The myth of the unbeatable fighter is just that, a myth. In what will go down as the single most memorable UFC fight in history, Ronda Rousey was not only defeated, but systematically destroyed by a fighter and a coaching staff that had spent years preparing for that night. On 2/28, Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey were the two co-headliners on a show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The idea was that Holm, a former world boxing champion, would impressively knock out Raquel Pennington, a .500 level fighter who was known for exchanging blows and not taking her down. Rousey was there to face Cat Zingano, a fight that was supposed to be the hardest one of her career. Holm looked unimpressive, barely squeaking by in a split decision. Rousey beat Zingano with an armbar in 14 seconds.

Cubed Circle Newsletter – Payback 2013 In this week’s newsletter we look at the 2013 Payback pay-per-view, as well as the fallout from RAW, the rating that the show did, NXT, a decent edition of iMPACT, All Japan fallout and SmackDown. It is a smaller issue than usual, but fear not! As next week we will be back with a look at Saturday’s New Japan Dominion show, as well as ROH’s Best in the World iPPV. We also have a few big changes coming to the newsletter in the coming months, so stay tuned for that. And with all of that out of the way, I hope that you enjoy the newsletter and have a great week. - Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter Editor News WWE Continue Great Run with Payback The past week and a half or so has been a great period for the WWE from a quality perspective, and they continued that run this week with a their 2013 Payback show from the Allstate Arena in Chicago. Going into the show I wasn’t expecting a blow-away card, but they over delivered with some great moments in front of a crowd that has been arguably one of their most consistently great ones over the past few years. The show was expected to be somewhat of an unnoteworthy show, but the opposite was actually the case, with multiple title changing hands, and seeds for the biggest feud of the summer, Brock Lesnar versus CM Punk, being planted during a great outing between CM Punk and Chris Jericho.

  • "The Dragon". He Is Credited for Inventing the Dragon Sleeper and the Dragon Suplex
Tatsumi Fujinami Tatsumi Fujinami is a Japanese professional wrestler who is famous for his nickname as "The Dragon". He is credited for inventing the dragon sleeper and the dragon suplex. He is also the owner and founder of the Dradition wrestling promotion. In 2015, Fujinami was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, while also signing on as an ambassador for the company. Fujinami started in the old Japanese Wrestling Association (JWA) under Antonio Inoki's wing at the age of 17. When Inoki was fired from JWA in 1971, Fujinami and a few others followed him in forming a new promotion, New Japan Pro Wrestling. Inoki, Fujinami, Osamu Kido and Kotetsu Yamamoto are recognized as NJPW's founding fathers. Fujiwara, Hamada and three other rookies competed in the 1974 Karl Gotch Cup (a tournament for rookies, forerunner to the later Young Lions Cup). In the late 1970s, Fujinami was sent abroad, to Mexico's Universal Wrestling Association and to Jim Crockett Promotions in the U.S. In the late 1970s he went to the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) where he first made a name for himself. He won the WWWF Junior Heavyweight Championship on January 23, 1978.and brought it to Japan, establishing it as the premier junior heavyweight title in Japan. In October 1981, he graduated to the heavyweight division. Fujinami would be the first wrestler to be successful in both the junior heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. 1988 proved to be Fujinami's banner year. On May 8, he defeated Big Van Vader by disqualification, to win the title vacated by Antonio Inoki.

  • Cubed Circle Newsletter 230 – Type Forever!
Cubed Circle Newsletter 230 – Type Forever! We are back with one of our biggest issues of the year covering all of the major matches happenings from the biggest weekend in wrestling of the entire year. Ben reviews and discusses WrestleMania 32, the post-Mania RAW, Takeover Dallas, and the Hall of Fame in-depth. Plus we have the largest and most extensive Mixed Bag segment yet with coverage of Shimmer, EVOLVE 58, EVOLVE 59, Mercury Rising, TakeOver, WrestleMania, and more! – Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter, Editor The Pro-Wres Digest for April 3rd – April 9th. @BenCarass. Top Stories: The sad news of Blackjack Mulligan's death was reported by WWE.com on 7/4, although the article didn't mention a cause or date of death. Mulligan, 73, had been battling health issues for years and suffered a heart attack in June 2015, which at the time Mulligan attributed to suffering from the ill- effects of The Bends after a diving incident years earlier. He was hospitalised earlier this year in February and his grandsons, Windham Rotunda (Bryan Wyatt) & Taylor Rotunda (Bo Dallas), along with their father Mike Rotunda, left the Monday Night RAW show in Dallas, TX and flew to Florida to be with Mulligan. There was no update on Mulligan's condition at all until the WWE story about his passing on 7/4. The strange thing in all of this is that up until two weeks ago – when all the concussion cases were thrown out of court – the WWE were actually suing Mulligan as a pre-emptive strike to stop him from jumping on the concussion lawsuits.

  • Playing Catch-Up We, As in Both Ben and Myself, Are Back This Week For
Cubed Circle Newsletter 238 – Playing Catch-Up We, as in both Ben and myself, are back this week for the first two author newsletter in well over a month. This issue is late, as has been the case for around the same amount of time, but I like to think that this is due to wrestling backlog more than anything else. Regardless, we have a ton to cover in this week's newsletter including TNA financial woes, Kurt Angle vs. Zack Sabre Jr., the go- home show for Money in the Bank, Lawler domestic violence allegations, the best New Japan matches from March through to April and so much more! – Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter Editor The Pro-Wres Digest for June 12th – June 18th Ben Carass. Top Stories: In a last ditch move to prevent the company from defaulting on its debts and finally going away for good, Billy Corgan purchased a minority ownership of TNA this week. Dixie Carter has been searching for months, and probably even years, to find an investor to inject some cash into the withering company, however the conditions of any sale were that Carter had to keep a majority stake and remain as a featured performer on television. Unsurprisingly there wasn't a long list of takers and earlier this year it appeared like the media company Aroluxe, which former wrestlers Ron & Don Harris are involved with, were all but set to take over TNA. Aroluxe covered costs like production expenses for iMPACT tapings and also made sure TNA had enough money to actually pay all the talent and production staff.
