A NEW FACE ON THE RURAL BEAT.

May I take this opportunity to introduce you to a new member of our little team: PCSO Gareth Cole has recently joined us on the Rural Beat.

Gareth is replacing PCSO Shona Maycock whilst she is away giving birth and getting to grips with becoming a mother for the first time. Shona is currently still working in the office but will be leaving in early June.

Gareth is currently being shown the ropes by Will Todd but will be ‘flying solo’ from the middle of May.

I hope that you will welcome Gareth and give him the kind of support and appreciation that you have done for the rest of the team over the years.

I also hope you will all wish Shona the best and we hope that she will be back with us sometime next year. No doubt wiser, but tired and very motherly!

LET’S NOT MAKE IT EASY FOR THEM.

I don’t know about you but I am a bit paranoid about someone stealing my stuff. It is probably because of the job I do but I don’t reckon there are too many occasions when I leave myself open to having my personal possessions stolen. My mobile phone, for instance, is never left anywhere unattended. In fact it’s in my pocket all the time. My wallet too, always tucked away in a pocket. If I had a handbag and I understand that it is perfectly acceptable for men to possess such items, it would never leave my side; in fact it would have a long strap and would nestle comfortably on my hip. My car never has anything of value in it and I lock it absolutely everywhere, seriously, no matter where I am as soon as I alight, it is locked. My shed, which contains my prized lawn mower, which incidentally has my name all over it, is securely locked in a shed. The shed is blocked in every night by my car, my securely locked car. So if I can do it without too much thought as it has become a routine, surely so can everyone else? Let’s not make thing easy for Mr Opportunist Thief, let’s make it as hard as we can. INCIDENTS OF NOTE – JANUARY 2011.
