Dad’s Old Fashion SURVIVORS -- The men of Vern McConnell’s infantry company posed for this photo in France only a few days after World War I had ended. McConnell, a Root 2liter 89 C sergeant, is in the second row from the front, third from the left. The company started with 257 men. There are 33 in the photo. Some died, some were in Bee r hospitals and some were separated from the unit.
