Constitution and Bylaws

Article – Name ​ The official name shall be Epsilon Eta, Environmental Honors Fraternity, Chapter at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh campus, hereafter referred to as Epsilon Eta.

Article II - Purpose ​ The purpose of Epsilon Eta is to foster awareness of the intrinsic relationship between people and their environment through academics, the community, and ​ ​ ​ ​ service. Epsilon Eta seeks to create a networking environment that enables ​ members to utilize the fraternity’s resources to enhance their actions as stewards of the environment.

Article III – Insignia ​ Section 1. The official emblem of the fraternity shall be a light green shield with a ​ dark green emblem of leaf veins on half with an overlaying tree.

Section 2. The coat of arms shall be that officially adopted by the Charter and ​ chapters of Epsilon Eta.

Section 3. The pattern copies of the key and coat of arms kept by Epsilon Eta ​ shall be the official design.

Section 4. The colors of Epsilon Eta shall be kelly green, sky blue, and navy blue. ​ Article IV – Membership ​ Section 1. The following membership requirements are standardized by the ​ University of Pittsburgh.

1. Membership is open to currently enrolled Pitt students as defined herein.

2. All members must accept and comply with all of the requirements and limitations of registration as a condition of membership.

3. Membership in the Epsilon Eta fraternity is voluntary and all risk of personal injury, property damage, or other losses that occur during any organization hosted event or affiliated activity are not the responsibility of the organization. Neither the University of Pittsburgh, or any affiliates shall be held responsible for any claims or causes of action for damage, loss, or destruction of personal property or injury as a result of an individual’s voluntary participation in an organization sponsored or related activity. It is further understood and agreed that it is the sole responsibility to the officers of the organization to ensure that all members and non-member participants in all activities sponsored by Epsilon Eta are fully informed of this Assumption of Risk. Furthermore, in the event any individual member or participant should express or indicate non-acceptance, or hazing, the organization’s officers shall forbid that individuals further participation/membership. In regard to the organization member or non-member participant Assumption of Risk, Epsilon Eta acknowledges that the University recommends that the organization members and non-member participants make every effort to arrange for the acquisition of liability insurance sufficient to protect all participants against those risks being assumed.

4. No hazing or illegal discriminatory criteria for membership, including those listed in the University of Pittsburgh’s non-discrimination policy, will be used as a condition for membership in the organization. These factors include race, color, religion (except for religious organizations which may restrict membership to those who share their faith-based beliefs), national origin, ancestry, sex (except same-sex organizations permitted under Title IX), age, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, genetic information, disability, or status as a veteran. This non-discriminatory policy will be applied in a manner consistent with the requirements of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and other laws applicable to student organizations.

5. All current members, including pledges, ally and brother members, shall sign a waiver that will be kept on file by the Chapter before participating in Chapter activities including but not limited to camping, hiking and service events.

Section 2. The following membership requirements are standardized by the Alpha ​ Chapter of Epsilon Eta.

1. The membership shall be divided into four classes: brother, ally, pledge, and alumni. Epsilon Eta is a non-discriminating organization that does not consider age, race, color, creed, sex, national origin, or sexual preference.

2. Brother members: ​ a. Shall be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at the University of Pittsburgh. b. Shall have and maintain a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA and be in good academic standing with the university. c. Brother members are required to attend 2 weekly organized study hours. d. Shall have completed at least 1 semester of a four-year curriculum or its equivalent. . Only brother members may hold the constitutionally specified chapter offices and represent the chapter. f. Applications will be reviewed each semester by an admissions council consisting of Epsilon Eta brother members with recommendations taken into consideration by the faculty advisory board. g. Acceptance will be determined by academics, demonstration of dedication and leadership in the environmental community, provided references and consequential application strength, and observed potential in the Epsilon Eta community via rush events. . Brother members are required to participate in one fraternity service project per semester, as well as log 8 hours of environmentally-related community service. i. If 8 hours of service are not completed during a semester, the member will still be a brother member the following semester. The service hours required from him/her will be the standard 8 hours plus double the hours /she did not complete the previous semester. ii. If such a member is unable to complete these rollover service hours, he/she will become an ally member the following semester but will not be expected to make up the hours from the previous year’s requirements. j. Brother members are required to attend 80% of the chapter meetings held once weekly. If a member misses more than 20% of the chapter meetings per semester, they are subject to review for probation by the officers. k. Brother members are required to attend two professional development sessions provided or approved by Epsilon Eta. These can be organized by the Executive Board of Epsilon Eta, the University of Pittsburgh, or a local environmentally-oriented nonprofit organization or company. Attending one professional presentation can be replaced by giving a presentation to Epsilon Eta. This presentation would include research, internships, and/or future professional pursuits in an environmental career. l. Brother members are required to attend a minimum of one chapter-organized brotherhood event hosted by Epsilon Eta, Delta chapter.

3. Ally Members: Ally members shall be those undergraduates whose interests include environmental issues in some way but who are ineligible for brother membership due to a decline in their GPA or inability to meet service hour requirements. Ally members may participate in all Epsilon Eta activities except those specifically reserved to brother members by this constitution.

Ally members are intended to uphold the same values and requirements as brother members. Additionally, ally members will be held accountable for the following requirements:

a. In addition to 2 required study hours, ally members will be required to log 3 extra hours of study time organized weekly, for a total average of 5 weekly study hours per month. b. Ally members will be required to complete 6 hours of community service and participate in the semester service project. c. Should an Ally member be unable to complete their community service hours, the unfulfilled hours will carry over to the following semester. If these requirements are not fulfilled after the following semester, the Ally member will be considered by Epsilon Eta for expulsion the following semester. d. Should an Ally member be unable to complete their study hours, the unfulfilled hours will carry over to the following week. If these requirements are consistently unfulfilled on a monthly basis, the Ally member will be considered by Epsilon Eta for expulsion at the end of the current semester. e. Ally members are required to attend a minimum of one chapter-organized brotherhood event hosted by Epsilon Eta, Delta chapter. f. Ally members are able to hold committee chair positions, but not board positions.

5. Members that are studying abroad will not be held accountable for completing the requirements but are still associated with Epsilon Eta. Members studying abroad are not required to pay dues to the Delta chapter. They are expected to maintain values and accept their role as a member while abroad to uphold the standards of Epsilon Eta.

6. Graduating members will be held accountable for their requirements until graduation day. Graduating members who do not complete their requirements will not receive a chord or other form of graduation attire from Epsilon Eta.

Section 3. Finances. Fees for the semester for pledge, brother, and ally members shall ​ ​ ​ be forty dollars. Dues shall be paid to the Treasurer at a determined time or upon request by the Treasurer. Failure to pay dues in a timely manner shall result in a ten dollar penalty. Any member refusing to pay dues may be expelled from the fraternity upon a majority vote of the membership.

a. Epsilon Eta shall fully comply with the University fundraising policies and procedures for registered student organizations. b. Epsilon Eta will not maintain an outside bank account if it receives funding from the University of Pittsburgh or the Student Government Board. c. Fees for Epsilon Eta will be used to pay for rush events, formal events, public outreach for professional development, and other activities sponsored by Epsilon Eta.

Section 4. Alumni members may be associated with Epsilon Eta indefinitely and are ​ required to give a non-collegiate email to be reached after graduating from the undergraduate program.

Section 5. Brother and alumni members may wear the official insignia and shall remain ​ members for life. Ally members are affiliated with the Delta chapter, however they may not wear the official insignia as they cannot represent Epsilon Eta via email, report, public assembly, etc. Unless they qualify for Brother membership, this affiliation shall terminate automatically when they cease to be undergraduate students. Section 6. Membership of each brother shall be reviewed every semester by a ​ committee made up of the fraternity’s elected officers. Academic standing and service hour expectations must be met to maintain membership. An unofficial transcript must be submitted after grades are closed every semester to confirm academic standing. (Only the executive board will review this transcript, and the executive board will document the member’s GPA value before disposal. The executive board will retain the GPA values for the entirety of the member’s relationship with Epsilon Eta.) Otherwise the member must withdraw or become an ally member until the criterion is met. In order for an ally member to become a Brother member, the ally member must complete the requirements of a Brother member but will be considered an ally member for the academic term(s) of pursuing a Brother membership.

Section 7. A brother or ally member of the chapter may be removed from chapter ​ membership only for cause by a 2/3 majority vote by the entirety of Epsilon Eta.

Section 8. A cap on the incoming rush class of any semester shall be set at the start of ​ each semester. All applicants must submit their academic standing with the University to Epsilon Eta as part of their application to ensure that they have above a 2.0 GPA.

1. Applications will be reviewed each semester by an admissions council consisting of Epsilon Eta brother members with recommendations taken into consideration by the faculty advisory board. ​ 2. Acceptance will be determined by academics, demonstration of dedication and leadership in the environmental community, provided references and consequential application strength, and observed potential in the Epsilon Eta community via Rush Week Events. Rush Week is intended to be diverse and open to members who wish to join the Delta chapter. An attendance requirement shall be set prior to Rush Week to offer bids to pledges. 3. Rushes must receive 2/3 of the fraternity’s vote to receive a bid to pledge Epsilon Eta. 4. The pledging process to Epsilon Eta will commence immediately following rush and will last the duration of the semester. The pledging semester is intended to allow pledges the opportunity to learn more about the mission and values of Epsilon Eta and to begin growing with the fraternity. 5. Pledges are expected to uphold the same values as Ally and Brother members. a. Shall be enrolled as a full or part time student at the University of Pittsburgh b. Pledges are required to attend 80% of the weekly chapter meetings. c. Must attend 80% of weekly Pledge Meetings and participate in activities intended to familiarize pledges with Epsilon Eta as outlined by the Pledgemaster. i. Activities are intended to reflect the values of Epsilon Eta and promote the pillars of Epsilon Eta ii. Activities are highly encouraged for pledges to become familiarized with the organization of the fraternity and its members. iii. Possible activities include but are not limited to: organizing brotherhood dinners, case studies and presentations, ice-breakers at the beginnings of meetings, and discussions and debates. d. Must average 5 weekly organized study hours per month. e. Pledges are required to participate in one fraternity service project per semester, as well as log 6 hours of environmentally-related community service. f. Pledges are required to attend two professional development sessions provided or approved by Epsilon Eta. These can be organized by the Executive Board of Epsilon Eta, the University of Pittsburgh, or a local environmentally-oriented nonprofit organization or company. Attending one professional presentation can be replaced by giving a presentation to Epsilon Eta. This presentation would include research, internships, and/or future professional pursuits in an environmental career. g. Pledges are required to attend a minimum of one chapter-organized brotherhood event hosted by Epsilon Eta, Delta chapter h. Pledges are required to plan and participate in a pledge-organized event held during the pledge semester. i. Following a second-vote by brother members, ⅔ vote shall determine a final stance on pledges to become brother or ally members of the fraternity. Following this second vote, Big/Little reveal can occur. j. All members of the Pledge class for the semester are required to have a standing GPA with the University of Pittsburgh prior to initiation. I.e., first-semester Freshman in the pledge class require the whole of the pledge class to wait until the following semester for initiation to occur. i. Pledges are disallowed from voting on any fraternity matters until after they are initiated. ii. The President, Vice-President and Pledgemaster will be the presiding officers at the Initiation Ritual which shall consist minimally of the following: 1. Verbal expression of the total tallies of requirements that the pledges all participated in. 2. Signing of the role book - printed name and signature on the pledge class’ page in the role book. 3. A painted handprint on the official chapter banner to signify the imprint they have on the chapter. 4. Group recitation of the purpose of Epsilon Eta (see Article II).

6. A second vote will be held before the end of the pledging semester where fraternity members will vote to continue or discontinue an individual’s pledging semester based on the pledge’s participation in and attitude towards fraternity events as well as how well the pledge is able to uphold the values of Epsilon Eta. Pledges must receive 2/3 of the fraternity’s vote in order to finish the pledging process, otherwise they will be dismissed from the organization and their affiliation with Epsilon Eta and all of its entities will terminate at the time of the dismissal. 7. Pledges must complete their semester reflection post completion of the pledging semester but prior to initiation. Pledges may not be initiated as new members if this reflection is not completed. 8. Upon satisfactory completion of all pledging requirements and submission of an unofficial transcript, Pledges will be initiated as Brother or Ally Members per their GPA. 9. Fall pledge classes containing any freshman students may not be initiated until the spring semester by which time all pledges will have an established GPA.

Article V – Officers ​ Section 1. The Executive Board is composed of the officers of Epsilon Eta, which are the ​ President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Chair, Professional Development Chair, Pledgemaster, Service Chair, and Brotherhood Chair. The last two most recent Presidents have the option of remaining on as advisors to the current Executive Board.

Section 2. The President shall be the chief executive and administrative officer, leading ​ all activities of Epsilon Eta. The President shall preside over chapter meetings and shall ensure that all officers perform their respective duties. The President is in charge of fraternity logistics and establishing relationships with other campus groups, advisors etc.

Section 3. In the event of absence, death, resignation, disqualification or removal from ​ office of the President, the Vice President shall assume the duties of the President.

Section 4. The Vice-President shall assist the President on such duties that may be ​ requested by the President. The Vice-President will also oversee the activities of the other chairs. The Vice-President will be responsible for coordinating and working with the Brotherhood, Service, and Professional Development Board members as well as all current committee chairs. The Vice-President will also organize group-wide programs (e.g. Green Certifications, Speakers, etc) and will be overall responsible for the smooth running of member activities. Upon significant expansion of the Epsilon Eta Fraternity nationwide, further expansion will default to the national executive board.

Section 5. The Treasurer shall be responsible for collecting dues managing all financial ​ matters, including budget development. The Treasurer shall keep records of all financial transactions and provide reports to the members as requested.

Section 6. The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping and submitting all necessary ​ minutes and records to the President. The Secretary shall also be responsible for sending out monthly updates to all members on requirements progress, keep track of member participation in weekly study hours and keep attendance at chapter meetings and events. The Secretary shall send out a weekly email after each meeting with minutes and any other necessary information or resources.

Section 7. The Public Relations Chair shall keep the Epsilon Eta webpage updated and ​ manage social media presence. The Public Relations Chair shall also be in charge of documenting fraternity events and socials for historical purposes. The chair also will oversee event logistics and publicity.

a. The Annual Report shall consist of high-level achievements, total service hours produced in the academic year by the chapter, average cumulative GPA of brother members, and portraits of the Delta Chapter graduating class with their academic achievements and long- term plans for impact.

Section 8. The Pledgemaster will be responsible for overseeing all pledge activities and ​ will be required to attend all pledge meetings and development a meaningful curriculum to help the current pledge class integrate into the community at large as well as learn what the full scope of the pillars of Epsilon Eta entails.

A. The Pledgemaster will be responsible for developing the semester pledge application in conjunction with the President, Vice-President and Rush and Recruitment chair B. The Pledgemaster will also be responsible for organizing Big/Little meet and greet activities to allow potential bigs and pledges get to know each other as well as assign big and little pairs, and organize big/little reveal (which should take place after the second vote but before the end of the semester) with the help of the Rush and Recruitment chair. C. The Pledgemaster will be responsible for maintaining records of family trees.

Section 9. The Service Chair is responsible for maintaining relationships with all ​ volunteer coordinators and curating frequent opportunities for members. The Service Chair shall log all members’ hours during the semester and notify members who are in danger of not completing their 8 required hours before the semester concludes.

Section 10. The Brotherhood Chair is responsible for planning all official fraternity events ​ as well as organizing brotherhood events. The chair will also be responsible for keeping track of each member’s brotherhood credits.

Section 11. The Professional Development Chair is responsible for planning and ​ organizing all professional development events, as well as keeping track of professional development credits for each member.

Section 12. The Executive Board shall have power to transact urgent fraternity business ​ including replacements in its own membership if necessary. It shall serve as advisor and consultant to the chapter President and assist with new member selection after Rush concludes.

Section 13. The Executive Board will hold bi-weekly (or at whatever interval deemed ​ appropriate by the current Board) board meetings that will be open to all members including pledges, ally, brothers and alumni. These meetings must be announced well in advance and participation and discussion from all present will be encouraged; however only the Executive Board may vote on items brought to a vote at the Board meeting.

Article VI – Elections ​ Section 1. Elections for officers shall be held at the end of the spring term. Elected ​ officers shall take office at the beginning of the following academic fall semester. A board member will hold the same office for two terms.

Section 2. Brother members in good standing are able to fill any elected position. Pledge ​ and ally members are ineligible to run for an elected position to executive board but may run for committee leadership roles. Members running for a position must declare their candidacy, or be nominated as a candidate by another member, prior to the election. There is no limit to the number of offices for which a member may declare candidacy but a brother or ally member may hold only one elected position.

Section 3. The candidates are required to present their qualifications in the form of a ​ short speech at the same meeting during which elections take place.

Section 4. Brother and ally members will cast votes for all elected positions. Only ​ members present may cast a vote, but a proxy ballot may be provided at the discretion of the executive board if the member provides notification prior to the deadline set by the executive board for the election for which they will not be present.

Section 5. Elections shall proceed with votes being cast for positions in the following ​ order: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Pledgemaster, Public Relations Chair, Professional Development, Service Chair, Brotherhood Chair.

Section 6. Elections are decided by a majority vote of Epsilon Eta where both Brother ​ and Ally members have one vote to cast and may abstain from voting should they choose to. In the case of a tie, a runoff shall be held between the tied candidates. Votes for a run-off shall be cast by Brother members only. The candidates will immediately know the results of the election after voting. If a candidate loses the position’s election, they can run for any position that has not premiered in the meeting yet.

Section 7. In the case of resignation, voting for a replacement officer must commence ​ immediately. Only brother members may run and vote. Once a member is elected to a position, they may not hold a position for another member of the executive board. After resignation, the former board member is given ally member status for the remainder of the semester and the semester following but may be allowed to achieve brother member status thereafter.

Section 8. An officer of the executive board may be removed for any of the following ​ reasons: failure to fulfill their required duties as an officer, failure to comply and uphold the rules and regulations set by both the University of Pittsburgh and Epsilon Eta, and/or exhibiting poor behavior that damages Epsilon Eta’s relationship with the University of Pittsburgh. In order for an officer to be removed, a 2/3 majority vote must be reached by the all members of Epsilon Eta. After removal from office, the former officer is given ally member status for the remainder of their membership with Epsilon Eta.

Section 9. Vacancies in executive board positions shall be filled as follows. Should the ​ President resign, the Vice President will take their place and become the President. Elections for Vice President will take place at the next meeting; any brother member, board or otherwise, may run for the vacant Vice President position. Should there be another executive board vacancy, Epsilon Eta will hold elections for the vacant position in the following meeting as outlined in Section 6. If another member of the executive board is elected to the Vice President position, elections must be held the following week to fill the vacant executive board position; a current executive board member is not eligible to run for this vacancy. Any newly elected officers will hold their position until the next election cycle.

Section 10. Committees can be established by a majority vote by Epsilon Eta. Each ​ committee should be created with the intention of furthering the purpose of Epsilon Eta. Any member may serve on a committee, and committee chair positions may be filled by Brother or Ally members.

1. Committees are established with a presiding Executive Board member to hold accountable for communications and activities during board meetings. The committee will discuss with its respective representing Executive Board Member prior to vote for establishment. 2. Committee members will first be considered for fulfilling committee chair vacancies that come up prior to the end of term before extending consideration to the rest of Epsilon Eta. 3. Committee chair elections shall be held at the end of every semester and each term shall be one semester. The voting process for committee chairs shall be analogous to that of board members. The chair positions shall be as follows: 1) Fundraising Chair - Fundraising chair reports to the Treasurer. ​ Their goal is to organize activities and fundraisers for the fraternity for intended use by the fraternity or benefit to the community. 2) Service Project Chair - Service project chair reports to the Service ​ chair. Their goal is to set goals and guidelines with the Executive Board to complete the semester’s service project. They will work with the Service Chair to maintain records of members’ participation for the semester. 3) Rush and Recruitment Chair - Rush chair reports to the ​ Pledgemaster. Their work is to organize events for Rush Week and recruitment events to interact with the community with the intention of the chapter’s membership growth. Rush and recruitment chair shall also participate in developing the application for potential pledges. a) Rush Week is intended to be diverse and open to members who wish to join the Delta chapter. An attendance requirement shall be set prior to Rush Week to offer bids to pledges and for Brother members to take a Little in their family. 4) Alumni Relations Chair - Alumni Relations Chair reports to the ​ Public Relations chair. Their work is to maintain a working relationship with Alumni members with the intention of bringing Alumni back for professional development or brotherhood relations. 5) (Any other interest-based Epsilon Eta committee)

Article VII – Advisor(s) ​ The faculty advisor(s), chosen on the basis of interest and expertise, shall serve as a consultant to the group. The organization shall use the advisor's experience and guidance, but students shall ultimately be responsible for all decision making.

Article VIII – Chapter Meetings ​ Section 1. Chapter meetings shall be held once per week at a constant time decided ​ upon by the President in consultation with the Executive Board.

Section 2. Chapter meetings shall consistently have the following structure: ​ 1. Icebreaker (Optional)

2. Attendance and Calendar updates

3. Officer Updates

4. Official Business

5. Unofficial Business

5. Open Forum

6. Dismissal

Article IX – Quorum A quorum of 2/3 all Brother members currently studying at ​ ​ University of Pittsburgh main campus is needed in order to vote on any matter.

Article X – Amendments ​ Amendments to this constitution may be proposed by any officer, any chapter advisor, or any brother member in good standing. Proposed amendments to the Constitution shall be submitted to the President. The President must then present the proposed amendment to the Executive Board for review. The Executive Board shall submit the amendment at the next chapter meeting. Amendments shall be ratified by 2/3 vote of the brother members. All constitution additions, revisions and deletions must be reported to the SORC.

Article – By-Laws, Regulations, and Risk Management

Section 1. The Executive Board shall, from time to time, adopt such by-laws as are ​ necessary to carry out the provisions of this constitution. It shall be the purpose of the by-laws to state the specific procedures and practices in effect at any given time.

Section 2. External Affiliations. In compliance with the Publications Code for Student ​ Organizations, all publications of the organization will comply with current copywriter laws, be distributed according to policies and procedures, refrain from expressions that are considered obscene or libelous according to current statute, advocate or insight the material interference or physical disruption of the educational process of the peace, order and decorum of the campus, or that advocate or insight imminent, lawless action or the violent overthrow of the government and identify the organization as publisher and specify that the group is a registered student organization at the University of Pittsburgh.

Section 3. Epsilon Eta will not adopt a political viewpoint or community status aligned ​ with any political party or organized movement. Individuals are encouraged to maintain their political viewpoints outside of time with Epsilon Eta but may not represent Epsilon Eta in any political manner including but not limited to marches, protests, campaigning for political candidates, etc.

Section 4. No fraternity member shall take part in hazing activities. The University of Pittsburgh’s Hazing Policy defines hazing as:

Any action or situation which recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student or which willfully destroys or removes public or private property for the purpose of initiation or admission into or affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in, any organization operating under the sanction of or recognized as an organization by the University.

The term shall include but not be limited to, any brutality of a physical nature, such as whipping, beating, branding, forced calisthenics, exposure to the elements, forced consumption of food, liquor, drug or other substance, or any other forced physical activity which could adversely affect the physical health and safety of the individual, and shall include any activity which would subject the individual to extreme mental stress, such as sleep deprivation, forced exclusion from social contact, forced conduct which could result in extreme embarrassment, or any other forced activity which could adversely affect the mental health or dignity of the individual, or any willful destruction or removal of public or private property. For purposes of this definition, any activity as described in this definition upon which the initiation or admission into or affiliation with or continued membership in an organization is directly or indirectly conditioned shall be presumed to be “forced” activity, the willingness of an individual to participate in such activity notwithstanding. Therefore, any student who causes or participates in hazing may be subject to appropriate University discipline and/or may be subject to criminal prosecution. This policy is in conformance with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania “Anti-Hazing Law”, Act 175 of 1986.

Section 5. Sexual Harassment / Abuse / Discrimination: Epsilon Eat will not tolerate or condone any form of abusive or discriminatory behavior on the part of its members, whether physical, mental or emotional in respect to age, ancestry, ethnicity, disability. race, religious creed, sexual orientation, or veteran status. This is to include any actions that are deemed to be demeaning to all, including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, or verbal harassment.

Section 6. The possession, use, and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages, during any fraternity event, any event that the observer would associate with the fraternity, or in any situation sponsored or endorsed by the chapter, must be in compliance with any and all applicable laws, policies, and regulations of the state and city of Pittsburgh. Alcohol may be served at fraternity-sponsored events only if the alcohol is provided to members and guests at their own expense by a third-party vendor licensed to serve alcoholic beverages. The unlawful possession, sale, and/or use of any illegal drugs or controlled substances at any fraternity event that an outside observer could associate with the fraternity is strictly prohibited. The Delta chapter will not use or condone the use of alcoholic beverages as part of their membership recruitment “rush”, or pledge program.

Section 7. Personal Property: Use of personal property in fraternity activities shall be strictly voluntary and the sole responsibility of the owner. Epsilon Eta shall not assume liability for personal property used in conjunction with fraternity activities, nor for any damages resulting from said use.

Section 8. Transportation: Any individual who drives or provides transportation in conjunction with Epsilon Eta activities shall obey all applicable motor vehicle laws, including, but not limited to, those concerning vehicle safety, vehicle operation, and insurance. Operators will ensure that vehicles are driven in a safe manner at all times. Epsilon Eta will not assume liability for personal vehicles used in conjunction with fraternity activities, nor for any damages resulting from said use.

Section 9. Violations: Any violation or reported violation of the above policies or any harassing behavior will be met with appropriate actions and reporting to authorities, whether those be chapter, university, or police related. If a formal complaint is received, it will be up to the current board members to decide what action shall be taken against the violator.

Article XII – Dissolution ​ In the event of the dissolution of Epsilon Eta Environmental Honors Fraternity, the assets, if any, will be distributed to an organization that is exempt from Federal income tax as an organization described in 501 (c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code, contributions to which are deductible, or to the Federal Government, or to a state or local government for a public purpose.
