Zufrieden. Kurvensatt. Positiv geladen. Wir können davon nicht genug bekommen. Und des- halb: „Lass uns doch mal ...“ — “Let’s drive over the Dolomites and down to Venice!” For all “Soulful Drivers”, this is an emotional key phrase which im- mediately sets off fireworks of pure joy in every synapse. Images are created in the mind that blend almost forbidden wilderness with sensual beauty. The north of Italy lives from intoxicating emotions and sharp contrasts that are unparal- leled in the Alps. One moment you find yourself in an intense duel with the switchbacks of the Stelvio Pass – and the next minute you’re cruising over the wide, simmering plains down to the Mediterranean. Happy. Curve-satiated. Positively charged. We simply can’t get enough of it. And so: “Let’s drive...” SELLAJOCH 30 ÖSTERREICH ÖSTERREICH 31 VALPAROLAPASS NORDITALIEN • NORTHERN ITALY 45 PONTE DI LEGNO STERZING GAVIAPASS (2652 M) STILFSER JOCH (2757 M) TIMMELSJOCH (2474 M) JAUFENPASS (2094 M) 260 KM • 7 STUNDEN // 162 MILES • 7 HOURS Lago di Como. -
2021 Giro Virtuale Ride Report 210602
Giro d’Italia Virtuale 2021 had not given much thought to a 2021 Giro d’Italia Virtuale until I was contacted out of the blue via LinkedIn the week before the real Giro I started. “Are you the Pike Talbert who created the Fulgaz Giro d'Italia Virtuale last year at https://fulgaz.com/my-giro-ditalia-virtuale-pike- talbert?” his note began. “If so, I'm wondering if you were going to curate a version 2.0 for the 2021 Giro?” That was all the inspiration I needed! A week later: Tahdah! An initial draft was complete: 21 stages utilising 20 FulGaz rides, 14 of which were new this year—either recently released by FulGaz, or recently discovered by moi. Several iterations later the final version was complete. The Table below provides a comparative Summary. A couple of background comments are worth highlighting: • My Giro last year was mostly about climbing as many of the famous and iconic mountain passes as possible. I have discovered the hard way that this is actually boring (not to mention painful). It turns out that flatter, rolling stages usually contain better scenery—a “smell the roses” approach that favours vistas and seeing more of Italy’s natural beauty over elevation gain and degree of difficulty. Thus, I have inserted more flatter and rolling stages. • Most of the rides I have eliminated in favour of the new ones are longer climbs (i.e., greater than 90 minutes based on videographer time and 3 of the 4 Stelvio-related ascents). It is for this reason that the total time is nearly an hour less than last year. -

CYCLING ALONG THE MOST FAMOUS “GIRO D'ITALIA” PASSES Tour for passionate road cyclists WHAT YOU’LL DISCOVER In these tours you will cycle along Lombardy, among the most famous passes of the “Giro d'Italia”: in CAMONICA VALLEY (2) and in TELLINA VALLEY (1). The color that represents the Camonica Valley is GREY, the color of the UNESCO heritage rocks engraved in the Neolithic, and the high peaks, cradle of the majestic Presena glacier. Camonica valley is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2019. The color of Valtellina is VIOLET, which represents the crisp air of high mountains between the famous passes of northern Italy: Stelvio, Gavia but also towns like Bormio, Livigno and Saint Moritz in nearby Switzerland. Violet are also the grapes and the wines produced in this land CHOOSE WHAT SUITS YOU BEST! Here you will find some passes routes for cycling enthusiasts. They are all part of the “Giro d’Italia” the most famous and important annual multiple-stage bicycle race. The passes we chose are all located in north-eastern Lombardy in Camonica Valley and Valtellina. You have to know that we could personalize everything for you, as ascent and distance. Lovere (Bg) my little town, is situated in the upper Sebino (lake Iseo) and in 2019 was the starting point of the most hard step of the much followed tour “Giro d’Italia”. -

Bormio Per L’Edizione 2019 Della Salita Al PASSO GAVIA
THEMIS' ITALIAN ADVENTURE 8 DAYS 4 – 11 September 2019
ITA THEMIS' ITALIAN ADVENTURE 8 DAYS 4 – 11 September 2019 Experience the best riding in Italy, through the Dolomites and Italian Alps. Fulfil the Stelvio Experience, climb the Mighty Mortirolo and other great climbs that have created Italian cycling legends. Visit Madonna del Ghisallo, a Patron Saint of cycling near Lake Como and finish with the Monte Grappa climb above the Veneto plains. Overview OUR TRIP Preamble WELCOME TO ITALIA Our exclusive 8-day trip starts and finishes in Milan. The fashion capital will serve just as a meeting and departure point, as the mountains in Italy's north call us. We start our journey on one of the great lakes, Lake Como, nestled on its main peninsula is the village of Bellagio, worthy of a visit. From Bellagio our climbing begins, following a Giro di Lombardia route to Madonna del Ghisallo. It is only a sight one would see in Italy, combining religion and cycling. Following our warm-up, we head further north and install ourselves in Bormio, a location where many cyclists come to experience Passo dello Stelvio. There is also the mighty Mortirolo and the tough Passo Gavia to conquer during our stay. We'll take an easier day on the scenic Piccolo Stelvio climb before exiting over Stelvio to the South Tirol region. South Tirol borders with Austria, and the mountains are impressive, grand and dramatic; the Dolomiti. Our day on Sella Ronda will possibly be the most scenic and challenging 50km loops you may ever do. We exit from the Dolomites through the southern ascent that connects with the Veneto Plains. -
