HUGH W. WYLIE RANGE AT CONVERSE HALL In 1875 the Ohio State University shooting facilities were at what is now the Ohio State Fair Grounds. Since that time the shooting range has been in several locations on campus. In 1966 the present range in Converse Hall was dedicated by President Novice G. Fawcett in honor of Lt. Hugh W. Wylie. Lt. Wylie, of Circleville, Ohio, was a graduate of Ohio State and a member of the Army ROTC. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division in North Africa, Italy and Holland. On Sept. 17, 1944, Lt. Wylie was killed near Arheim, Holland in the battle that inspired the book and movie A Bridge to Far. The Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range is a 20-point range set for 50-foot and 10-meter shooting with respective .22 caliber ammunition and preci- sion air guns. An elevator was placed in service in 2000 to accomodate handicapped students and competitive shooters. 2 OHIO STATE RIFLE @OHIOSTATERIFLE MEET THE BUCKEYES JACOB BUCHANAN ELIZABETH DUTTON Jr. | Spring, Texas So. | Derry, N.H. 2017-18 (Sophomore): 2017-18 (Freshman): • All-American (air rifle, smallbore, combined) • All-American (smallbore) • Member of the counting team that holds the • Shot as a member of the counting team as a 4711 team aggregate record (1/21/19 at TCU) true freshman for 12/16 events for smallbore and • Member of the counting team that holds the 11/16 for air rifle 2336 team smallbore record (1/21/19 at TCU) • Held season averages of • Shot as a member of the counting team for 13/16 events in smallbore and 15/106 in air rifle 579.4 Smallbore • Held season averages of 587.6 Air Rifle -580.5 Smallbore (Team High) 1167 Aggregate -590.3 Air Rifle • Opened the season and hit the ground running for her freshman -1171 Aggregate (Team High) season with a team-best on the day in smallbore with a score of 582 • Shot a team-high of 593 on the day in air rifle at Alaska on 10/13 • Shot all around team-high scores on the day against Nevada with • Shot a team-high for the match against Nevada with a 593 in air rifle a smallbore score of 577, an air rifle score of 588 and an aggregate • Fired back-to-back team-high scores for the match against Air score of 1166 Force with and 1173 aggregate score on 11/18 and an 1175 ag- gregate score on 11/19 PRIOR TO OHIO STATE: • Five-time National Junior Olympic Qualifier 2016-17 (Freshman): • CRCA Scholastic All-American • 2016 High School Smallbore All-American • OSU Scholar-Athlete • 2015 Drew Cup Team, Dewar Team, Randle Team • Held season averages of: -573.4 Smallbore PERSONAL: -589 Air Rifle • Medical Dietetics major -1162 Aggregate • Shot for the team in every event, including the NCAA Championship • Fired a 579 in smallbore in his first collegiate event at Nevada ARIEL HALL • Posted the first of his three season-high aggregates of 1171 at West Virginia behind a solid 593 air rifle Fr. | Keller, Texas • Shot a season-high 580 in smallbore at Nebraska • Matched that 580 two events later at UTEP en route to a second PRIOR TO OHIO STATE: season-high aggregate of 1171 • Won TSRA Outdoor State Championship • Had a season-best 595 air rifle on day one at Air Force (2014) • Also had a 595 air rifle at TCU and would finish with his third 1171 • Won overall Air Rifle and 3×20 Smallbore at aggregate of the year • Shot 590 and 589 in air rifle at the PRC Championship and NCAA Canadian Nationals (2016) Qualifier • 2nd in J2 category in at National Junior • Finished the year with scores of 577 in smallbore and 588 in air Olympics for 3×20 Smallbore (2016) rifle at his first NCAA Championship PRIOR TO OHIO STATE: PERSONAL: • Had only been shooting five years prior to arriving on camp • Daughter of Anthony and Julie Hall • Started his career at the Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Club • Has a brother, Gregory • Overall Champion at the 2014 NRA Conventional 3-Position • Biology major Championship, set four national records, and became the youngest winner in event history • Earned his CMP Junior Distinguished Badge for excellence in three-position Air Rifle in 2014 • Gold medalist at the 2015 Junior Olympics Smallbore 3-Postion Championship and the 2015 Junior Olympics Smallbore Prone Championship • Silver medalist for his age group at the 2015 Junior Olympics Air Rifle Championship • Member of the US Junior National Team • Competed in his first international competition in Suh, Germany at the ISSF Junior World Cup where he helped the men’s junior team win a silver medal in Smallbore 3-position • Holds 6 national records in both NRA and USA Shooting PERSONAL: • Son of Bill and Cassandra • Has one older sister, Kristin • Hopes to continue shooting on the international level after gradu- ation 3 OHIO STATE RIFLE @OHIOSTATERIFLE MEET THE BUCKEYES MICA HARR ALLI KISSELL So. | Harrisburg, Pa. 2015 Annual Report 614-297-0533 • [email protected] 677 E. 11th Avenue • Columbus, OH 43211 LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND 2015 BOARD PRESIDENT Dear Friends, During 2015, NNEMAP was faced with formidable challenges, but at the same time experienced exciting blessings. Foremost, the location where we had served since the mid-eighties, the old 3rd Avenue Methodist Church, was sold. Our landlord was Directions For Youth and Families. Their mission of serving local youth had changed as the Short North had gentrified over the years. They decided to sell the building to find another home. Roy Clark Executive The Ingram White Castle Foundation had given us their GROW award in Director 2014 and allowed us to use a portion of their grant for a down payment on a property in South Linden. Our new location had many advantages. It was handicap accessible, had triple the parking, was air conditioned, had a walk- in cooler, was on a bus line, and most importantly moved us closer to the needs of that community. The move was a costly one for NNEMAP. Again, we were blessed to be able to cover all of those costs with the generous support of the Helen Sells Clarkson Foundation at The Columbus Foundation and the Trinity United Methodist Church Foundation. South Linden is a priority neighborhood for the City of Columbus, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and many other social agencies in the city. This move placed NNEMAP in a great location, at a great time, and an important moment in Jon Bennett our history. We believe with the support of our many churches, other com- 2015 Board munity partners, and valued volunteers that we are poised to make a real dif- President ference in the lives of our South Linden neighbors and other areas we serve.

  • A History of the United States National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championships 1919-2013
A History of the United States National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championships 1919-2013 By Hap Rocketto August 25, 2013 i Acknowledgement This history is an attempt to capture the events and personalities that make the National Rifle Association’s National Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Championship such a powerful and interesting story. Covering the years 1919 through 2002 was done under the auspices of the NRA’s publications division, as source material for The National Matches: 1903-2003 The First 100 Years. The reports of the years 2003-2010 were written for, and published by, Precision Shooting Magazine until that publication’s demise and thereafter they were specifically written for this history. This is not a formal history in the sense that bibliography is not appended nor are sources cited. However, much of this story was collected from the rich store of information archived in the written reports found in the shooting journals Arms and the Man, The American Rifleman, Tournament News, Shooting Sports USA, and Precision Shooting Magazine as well as the programs and bulletins of The National Matches and NRA Shooting Trophies. To these writers, the many anonymous NRA staff writers who reported on the events at Camp Perry without a byline, Kendrick Scofield, Edward C. Crossman, Walter Stokes, C.S.
