Role: News Producer- VICE News Reporting to: London Bureau Chief- VICE News

Overview:

VICE is the world’s preeminent youth media company and content creation studio. Launched in 1994, VICE now operates in over 30 countries and distributes its programming to hundreds of millions of viewers across digital, linear, mobile, film and socials. VICE includes an international network of digital channels, a television and feature film production studio, a magazine, a record label, an in-house creative services agency, a book-publishing division and a new 24-hour TV channel, VICELAND, launched in in the UK and Ireland in September 2016.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced TV news producer with a strong background in field production to produce news stories for VICE News Tonight on HBO. You will have excellent news judgement, be fizzing with story ideas and be a creative force in storytelling and film production.

Responsibilities:  To originate, research and produce outstanding news films to the highest production and news values for VICE News TV and News website content in the office and in the field.  In conjunction with an AP, provide detailed research and development into stories on various topics with a focus on UK and European content  To find appropriate contributors and interviewees, and other sources of material (archive etc) and/or actuality.  Responsible for driving forward and setting up commissioned material, ensuring that it is delivered to deadlines.  Organise and evaluate the content for assigned news stories, thinking through and around editorial problems, developing alternative strategies when necessary.  Oversee associate producer and production assistant assigned to segment  Liaise closely with editorial colleagues in the New York office in various departments such as graphics.  Scriptwriting in accordance with the style of the Vice News Tonight show  Work with Production Manager to ensure required personnel are booked and budget is in place according to the commissioned piece and a schedule is determined for delivery.  Work with Post Manager to ensure edits are booked and post deliverables can be met according to the schedule.  Able to react to breaking news and working under pressure.  Networking and representing VICE as needed at various events  Foreign travel will be necessary, often at short notice.  Write accompanying news stories for the web and short form video Other:  To undertake such other tasks including general administrative duties as may be required from time to time  To be an ambassador for the business at all times.
