National Olympic Records As of July 2021 USA Shooting NATIONAL OLYMPIC RECORDS As of July 2021 USA Shooting recognizes national records for each ISSF, special event, and developmental events recognized by USA Shooting. For the junior category, records will be recognized for Junior (open), J2, and J3. Senior, Intermediate Senior, and Veteran Senior category records will also be recognized. To be recognized as a national record, the score must be fired in a USA Shooting recognized special or developmental event or an ISSF event in a USA Shooting sanctioned competition. The competition must have been conducted on facilities that meet all technical requirements for distances, timing, etc. The competitor who fired the record score must be a current USA Shooting member and have used only equipment that completely fulfills all requirements for that event as per the General Technical Rules. If equipment control was not conducted at the beginning of the competition, the competition director may conduct a special equipment control to certify that the competitor’s equipment fulfilled these conditions. National records may not be set in leagues or postal competitions. Individual records may be set in those events that contain a minimum of 5 competitors for any event. Any event fired at a reduced distance with reduced distance targets, must follow all requirements of the official event. (i.e. 50-meter events reduced to 50-feet must follow requirements for the 50-meter event.) Team records have been retired. National records will be recognized if the score is fired in an international competition supervised by the ISSF. The competitor must have been a member of the USA Shooting sponsored team for that activity.     A History of the United States National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championships 1919-2013 By Hap Rocketto August 25, 2013 i Acknowledgement This history is an attempt to capture the events and personalities that make the National Rifle Association’s National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championship such a powerful and interesting story. Covering the years 1919 through 2002 was done under the auspices of the NRA’s publications division, as source material for The National Matches: 1903-2003 The First 100 Years. The reports of the years 2003-2010 were written for, and published by, Precision Shooting Magazine until that publication’s demise and thereafter they were specifically written for this history. This is not a formal history in the sense that bibliography is not appended nor are sources cited. Its originator and chief author, Douglas Farnie, sadly did not live to see its completion and publication. He died in Manchester on 21 June 2008, aged 82, following complications from heart surgery. The first edition of Douglas‟s Bio-Bibliography was published in Pat Hudson (ed.), Living Economic and Social History. Essays to Mark the 75th Anniversary of the Economic History Society (2001). It listed about 700 individuals. Characteristically, Douglas had been expanding and revising it ever since. It went through further editions, each more expansive than the last. This edition covers over 3,500 individuals. My involvement began casually in 2001, when I began passing Douglas obituaries and snippets of information for inclusion. The amount of information gathered pace as I began using electronic sources to fill gaps and to supplement the material that Douglas was still collecting from libraries and paper sources. Douglas never used a computer (or even a typewriter) and always preferred to use a pen. However, the world-wide-web fascinated Douglas and when it became apparent that it could transform the scope of the Bio-Bibliography, we began to collaborate on producing a much expanded fifth edition. A routine developed. From early 2007 until 27 March 2008, we met once a week at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School not only to revise the electronic copy of the Bio- Bibliography, but also to scour the web for new material.

    A History of the United States National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championships 1919-2013 By Hap Rocketto August 25, 2013 i Acknowledgement This history is an attempt to capture the events and personalities that make the National Rifle Association’s National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championship such a powerful and interesting story. Covering the years 1919 through 2002 was done under the auspices of the NRA’s publications division, as source material for The National Matches: 1903-2003 The First 100 Years. The reports of the years thereafter were written for, and published by, Precision Shooting Magazine. This is not a formal history in the sense that bibliography is not appended nor are sources cited. However, much of this story was collected from the rich store of information archived in the written reports found in the shooting journals Arms and the Man, The American Rifleman, Tournament News, Shooting Sports USA, and Precision Shooting Magazine as well as the programs and bulletins of The National Matches and NRA Shooting Trophies.     World Championship Fencing Individual Results by George Masin This report shows the individual event medallists at every FIE World Championship (cadet, junior, senior, and veteran). Fencing World Championship Individual Medalists 1921 European Championships (Paris, FRA - 1921.VI.10-11) Prior to 1921 there were a number of competitions that called themselves World Championships. These were usually challenge matches between two fencers each or both of which called themselves world champions. Prior to the establishment of the Federation Internationale d’Escrime (FIE) in 1913, however, there was no international body to sanction a real world championship. It was not until after World War I and the 1920 Olympic Games, though, that the FIE finally sanctioned a championship. In these early championships, each country was allowed to enter a maximum of eight fencers. From 1921 through 1936 (except in the Olympic years of 1924 and 1928) the FIE sanctioned yearly competitions called the “Championnats d'Europe” (“European Championships”). In spite of their name, non-Europeans were allowed to compete in them and so these competitions are considered to be the first world championships for fencing. It was not until 1937 that the FIE officially changed the name of the competitions from “Championnats d'Europe” to “Championnats du Monde”. Men's Epee Individual (1921.VI.10-11) The European Championships were held as one of the events during the Grande Semaine des Armes de Combat which ran from June 5 to 12 and included the French national fencing championships and other fencing events as well as shooting events.
