West Whyalla was formed in 1945 and Roopena and Weeroona Bay joined in 1970, the competition now has six teams. In 1961, the Great Northern Football Association and the Whyalla Football League merged to form the Spencer Gulf football League. It is our hope that we can attend other League games during the season and enjoy not only the football but mixing with the community. A J Donnelly senior, a well-known Burnie identity, took an active interest in sporting activities, community affairs and the history of the North West Coast of Tasmania. His History of the Burnie Athletic Club: 75th birthday souvenir was published in 1962. Like his father, a linotype operator with The Advocate newspaper, young Jack spent his working career with newspapers. For 35 years he worked successively as a senior sports reporter, sub- editor and by 1966 sporting editor with The Examiner in Launceston. His coverage of sporting events included the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, numerous intrastate and interstate football matches (many under the by-line 'Half-Back'), Tours of the North cycling events, Kings Cup rowing contests and other sporting activities. Jack's encyclopaedic knowledge of football, particularly in Tasmania, reflected his great love for the game. In his youth, he played with Burnie, Cooee, APPM, and Launceston, and his Football Guide was published in 1947.

    2020 KEN GANNON COMMUNITY FOOTBALL FACILITIES AWARDS WINNING PROJECT CASE STUDIES FOREWORD Matching supply of venues for our growing game’s needs is one of our sport’s biggest challenges and is a key part of our strategy for the foreseeable future. There is some wonderful work being undertaken around the nation in partnership with many different stakeholders to improve existing venues and develop new precincts. The AFL Ken Gannon Community Football Facilities Awards process annually recognises best practise in community football facility development across Australia, along with the people, clubs and other stakeholders driving our best projects. These awards are funded by the AFL’s Australian Football Facilities Fund which partners on over $50 million worth of projects that benefit more than 100 community football clubs across Australia each year. They will also recognise the incredible service to Australian Football of over four decades by Ken Gannon. In a decorated career across many areas of the game, Ken spent much of his last decade of his career developing the AFL’s interest and partnerships in the community facilities space, leading $500 million of outcomes for more than 800 community football facility projects in that period. The following seven award winning project case studies are remarkable examples of best practise with each aligning strongly to the AFL’s aim of providing well positioned, welcoming, fit for purpose football facilities that support our growing game’s strategic priorities. We trust you enjoy hearing about the stories behind these projects and look to replicate some of these project features in your own community in coming years.

This booklet outlines the programs offered by our Club, in conjunction with the SANFL, the methods used to attract players to the elite program and the support offered to clubs and schools to ensure as many people as possible are playing Australian Rules Football. This booklet will therefore ensure that all relevant parties in the football community are clear on what North Adelaide offers and how you can access these programs. In 2003 the SANFL restructured their football operations and as a result several programs that were run by SANFL clubs are now run by the SANFL. Craig Oliphant is the SANFL Game Development Coordinator (Northern) who works closely with the NAFC Talent Manager, to promote football within the Northern Areas Football Association, Spencer Gulf Football League and from 2018 the Whyalla Football League.

    APPENDIX 4 APPROVED PLAYER POINTS SYSTEM (“APPS”) 1. Basis of the APPS The basis of the APPS is as follows: 1.1 An Affiliated League Club must not field players in its Senior (A Grade) Team in any game which exceed the total points which have been allocated to that Club under the Total Points Rating. (Refer clause 2.1 below). 1.2 The APPS will only apply to Senior (A grade) Teams. 1.3 “Junior Football” means a competition in which players must be under the age of 18 years on a prescribed date in the calendar year in which that competition is conducted. 1.4 “Junior Player” means a player under the age of 18 years who has played a minimum of 25 games from the year in which he turns 13 years of age with the Club of an Affiliated League with which he is seeking registration. 1.5 A player who is the child of a Club Life Member can be registered with that same club and they will attract zero (0) points. 2. Total Points Rating 2.1 Each Affiliated League Club will be allocated a “Total Points Rating of up to and including 15 points” for each Season based on the position on the premiership table of each clubs Senior Team at the end of the preceding Season, or on such other criteria as may be approved by the Board Example: Clubs which finished at the top of the premiership table at the end of the preceding season will be allocated a lower Total Points Rating then those Clubs finishing at the lower end of the premiership table which will be allocated a higher Total Points Rating.
