywords: Nahdhatul Ulama, traditionalist, modernist, thought, organization Introduction The dynamic of Islamic thought that continues to develop within the NU organization in the present context, it is difficult to say that NU is still traditional, especially in the area of religious thought. This can be seen in the concept of inclusivism, cosmopolitanism, and even liberalism developed by NU figures such as Abdurrahman Wahid, Achmad Siddiq, and some young NU figures, such as Ulil Absar Abdalla. This shows a manifestation of modern thought. Critical thinking as a feature of modernism seems to have become the consumption of NU activists today. Therefore, a new term emerged among those called "re- interpretation of ahlussunah-waljamaah" and the re-interpretation of the concept of "bermazhab" or sect.

  • Matrilineal Inheritance and Migration in a Minangkabau Community R. J
M atrilineal Inheritance and M igration in a M inangkabau Community R. J. Chadwick Minangkabau and Marantau The matrilineal and uxorilocal Minangkabau population of West Sumatra is composed of about five hundred self-contained communities called nagari. These communities are geographically discrete, largely endogamous, and formerly self-governing.1 Each nagari has a specific ecological and economic adaptation according to its situation at home2 and pro duces a specific adaptation to city life among its very large emigre population. Migration from one's home nagari to another area is called marantau. Marantau is an ancient trend among the Minangkabau,3 is intrinsic to immemorial social process, and is functionally implicated in the social structure of villages in the homeland. But even in the 1 During my first fieldwork in Minangkabau, Koto Anu, the community I researched, did not constitute an ad ministrative unit in its own right. Together with a distant neighbor, the nagari Koto Apo, it was one part of an artificially created administrative unit, the kenegarian of Kaduo Koto (the two settlements). Under Dutch rule, it constituted one of the six communities in a different administrative unit, the lareh of Anam Koto (six settle ments). Neither lareh nor kenegarian were perceived as having any sociological relevance for Koto Anu people. (Like Koto Anu, the names Koto Apo, Kaduo Koto, and Anam Koto are pseudonyms.) The Village Law of 1979 (see Tsuyoshi Kato, "Different Fields, Similar Locusts: Adat Communities and The Village Law of 1979 in Indo nesia" Indonesia 20:89-114) constituted Koto Anu as a minimal administrative unit (desa) for the first time in liv ing memory and thus redressed the situation for Koto Anu people, at least.

Developing a Researcher Identity: Commonplace Books as Arts-Informed Reflective Process Abstract This article shares the processes of five emerging researchers as they trace their journeys in becoming researchers and examine their identities through the qualitative, arts-informed method of “commonplace book” creation. It positions commonplace books as “living document” that explore the ongoing processes of identity development we experience as novice scholars in the field of education. Using this article, we extend our artistic processes, inviting readers to join the conversation and reflect on why and how they engage in academic work, as well as the potential this method has for reflection, meaning-making and dissemination.

Manado State Polytechnic, Indonesia 2Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Padang State University, Indonesia Corresponding Author: [email protected] ARTICLE INFO ABSTRACT Received This study aims to analyze the sport tourism event of Tour de 3 December 2019 Singkarak (TdS) related to tourist destination management in West Accepted Sumatera, Indonesia. The TdS is an international road bicycle race 15 February 2020 held annually for ten-year period as data presented from 2009 to 2018. Available online Data were collected for this study through in-depth interviews with 31 March 2020 informants and analyzed by a descriptive qualitative technique. The results showed that the TdS events were succesfully and consistently held annually for ten-year period of 2009-2018 in West Sumatera and has significantly contributed to the regionas tourism destination. This was due to a strong commitment and serious action among central government and local government at province and municipality levels for the sport tourism development at the tourism destination in West Sumatera. The commitment could be seen in the serious, strong commitment and coordination between the Ministry of Tourism and the National Road Development Agency at a central government and Heads of Local Departments of Tourism, of Public Works and of Transportation at province and regency/municipality level. The commitment could be seen from the sport tourism management such as the provision of shared budget, event coordination, and destination and infrastructure development and promotion.

Talib1 and Willy R. Paksi1 1IAGI Riau Chapter. 2Institut Teknologi Bandung. Corresponding author: [email protected] ABSTRACT Paleogene synrift fluvio-lacustrine rocks in western Indonesian basins are viable and prolific petroleum plays. However, due to active tectonics and confined environment, reservoir distribution and geometry of these Paleogene rocks are highly complex. In order to better understand and identify stratigraphic relationships and facies geometries in Paleogene synrift reservoirs, a field study on analogous modern alluvial-fan and axial-fluvial deltas in Lake Singkarak has been performed by investigating data from various elements of the depositional system. The results of this study illustrate how an integration of grain texture, faunal analysis, depositional facies, and stratigraphic stacking patterns in a modern depositional environment can characterize the complexity of reservoir geometry, reservoir quality and their distribution, both laterally and vertically. This study focuses on modern sediment of Sumpur axial-fluvial delta and Malalo alluvial fan delta in the northern part of Lake Singkarak, West Sumatra Province. Seven depositional facies were recognized in the Sumpur axial-fluvial delta including fluvial, upper and lower distributary channel, subaqueous distributary channel, mouth bar, shoreline, and abandoned delta. From a sand quality and facies geometry perspective, the lower distributary channel, subaqueous distributary channel and mouth bar facies are associated with the most favourable reservoir potential.
