CONSTITUTION OF THE EPSILON CHAPTER

THE ALPHA NATIONAL THEATRE HONORARY SOCIETY

Article 1 ​ Purpose

The purposes of this, the Alpha Epsilon Lambda Chapter of ALPHA PSI OMEGA is to stimulate interest in theatre activities at The Ohio State University and to secure for the university all the advantages and mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honor society. By electing students to membership the society provides a reward for their participation in theatre activities of the university. The Chapter is not intended to take the place of any existing theatre organization.

Article 2

Requirements

Section 1. To be eligible for membership in this Chapter of ALPHA PSI OMEGA the student ​ must be regularly enrolled in this university.

Section 2. The student must meet the following qualification standards. ​ (a) Participation in theatre work. (b) A minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 or better. (d) Participation in a variety of production tasks (acting, directing, playwriting, ​ ​ front-of-house management, technical theatre, dramaturgy, production research, and other appropriate theatrical responsibilities).

Article 3

Election to Membership

Section 1. Candidates will be elected to membership by the active membership of the Chapter. ​

Article 4

Officers and Duties**

Section 1. The officers of this Chapter will be the President, the Vice-President, Treasurer, and ​ Secretary. Section 2. The President will call meetings, preside at all Chapter meetings, approve committee ​ nominations and have general supervision of the affairs of the Chapter.

Section 3. The Vice-President preside at meetings, keep the Chapter roll, carry out the ​ correspondence of the Chapter, and in the absence of the President assume his/her responsibilities.

Section 4. The Treasurer will collect all dues from members, pay bills sanctioned by the Chapter, keep ​ an account of all receipts and expenditures of the Chapter, and present a report of the same at each Chapter meeting.

Section 5. The Secretary will will keep an accurate record of all proceedings at meetings ​ **All duties listed here may be shared, swapped, and strategized accordingly. Theatre is collaborative and so is the work we do.

Article 5

Election of Officers

Section 1. Officers for the following year will be elected at a regular spring meeting and formally ​ installed by the incumbent officers.

Section 2. Officers will be elected to a majority vote of the Chapter. ​ Section 3. If an elected officer does not return to school, a new officer will be elected to fill the vacancy ​ at the first meeting of the year.

Article 6

Meetings

Section 1. There will be at least one regular meeting where all members of the Chapter are invited ​ ​ each semester. Attendance by all chapter members is not required.

Section 2. Special meetings may be called at any time by the President or at the request of the Faculty ​ Advisor.

Section 3. Active involvement is expected of all Alpha Psi Omega members. ​

Article 7

Initiation, Fees, and Assessments

Section 1. There will be an initiation fee of thirty (35) dollars which must be paid before any pledge can ​ ​ be initiated. (Required national dues are thirty (35) dollars)

Section 2. Special assessments may be levied on members only by a two-thirds vote of the active ​ membership.

Article 8

Amendments

Section 1. This constitution may be revised by a unanimous vote of officers during the annual ​ period of constitution revision. Afterwhich, the revised constitution will be presented to all Chapter members and any complaints can be brought to the officers within two weeks before the constitution goes into permanent effect.

Article 9

By-Laws

Section 1. Additional by-laws may be adopted at any Chapter meeting by a majority vote of the ​ active membership.

Section 2. The Chapter will keep an accurate record of each member. ​

Article 10

National Policies

Section 1. National policy on invitation-to-join the membership and induction period and ​ Induction ceremony must be adhered to by all chapters.

Section 2. The National Office has a zero tolerance hazing policy. Chapters must adhere to the ​ national policy of Alpha Psi Omega, as well as their college/university’s and/or state policies on hazing.

Article 12

Non-discrimination Policy

Any member affiliated with Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honorary at The Ohio State University shall not discriminate against any individual based upon protected status, which is defined as age, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
