NATIONAL RECORDS - Currently Updated USA Shooting NATIONAL RECORDS As of January, 2018 USA Shooting recognizes national records for each ISSF, special event, and developmental events recognized by USA Shooting. For the junior category, records will be recognized for Junior (open), J2, and J3. Senior, Intermediate Senior, and Veteran Senior category records will also be recognized. To be recognized as a national record, the score must be fired in a USA Shooting recognized special or developmental event or an ISSF event in a USA Shooting sanctioned competition. The competition must have been conducted on facilities that meet all technical requirements for distances, timing, etc. The competitor who fired the record score must be a current USA Shooting member and have used only equipment that completely fulfills all requirements for that event as per the General Technical Rules. If equipment control was not conducted at the beginning of the competition, the competition director may conduct a special equipment control to certify that the competitor’s equipment fulfilled these conditions. National records may not be set in leagues or postal competitions. Individual records may be set in those events that contain a minimum of 5 competitors for any event. Any event fired at a reduced distance with reduced distance targets, must follow all requirements of the official event. (i.e. 50-meter events reduced to 50-feet must follow requirements for the 50-meter event.) Team records have been retired. National records will be recognized if the score is fired in an international competition supervised by the ISSF. The competitor must have been a member of the USA Shooting sponsored team for that activity. Coaches and athletes are responsible for notifying USA Shooting of records shot outside of the USA. 1 of 20 USA Shooting NATIONAL RECORDS As of January, 2018 PISTOL RIFLE SHOTGUN 50 METER FREE PISTOL 300 METER FREE RIFLE – 3X40 TRAP MEN & WOMEN 125 TARGETS 25 METER RAPID FIRE PISTOL 300 METER FREE RIFLE – PRONE TRAP WOMEN 75 TARGETS 25 METER CENTER FIRE PISTOL 300 METER STANDARD RIFLE – 3X20 TRAP MEN & WOMEN 250 TARGETS 25 METER STANDARD PISTOL 50 METER SMALLBORE RIFLE – PRONE (INTEGER SCORING) DOUBLE TRAP MEN 150 TARGETS 25 METER SPORT PISTOL 50 METER SMALLBORE RIFLE – PRONE (DECIMAL SCORING) DOUBLE TRAP MEN 300 TARGETS 50 FOOT FREE PISTOL 50 METER SMALLBORE RIFLE – 3 POSITION (KPS) SKEET MEN & WOMEN 125 TARGETS 50 FOOT RAPID FIRE PISTOL 50 FOOT SMALLBORE RIFLE – PRONE (INTEGER SCORING) SKEET WOMEN 75 TARGETS 50 FOOT CENTER FIRE PISTOL 50 FOOT SMALLBORE RIFLE – PRONE (DECIMAL SCORING) SKEET MEN & WOMEN 250 TARGETS 50 FOOT STANDARD PISTOL 50 FOOT SMALLbORE RIFLE – 3 POSITION (KPS) 50 FOOT SPORT PISTOL 10 METER AIR RIFLE - STANDING (INTEGER SCORING) 10 METER AIR PISTOL 10 METER AIR RIFLE – STANDING (DECIMIAL SCORING) *KPS = The new order for shooting 3 position rifle: Kneeling, Prone, Standing USA Shooting recognizes national records in the events listed below. • A History of the United States National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championships 1919-2013
A History of the United States National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championships 1919-2013 By Hap Rocketto August 25, 2013 i Acknowledgement This history is an attempt to capture the events and personalities that make the National Rifle Association’s National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championship such a powerful and interesting story. Covering the years 1919 through 2002 was done under the auspices of the NRA’s publications division, as source material for The National Matches: 1903-2003 The First 100 Years. The reports of the years 2003-2010 were written for, and published by, Precision Shooting Magazine until that publication’s demise and thereafter they were specifically written for this history. This is not a formal history in the sense that bibliography is not appended nor are sources cited. However, much of this story was collected from the rich store of information archived in the written reports found in the shooting journals Arms and the Man, The American Rifleman, Tournament News, Shooting Sports USA, and Precision Shooting Magazine as well as the programs and bulletins of The National Matches and NRA Shooting Trophies. To these writers, the many anonymous NRA staff writers who reported on the events at Camp Perry without a byline, Kendrick Scofield, Edward C. Crossman, Walter Stokes, C.S. Landis, Stephen Trask, David North, Jack Rohan, L.J. Hathaway, F.C. Ness, C.B. Lister, Robert D. Hatcher, John Schofield, Ron Stann, Paul Cardinal, Frank J. “Al Blanco” Kahrs, Paul Pierpoint, Alan C. Winning and Losing Epilogue: The Quest Never Ends Career at a Glance Index Acknowledgements Photographs Fellow Shooters on Abhinav Bindra About the Authors Copyright by Rohit Brijnath o understand Abhinav Bindra’s uniqueness, to weigh what he achieved, to acknowledge wThere he went, requires a quick glance at history. For over a century, India has chased Olympic gold. Games after Games. Rowers and swimmers. Archers and runners. Boxers and wrestlers. All that dreaming, desire, talent, so much of it beautiful, always coming up short. Gold just refusing to come in an individual sport till it had the smell of a curse about it. Every successive Olympics, the pressure builds, the questions come, the absurdity of it all grows. Burundi had one, as did Luxembourg, the UAE, Hong Kong. Not India. Eventually, the gold medal sits there like a tease. It becomes an insinuation of mediocrity, it corrodes ambitions, it settles like a psychological weight in the athletic mind.
