The energy demand in Indonesia increases due to a significant growth in population, this fact has diminished the fossil fuel storage as our main non renewable energy source. Recently, there are a lot of researches on renewable energy; one of the most prominent is the development of bioethanol as a result of fermentation of sugar or starch containing materials. Palm sugar as one of the natural sugar sources can be obtained from most of palm trees such as coconut, aren, nipah, and siwalan. This paper explored the potential of Siwalan palm sugar development to be converted into bioethanol as renewable energy source through fermentation and purification processes. Siwalan palm sugar contains 8.658 ml ethanol out of 100 ml palm sugar liquid processed using fermentation and distillation. Bioethanol can further utilized as fuel when it is mixed with gasoline that called gasohol. In the future, it is expected that gasohol can replace gasoline consumption as an alternative energy that can be competitive in term of price in Indonesia. -

The topic is going to be " Unusual and Rare Fruit Trees that Adapt or May Adapt to Cultivation in Florida". There will not be an August meeting. See you in September Our speaker is Berto Silva, a native Brazilian who specializes in growing rare and unusual fruits. Berto was raised in northeast Brazil where he learned to enjoy several different types of fruits. In the last twenty years, he has experimented growing rare and unusual fruits from all over the world including some varieties native to the Amazon region. He has a spectacular jaboticaba arbor at his home in South Ft. Myers. He is an active member with the Bonita Springs Tropical Fruit Club and with the Caloosa Rare Fruit Exchange. Berto’s collection includes myrciarias, eugenias, pouterias, annonas, mangiferas, and campomanesias. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm at the Community Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway in Golden Gate City. The tasting table opens at 7:00 pm. It belongs to Cucurbitaceac family and is India commonly grown in Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia and Philippines. The name snake gourd is given due to its long, slender, twisted and elongated snake-like fruits. It is an annual vine climbing by means of tendrils (Mohammad Pessarakli, 2016). The soft-skinned immature fruit can reach up to 150 cm (59 in) in length. It’s soft, bland, somewhat mucilaginous flesh is similar to that of the luffa and the calabash. It is popular in the cuisines of South and Southeast Asia and is now grown in some home gardens in Africa. With some cultivars, the immature fruit has an unpleasant odor and a slightly bitter maturity, but it does contain a reddish pulp that is used in Africa as a substitute for tomatoes.
