QUICK / BEST Settings for Micromod ATSC

IMPORTANT > Read Me First :

1) When you connect your Source, the ALARM LED must go off.

If the Alarm LED is on, you should configure your video source first, as its video might be set to a format not allowed when you distribute through the coax cable using the TV antenna receivers ( / 720P / /p @ 59.94 frames per second American FCC TV )

2) If the ALARM LED is on, there is not signal on the output to the coax

3) There are no settings to change to make the ALARM go off This is Hardware only and detects if the video signal on the input is Valid to deliver over the coax cables If your current Video source does not turn off the Alarm, test another video source, like a DVD or Bluray from any main brand. NOT A COMPUTER at first. For HDMI make sure that ENCODER>VIDEO>INTERFACE is set to HDMI

4) For your first test, use a standard DVD or BLURAY Disc Player. Do Not Use a computer style video source at first !

5) Make a simple Test Bench at first, with a Test TV directly connected with a short piece of coax. Then when everything is set and working as you need, you can connect to the final distribution system.

6) DIRECT TV SET TOP BOX CONNECTION :

Set the direct tv first as follows for the max quality and proper operation SETTINGS>DISPLAY>VIDEO > native=ON / SCREEN= original SETTINGS>DISPLAY>TV RESOLUTION > select 1080i and ONLY all other resolution checkbox must be UNSELECTED note: if your TVs are not FULL HD 1080, then you must select 720p so the distribution will be in 720p only and your 720p TVs will decode it

Set any other source you might want to use, the same as the bluray or output format as above, so it will work the same

Micromod Menu Navigation & Best Default Settings : a) Click ENABLE b) Navigate UP/DOWN - click ENTER c) SET/CHANGE parameters d) Click ENABLE again > SAVE > then enter

1) ENCODER / VIDEO / INTERFACE = HDMI you can change here to Component or Composite should you use composite, the RED rca out of the RGB is the cvbs input

2) ENCODER / VIDEO / CC SWITCH = ON turn this on if your cvbs has closed caption, or you plan to input closed caption via cvbs and vide via HDMI

3) ENCODER / VIDEO / FORMAT = MPEG2

4) ENCODER / VIDEO / BITRATE = 15.000 MEGABITS

5) ENCODER / VIDEO / B FRAME = 1

6) ENCODER / VIDEO / P FRAME = 6

7) ENCODER / AUDIO / FORMAT = DOLBY IF your source is set to compressed bitstream you can set this to PASS-THROUGH

8) ENCODER / AUDIO / CHANNEL = HDMI You can set analog here in case you need digital video and analog audio from the L/R RCAs

9) ENCODER / PROGRAM INFO / VCN / MAJOR CHANNEL = 1 this is the number the program will take on your tv. Say 1.xx

10) ENCODER / PROGRAM INFO / VCN / MINOR CHANNEL = 1 this is the Sub number the program will take on your tv. Say xx.1

11) ENCODER / PROGRAM INFO / VCN / SHORT NAME = NAMEYOUWANT this is the name which will pop up on your tv when you switch to this channel

12) MODULATOR / FREQUENCY / 195.000 ( this is channel 10 – for more frequencies see the value to set here at the end of this manual )

13) STREAM / VCT / INSERT = YES

14) STREAM / EIT / INSERT = YES

Test your Micromod as on next page >

Test your Micromod As Follows

T1) Connect your video source – ALARM LED MUST GO OFF

T2) See on the display the frequency 195 on top right

T3) See on the display the current BITRATE ( 15.000 variable – NOT Zero )

T4) Connect directly your TV with the antenna mode in OFF AIR ATSC Digital TV mode

T5) Scan for the channel – ATSC OFF AIR

If you need LOW DELAY MODE :

A) ENCODER / VIDEO / LOW DELAY = MODE1 B) ENCODER / VIDEO / B FRAME = 0 C) ENCODER / VIDEO / P FRAME = 14

NOTE :If your is not fast enough, select LOW DELAY = MODE 2

NOTE :If also Mode2 is too fast for your TV, you can select LOW DELAY = MANUAL and the following B FRAME = 0 P FRAME = 14 DTS DELAY = 1 ( you can adjust from fastest 1 to slower 500 to match your max tv ) 1 = 50 milliseconds of encoding on the Micromod side, all the rest is done by the television decoder memory Some Might require you set the RTV value to 500 to fit the TV decoder speed capability

If Your Source Output Compressed Audio :

In the case you can see the video but there is no audio, most likely your video source is outputing a compressed dolby bitstream. You can set the MICROMOD to work with compressed audio as follows :

ENCODER > AUDIO > AUDIO FORMAT > PASSTHROUGH

This will send the audio bistream as is to the tv, and the tv will decode the 5.1 or other formats.

In case this does not work ( the tv cannot decode 5.1 or similar ), please change the video source audio mode to PCM audio, so the micromod receives the regular stereo, and set ENCODER > VIDEO > FORMAT > Dolby AC3 as per our standard setting
