Mt. Pleasant and Westmoreland County: Area Overview
Recent Additions to Neighborhood Westmoreland County is just one of the counties in the region that is seeing an influx of growth due in large part to the Marcellus Shall drilling boom of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Many new firms are looking to Westmoreland County to locate their businesses due to the ideally central location to the drilling sites.
In May 2010, PUMPCO Energy Services has agreed to build a 25,000 to 30,000 SF main building as well as 10,000 to 20,000 SF warehouse building on 31.5 acres at the I-70 Industrial Park in South Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County. The Texas based firm provides oil and natural gas well cementing and stimulation services and will employ nearly 100 people within the next three years.
Allied Technologies, a Texas based manufacturing firm, has recently agreed to locate its first Eastern United States plant in South Huntingdon, Westmoreland County. The 30,000 SF plant will cost approximately $7.5 million to build and is expected to employ at least 100 people. Allied Technologies, who is planning on manufacturing and distributing pipes and pressure vessels for natural gas extraction is receiving $247,900 from the State Department of Community and Economic Development.
Baker Hughes an oil and gas service firm who is also based in Houston Texas, started construction in the spring of 2009 on their $12 million drilling service center. The 70,000 SF office and warehouse facilities in New Stanton, Westmoreland Technology Park will also include 10 acres of land for open storage.
