200 WEST REDLANDS BLVD CITY INFORMATION REDLANDS THE CITY OF REDLANDS Redlands is a city in San Bernardino County, California. It is a part of the Inland Empire area. The city is located approximately 10 miles east of downtown San Bernardino, 20 miles from downtown Riverside, 60 miles from downtown Los Angeles, 47 miles from Palms Springs and 54 miles from Irvine. The Inland Empire current population is approximately 4,500,000 people in 2016 growing to 6,000,000 by 2040.

Coming east from Los Angeles and continuing toward Palm Springs, Interstate 10 bisects Redlands. The State Route 210 or Foothill Freeway ends at Interstate 10 in Redlands, then heads west toward Pasadena and Los Angeles. The San Bernardino-based Omnitrans bus system which handles the bus service for the area serves Redlands. The San Bernardino line of the Greater Los Angeles regional transportation system called Metrolink has a stop in nearby San Bernardino and there is a future light rail connector just footsteps from the site.

The property is located in the center of the historic commercial district and just steps away from the Redlands Santa Fe Railway which was established in 1888. The current station building, a Classi- SANTA FE DEPOT cal Revival structure, was built in 1909 to replace the original depot. The buildings surrounding the station represent many of the important components of the city’s economy, particularly the orange packing industry. Several packing houses remain from the city’s heyday as an orange packing center, forming one of the largest remaining groups of orange packing houses in the Inland Empire. A num- ber of the other buildings were used by growers’ associations and other groups in the citrus industry. Many of the building in the trade area were built from 1900’s to 1930’s.
