SIGMA INTERNATIONAL Epsilon Chapter Research Grant

Purpose: The purpose of this award is to encourage and financially assist members of Epsilon Omega Chapter of Theta Tau International in research endeavors.

Policy: This award is available on an annual basis to any member of the Epsilon Omega Chapter who is conducting nursing research. Monetary amount of the award shall be determined by the Research and Awards Committee dependent on budgetary constraints. Funds may be distributed to more than one individual during each year depending on availability of funds and number of completed applications. Awards will be provided at the spring Induction Ceremony of each year. Decisions to award funds for the same research project will be made by the Executive Board upon receipt of another application form and a progress report of the research.

Procedure: Any interested member should obtain an Application for Research Assistance from the Epsilon Omega Chapter web site.

1. The application is to be submitted to the chairperson of the Research and Awards Committee by January 15 of each year. 2. The Research and Awards Committee, which will consist of at least three members the chapter, will review applications and submit recommendations to the Executive Board of the Chapter by February 15 of each year. 3. Final decisions regarding requests rest with the Executive Board at the spring Board of Directors meeting. 4. All applicants will be notified in writing by March 30 by the president of the chapter of regarding either a positive or negative decision related to financial assistance of the research endeavor. 5. Recipients of the Research Award will be recognized at the Induction Ceremony in the spring and will receive the financial support at this ceremony. 6. Awardees will submit a progress report to the Research and Awards Committee every 6 months (Oct 1 and April 1) describing the progress to date, and expected date of completion of the project. Upon completion of the project, the awardee will submit a summary to the Research and Awards Committee, as well as a report of how the grant monies were spent. 7. Findings from the study are expected to be presented at a regional or national conference of Sigma Theta Tau. The awardee will acknowledge support of Sigma Theta Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter in any publications or presentations based on the project. 8. Upon completion of the project the Research and Awards Committee will share a summary of the research with the Executive Board. 9. If a decision is made not to complete the project, the investigator will return all funds to the Epsilon Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.
