Friday Young At Heart - rsvp to *07 AUG 9 Performing Arts Center 7:00-8:00 pm The local musical group, Onstage Majority, launched a new quintet project called Always Young: five harmony-loving vocalists/instrumentalists. Members of Always Young have been full time members of Dave Major and the Minors and the Onstage Majority, graduated from Second City’s Improvisation School in Chicago, shared stages with Henry Mancini, Sammy Davis Jr., Steve Allen, Vic Damone, Danny Thomas, Bobby Rydell, Mel Torme, and Liza Minnelli, performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, appeared on The Mike Douglas Show and public television’s WTTW, providing the music for the Emmy Award-winning Gus Giordano Dance Group. You’ll have fun at this concert! Sunday Cameron Edwards: Keys to Inspire - rsvp to *07 AUG 11 Robie Lounge 3:30-4:30 pm Cameron is a pianist devoted to devotion. The mission of Keys to Inspire is to exalt and spread the gospel through music that motivates.

Friday Peter Miletic Concert - rsvp to *07 AUG 16 Surround Sound Theater 7:00-8:00 pm With his big personality and loads of talent, Peter wowed all who attended the February 2 Birthday Bash. We’re thrilled to have him back! Invite friends or come on your own for this super-fun show (remember to rsvp). Peter will lead us through standards, classic , and swing. He clearly loves performing these beautiful melodies as well as a little Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond. Saturday The Garlands Annual Progressive Dinner - rsvp to *07 AUG 17 Begins in Timbers Lounge 4:30 pm A progressive dinner is a party where each course is eaten in a to approx different member’s home. You progress from home to home – 8:30 pm like a potluck but extended across three or four locations. After appetizers in Timbers Lounge, each pair of members meets up with two other pairs for salad/and or soup in one apartment; the main course in a second apartment, and desert in a third apartment. Lynn in Activities will do all the organizing and give every pair an itinerary! If you are not already a pair, your part is to choose a friend (or let us choose one for you) and, together, offer one course for six people (including you and your buddy) and set a table for six in your home. The only requirement is that the course you offer be ready to go at the start of the evening so you can enjoy the other courses and not be running home to prep. Your table may be casual (even paper plates) or fancy. You can cook or order take-out. The goal is to have a relaxed, fun, evening visiting with each other! Last year’s Progressive Dinner was a blast, and the enjoyment only increases as more members participate. You WILL end the Progressive Dinner with deepened friendships and great memo- ries. So jump in! The last date to sign up for this is Tuesday, August 6. When you sign up, please include the fol- lowing information: 1) partner name or whether you need a partner; 2) what course you’d like to offer; whether you’re offering the course in your home or your partner’s; and your email -ad dress. On Monday, August 12, participants will receive the Progressive Dinner schedule. You’re sure to end the night with deepened friendships and great memories! AUG 23 with Ann Wayne - rsvp to *07 11:00 am- Surround Sound Theater 12:00 pm Ann’s relaxed and fun class has become a fixture here at The Garlands. As we age, our need for nutrient-rich meals increases. Ann will demonstrate how to prepare nutrient-dense soups quickly and easily. As always, Ann provides recipes and generous portions of the day’s fare (and usually a little dessert!). Reserve your spot, and bring your appetite.

Monday Special Concert: Frederick Moyer, Classical Pianist - rsvp to *07 SEP 2 Performing Arts Center 7:00-8:15 pm Concert pianist Frederick Moyer first performed with the Boston Symphony and The Boston Pops as a teenager and made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut at 25. He has appeared as soloist with the Cleveland, Phila- delphia and Minnesota Orchestras; the St. Louis, Dallas, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Houston, Singapore, Netherlands Radio, Latvian, Iceland, and London Symphony Orchestras; the Buffalo, Hong Kong, and Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestras; the National Symphony Orchestra of Brazil; and the major orchestras of Australia. His 22 recordings on the Biddulph, GM, and JRI labels comprise works by over thirty composers. , 1996 Pulitzer Prize winner, composed for him. And he’ll be here at The Garlands to play for us! While the music – time-honored favorites as well as pieces the audience may be hearing for the first time – takes center stage, Moyer punc- tuates his virtuoso playing with brief anecdotes about the composers and his own contagious passion for music in all its forms.
