• Camonica Valley Over 100 km long, the Camonica Valley is wedged between the Adamello mountain range and the western Orobic Alps. Inhabited for over ten thousand years, as evidenced by the largest concentration of rock carvings in Europe, the valley is rich in artwork from through the ages, commissioned by both the church and private individuals. There are numerous churches of all periods starting from the Romanesque period (XII century): over two hundred noteworthy monuments have been catalogued. The sides of the Camonica Valley are studded with bastions and castles, while the old hamlets have many stately residences, evidence of a time when this valley was a rich and thriving area thanks to its production activity and trade with for the Venetian Republic. Drop-forges, mills, melting furnaces, waterworks, and mines still bear witness to the hard work of the Camonica Valley inhabitants throughout history, hard work that still goes on today in the many artisan businesses that have sprung up all along the valley bottom. As soon as you leave the banks of the River and hike up the forested valley sides, or venture into the side valleys rising up to the perennial snow of the glaciers, nature becomes the undisputed king of this fortunate valley in the heart of the Alps. There are plentiful flora and fauna and myriad streams, which, aided by a vast system of lakes and basins, provide the water power needed to run the many hydroelectric power plants built in the area. - 5 - • Adamello Park

Adamello Park lies in the Rhaetian Alps, a section of the Central Alps, and stretches over the entire Lombard side of the Adamello range in the northeastern part of the province of . The park extends from Tonale Pass to Crocedomini Pass, over an area of 510 km2. On the east side, it is bounded by the border between Lombardy and , while on the west the boundary runs just above the left bank of the river Oglio, the fifth longest river in Italy. Adamello Park is also very important due to its unique position. It bridges two neighboring parks: Trentino Adamello-Brentan Park on its eastern boundary and Stelvio Park to the north. The latter, in turn, borders on still another important park, the Swiss Engadina National Park. Thus, at the very heart of Europe, a 2,500-km2 protected area was created, the largest in the Alps and one of the most fascinating and enchanting spaces in the entire Alpine range. Adamello Park occupies the southern section of this greater park area. http://www.parcoadamello.it

- 6 - • Adamello Trail 1 One the most beautiful in the Alps, this seven-day itinerary at elevations above 2,000 m, crosses the entire Adamello Park, in a south to north direction, following 80-year-old communication pathways along the World War I battle lines. During the trek you will travel from the limestone/dolomite areas of the southern part of the park, to the areas where tonalite, a geologically more recent granitic formation, is the predominant rock. We suggest planning this excursion for the months of June and July, when the high-altitude blooming season is at its peak.

The trek starts at Darfo Boario Terme with overnight stays at Tassara, Tita Secchi, Maria e Franco, Lissone, Prudenzini, Gnutti, Baitone, Tonolini, Garibaldi, Aviolo, Malga Stain Refuges. On the last day, arrival in Temù.

EE 5-7 h. 7 gg.

• Adamello Park Northern Trail A four-day trip at the foot of the mind-boggling granite walls of the Adamello and Baitone mountain ranges, across the most spectacular areas of Adamello Park. The trek passes by all the major Alpine lakes in the ranges, crossing the Avio Valley (10 km long and up to 5 km wide), then the higher Malga Valley, dotted with small lakes set in the rocks, and finally the wilderness of the Rabbia and Gallinera valleys. In the Rabbia Valley, an integral reserve of Adamello Park, it is absolutely prohibited to leave the trail. Recommended period: from July to September.

On the first day, you start at Temù and climb up to Garibaldi Refuge, where you spend the night. Subsequent overnight stays at Baitone and Aviolo Refuges. Arrival at Vezza d'Oglio.

EE 5-8 h. 4 gg.

- 7 - • Valle delle Messi This excursion starts off with a typical Camonica Valley dinner served at Gavia Pass, at an altitude of over 2,600 m. The next day, you descend into the spectacular Valle delle Messi, dominated by the southern side of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range. The entire route tours the Stelvio National Park, where it is not uncommon to sight wild animals in their natural habitat.

The stages of the trek are from 4 to 8 hours long. On the first day the group is shuttled by van from to Gavia Pass (Berni or Bonetta Refuge, depending on availability). From there, you walk back down passing through the Valle delle Messi. The trail is not very demanding but the duration may vary E 5 h. 2 gg. depending on the group’s interest in fauna and flora watching. Return to Ponte di Legno. • Ercavallo Lakes and Case di Viso An undemanding route that takes you first through the wide Viso Valley, with its classical U-shape formed by glacial erosion, and then the Ercavallo basin, which hosts about ten Alpine lakes: the largest at an elevation of 2,662 m and the highest at 2,959 m, lying just at the bottom of the Corno dei Tre Signori. An optional excursion on the first day is the loop around Mount Albiolo starting from Bozzi Refuge. The route runs along the old communication pathways used by the Italian Army during World War I and allows you to visit some of the military outposts from that war. On the second day, you cross the lower part of the Ercavallo basin (about 2,600-2,700 m) and come back into the Viso Valley.

Van shuttle from Ponte di Legno to Case di Viso and back. Another optional hike on the first day is the trail looping around the crag of Mount Albiolo (only for expert hikers; duration: 3 to 4 hours).

EE 2-4 h. 2 gg.

- 8 - • Ercavallo Lakes and Gavia Pass A fun but rather demanding excursion that takes you first through the wide Viso Valley, with its classical U- shape formed by glacial erosion, and then the Ercavallo basin, which hosts about ten Alpine lakes: the largest at an elevation of 2,662 m and the highest at 2,959 m, lying just at the bottom of the Corno dei Tre Signori. An optional excursion on the first day is the loop around Mount Albiolo starting from Bozzi Refuge. The route runs along the old communication pathways used by the Italian Army during World War I and allows you to visit some of the military outposts from that war. On the second day you hike through the entire broad Ercavallo basin, climbing up to the Three Lord Horn passage at an altitude of 3,102 m. From there you descend on the wide Gavia saddle. For groups of expert hikers with suitable equipment and mountaineering skills, it is possible to organize a climbing expedition to the top of Three Lord Horn (add 2 and a half hours to the overall duration of the trek). Van shuttle from Ponte di Legno to Case di Viso and EE 5 h. 3 gg. from Gavia Pass back to Ponte di Legno. Overnight stays at Bozzi Refuge and Gavia Pass (Berni or Bonetta Refuge, depending on availability). • Avio and Venerocolo Lakes This two-day trek passes through the Pian di Neve (Snow Plain), the largest glacial basin in the Lombardy Alps, extending over an area of more than 18 km2. The excursion does not require particular hiking skills and training, but good physical fitness will be required to climb up Mount Venerocolo (3,323 m). Along the entire trail you can behold the imposing glacial moraines of the upper Avio Valley, dominated by the highest peaks in the Adamello Mountains. Venerocolo Point has many relics of old military posts scattered all around it, but It owes most of its fame to the fact that it fooled the first man who climbed the Adamello mountains into thinking that it was the highest peak of the range. Van shuttle from Temù-Ponte di Legno to Malga Caldea. Overnight stay at Garibaldi Refuge. EE 4-7 h. 2 gg.

- 9 - • Val Grande, where the deer fall in love The excursion starts off with a typical Camonica Valley dinner served at Gavia Pass at an elevation of over 2,600 m. The next day, you descend into the spectacular Grande Valley, where, during the autumn season, the Stelvio National Park deer go into heat. Packed lunch near Saverio Occhi Bivouac. The first day, the group is shuttled by van from Ponte di Legno to Gavia Pass (Berni or Bonetta Refuge, depending on availability). From there, you walk back down passing through the Grande Valley. The trail is not very demanding but the duration may vary depending on the group’s interest in fauna and flora watching. Return to Ponte di Legno.

E 5 h. 2 gg.

• From Tonale Pass along the Smugglers Trail This trek retraces the routes that the smugglers traveled to carry on their trade between and Italy up until the mid 20th century. Beginning at the wide Tonale saddle, the trail crosses Contrabbandieri (Smugglers) Pass and leads to Bozzi Refuge, where there are numerous recently-restored trenches and military buildings. On the second day, you cross the Ercavallo Basin, which hosts a dozen alpine lakes, and arrive at Gavia Pass in the evening. The third day is dedicated to exploring the peaks that form the boundary between the upper Camonica Valley and the upper . In the evening supper at Gavia Pass with typical local cuisine. Van shuttle to the departure point at Tonale Pass and back from Gavia Pass. Overnight stays at Bozzi Refuge and Berni or Bonetta Refuge, depending on availability. EE 4-6 h. 4 gg.

- 10 - • Loop around the Aviolo Mountains

On the first day, you cross the lush pastures on the slopes of Mount Plazza and arrive as if by magic in the Aviolo Basin. The Gallinera Valley, which you traverse on the second day, is among the wildest in Adamello Park. It has never been the object of mass tourism and, for this reason, has retained its appeal to the most demanding hikers. Fauna and flora have found a natural refuge in this valley, making it rich in endemic species. Ask your guide to let you take your time passing through, so that you can hear the sounds of nature and discover the signs of its inhabitants in the forest or among the crags. At the mouth of the Gallinera Valley, a typical Camonica Valley dinner awaits you at recently-remodeled Malga Stain before you head down to the valley bottom. Departure from and arrival at Edolo. Van shuttle to Mount Colmo where the hike starts and ends. Overnight stay at Aviolo Refuge by the lake of the same name. E 4 h. 2 gg.

• From the Aviolo Basin to the Avio Valley A rather demanding trail due to the length of the middle stage. Nevertheless it allows hikers to view the entire panorama of the Avio Valley and its large alpine lakes from different points of view, while descending from Gole Larghe Pass. A route for those who love the hush of unspoiled wilderness and the whistling wind of high-altitude mountain passes. On the first day, after having lunch at Malga Stain and traveling through the fascinating Gallinera Valley, you spend the night in the Aviolo Basin. On the second day, you experience a change in elevation of almost 1,500 m and thus have the opportunity to witness the different stages of blooming at different altitudes, especially if you make the trip before the end of July. On the last day, fully satisfied after taking in nature’s splendor, you reach the valley floor passing through the beautiful Malga Lavedole Basin. Van shuttle from and back to Edolo. Overnight stays at Aviolo and Garibaldi Refuges. On the first day, a typical Camonica Valley lunch at Malga Stain at the EE 4-8 h. 3 gg. mouth of the Gallinera Valley.

- 11 - • Summit of Mount Adamello Although the summit of Mount Adamello (3,539 m msl) is not among the highest in the Alps, its position allows you to enjoy a vast panorama of all the neighboring peaks. Surrounded by the Pian di Neve, one of the largest glacial systems in the Alps, the summit is a coveted objective for climbers, especially if you consider that it was reached for the first time only in 1864, about 80 years after the conquest of Mount Blanc. We propose two different access routes: the more demanding one from the Avio Valley; the other from the Salarno Valley, the route used by the first Italian climbers. Van shuttle from Ponte di Legno to Malga Caldea and back. Overnight stay at Garibaldi Refuge (Avio Valley) or Prudenzini Refuge (Salarno Valley). EEA 5 h. 2 gg.

• Sant Antonio Valleys Natural Reserve Campovecchio Valley together with Brandet Valley forms the Sant’Antonio Valleys Regional Reserve. Here it seems as if time - marked by the swiftly flowing waters of the mountain torrents - has stood still, preserving the typical mountain huts, the pastures dotted with cows, and the highest lakes forming a crown on top of Mount Torsoleto. Above 2,000 m, we recommend that you linger and look out for the flight of an eagle or the presence of ungulates and listen for the whistle of an alpine marmot. Starting at the small hamlet of Sant’Antonio the trek travels through both the valleys composing the reserve, with stays at Alpini di Campovecchio Refuge, on the first night, and Torsoleto Refuge, on the second. Van shuttle from Edolo to Sant’Antonio and back.

• Valtellina

The Valtellina, located in the middle of the Lombard Alps, extends from the Bernina and Cevedale mountain ranges in the east to Spluga Pass and Lake Como in the west. The Valtellina is synonymous with unspoiled nature: oases of peace and quiet, wind that caresses the leaves in the woods and lashes the icy summits at an elevation of almost 4,000 m, and water that flows down from the glaciers in thousands of rivulets, saturating the colors and intensifying the perfume. The Valtellina is also a valley of savory food, prized wines, and deeply-rooted traditions. In a nutshell, it is a valley where environmentally-friendly tourism has become a reality, an ideal spot for a vacation in any season of the year. In the Valtellina there are many natural parks, the most well-known of which is Stelvio National Park, the largest in the Alps (over 1,300 km2). Stelvio occupies a large part of the upper valley, while towards the west a series of valleys - Val di Mello, Valmasino, Valmalenco, and Valchiavenna - enhances the landscape and offers additional opportunities for outings. These valleys are also renowned in their own right and make an important contribution to the potential of this vast mountain area.

- 15 - • Val di Mello A valley with hundreds of meters of steep over-hanging walls, abundant water resources, century-old woods, and towering waterfalls precipitating from high-altitude glaciers. This alone does not suffice to describe the Mello Valley; it is merely an introduction. You can discover the rest yourself by making this truly rewarding trek with broad vistas, demanding climbs, and rugged summits. The route is always well equipped on the difficult trails and allows you to see a complete panorama of these primordial peaks in just four days. Van shuttle from and back to . Overnight stays at Omio, Giannetti, and Rasega Refuges.

EE 3-5 h. 4 gg.

• Valmasino This route in the heart of the Rhaetian Alps starts in the lower Valmasino and climbs all the way up the valley to the slopes of Mount Disgrazia, towering above at 3,678 m. In close proximity to the Valchiavenna, the Val di Mello, and the Valmalenco, this valley has the typical vegetation of a Rhaetian mountainside with rich humid broadleaf undergrowth, chestnut trees, and beech trees. At higher altitudes it offers one of the most fascinating and inhospitable glacier zones in the central Alps, encompassing granitic summits where the history of modern mountain climbing was made. Van shuttle from and back to Morbegno. Overnight stays in Alpe Granda, Bosio, Ponti, and Scotti Refuges. EE 3-5 h. 5 gg.

- 16 - • Valfurva Situated in the upper Valtellina in the heart of Stelvio National Park, the Valfurva is bounded by a large semicircular mountain range. Mount Cevedale, 3,769 m, is the central point of the range where many important valleys originate. The surrounding peaks— all higher than 3,200 m—spectacularly frame the area, which hosts the greatest number of glaciers in Lombardy. The trek makes a wide semicircle through the varied scenery of the upper valley and, on the shorter stages, includes hikes not requiring mountaineering skills to the glaciers (glaciological route) or peaks. Near Forni and Branca Refuges there are several easy-to-reach practice walls. Van shuttle from and back to . Overnight stays in V Alpini, Pizzini, Casati, Branca, and Forni Refuges. EE 3-5 h. 6 gg.

• Ortles Cevedale Trek The trek starts at Gavia Pass, once used by the Venetians to trade with the County of Bormio. Following a semicircular path around the head of the upper Valtellina in the heart of Stelvio National Park, surrounded by peaks over 3,200 m high, you can enjoy a primordial landscape close to the most forbidding glaciers in Lombardy. At the mid-point of this wide-ranging trail is imposing Mount Cevedale, 3,769 m, the nodal point of the entire mountain range. On the shorter stages, hikes not requiring mountaineering skills can be made to the glaciers (glaciological route) or peaks. Near Forni and Branca Refuges there are several easy-to-reach practice walls.

Van shuttle from and back to Bormio. Overnight stays EE 3-5 h. 6 gg. at Berni (or Bonetta), Forni, Branca, Casati, Pizzini, and Campo Refuges.

- 17 - • Upper Val Malenco The Valmalenco is one of the broadest valleys in the province of , with old traditions both as a trading partner with Rhaetia and as a tourist locale already in the early 1900s. Its pristine faces and numerous glaciers made it an ideal practice wall for many climbers of the last century. We propose an exciting high mountain trek that traverses the slopes of the Disgrazia mountain range, Bernina Peak, and Scalino Peak, with stops at some of the most important refuges in the valley. Van shuttle from and back to Sondrio. Overnight stays at Gerli Porro, Longoni, and Motta Refuges.

EE 4-6 h. 4 gg.

• Val Malenco Tour This trek links with the preceding one to complete the high road of the Valmalenco, one of the most important and most rugged routes of the Lombard Alps. Always in close proximity to commanding peaks of up to 4,000 m high (summit of Bernina), the trail tours the three major mountain ranges of the area: Disgrazia, Bernina, and Scalino. Among the rocks, covered with precious herbs—like musk yarrow and noble wormwood—live alpine marmots, ermines, and golden eagles. Van shuttle from and back to Sondrio. Overnight stays at Gerli Porro, Longoni, Marinelli-Bombardieri, Bignami, and Ca’ Runcash Refuges.

EE 3-5 h. 6 gg.

- 18 - • Sasso Nero Botanical Trail An easy, but fascinating, trek of only three days in the upper Valmalenco, where you will take a botanical tour of a veritable natural garden situated on soil prevalently of glacial origin. This route gives you an appreciation of the differentiation of vegetation with respect to elevation, as well as the influence of man on the area (pastures, woodcutting, and tourism). Van shuttle from and back to Sondrio. Overnight stays at Alpe Musella, Palù, and Sasso Nero refuges. Recommended period: June and July.

E 3-5 h. 4 gg.

• Vittorio Sella Glaciological Trail This short trek allows hikers who are not expert mountaineers to experience the world of glaciers and learn about glacial anatomy. The route makes a loop on the bottom of the Ventina Valley and ascends the usual access path to the glacier; on the way back, it travels down the opposite side of the valley. While going up and back down the trail you can use the series of plaques and flags to help you identify the moraines deposited by the glacier dating from the Little Ice Age (1550 – 1850) to the present, as well as the positions reached by the glacial front during its gradual recession. Van shuttle from and back to Sondrio. Overnight stays in Ventina and Gerli Porro Refuges. No special glacier equipment is required.

E 2-4 h. 3 gg.

- 19 - • Valchiavenna This short hike in the Valchiavenna gives excursionists an appreciation of unspoiled nature, just a short hop away from some of the most famous high-altitude tourist resorts in the Lombard Alps. Even less experienced hikers will be rewarded by this itinerary near the Swiss border: the scents of the mountains and views of impervious summits, evenings in the warm and cozy refuges arranged in an arc on the left side of the valley (looking downstream). The trek can be made, with no difference in price, to either Medesimo (from Mai Tardi Refuge) or (from Refuge). Van shuttle from Chiavenna. Starting at Bertacchi Refuge, a choice of two routes: Mai Tardi Refuge or Chiavenna Refuge.

T 3-4 h. 3 gg.

- 20 - • Stelvio National Park

Stelvio National Park covers an area of 1,346.20 km2 in the heart of the central Alps, including the entire Ortles-Cevedale massif and its side valleys. In the national park you can find examples of every kind of alpine feature, from high-elevation glaciers (Ortles 3,905 m) to summer pastures and terraces, as you make your way to the valley bottom (Laces 650 m). You can also admire vast woodlands, cultivated areas, mountain farmsteads inhabited all year round, hamlets, and villages. It is easy to see why for decades there have been conflicts of interest: on one hand, the desire to protect and maintain a natural area and, on the other, proposals to keep up with progress and new technology - expanding the road network, utilizing hydraulic energy, and developing mountain tourism. The park scenery is characterized by the harmonious juxtaposition of untouched alpine terrain and land cultivated for centuries. Moreover, the hydrogeological conditions of the area have created a distinctive landscape with glacial lakes and sparkling torrents. Thanks to the differences in altitude and the morphological variety, the park is also known for its extensive ecosystems rich in flora and fauna. http://www.stelviopark.it

The stages of the trek are not very long, so you can spend the afternoon climbing some of the many via ferratas or exploring grottos or old mines. This is surely one of the most rewarding treks offered. Van shuttle from and back to Lecco. Overnight stays at Sel, Rosalba, Elisa, Bogani, and Pialeral Refuges.

The route acquaints you with a natural area untouched by mass tourism and treats you to the family-like hospitality of the small but cozy refuges. You can also visit the old mines of the upper Varrone Valley and the outposts on the Cadorna Line near Roccoli Lorla. • Orobic Alps

The Orobic Alps encompass the large Orobic Alps Park (about 630 km2, established in 1989) featuring deep forests, broad meadowlands still heavily used for summer pastures, and a great wealth of fauna and flora. The abundance of surface water - numerous lakes fed by bubbly torrents - often creates impressive waterfalls: the Serio Waterfall at Valbondione, with a drop of 315 m, is the highest in Italy. The Orobic Alps offer so many opportunities for outings, even in the valleys: a tour of Romanesque art along the Brembo, precious churches on the valley bottom, and austere palaces in old hamlets. History has left its mark: from the first settlements (5th-6th century BC), to the Roman era, of which numerous artifacts remain, to the long period of Venetian rule, which produced indelible signs in the architecture, town planning, and customs. In the Bergamo Orobic Alps, thanks to less intense industrial development compared to other areas in Lombardy, there are still a goodly number of medieval hamlets, while at high elevations life goes on as it did long ago, following the rhythm of the sun and the seasons.

- 30 - • Orobic Alps Park

This park covers the Bergamo side of the Orobic mountain range, distinguished by peaks between 2,000 and 3,000 m and deep valley incisions that feed the chief rivers of the . The expansive luxuriant woods are among the most prized features of the park and include, in order of altitude, beech woods, silver and spruce fir woods, and larch woods. Still higher there are high-elevation meadowlands and pastures stretching up to the rupestral and nival zones. Noteworthy is the wealth of alpine fauna, including very rare species like the ptarmigan and golden eagle. Recently the ibex was reintroduced in the park. For centuries man has lived in the Orobic Alps, creating inhabited centers, summer pasture huts, and terraces. Generation after generation he has turned the woods into meadowlands and pastures with great effort, contributing to the diversification of the alpine scenery that makes these mountains unique. Currently the landscape is experiencing a regrowth of trees in the meadows and pastures, primarily due to the natural repopulation of the original arboreal vegetation. Still today, from June to early September, the herders drive their livestock from the valley bottom up to 2,000 m. The mountain huts posted in the “maggenghi” (mid-altitude pastures along the migration trail) are witnesses of this annual transhumance.

- 31 - • Orobic Alps Trail (7 and 10 days) The Orobic Alps Trail leads hikers deep into one of the wildest areas of the Alps at an elevation of about 2,000 m within Orobic Alps Park. The richness of the flora in every season, plentiful fauna (alpine marmots, chamois, every so often eagles, and several herds of ibex), captivating views, including a 360° panorama of the entire Central Alps, make this trek unforgettable. The park has an abundance of surface water - numerous lakes fed by bubbly torrents, which often creates impressive waterfalls: the Serio Waterfall at Valbondione, with a drop of 315 m, is the highest in Italy. The trek is offered in two versions: the first (10 days) crosses the entire western Orobic Alps up to the Camonica Valley; the second (7 days) stops under the Presolana massif.

Orobic Alps Trail (10 days) Van shuttle from and back to Clusone or Darfo Boario Terme. Overnight stays in Alpe Corte, Laghi Gemelli, Calvi, Brumone, Coca, Curò, Barbellino, Tagliaferri, and Vivione Refuges and Iseo Mountain Hut. EE 4-6 h. 7-10 gg. Orobic Alps Trail (7 days) Van shuttle from and back to Clusone or Darfo Boario Terme. Overnight stays in Capanna 2000, Laghi Gemelli, Calvi, Brumone, Coca, Curò, and Albani Refuges.

- 32 - • Carona Alpine Lakes A trek through the dazzling blue gems of the Orobic Alps: a series of alpine lakes set in the valleys above Carona, a small village of quarriers (this zone has the largest slate quarries in Bergamo). One of the lakes is also named Carona. On the first day, starting at Corona, you climb up to the iron mining area; on the second day, the short stage gives you enough time to make excursions to the surrounding peaks; the third day is totally dedicated to the lakes: a hike through Frati Valley leads you to Gemelli (Twin) Lakes. Van shuttle from and back to Piazza Brembana. Overnight stays at Longo, Calvi, and Laghi Gemelli Refuges.

E 4-6 h. 4 gg.

• Flower Trail The Flower Trail is a naturalistic itinerary in the Orobic Alps that is one of a kind. In addition to the magnificent scenery, you will see rare and spectacular blossoms of exceptional beauty and great botanical interest. The presence of numerous endemic species makes the Orobic Alps flora in this setting even more precious and extraordinary. The best time to make the trek is, without a doubt, during the blooming season (June and July). The trail is suitable for everyone. Van shuttle from and back to Clusone. Overnight stays at Alpe Corte and Capanna 2000 Refuges.

E 4-6 h. 3 gg.

- 33 - • Carona Alpine Lakes and Flower Trail This trek combines two of the most spectacular scenic and naturalistic routes: the Flower Trail and the hike to the Carona alpine lakes, skipping, however, the Carona mining area. Thus you can sample a wider area in a shorter time. Van shuttle from and back to Piazza Brembana or Clusone. Overnight stays at Calvi, Laghi Gemelli, and Capanna 2000 Refuges.

E 4-6 h. 4 gg.

• Lake Area Trek During this trek you will spend two days in the vicinity of Lake Barbellino where you can chose among various hikes in the lake area or on the surrounding peaks. These excursions can be decided on with your guide once you are there. The harsh remote setting gives you the impression of being at an even higher altitude, yet special mountaineering skills are not required. At dawn and dusk you can easily spot wildlife amid the scenery. Van shuttle from and back to Clusone. Overnight stays at Tagliaferri and Barbellino Refuges (two nights at the latter).

EE 4-6 h. 5 gg.

- 34 - • Presolana This trek is quite demanding due to the difference in elevation and features a climb to the summit of Presolana, one of the most distinctive peaks in the Orobic Alps (only for expert equipped hikers). The route continues on in one of the wildest zones of the Orobic Alps, at about 2,000 m, with a stupendous landscape rich in flora and fauna. Shuttle van from and back to Darfo Boario Terme or Clusone. Overnight stays at Albani (two nights), Curò, Tagliaferri, and Vivione Refuges.

EE 5-7 h. 6 gg.

- 37 - • General Terms and Conditions

1) GOVERNING LAWS AND REGULATIONS Package tour sales contracts are governed by the present General Terms and Conditions, as well as by the provisions contained in the travel documents handed to the consumer. These contracts are also subject to the applicable provisions of Law No.1084, 27 December1977, implementing the International Convention (CCV) concerning travel contracts signed in Brussels on 23 April 1970 and by Law Decree No. 111/95. 2) REQUIRED INFORMATION – DATA SCHEDULE This catalog contains the information required by law: a) Organizer licensing details; b) Liability insurance policy details; c) Validity period of the catalog; d) Applicable exchange rate for the purposes of price adjustments. These terms and conditions are also posted on the Internet site , the only means by which any changes in prices, terms and conditions, and period of validity will be communicated. 3) BOOKINGS Bookings may be made only by electronic means. 4) PAYMENTS Payment on account in the amount of 25% of the price of the package shall be made by bank wire transfer to confirm the booking. The balance shall be paid by bank wire transfer at least thirty days before the departure date. Failure to pay the above amounts constitutes an express termination clause that gives the intermediary agency and/or the organizer the right to terminate the contract. 5) PRICE The price of the package shall be laid down in the contract and expressed in Euros, the only currency in which payments may be made. The price specified in the contract may be changed up to 30 days before the departure date solely because of changes in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel. 6) CONSUMER WITHDRAWAL The consumer has the right to withdraw from the contract, without penalty, in any of the following cases: - Increase in the price, referred to in Art. 5 above, by a percentage exceeding 10%; - Significant alteration of one or more of the terms of the contract objectively deemed essential for enjoyment of the package as a whole and proposed after conclusion of the contract but before the date of departure and not accepted by the consumer. In the abovementioned cases, the consumer shall be entitled: - To receive a substitute package of equivalent value without any price increase, or if the replacement package offered is of lower value, the difference in price shall be refunded to the consumer. - Or to be refunded the sum already paid within 7 working days from the moment the refund request is received. The consumer shall notify the organizer of his decision (to reject the proposed change or to withdraw from the contract) within two working days from the moment he receives notice of the price increase or of the proposed change. If the consumer fails to make his decision known within this term, the proposal of the organizer will be considered accepted. If the consumer withdraws from the contract before the departure date for reasons not listed in the first paragraph, irrespectively of the account paid pursuant to Art. 1, paragraph 1, he will be charged a cancellation fee of 50.00 euros. If the cancellation occurs less than thirty days before departure, the penalty shall be the entire cost of the package. 7) CHANGES TO OR CANCELLATION OF THE PACKAGE BEFORE DEPARTURE If the organizer, before the agreed date of departure, notifies the consumer in writing of the impossibility of providing one or more of the services involved in the package and proposes an alternate solution, the consumer will be entitled to either receive a full refund of the amount already paid, or accept a proposed substitute package pursuant to paragraphs 2 and 3 of Art. 6 above. The consumer is entitled to the above rights even if cancellation is due to the failure to reach the minimum number of participants indicated in the catalog, or to force majeure or unusual and unforeseeable circumstances involving the package in question. If the organizer cancels a package (ex Art. 1469 bis, No. 5, of the Civil Code) for reason other than force majeure, unusual and unforeseeable circumstances, failure to reach the minimum number of participants required, or for reasons other than non-acceptance by the consumer of the substitute package offered (pursuant to Art. 6 above), then the organizer shall refund the consumer an amount double the amount paid by the consumer and collected by the organizer through the services of the travel agent. The amount refunded shall never exceed double the amount to which the consumer would be entitled on the same date pursuant to Art. 7, paragraph 4, above, if the consumer himself had cancelled. 8) CHANGES AFTER DEPARTURE If after departure, the organizer perceives that he will be unable to procure, for any reason other the fault of the consumer, a significant proportion of the services contracted for, the organizer shall make suitable alternative arrangements, at no extra cost to the consumer, and, if the services offered are of lower value

- 38 - than the services contracted for, the organizer shall reimburse the difference. If it is impossible to make such alternative arrangements or if they are not accepted by the consumer for good reason, the organizer shall provide the consumer, at no extra cost, with equivalent transport back to the place of departure, or to another return-point to which the consumer has agreed, subject to the availability of transport and of seats, and shall compensate the consumer for the difference in cost between the services contracted for and the services provided up to the time of arrival at the return-point. If the consumer refuses to continue the trek on foot as specified in the contract, he will not have the right to alternative arrangements. 9) TRANSFER OF THE PACKAGE Where the consumer decides not proceed with the package, he may transfer his booking to another person, provided that: a) The organizer is given written notice of his intention at least 4 working days prior to the date set for departure, together with the personal data of the transferee; b) The transferee satisfies all the conditions applicable to the package (Law Decree 111/95, ex Art .10), in particular all the requirements related to passport, visas and health certificates; c) The transferee reimburses the organizer all the expenses incurred for the transfer of the package in the amount notified prior to the transfer of the package. The cost of transferring the package shall be 50.00 euros. The transferor of the package and the transferee shall be jointly and severally liable for payment of the balance due and for any additional costs arising from such transfer referred to in the paragraph c) of this article. Third parties, connected with the provision of certain services, may not accept the change in the name from the transferor to the transferee, even if the transfer was carried out within the terms referred to in paragraph a). The organizer shall not be liable, therefore, for the non-acceptance of the transfer of the package by third parties involved in the provision of services. The organizer shall give prompt notice of this non-acceptance to the interested parties prior to the departure. 10) OBLIGATIONS OF THE CONSUMER The consumer shall hold a valid passport or other valid ID, accepted in all the countries that will be traveled through during the trip, as well as stay visas, transit visas and health certificates, wherever these documents are required. The consumer shall also act according to the rules of normal prudent and diligent behavior, as well as according to all the specific rules that may be in force in the countries of destination. The consumer shall also abide by the directives of the organizer, as well as the rules and administrative and legislative provisions connected with the package. Likewise, the consumer shall scrupulously follow the directions of the guide. The consumer will be liable for any and all damages the organizer incurs due to its failure to fulfill its obligations stated above. The consumer shall provide the organizer with all the documents, information and data in his possession that could be useful in support of the right of subrogation of the organizer against third parties responsible for damages. The consumer is also liable to the organizer for adversely affecting his right of subrogation. The consumer shall also notify the organizer in writing, at the time of the booking, of any special personal requests concerning particular aspects of the journey, which will then be the object of special agreement, provided that it is possible to satisfy such requests. 11) CLASSIFICATION OF ACCOMMODATIONS The refuges used during the trek meet the accident prevention and health regulations provided for by Italian law. Nevertheless one should be aware of the fact that the high-altitude facilities in question are not able to provide the following services: double or single rooms; showers on the floors, hot water. 12) LIABILITY The organizer shall be liable for any and all damages, caused either directly or by third parties connected with the provision of the services, resulting to the consumer from the failure to perform, in whole or in part, the services contracted for, unless such failure to perform is attributable to the consumer (including any individual initiatives autonomously undertaken by the consumer during the tour), or to events unconnected with the provision of the services contracted for, unforeseeable or unavoidable events, force majeure, or an event which the organizer, even with all due professional diligence, could not reasonably foresee or forestall. The retailer responsible for the booking of the package, shall in no case be liable for any obligation arising from the organization of the tour, but will be liable solely for the obligations arising from his role as the intermediary party and, in any case, within the liability limits set forth by the aforementioned laws and/or conventions. The consumer is fully liable for damages caused to himself, the organizer, or traveling companions by his behavior or failure to follow directions provided by the guide. 13) LIMITS OF COMPENSATION Compensation due by the organizer for damages to the person shall in no case exceed the compensation provided for by the international conventions governing the services, the non-fulfillment of which gives rise to the liability, and, more precisely, the Warsaw Convention of 1929 on International Carriage by Air as amended by the protocol signed at The Hague in 1955; the Bern Convention on International Carriage by Rail (CIV); and the 1970 Brussels Convention (CCV) on travel contracts for any liability case against the organizer. The compensation will in no case exceed the amount of "2,000 Francs Gold Germinal for damages to property" as provided for by Art 13 of CCV and 5,000 Francs Gold Germinal for any other damage and for the damages set forth in Art. 1783 of the Civil Code.

- 39 - 14) OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE The organizer shall provide assistance to the consumer according to the principle of professional diligence solely to the extent of its contractual obligations or pursuant to the provisions of the law. The organizer and the retailer are absolved from their respective obligations (Art. 13 and 14), if the failure, in whole or in part, in the performance of the contract is attributable to the consumer, or to an unforeseeable and unavoidable event attributable to a third party, or to a case of force majeure, or to an unforeseeable and unavoidable event. 15) COMPLAINTS AND CLAIMS The consumer must communicate to the organizer on the spot any perceived failure in the performance of the contract, so that the organizer or a local representative or the companion guide can make prompt efforts to find appropriate solutions. The consumer can also communicate his complaint to the organizer or the retailer in writing by registered letter with return receipt, no later than ten working days from the date of return to the departure point. 16) CANCELLATION AND REPATRIATION INSURANCE If the price does not already include insurance, it is strongly recommended, when booking the package with the organizer or the retailer, to take out an insurance policy to cover the cost of cancellation of the package by the consumer, or the cost of assistance in the event of accident or loss of luggage. It is also possible to take out an insurance policy to cover the cost of assistance, including repatriation, in the event of an accident or illness. 17) SECURITY FUND In the event of insolvency or bankruptcy of the retailer or the organizer, the consumer may apply (pursuant to Art. 21D of Decree Law 111/95) to the National Security Fund, which was created under the auspices of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to provide the following services: a) refund of the amount paid; b) repatriation in case of travel abroad. The Fund will also provide prompt economic relief in case of forced repatriation of a tourist group from non- EU countries in the event of an emergency, whether attributable to the organizer or not. Operating procedures of the Fund are set forth in a decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (pursuant to Art. 21 of Law Decree 111/95.) 18) INCOMING AGENCY The agency through which packages will be invoiced is Lentour Bassa Bresciana Viaggi srl - Via Badia 90/k, Leno (BS) enrolled in the Brescia Company Registry, No. 298 on 12/02/03; travel agent’s liability insurance policy No. 117322673, Società Cattolica di Assicurazione.
