FA Vase Winners: 2002, 2009, 2010 WHITLEY BAY FC BW3 Welcome to Hillheads WHITLEY BAY v CONSETT STL NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION 1 Saturday 19th March 2011 Good afternoon and welcome to Hillheads Park for today’s top of the table STL Northern League game against Consett. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all players, officials and supporters of Consett and I hope they enjoy their afternoon with us. Since our last home game we have battled our way to the Semi Final of the FA Vase for the fourth successive season and have continued our excellent league form with wins at Ashington, , Shildon and Dunston. Tuesday night’s game at Dunston looked like ending our 11 match winning run but the team simply refuse to lie down and two goals in the last three minutes secured an unlikely three points. It is great to have captain David Coulson back in the team after recovering from the cruciate injury he suffered at Barwell almost a year ago and his header that won the game was something special! We are now in a period of top of the table encounters that may well decide our destiny in terms of the League title and promotion prospects. Consett inflicted out heaviest league defeat of the season when we met at Belle Vue in October and they have surprised many by their excellent form which has seen them lead the table for much of the season. We can be in no doubt that this afternoon will provide us with one of our sternest tests of the season, but our own outstanding form since Christmas means that we go into the game with confidence. Let’s hope we witness a game that lives up to the billing of Northern League match of the day! We are due to travel to Bishop Auckland’s new home at Heritage Park on Monday, before concentrating our minds on the FA Vase Semi Final against Poole Town. The away leg next Saturday is all ticket and due to a 2000 capacity, we have been allocated just 300 tickets, so we would advise all fans intending to travel to buy tickets today to avoid disappointment. The return leg here at Hillheads on Saturday April 2nd is not all ticket but it will undoubtedly ease congestion at the turnstiles if as many fans as possible buy tickets ahead of the game. These are now on sale. Finally I would like to thank all Bay fans for your continued fantastic support for the Club.
