The Year-End-Series (YES) new play festival was honored in the arts organization category for " presenting premieres of new plays and encouraging young playwrights by offering a production forum for their works," reported the office of university publications. The YES Festival, created in 1983, was the brainchild of Jack Wann, NKU theater director, and Jim Stacey, a former colleague. Wann said that he and Stacey came up with the "idea" six years ago to give "struggling playwrights the op portunity they needed to get plays produced." Wann commented that NKU has become a "springboard" for young playwrights. "We learn from them as well as they do from us," said Wann. NKU receives about 300 entries a year for the festival. The YES Festival is produced every other year during spring semester.
