l PUBLICATIONS Publication is an essential feature of the activities of Jl The State Historical Society of Iowa since its purpose is not alone to investigate, to discover, to collect, and to pre­ serve, but also to make public the materials of history. The vari'ous publications which have been issued by the Society may be conveniently grouped under the following heads: THE QUARTERLY THE PUBLIC ARCHIVES SERIES THE lowA BIOGRAPHICAL SERIES THE IowA EcoNOMIC HISTORY SERIES THE MISCELLANEOUS PUBLICATIONS THE BULLETINS OF INFORMATION THE REPRINTS QUARTERLY The Quarterly Publication of The State Historical So­ ciety 'Of Iowa consists of three distinct Series from 1863 to date as follows: Annals of Iowa:-First series, quarterly, Vols. I-XII (1863-1874). One complete set offered for sale-only $40.00. This is the finest complete set the Society has been able to offer in 25 years. Mostly out of print. Complete sets are very rare. Vols. III (1865), IV (1866), V (1867) and VI (1868), may be supplied complete. Vol. I (1863), Nos. 2 and 3; Vol. VII I (1869), Nos. 2, 3 and 4; Vol. VIII (1870), Nos. 2, 3 l and 4; Y.ol. IX (1871), Nos.1, 3 and 4; Vol. X, No. 3; Vol. XII (1874), Nos. 2, 3 and 4, are available. Complete volumes are rated at $4.00, and numbers at $1.00 e'ach. All as issued. The Annals was the first quarterly issued by the Society. Its pages include many contributions of note by the pioneers of Iowa that are not to be found in any other publication. The Annals should be in every library that aims to secure publications relating to Iowa. 3 Annals of Iowa:-Howe's series, quarterly, Vol. I, No. 4, October, 1882; and Vol. 2, No. 2, April1883, are on hand. Per number, 50 cents. Occasionally complete sets or various numbers may be had. This series of the Annals was the private enterprise of one of the officers of The State Historical Society of Iowa who entered the field some years after the suspension of the first series. Only three volumes of four numbers each were issued. Iowa. Historical .Record:-Quarterly, Vols. I-XVIII (1885-1902). Complete set in numbers as issued $30.00 This serial is the quarterly publication of the Society which took the place of the first series of Annals. Many im­ portant contributions made by Iowans and others versed in Iowa history are to be found in these volumes. A number of sets have been made up from the stock of numbers on hand and are for sale only in complete sets. As the number of complete sets is less than fifteen, it is anticipated that the supply will not last long. The Record ceased publication in 1902 and was succeeded by The Iowa Journal of History and Politics. The Iowa Journal of History and Politics :-Quarterly, Vols. I-VII (1903-1909). As issued.
